Kill, kill!

So much happens between when we break the huddle and when the ball is snapped

that I don't think people quite grasp.

Yahtzee, can't see her right tight. Strong right slot. F -hover. 35 million.

Another f -huddle. Opera.

I'm looking at the play clock.

How much time do I have?

Do I have 12 seconds to operate this play?

I'm kind of peaking the play clock, seeing if we're low.

Because that completely changes your mindset.

So we often call two plays in the huddle. Sometimes we'll have packages

there's three or four plays that, you know, I have in my pocket that I can

to. But then sometimes you go up there and you see something that would be

and you just get to it. And that's rep the bank in the past where it's, oh,

play was awesome against this defense or this front.

Let's get to it here.

Aaron, Aaron, Aaron, Aaron, Aaron. Hey, go, go, hey, go, go, go. FU, Chuck

Vegas.

Then I look for the safeties.

Okay, split safety, but is it a cloud look or is it a quarters look? Is the

corner off? Is he pressed? Is he going to post snap? Is it too high?

Is he getting rotation to him? Does that mean something in this defense?

then I'm looking at the defensive front and seeing what the protection call is

going to be. You're looking for pressure indicators.

Tell me if they're blitzing or tell me what the coverage is. Once you kind of

assess that, okay, I think it's this coverage, I think there's no pressure or

it's this pressure, then are we going to leave the first play on or the second

play on? The first play is not what we want. We want to get to the second play.

You'll see me do that.

Kill, kill.

Hey, kill!

Kill, kill!

A lot of teams use can, can.

Hey, can, can!

Can, can!

Kill, kill!

Alert, alert, alert!

We kill in the first play, we're getting to the second play. Do we have any

motion shifts on the play?

Tight end may jump from the left to the right. I'll say move or shift.

Checking the leverages of all the outside players or the outside or the

I'd like to let the back know, hey, look right here. Hey, look left here.

All under the gun of a play clock as to how quickly can we process this all.

Then depending on what cadence we're on, let's say we're on one.

You'll hear white 80, white 80 said hut.

All of that takes place typically within 25 seconds and sometimes lower

than the ball's not.

38 -38 as we head to overtime.

Yep. Has there ever been a bigger coin toss? The way this game has gone, both

defenses have been really offensively has been attracting.

One of the most up and down games that I've ever been a part of.

Obviously, Ramar is incredible.

Pressure from Hendrickson. Who chases?

Wow. Wow.

Wow. We were playing pretty dang good on offense.

Baltimore won the toss and obviously took the ball.

If the Ravens score a touchdown on this drive, it's over.

First and 10, 39 of Cincinnati.

Oh, it's picked up.

It's picked up.

It's picked up.

I think my jaw dropped on the sideline. I couldn't believe that happened.

And now the Bengals take over. And a field goal.

We're in field goal range, and so you just try not to take a negative play in

that spot, and hopefully we can make a kick.

And so here comes the kicker, Evan McPherson, 53 yards to win it.

Come on, Ev.

Nope, he missed it.

Wide left.

As a leader, some guys like to yell and scream at people that

didn't do their job or had a missed assignment, but I've never been really a

believer in that because then when I fuck up, then what's going to happen?

I'm not going to yell at myself, and I wouldn't want somebody to yell at me, so

I don't think that's a great way to go about it.

Winds of beauty against the Bengals.

We're playing really well in offense.

You know, I don't know what the league stats are, but we're 1 -4.

That's not where we want to be.

Everybody thinks the Buccaneers team that have been a little bit of a buzzsaw

this season are going to go into Atlanta on a short week and do their thing.

Might I remind them, Kirk Cousins is balling.

Bro, I'm a weirdo.

I'm an old guy.

I'm a nerd.

The older I get, the weirder I get.

I like Coldplay.

Yeah, I like Coldplay. One of the best concerts I've ever been to was Coldplay.

Creed performs tonight in Alpharetta.

And it's hard to not be there.

Yeah, so I call these computation notebooks.

This is the latest one I just started. I'm on page 11 of 153.

When I got to Washington as a rookie, I noticed Kyle Shanahan had this exact

notebook where he took notes.

And I decided to copy him.

But this is kind of my life. I put my whole week's prep on this notebook.

I draw the plays on this notebook. I take all the notes the coaches give me.

I take my own notes.

