arsenals of two of history's most brutal

generals. Attila the Hun. The notorious
raider who ransacked Europe.

His murderous missions forever linked
his name with cruelty.

Yet to his own people, a national hero.

versus Alexander the Great, the
brilliant military strategist from

Greece, whose conquest of Persia turned
battlefields into bloodbaths.

Lead scientist Jeff Damelin will use the
most advanced technology to put the

warrior's lethal weapons to the test.

Alexander the Great versus Attila the

tacticians in the history of warfare. I
can't wait to see them go head -to

I bring the information that I use on a
daily basis in a trauma hospital, and I

bring it to this battlefield.

The bottom line is, who's going to die?

Computer whiz Max Geiger will use the
test findings to resurrect these

leaders in a battle simulation program.

But in a deadliest warrior first, Max
will have to account for a brand new

element. These warriors fight on
horseback.

Mounted warfare really raises the bar in
terms of how much damage each warrior

can do in the simulation.

All of your weapons have that much more
momentum, that much more power, driving

them home.

The simulator will generate a true -to
-life fight to the death.

The winner will be that deadliest
warrior.

Attila's weapons will be wielded by
Hungarian native Robert Borsos, one

of the world's top horseback archers.

and a descendant of a Han clan.

Attila was a barbarian, but he had
charisma.

For Hungarians, Attila is a hero and a
legend.

Also fighting for Attila, spear and
dagger specialist Sean Pennington.

Attila's essence really is his cruelty.

He was the most feared man in his tribe.
That's why he was the leader.

Attila was born into the Hun royal
family around 400 AD in modern -day

Attila gained control of the army when
his uncle mysteriously died.

Attila had goals to take over the world.
He needed an army to do it.

The Hun army had a fearsome reputation
for raiding and plundering,

terrorizing Eastern Europe with sudden
wild massacres.

Attila would destroy a town.

And then when he got to the next town,
he would tell them, hey, if you don't

want your town destroyed like this last
one was, you should pay me some money.

The bloodshed Attila left in his wake is
legendary.

His name forever associated with
violence and gore.

Attila is going to rip Alexander the
Great up one side and down the other,

him behind the horse, trample him a few
times, and then spit on him.

Team Attila is convinced of their man's
victory.

But they are up against equally
confident opponents.

Born in 356 B .C., Alexander was the
heir to the throne of Macedonia in what

now northern Greece.

Alexander was chomping at the bit to
lead his own army.

When his father would win battles, he
would actually complain, will he give me

no chance for glory? He didn't think
there was going to be anyone left to

conquer. Alexander got his opportunity
for glory at age 20, when his father was

assassinated.

Alexander the Great inherited a
fantastic war machine and trained

that tool for world conquest.

But Alexander didn't just conquer.

He single -handedly revolutionized the
way war was waged.

He was trying to bring new tactics and
new weapons and new technology into the

field that no one had seen before.

Alexander's army was smaller than most,
but under his command, it was the

deadliest.

During the short reign of Alexander the
Great, he was responsible for killing

more people than any other conqueror
before his time. It's really going to be

hard for Attila to compete with that.

So how would this competition between
two larger -than -life leaders go down?

Being a position for MMA fight, when you
actually evaluate a fight, You look at

who's scrappier.

I think the killer of the hunt might
actually have the advantage. I have to

with Alexander the Great simply because
he brings more science to the game, more

organization to his battle.

Alexander will lead his assault with his
most innovative and intimidating

weapon. The ballista.

A super -sized killing machine.

The ballista.

This was the ancient world's howitzer.

This thing could throw massive bolts
great distances.

And it would go through anything it hit.

Because of the incredible range of the
ballista, our team of scientists head

outside to put it to the test.

Tell me how one man would use something
like this. Mainly for sieges, to attack

city walls and fortifications. That can
propel either a bolt.

Like this, worth stone, between 500 and
700 yards.

To fire the ballista, a winch twists its
rope coils.

Originally made from animal guts, they
absorb elastic energy, like a wound

spring under pressure.

The same principle as one of those paper
airplanes with a rubber band propeller,

except instead of a dinky little paper
airplane, you're hefting this into

somebody's face.

To check the blister's accuracy, a stand
-in for Attila the Hun has been placed

downrange.

