These two warriors were separated by 400

both using pre -gunpowder weapons, but
these are some of the most exotic and

lethal arms we've seen.

The simulator will process the data to
generate a true -to -life, never -before

-seen deathmatch between the Aztec
Jaguar and the Zonday Warrior.

The winner will be the deadliest
warrior, Aztec descendant and weapons

To demonstrate the lethal fighting
techniques of his pre -Columbian

Jaguar warriors were very passionate,
committed, dangerous as all hell. So

they go in there to battle, they strike
fear into the hearts of their enemies.

And literally rip them out.

New World, the Aztec Empire dominated

what is now Mexico and most of Central

The backbone of the mighty Altec army
was the Jaguar warrior.

To intimidate the enemy, these brutal
troops covered their bodies in the skins

of jaguars and moved just as swiftly.

The swift death wasn't granted to their
enemies.

The jaguars' mission was something far
more horrific.

They were the ones that went out there
to collect the fresh meat, human flesh,

for sacrificial ceremonies.

Human sacrifice was believed to appease
the gods and sustain the cycle of life.

There was a constant demand for fresh
victims.

Then they would behead them and kick
them down the temple steps.

But Team Zondi believed it'll be the
Aztecs who were going down.

colonial power and turned the tables on

gun -toting slave traders with their
poison arrows and savage blades.

They defeated and demoralized their
opponents psychologically from their

One of their fiercest tactics was making
their enemies believe they were

cannibals. The Zandis actually went and
filed their keys to make it seem real

that they can eat people.

Such strategies caused the Zandei
warriors to be nicknamed Nyam Nyam,

meant great eaters. So imagine that
sound coming down the warpath.

affair against America's ruthless ritual

I'm giving this all to the Zandes.

They're an Iron Age warrior as compared
to the Aztec Stone Age warrior.

So I'm guessing the Zandes are going to
have at least one iron weapon that's

going to dominate this game. I actually
think the Aztecs are going to take this,

because the weaponry that they're
bringing, it was seriously

Aztec's weaponry secret?

Obsidian. Volcanic glass.

forged in red -hot lava.

You hear the term razor -sharp?

Obsidian blades are way sharper than a
razor.

They're sometimes even sharper than
scalpels.

The Aztec Jaguar's signature killing
tool, the maquito, an obsidian -lined

sword club built for slicing and dicing.

This badass weapon, gentlemen, is called
the maquito, and it was used in battle.

To immobilize your opponent.

This weapon is designed to serve the
god, which is, in this case, for the

Descatlipoca, the god of the night.

It could take off limbs if wanted to,
and there's even been an account that

could sever a horse's head.

You've heard a lot of legends that don't
actually bear out on this show.

I gotta see that happen, man. Let's do

To test the legend, a ballistic gel
horse's head, the same size and density

Well, thanks to our deadliest warrior
armorers, this is quite possibly the

time we've seen this weapon in use in
500 years.

What are we going to test? The damage
and severing ability of the obsidian.

and ripped through. I think this is more
blunt force than cutting.

Well, the beauty of this weapon is it's
actually both.

You lost most of your weapon. You've
killed two people and that's it.

of you.

power. You know what I love about the
use of this weapon?

And all those raggedy edges we saw in
the obsidian, this is more like a

wound as opposed to a cutting wound,
which is going to bleed much, much more

than a cutting wound.

And on the way out. Straight up
disembowelment.

Exactly.

You've got 300 pounds of beef packed
with entrails and blood.

And we're going to see just how much
damage this McRooker can do going in and

coming out.

We've seen some barbed weapons, but this
and what came out of this is just

beyond anything I can imagine the pain
that that man is going through.

I mean, it looks like actually when you
enter, it goes in real smoothly, but on

the way out, it grabs the organs and
harvests them out.

Pretty nasty way to die.