Even like if something pops into my head during a meeting that has nothing to do

with football, I'll even write it down in the margin just as a way to, okay,

know, let's circle back on that later, but at least it's not distracting me

the meeting.

So I don't throw them away as I use them. You know, when we play Tampa, I go

back to my notes from 2023 playing Tampa week one.

Hey, Storch, Storch, Storch!

Here it is, Tampa Bay.

Head coach, the coordinator, Todd Bowles, 3 -4 base defense. They also

-3. And then just have the numbers of players and then just a bunch of notes,

run game, draw and play.

But I kind of broke down because Coach Bowles is so multiple.

I remember in my notes going, well, timeout. Let's try to say, like, what

the lead coverages? And I wrote down, you know, he's a fire zone guy.

He's a Tampa guy. He'll play spot drop cover three. He'll mix in quarters.

mix in 11 hole.

I heard John Gruden say on

his YouTube channel, he said, I'd rather go to the dentist for a filling than

play Todd Bowles on a short week. And I thought that was a good summary because

he pressures so much and he does it from a variety of looks that on a short

week. You just don't have a lot of time to talk about it, to cover it, to go

back and look at what you're going to end up facing.

And so there's going to be unscouted looks, and you know there could be free

runners. And when you have free runners, it can ruin the game. It can be a sack

fumble. It can be a disastrous outcome.

Tampa's the reigning division champs, and they've won it now a few years in a

row. Huge sense of urgency to be able to take the foul.

Hey, Ra, I just...

I just personally don't think I'm playing well enough.

And there's nobody to blame.

It's not my ankle.

Yeah, Raheem and I, after sending that voice memo, I went into Raheem's office,

you know, middle of the week and just said, you know, what do you see as a

defensive -minded head coach, but also as a guy who's coached receivers and

knows offensive football, you know, you have this unique perspective.

The voice memos are just who he is.

It's the obsession to be great that Kirk Cousman has in his body. You know, he

came to my office.

We were just kind of chatting about what we had to do the next couple of weeks

in order to move us forward. And on that night, he showed us everything we

talked about in that meeting.

It is the first NFL game of October, and it starts week five of the season as

the Atlanta Falcons take the field at Mercedes -Benz Stadium, led by Kirk

Cousins on Thursday Night Football.

Tonight's a big opportunity against a very aggressive, blitzing, attacking

defense.

Second and ten.

Pass is caught over the middle. It's caught inside the top of the end zone.

I thought that was really what we did all game was send pressures, he's going

junk it up, and we just have to see it, own it, and be decisive.

It's the first time this year that we've seen Cousins in sync and on time with

his receivers.

And making the grab at the goal line.

Touchdown.

This is what Atlanta Falcons fans envisioned when Kirk Cousins

died.

Are you kidding me? Nice shot, one!

We had a rhythm. Felt like the wind was at our back.

I felt like my teammates were decisive.

They were separating.

They were making plays after the catch. It just felt more like what I envisioned

our offense being.

Third down and goal.

Baker throws to the corner, and that's caught.

Baker's playing good.

I took a mindset as the game was going, even in the first half, that, okay, it's

probably going to be an outscore them type of game rather than, you know, get

frustrated that, you know, we weren't able to pull away. I just saw it as a

opportunity, you know, that, hey, if we have to go score 40, this could be fun.

All right, we're down a touchdown.

Let's go put the ball in the end zone.

Now you got a fourth down and four.

Let's go, man. Let's go. You want it or not.

You want it or not. Let's go.

Let's be uncommon, man.

Tiger.

Turbo's on.

The outside. The pass is caught.

Brick and a tackle.

Into the end zone.

Darnell moving.

Yeah, baby. That's why you do this.

That's why you do this.

Woo -hoo -hoo -hoo. Woo -hoo -hoo. You give me one. You give me. Woo -hoo -hoo.

On fourth and five. at the 15.

Number 18 dials up Darnell Mooney for another touchdown.

All right, we got one. We got to get another one.

We got to go get another one, Jake.

I like this one.

All flagging, sir.

There we go.

And a beat drop.

Have you ever heard?

Yeah,

last week was my first time noticing it.

I mean, look at this place, man. This place is rocking.

Oh, man. I love it. I love it. This place is rocking.

We'll give them something to cheer about.

With 1 .12 to go and no timeout, Atlanta trailing three, first and ten at its

20. Here we go, man.

Let's do this.