A sensor on the weapon will measure the
speed of the bolt.

Okay, Pete, you ready?

I'm ready.

Three, two, one, go!

Yeah!

That guy!

Yeah, all right.

Attila, down!

The ballista's bolt clocks an incredible
198 miles per hour.

Holy... This is the most acceleration
we've ever measured on this show, man.

High five, bro. A machine whose design
is 2 ,300 years old. I got some big cons

for that weapon. It's a very unwieldy,
bulky weapon. It's hard to move, hard to

reposition. And a man on horseback is an
exceptionally nimble opponent. If it

does work, it's a kill. If it does work.

The number of Gs we're pulling here, we
might actually see the first weapon

that's going to go through multiple
people.

To test that theory, foam torsos will
simulate a battle formation three

deep. All right, let's spill some Hun
blood.

The ballista can go the distance.

However, it takes a minute to reload
that gun and about another 30 seconds to

position our aim.

Just how lethal is a ballista's flying

bolt?

This is intense.

It's basically... It's going...

Through the face, obviously, through the
skull. This is a kill. Okay, one down.

This is the one that's really
interesting because this is the one I

most.

This is hitting the aorta. You hit that,
boom, you're dead.

Every detail of the carnage was captured
on the high -speed camera.

Every shot that hit was a kill shot.

Suspecting that it was going to take out
a few people at a time turned out to be

false. By the time you've got that
reloading, the hunts have ridden in.

Peppered you guys with arrows and ridden
back out. What it's built to do, it

does better than anything else.

It's phenomenal.

But it'll be interesting to see what
Attila's going to be able to bring to

game. The Hun experts prepare to charge
into combat with a weapon Attila used to

bludgeon his enemies.

But Team Alexander has a surprise of its
own.

A death match is about to unfold between
two of history's most victorious

military leaders.

Alexander the Great.

or Attila the Hun. The Huns were
absolutely fearless men with no equal.

Alexander was trained to be the
deadliest warrior since the day he was

Alexander charges into battle with a
ballistic catapult, the gastropedic

bow, the Zetan spear, and the Cocos
sword.

Attila strikes back with a Scythian axe,
the Hunnic composite bow, the lasso,

and the sword of Mars.

Our first matchup pits two specialty
weapons on opposite ends of the scale.

Alexander kicked off the battle with a
giant ballista.

In contrast, Attila is betting on a
handheld brain basher.

This could be an axe.

A wood chopping tool modified to maim
and kill.

So this axe... is great for cleaving
through skulls, any brains, guts, blood,

anything flying.

With all the weight focused up here at
the head, it builds up a lot of

Only one thing left to do, let's test it

Okay, Sean, here's your target.

Ballistic's gel head mimics the density
and viscosity of the human body.

Jeff attaches a sensor to Sean's arm and
weapon to determine the actor's impact

velocity.

Ready position, set.

So three, two, one, go!

Yeah!

Okay, as you can see, definitely the
decapitation.

You can look down in here and you can
actually see the spine is completely

severed. That is gorgeous.

This is one of those times where you get
hit and you don't even know it happened

and you die. Right. So this is a nice,
quick, swift kill. The number I got was

69 miles per hour at impact.

Nice. Nice work. That's one of the
fastest two -headed swinging weapons

seen. You know, there's some stories I
heard here about Alexander being a god,

and I think I just proved immortal.

The point is, he's not going to be
coming out without anything protecting

head. Something like this.

would certainly take that impact and
keep him relatively safe.

You think so?

Oh, yeah. That helmet's not going to
survive.

I'm confident in this helmet. I'd like
to see how you do with the battle axe.

He's going to get a glancing blow at
best. Do you think he's going to survive

without a fractured skull, though? Oh,
yeah. Okay. Can't wait to prove it

A tech scan pressure mat will measure
the force of the blow striking

iron helmet.

If it's more than 81 pounds per square
inch, it will mean a skull fracture.

John, you set?

Ready.

Three, two, one, go!

Oh,

Sean.

You know what?

I've got some bad news for you.

Not only did you not penetrate the
armor, the pressure mat did not detect

anything significant that would cause a
skull fracture. It was much lower than

81 PSI. It was around 20.

So in this exceptional matchup of two
very different and lethal battle tools,

which special weapon gives their warrior
a killing edge?