This is quite possibly the best high
-speed video I have ever seen. Ever

Yeah, and look at the angle of the
blade. It's going in along the ribs, not

against the ribs, so it smoothly goes
through. And you're looking, what are

going to sew here? What are you going to
repair? You can't repair anything here.

It's jelly. It's like a Cuisinart on the
inside.

Which warrior's primary weapon has the
greater killing power?

Aztec L 'Equital Sword Club or the Zonde
Macriga Spear?

The sweeping ability, the sharpness.

And the ripping ability of the McQueedle
is where I'm giving my side to.

I got to disagree. I got to go with the
McQueedle.

Once you get in and you get that jagged
movement all around, your zone of trauma

is huge. The chance of death or insta
-kill is really high. Sure, sure. But it

also is possible to get inside the reach
of that spear. I got to go with

McQueedle. Obsidian chainsaw. It will
tear you apart.

In mid -range weapons, the Aztecs get
the edge with the McQueedle.

The Team Zonday is undeterred.

Their ancestors killing with a virtual
instinct.

They needed to fight in order to protect
their resources, protect their family,

and also to expand their empire.

Young Zonday men lived and breathed hand
-to -hand combat.

Powerful body structure and continuous
training made them as physically strong

as their iron weapons.

The Zande warriors had a take -no
-prisoners approach, only killing right

on the battlefield.

Aztec society was also based on war, but
for them, it was for their gods.

To keep the universe stable, the Aztec
believed their gods demanded a steady

supply of human blood.

So every Aztec male was duty -bound to
wage war and take sacrificial prisoners.

Military training started at an early
age.

Even their recreation had a savage side.

Our toys aren't little wicker baskets.

Our toys are weapons. They never leave
our side and we're with them training 24

Weapons and battle. That is it.

Those warriors who showed exceptional
skill were initiated into top military

orders such as Jaguar.

two of history's most cruel combatants

against each other.

An Aztec Jaguar warrior versus an
African Zonday fighter.

Both brutal in battle, but in different
goals.

Fast, but very agile, and we fight for a
greater purpose.

The Aztecs believed war was a sacred
activity.

It was not so much a matter of killing
the enemy as of capturing him for

sacrifice to their god.

The Aztecs are not psychos.

On the other side, Zonday warriors had
no time for prisoners.

War was to protect power and resources.

If you think you will take over what we
own, we will show you pain. We will kill

The Zonday warriors' most notorious
weapon, a throwing knife that dive bombs

an enemy like a flying buzzsaw.

This is the Kapinga.

As you can see by the way the barbs are
arranged, it's meant to do maximum

damage in any way it hits the body.

As it flies through the air, it has the
potential to go around a shield.

Angular momentum.

What's with the bottom barb?

It's a sign of masculinity. And only the
most feared and powerful warriors can

carry this weapon.

The team heads out to see if the Kapinga
can take down a squad of Aztec

warriors. They would throw it over here,
impale the head, the neck, anything in

upper torso region. The blades on these
are so long that this definitely has the

potential to kill. Exactly. I do have
questions about the accuracy of this

weapon. You guys think you can deliver?

They hit the shield and then it bounced
off and hit another

guy.

Got that bitch.

This basically is going straight through
the midsection of the abdomen, which is

really the only way to cause an instant
kill.

But you actually did it with the hand.

You're classifying this as an insta
-kill? This is an insta -kill.

You also throw it horizontally to take a
man's leg completely from underneath.

That's something I gotta see.

The test target.

Similar to the bone density and
thickness of a human attacker. Go!

This is as bad as it could get. If you
want to actually dismember somebody,

is the perfect way to do it.

The Aztecs aren't impressed.

Because as we just proved, the Kapinga
hits the shield, rotates away from the

shield, and hits any other parts.
There's no way. There's no way this can

us. Who the hell comes into battle with
a piece like that?

They can barely even throw the thing.

The Aztec answer to the Zonday Kapinga
is the first true weapon system created

by man.