Once you get down under, you know, 25 seconds, 20 seconds, you

start entering a different mindset of managing the clock. We call it an ozone

situation where the ball either has to go to the end zone or out of bounds.

The ball cannot be completed in bounds.

But the defense knows that too.

And I think that was a debate from our coaches was, hey, if we send sideline

routes here because we need a few more yards to get to a makeable field goal,

they know that and the defense is going to prevent us from getting to the

sideline. And so then the thought was, well, with 12 seconds, it's really

but we could rip a ball.

And if we're fast enough to get down and clock it, we could throw it in bounds.

It doesn't have to be an ozone situation. So that immediately flipped

called the play that he did to go from ozone to down, down clock.

Hey, listen to me, listen to me. Different plan, different plan. We have

able to silent clock this very fast, okay? And then silent clock as fast as

can on 101, ready?

Okay?

Ready! What's up?

Snap, cousin, looking, throw, over the middle, catches me.

Great London.

Seven seconds. Six seconds. They're trying to rush to the line. Down to four

seconds. Three seconds. Two seconds. A spike with one.

They executed perfectly.

It's about as tight as you can make it. And it would have been probably second

guess if it didn't go our way.

Hey, we got more football.

That is fucking awesome. We got to go win this overtime. That is fucking

awesome, boy. We got to go win this overtime. That is fucking awesome.

Down, down clock was tight.

I mean, 12 seconds is about as tight as you could ever do it.

We were playing with fire a little bit there with only one second left.

Do we go to overtime or do we go home?

52 yards.

And it is gone.

We're going to go to overtime at 30.

The Falcons get the ball first.

Let's go, man. We got to get seven.

Got to get seven.

So a career high in passing yardage for Cousins tonight.

That's how you fucking just stay resilient.

What a night for these Atlanta Falcons.

And what a night for the old vet, Kirk Cousins.

That ends up being 509 yards and four touchdowns.

509 yards is a Falcon record.

Much respect. Thank you. You're a lot to prepare for.

Hey, you're playing at a really high level, man. You're the real deal. You're

twitchy. You're fast. You make good decisions.

You lead well.

And it was a great idea, man, to do the hurricane relief. So thanks for

including me. You balled tonight.

Thanks, guys.

You know your ass ain't jump.

Good shit.

Hell yeah. Good job, bro.

Oh, boy. Here he goes.

His alter ego.

A little swag surfing for the 36 -year -old.

I wanted to encourage our fans, gas up our fans to be like, hey, that was

awesome. We need more of that. The goal for me is, can we get up ahead in the

fourth quarter more often so that the place is going nuts when they play that

song? Good job.

Great job.

We'll take it, man. We'll take it.

Lions beat the break off of the Cowboys 47 -9. The way Jared Goff is playing,

you can't dismiss him. Dan Campbell had those brothers playing like rough

riders. It was trick play after trick play. The Lions refusing to let up. This

is the best offense that they've had.

What was your favorite part about the Dallas game?

I just want a score like that. I think I wish every game could have a score like

that. Yeah. Personally.

Me too.

Pressure, though, on Goff. Stands in, going deep. He's got Jamison Williams

the touchdown!

When I look at this offense, it reminds me of what great offense should be in

the NFL. I'd love to be the quarterback in this offense.

It's just so much fun.

Yeah, too bad, Tom.

You're retired.

It is fun to play quarterback in our offense, and I'm given a lot of

and control.

That's the work right there, buddy. That's the work right there.

and giving the keys to a lot of what we do.

You know, I appreciate Tom saying that, but, Tom, you stay in the booth, and you

can keep calling games, and it's been fun.

What was your favorite play we had, though?

I liked the hook and ladder.

Wait, was that a hook and ladder? The one to Panay?

No, the one to Sam. That was, like, kind of a flea flicker.

Here's a little trickery. Brown back to Goss.

Flea flicker's got Laporta.

Wide open for D 'Angelo's touchdown.

What's the difference between a flea flicker and a hook and ladder?

Well,

hook and ladder is throw it to a receiver, he pitches it to somebody.

The flea flicker, they give it back to me, and then I throw it to a receiver.

I mean, they're pulling out all the stops laterally to their right tackle.

Come on, if you're not having fun watching that, you don't have a

That was my last game of my 20s, babe. I know. I was going out with a bang. I

sent out my 20s with a bang.

And now, hopefully, the first game as a 30 -year -old will be really good. Now

we go on the road to Minnesota.