Ballista gets the edge. Why?

Physics for killing, longer range, and
even if Attila can close that range,

Alexander's got his helmet.

The special weapon, the edge, goes to
Alexander for the Ballista.

But the Hun experts are unfazed.

They believe Attila has the biggest
advantages of all.

speed, and mobility.

The Huns were not foot fighters. They
were horsemen. When most children are

learning to walk, the Huns were learning
to ride.

To maximize his mobility, Attila also
wore very minimal body armor.

Attila viewed heavy armor as almost a
hindrance. It destroyed his accuracy and

slowed him down.

Alexander ensured his victories through
a rigorous daily training regimen.

designed to turn his own body into his
secret weapon.

Alexander practiced and excelled at
pancreation, which was the Western

first martial art and a key component to
ancient warfare.

To test the lethality of Alexander's
martial art, we've invited into the

zone ultimate fighting champion, Rashad
Sugar Evans. Rashad Evans, man.

Good to see you. Big fan.

These ancient weapons remain fierce even
to this ultimate fighter.

In the UFC, Rashad practices the modern
day version of Alexander's

pancreation.

But there's one major difference.

Pancration had no rules.

There was eye gouging, there was fish
hooking, there was neck chokes. Not just

the neck chokes that we do, but just
straight on choking and nobody's

it up.

What happens when pancreation is taken
to its limit?

Will it give Alexander an extra edge
when he takes on a tiller?

Okay, Richard, this is where I get
really excited. This is trauma anatomy

We've got a body stimulant here. You're
going to be able to take it past the

normal limits. Do what you got to do to
inflict pain.

His first objective, crushing the
trachea.

Try to catch him.

Not with the blunt part of my elbow.

but with the pointy part of my elbow.

Okay, man. You ready?

I'm ready.

Got a little internal bleeding, buddy.

Rashad is doing the same moves as
Alexander, so getting the chance to see

this conqueror operated is phenomenal.

You know the interesting thing about a
throat shot like that? That it only

roughly 70 pounds.

Next, Rashad will see how well the torso
takes a knee to the head.

An illegal move in the ring.

This skull looks like an eggshell. You
have your knee print through that skull

into that brain. I mean, that's death
right there. So this guy would be dead

right now.

Yeah, he'd be dead.

Pancration is brutal.

When this fight gets up close and
personal, there's no question

going to have the edge.

And I'm curious to see what Attila's
going to do to compensate.

Team Attila is about to unveil their
most devastating weapon.

One they believe.

will pierce a giant hole in their
opponent's ego.

Inside our fight club, two teams of
experts continue to test their weapons

determine who is deadlier.

Bavarian raider Attila the Hun, or
Macedonian conqueror Alexander the

Alexander was a great physical warrior.

He was an expert at all weapon systems
of his time.

And he was a thinker. Taught by
Aristotle, he could find a solution to

problem on the battlefield.

In one famous battle, Alexander was
confronted by Persian war chariots.

Spiked wagons threatening to rip his
army apart.

Alexander's solution?

Sure, let them come, let them run
through. We're just going to open up

our lines, let them come into the gap.

Close them tight, kill them from behind.

But Attila won't be using chariots.

He took his opponents head -on with an
unbeatable weapons combo.

Up until the introduction of gunpowder,
the horse archer was the deadliest

weapon on the battlefield.

And Attila used that to great effect.

The Hunnic Composite Bow.

Annihilation by archery.

This bow is a work of art. It was a
thing of beauty. What is it made out of

exactly? It was made of a few layers of
wood and horn. It takes about a year to

make, and they last lifetimes. If you
think about a regular English longbow,

instance, it's just got one curve that
goes through the whole thing after it's

been strung. This has got a few curves.

What this does is it actually applies
more power to this bow in a much smaller

frame. How important was a bow to a
hunt?

How important is your right arm?

Good answer.

Team Attila believes Hunnic archery
skills will dissect Alexander.

If I've learned anything from all these
warriors is you've got to be really

scared of the quiet ones. The silent
ones are usually the deadlier ones.

The team Alexander believes they can out
-shoot the Hun's bow.

It was a crossbow on steroids.

It could shoot far, it shot powerfully,
and it could out -range any hand -held

bow. The gastropedics.