A two -part killing tool developed over
10 ,000 years ago.

The Tlatlotsli.

A long, flexible spear with an obsidian
point.

And its companion launching device, the
Atlatl.

Combination produces long -distance
assassination.

This is the Atlatl.

It looks pretty harmless, but think
again.

It's a weapon.

This is the ammo.

With an obsidian tip, we'll definitely
go through a human body like a blowtorch

through butter.

They'll first test the Tlatlotsli spear
without the added power of the atlatl.

The spear's range easily surpasses the
capinga's.

But the greater the distance, the poorer
the accuracy.

So David turbocharges his spear.

Yet Lattel artificially lengthens a
warrior's arm, increasing the arc over

the spear can be slung.

into the body, probably causing even

trauma, bringing the pain.

Team Zonday believes their wickerworth
shield, the tube, can deflect anything

the Atlatl can deliver.

You're done.

Boom. See the wave go up both sides of
the shield like that?

That's absorbing energy. But fear still
made it through. And it's making it

through at a significant length. And
that basically means the shield didn't

work. It's a kill.

So which long -range weapon do our
experts believe has the edge?

The Zonday Kapinga or Aztec Atlantis?

Although the Atlassian spear had the
greater range, the greater killing power

came from the Kapinga. I've got to give
it to the Kapinga. In long -range

weapons, the Zonday warrior takes the
air.

With the Kapinga coming up, the battle
intensifies.

We're going to slaughter and sacrifice
this Zondas even.

Both teams prepare to test their most
insane weapons yet.

An Aztec Jaguar, a warrior charged with
capturing enemies for ritual slaughter,

versus a Zonday warrior, the African
fighter who was never conquered, who

win in a battle to the death.

The Aztec army was very smart, very
efficient, because they developed their

strategies really well. The Aztec
warriors fought as an army.

The Zonday warriors were individuals,
capable of thinking for themselves.

Acting for themselves.

All they care about is dancing around
and trying to intimidate you. No.

The Aztec sacred tool for close -range
slaughter.

The tech paddle knife.

A diabolical dagger with an obsidian
blade.

This is a dagger used in battle also.

very brutal on the battlefield.

this body is going to still be fed
blood. It's still going to be moving for

least 30 seconds after this head is
hanging out.

So this body dies after the head is off.

That's execution for you, Zandi style.

The high speed shows them a crocker's

So what's happening here with that
tension on the neck is the neck is

separating as it's cutting through as
opposed to the weight of the head

collapsing and gripping onto that soil.

So which short -range weapon gets the
edge?

Makraka basically rocked on. I mean, you
cannot compare the two. I mean, it

used, for the first time, surgical
precision.

In short -range weapon, the zombie
Makraka takes the edge.

In a showdown between an African zombie
fighter and an Aztec jaguar, our

experts are moving closer to determining
which one of the sadistic slayers will

be the deadliest warrior.

The Aztecs spend so much time dancing
and prancing, making their weapons

beautiful, while we're doing everything
to make them deadly.

They fight for what? They don't have a
reason to really, truly fight.

We fight for greater cause. We have the
gods on our side.

They have nothing.

The Aztecs believe the Zonday warriors
will never get close enough to touch

them. They have a special weapon that
can deliver a crushing death at a

of more than two football feet.

The Tematlatl Blink.

An agave fiber strap that holds
specially crafted killer stones.

This here is a temetlatl. Basically what
we do is we take these football -shaped

rocks. We can hurl this up to 660 feet.

This temetlatl is made of an agave
plant, which we use to make most of our

clothes and our alcohol.

This looks like it's been formed or
handmade.

Yes, yes, we do have a stone carver that
forms them all the same way. That way

they're the same texture and same
weight. That way when we go into battle,

won't have to worry about compensating.

You're going to bring a piece of string
and a rock to a fight?

What kind of sense does that make? I see
the attitude that your tribe has as

warriors. Oh, yeah, brutal.