Yeah. It's a lot of away games. I believe them and Kansas City are the

undefeated teams in the league at this point.

They're 5 -0.

We're 4 -1. So, really, it's for first place in the division at this point.

Does that make you nervous?

No. It makes me a little nervous. I can't wait. It'll be fun.

This is what you work for.

You got to keep a level head, babe. Got to keep a level head.

Because you want to get hot when you... That's right. We want to get hot at the

end. Yeah. That's right. But what if you just stay hot the whole year? That'd be

great, too. But it's kind of hard to do.

It's very hard.

We're so excited to get a chance to see this game first place right now for the

Vikings. The Detroit Lions are the defending NFC North champions. They won

title in this building last December.

The top division of the NFL, but these two are battling for first.

The NFC North is really good.

We've got to bring it every week. You know, you slip up one week, you can lose

first place in division.

Kristen said, like, right behind us.

Oh, no.

Is that good or bad?

Might be distracting. It's right there.

I don't think I've ever sat so close before.

Oh, God.

It might be a distraction.

It was crazy being right there, seeing the action so close.

Jared Goff, he's played a lot of really good football in his career, but this is

the best person we've seen of him. I mean, he is the best quarterback in

football. Hearth to bliss, and obviously any Brian Flores -led defense is going

to be a big part of the matchup. Coach Flores was the defensive coordinator for

the Patriots when they beat us in Super Bowl.

He was also the head coach of the Dolphins when I had four turnovers in

2020 while I was playing for the Rams.

Ball comes out.

Their Dolph has not been this lost in a long, long time.

So he's gotten after me plenty, but I got a ton of respect for him. He's a

good coordinator.

They bring pressure with Van Tinkle. He gets the ball.

This is Minnesota defense.

Everything's about suffocating you.

They bring a lot of pressure. They put a lot of heat on you. They make you think

under pressure.

They make you figure what's going on on their defensive side under pressure.

St. Brown able to maneuver the first down.

Man, you got to get off my ass.

They bring six. They drop one.

Launching drop over the top for St. Brown.

Yes! Let's go!

And Detroit has taken the lead.

Do that shit again!

We had a great plan. We were willing to beg them to blitz. Please bring your

pressure. We'll hit stuff over the top.

against the pressure and blitz.

Goff has been so good, and he was good that time.

They're the best at doing it, but we were having a good time on that day.

Another pressure look here, and Goff can see if he can keep the excellence

going. Four on the rush.

Goff.

Underneath. He's got a man at a first down to Raymond. He gets away from a

defender and scores!

Let's go, baby!

Let's go, baby!

That's quarterback play at its highest level.

The road division victories are so huge.

I mean, they really are. You get three of them a year.

It's hard to win those games, and when you do, it creates that forward momentum

effect, and you start to roll, and you start to really feel like you've got a

good chance to keep on winning.

The Lions overtake the Vikings for the top spot in the NFC North.

Jared Goff is the best quarterback in the league right now. This guy is the

leader in the clubhouse for MVP.

God, this guy reminds me a little bit of Tom Brady.

Let's go, T. Joe!

Somehow there's this one fossil that proved Darwin's theory of evolution.

It's called the Archaeopteryx, and we got to see there's like 12 of them.

in the world we got to see one of those and we got to see the little old lady

that freaking works on it grinding we went to the natural history museum they

took us behind the scenes and showed us some really cool stuff it's like uh like

a library of fossils but they don't show everybody else it was like you go to

the shoe store and they're like maybe we have it in the back and it was like all

the fossils back there it's pretty sick and they had the

The career, like, field guy that goes and finds them talking to us about it

pretty cool.

They didn't have any eggs.

Yeah, they did have some eggs.

Why were fossils on my mind?

I don't know, because they're cool. When aren't fossils on your mind?

They go back millions of years.

That's sick.

I tried to buy some fossils, too. They didn't let me.

Joe Burrow and the Bengals looking to bounce back after a tough loss to the

Ravens. Can they get it right against the Giants?

What a beautiful sight on a Sunday night. It's the Big Apple. And across

Hudson River, MetLife Stadium.

If you think Kansas City and Baltimore are the best in the AFC, a lot of people

do. Cincinnati is this close to beating both of them one play away.

But they didn't. They're 1 -4.

And as they used to say, it's getting late early for the Bengals.

If you go 1 -5, you're not out of it, but you have to win a lot of games to

back into it.