A killing machine with devastating
firepower.

This is the gastropheles.

It's the belly boat. It was fired from
this position.

You would attach this bow string to this
mechanism here and then lean into it

and pull the string back and load the
weapon.

You pull the trigger.

Oh! And there goes your bolt. And these
bolts are also much heavier and much

stronger than the arrows of the Huns.

So these are going to be hitting a whole
lot harder and a whole lot farther and

a whole lot faster.

So longer range, bigger stopping power.

Yep. The teams head out to the range to
see how the Gastrophetes compares to the

Hunnic bow.

We've got two moving targets.

You'll have a total of ten arrows.

And if you hit a bullseye, that'll be
considered a kill shot. Pete, for this

test, the Gastrophetes was traditionally
used on foot, so you'll be on foot.

Robert, you're going to be on horseback?

Yeah, no problem.

Will shooting from horseback affect
Robert's accuracy?

Robert, are you ready?

Yeah! On your go, I'm going to trigger
it when you hit the target.

Almost.

Whoa!

Robert, nice shooting, man. Holy
mackerel.

Let the guy enjoy his accomplishment.
Look at the penetration he got.

Beautiful, man. You can see the accuracy
here. Dead center in the chest.

These are all coming at the neck. All
these are pretty much kills. We're

it definitely penetrate at least four or
five inches.

Can Alexander's gastrophytes perform as
well against a moving target?

Far away.

It's a little inconsistent.

We're at... Oh, God. Yeah.

So in 10 minutes, we had... Four hits
and four glancing blows. So the one

that we've learned is that this weapon
takes a very long time to operate. This

is a weapon about hitting hard and
hitting from a distance. Not very

but if it does hit, it's a kill shot.

I'm moving out on horseback with a bow.
I'm not seeing this as any kind of

competition at all.

So how does Alexander's gastrophytes
stack up against Attila's composite bow?

The gas graffiti is cool.

It does provide some power, but it takes
way too long to load. I was in awe of

the Hunbo demo. I've never seen riding
like that. It was amazing.

The fact that the Hunbo can be shot
while riding away from your target is of

tremendous value.

I think the Hunbo is going to be a game
changer in the simulation.

A long -range weapon.

The Edge goes to Attila the Hun for that
composite bow.

Alexander totally should have stayed
home and just tried on his fancy, frilly

little skirt that he likes to wear so
much.

Alexander's got a lot of tools in his
war chest.

He's going to use those tools to defeat
Attila the Hun.

As the battle tightens, Team Alexander
retaliates with a stunning spear.

Alexander the Great, or Attila the Hun,
who is the deadliest warrior?

Back in the Fight Club, we're rewriting
history.

Pitting the ancient world's most famous
general, Alexander the Great, against

its most infamous warrior king, Attila
the Hun.

Team Alexander believes history is on
their side.

Alexander the Great proved to the world
that he was the deadliest warrior

through his conquest.

The Huns had one tactical weapon system.

archery. That was it. Most people view
the Huns as only archers. What they

didn't realize is the Huns actually
carried a fairly large variety of

Tools that the Huns used every day in
their lives, they were also using in

battle.

As Team Attila prepares to unleash their
remaining arsenal, UFC champ Rashad

Evans is back to test the power of
Alexander's primary weapon.

12 feet of impaling agony.

It was a devastating lance, about 12
feet long, tremendous spear tip.

Alexander used it from horseback.

So imagine the weight of this massive Z
-Stone combined with the force of the

rider and the speed of the horse, all
that focused on this ship.

That's insane.

It's going to defeat armor. It's going
to go through guys' bodies.

Now, I noticed they have two different
tips. Why is that?

The butt spike, mainly for
counterbalance.

Rashad will plunge the Z -Stone into the
carcass of a pig, mirroring the force

of Alexander the Great himself.

The reason why we're using pig is
because it simulates human flesh, human

human muscle very, very well. It's
strung up on a zip line.

It'll be moving down towards this
direction. When you're ready, thrust

the target. Okay. Understood? You're
dead, pig.

Rashad, are you ready?

Ready.

Release the pig!

Now that's bleeding like a stuck pig.

Oh, man.

What did it feel like, Rashad? Man, it
felt like I barely even hit the thing.