Because you don't respect the weapon.

And it's not about the extravagancy of
the weapon or the look of the weapon,

about how efficient can you be with any
material you have in your hands and make

it a weapon.

Could an Aztec sling take out an
unhelmeted Zonday warrior?

problems from this point for their

So we'll say maybe one out of the five
is dead. Two are severely injured.

The nice thing is the center of the
face. I mean, that is an accurate shot.

And this is the largest mass.

sling projectile we've seen. So the
combination of those two makes it a lot

blunt force trauma for a sling that
we've ever seen. It's bringing that

power. It's definitely the most deadly
sling we've seen.

It caused the blunt force trauma or
whatever.

So we have a weapon that's going to
cause death.

The Zonday Warriors answer to the Aztec
sling.

The Boto Bow and Pima Arrow.

A specialty weapon with a double dose of
death.

What makes this a special weapon? We've
seen a lot of bows and arrows.

It's not just a bow and arrow, I would
put it. It comes with poison. It's

benge. It's collected from a creeper
called Liana.

The Zonde warrior would bathe his barbed
arrows in the toxic concoction before

battle.

Today's chemical equivalent is straight
knife.

Strychnine is actually used today to
kill rats. It's rat poison. What it

it makes your body fasciculate, and then
in larger dosages, it stops you from

breathing, and then you die.

Fasciculate?

Fasciculate's like jerking around. Your
muscle starts twitching, upper and

lower. Almost kind of looks like a
seizure, but you're alert.

Stakes have definitely been raised.
We've got a neurotoxin, and it's time

some chemical warfare.

Let's go, baby. Come on.

Okay, Gordon.

I'm 35 feet out. We've got our gel corso
set up.

Ready to rock?

Well, I mean, this was a very impressive
display of the use of the bow and

arrow. As you can see, look, this one's
hitting the liver.

A lot of blood in the liver. You're
going to get bleeding out. But the

part about the bleeding is you get the
strychnine poisoning.

So we saw that the strychnine does get
into the bloodstream. Let's see how deep

this actually goes in the body.

A little difficult to pull out, but
we're...

about two inches, and we know that we
need about three inches to actually

significant amount of death trauma, and
we're not getting it. So I think it does

need the Strychnine to actually become a
killing tool by itself.

But you also got to take into
consideration that we also have armor.

The Ichikawi Pili was a two -finger
-thick cotton armor.

It was soaked in saltwater brine to make
it so hard it would repel arrows.

Chest injury, with a fast impact, it can
actually withstand quite a large load,

like up to about 1 ,000 pounds.

So in order to injure this guy behind
this armor, I think you're going to have

to penetrate it.

Okay, Gord, let's see if you can
penetrate that cotton armor. You ready?

And loose!

The arrows appear to have penetrated the
armor.

But how much?

No, it's barely the tip. Barely the tip.

The armor takes off about that much.

So, two things. One, it's not going to
kill you just by the strike itself. And

two, it's not going to get the poison in
where it needs to get it for it to act

fast. I'll be damned. The mattress pad
did its job.

How does the Aztec Tematlatl sling stack
up against the Zande, Bottle Bow, and

Pima Arrow?

We saw some very accurate flinging
today. David did some very impressive

In combination, sling, cotton armor, I
gotta give it the edge.

The Kapinga is an awesome -looking
weapon. When you put a man's genitals on

weapon, you're making a statement. And
having it perfectly balanced to fly

through the air without losing energy,
that's a weapon I'm going to fall in

with.

Edge, Zonday Warrior.

Mid -range weapons, the Zonday Makrika
Spear.

I'm beating with the Aztec McQueetle
Sword Club.

The McQueetle is a nasty spear.

But at the end of the day, I think it's
just another spear, compared to the

McQueetle, which might look like a fake
sword, but it's got those multiple

obsidian edges, and in our test, was
able to decapitate a horse.

I have to give it to the Makraka. This