So if we take a look at your entry wound
here, it's beautiful form. It's going

right through him. And that blade is so
big that anything in its way, it's just

basically kabobbing it through.

Look at the bend in it.

Oh, nice.

You know, it just felt so clean and
smooth. I didn't even realize that I was

even in a pig until it actually hit my
hand.

According to these numbers, you were
thrusting at roughly 10 feet per second.

It's a good weapon, you know, it goes
right through nice and clean and easy,

know. And Alexander primarily used the Z
-Stomp on horseback.

How effective would it be against a Hun
soldier?

To find out, the team sets up a test
stand -in.

But this one's being dressed for the
kill.

In Attila's leather Lamela armor.

You gonna ride in, Kendall?

With a Z -Stone in your hand, hit it
with a Z -Stone mid -flight. There's

accounts of Alexander Spear going
absolutely through his opponents, even

armored.

Randall, are you ready?

There's the tip.

Now that's very impressive. Not only did
he go through armor, he went right

through what would be the sternum. This
kills instantly.

I think the secret here is that there's
so much velocity in the horse that you

literally just let the weapon do its job
and let go.

No, that's absolutely it. I just get the
horse going, he knows what to do.

Okay, so if he starts an effective
weapon, what are you going to use to

it? The most effective weapon to counter
it is what Attila would call his medium

-range weapon, the lasso.

The lasso.

20 feet of strangulation.

Very multi -directional. You can ride
next to somebody, you can come up behind

them, tag them around the neck as you're
pulling away and getting out of any

kind of threat.

Our experts bring in a stand -in to see
if a swift horseman like Attila could

catch Alexandrov's guard and kill him
with a lasso.

Okay, Sean, we've got a load cell inside
the chest that will measure the neck

tension force.

Anything over 200 pounds is basically a
kill shot. It causes what's called a

hangman's fracture.

Anything above 70 pounds would also
crush the windpipe. You ready?

I'm ready to go. Let's get started.

Three, two, one.

Did Attila break Alexander's neck with
his lasso?

The amazing thing here is we saw over 70
pounds. The windpipe is crushed, and we

got over 200 pounds of load in tension
on the neck, causing the hangman's

fracture. So this guy's done.

No, actually, if you can continue to
live with a crushed windpipe, your body

will actually find ways to still
oxygenate. The Ziston was 100 % kill.

Not 100%. If this gets me, I have a
chance of saving myself.

Zetan gets you.

Good luck.

The weak warrior has the deadlier mid
-range weapon.

The lasso was interesting. I was afraid
of the lasso, but it didn't awe me. But

the Zetan is fearsome. I have to give
the edge to Zetan.

Mid -range weapon. The edge goes to
Alexander Zetan.

Attila the Hun or Alexander the Groot?

Our team of experts is inching closer to
determining which one of these major

military leaders will be the deadliest
warrior.

There's a lot of things that Alexander
needs to be afraid of when it comes to

Attila. Not only is the man fearless,
not only does he enjoy killing, but the

man is a master of his weapon style.

Attila is no match for Alexander.

Alexander can think outside the box and
adapt to the situation that Attila's

going to bring.

If you were going to fight him, he was
going to annihilate you.

Alexander's close -range weapon of
execution was an ingeniously crafted

This sword was responsible.

for Alexander's conquest.

The copus, made for loving limbs and
hacking off heads.

This will take off your head. This will
cut out legs.

This is a cutting weapon.

It's called the copus because it's based
on the ancient Greek verb to cut.

And it looks a lot different than some
swords I'm sure you've seen.

It's got the forward curved blade.

It kind of tapers uniquely.

And it's got a thick spot right here.
That flare in the blade puts the weight

right where it needs to be to cut.

But Attila has a blade with a cut that's
just as damning.

The Sword of Mars.

A legendary blade forged from a
meteorite.

Lest by the God of War.

One of the great capabilities of this
weapon is its thrusting.

You've got so much weight packed behind
such a small point and that puts a lot

of force behind it. Thrust down at the
ground for the foot, thrust forward, you

know, for the belly, thrust down at the
head, you know, you spear somebody's

head. It's just got that wonderful kill
feature.

To see which warrior's sword is more
effective on the battlefield, both teams

will take on multiple targets from
horseback.

You'll be starting with your horses just
on the top there.

Come in, take out these moving targets,
and then these two targets here. So four

targets in total, two dynamic, two
static, and you will be timed.

Attila's group's going to go first.
Saddle up.

Robert, you ready?

Ready. Three, two, one.

Nice job.

How deeply did the Sword of Mars slash?

So it basically would go through the
cervical muscles, hit the spine, enough

an injury to basically cause... Your
throat split.

That one went all the way through. Yeah.
Now this is a lot more impressive. You

can actually see it kind of filleted
straight through.

Decapitation. This is a decapitation.
Yes.

This is pretty impressive. If you look
at this carcass here, the cow ribs are

much larger than human ribs.

And you can see fractures the ribs and
goes in at least a depth of penetration

of almost four inches, which is well
enough to cause significant injury and

cause death.

What about the other one?

And when you go beyond three inches,
you're hitting vital organs. So that's

counts. And so with that strike, it is
definitely a kill. So four kills in 34

seconds. Alexander's group, you know
what you're up against.

Okay, Kendall, we're alive.

Understood?

The horse is nodding. Okay.

Three, two, one, go.

Kendall, you beat the time, but did you

There's no need for the doctor to
comment on that one. This one, well.

Is that a full cleave?

I mean, this is definitely a good
example of something that would get to

spinal cord and cause a kill. Kill
number two.

It's a deciding factor.

We're seeing a laceration right here
that's going along the rib, not through

rib. So it's not fracturing the rib, but
it's not that deep.

So this would be maybe a collapsed lung.
It might nick the heart and cause

death, but I can't guarantee it. So,
doctor, this may be a person that's

This may be a person that's alive. Wow.

Okay. I would say nice tattoo, nothing
else. Nice tattoo.

Nice tattoo.

Here again, we're seeing a laceration
that goes through the soft tissue.

Down to the rib, right where the muscle
bed is, but it doesn't go beyond that.

And if it's not going beyond that, we're
not hitting organs.

We're not hitting anything that's vital
that's going to cause death. And that's

what we're looking for. We're not
looking for pain. We're looking for

this does not kill.

Attila's group, a little bit slower, but
four solid kills.

And in this game, we go for the kills.

We're giving this test to Attila's
group.

In close range weapon, the edge goes to
Attila.

for the Sword of Mars.

With the testing complete, each warrior
has the advantage for the final battle.

I think Attila the Hun's weapons are
just more reliable.

Especially the long -range weapons.

I gotta go with Alexander the Great.

Although these warriors are very, very
different, the results of the test came

out very even. So this is a fight I
can't wait to see.

Our team tested a lethal arsenal for
each fighter.

The special weapons, Attila's Sibian
Axe, went up against Alexander's

For long -range weapons, we pitted
Attila's composite bow against

gastro -beaties.

The Hun bow can take its targets
wherever it wants on the battlefield at

speed the rider seems to want.

For mid -range weapons, we compared
Attila's lasso against Alexander's Z

The Z -star's killability is immediate.

Where's the lasso? You first have to get
it around the man's neck before you can

do his job.

Finally, in close -range weapons,
Attila's Sword of Mars.

Fight against Alexander's copus.

The copus caused laceration, things that
can be repaired.

The Sword of Mars went deeper.

Attila the Hun.

I've managed to incorporate all of the
data that we got in the simulation. It's

time to see definitively who is the
deadliest warrior.

These two great warriors will be
assisted by a small squad of men.

The battle will be run a thousand times
in a simulation program developed by

Slytherin Studios.

These two warriors most certainly never
met in history, and yet they're going to

meet and settle something inside this
computer today.

Ah!

For a thousand battles, Attila Hun was
victorious with 596 kills to Alexander's

404. What happened here is that Attila's
weapons were effective in both the long

range and the short range. Where
Alexander was effective was that medium

the Zestan. He wasn't able to do the
right damage all the way through the

simulation at all of those ranges.

I'm a bit surprised that Attila won. I
didn't think he had that much skill.

But the test results speak for
themselves.

So what? Alexander is still Alexander
the Great.

Alexander is the truth.

I don't even know why Alexander even
came out to play. He just got his butt

kicked and got sent home crying to mom.