Four in a row is not easy.

So you got to get this one.

Here facing third and 18. Alert! Alert!

Alert!

Joe taking off. Oh, he's got a tight room.

Take it all away.

He's in for the touchdown.

What the fuck are we talking about?

He just tucked in. He showed some speed that I think a lot of people around the

league are saying, really?

Joe Burrow runs like that? I didn't know you were that fast. Nobody does.

Everybody forgets. All of a sudden you were off, dude.

Nobody gives me credit for that.

My longest run of my career.

Longest central run you've ever done.

I think I probably had a 70 or 80 yarder in elementary school.

Coach Sam had given me a video a long time ago of a quarterback sneak that he

had that was longer.

Running is a strength of his.

He can move around, and he likes to think he's really fast.

He's always telling me what was his mile power on that particular run.

I was like 19 .9, I think.

I wish I could have hit 20 on that.

We are minutes away from the Bengals and the Philadelphia Eagles on a whiteout

Sunday here at Paycor Stadium.

A lot going on here, as always. There's plenty of food, and there's drinks in

the coolers back there.

I've got to get my jacket back on. What do you think?

I got this in New Orleans.

It's gotten to be such a big tailgate. I'm sure there's, like, wedding

There's tailgate crashers.

My first year starting in college, my mom was coming to every game still. She

was still working, so that was tough, but she still made it. My dad was still

coaching, so he wasn't able to. And then he retired after that year, and then

they started both coming to every game. That was fun.

And I think my dad realized that he really liked just doing that and going

tailgating and watching me play. And so it's been interesting to see him and his

personality change from when he was coaching to what it is now.

We're like, Joe, we got tall boys.

Yeah, yeah.

Somehow. We had a tall dad. I'm still trying to figure out who Joe's dad is.

I'm not getting any DNA tests. I don't want my feelings hurt.

Nice shoes, too.

Wow.

Oh, my goodness.

That's a whole way to keep going. I do.

I mean, come on.

Well, with fashion played the joke, the comedy.

Is that because of you?

Of course, yeah. Yeah, of course.

When he was little, little, he was very, very, very particular about his

clothes. Yeah.

And especially the way they felt. Like, if it was itchy, he didn't want to wear

it. Like, every tag, like all of that. Like, a lot of kids.

Yeah.

Like, once he got into high school, he was like, ah, cargo shorts, T -shirt.

Sweatshirt, that's it.

And then all of a sudden you turn into this fashionista.

Cincinnati is trying to get back to the 500 mark. The offense, it hasn't been

dynamic by any stretch, but they're winning games of late. And Joe Burrow

certainly has been a big reason why.

Joe looks big in those white uniforms.

Yeah. When you start to win, everybody gets a little more excited to come into

work. Winning feels good. Losing sucks.

Quick pass.

Chase with the catch. He's got the first down.

Caught by Chase. Gets a block on the edge.

Now the Bengals find themselves in the red zone.

Come on, Joe.

We'll probably throw this down.

Drops back to throw. Begins rolling to the right. He's at the 12 -yard line.

Throws him to the end zone.

A leaping catch and a touchdown.

Boom.

That was a 17 -play, 70 -yard drive that took 10 minutes and 4

seconds.

He went 11 for 12 on the opening drive.

Good job on the checkdowns on that drive.

We'll take it.

Do it all day long.

You

guys

can fight over it if you want to.

Back to throw.

Oh, look out.

Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God.

He's rolling right. Now throw.

running to the 30, and he's got a first down.

Joe Burrow buying time and delivering the strike.

It got deflected into the hands of T .J. Gardner -Johnson.

That was definitely unlucky as hell.

Everything going Philadelphia's way.

Darn it. Darn it, darn it, darn it, darn it, darn it.

Ah, suck.

Yes, sir, you're two. Great job, bro.

The Bengals were hoping to maybe climb out of the hole and be four and four.

Now they're going to find themselves at a 3 -5 mark in two games under .500.

What do you feel like today as a result of the way it went down? What does it

mean?

We're not good enough. We're not good enough. So we've got to get better.

How close are you to the hole being too deep to dig out of?

I think 10 wins usually gets you in.

So we've got to win.

Seven out of nine.

That's doable.

It's doable.

So we'll go from there.

Okay, Kurt?

Yep. Okay, I'm ready for you.

Let's go.

All right.

My name is Catherine. I'll be doing a great clip today.

Thanks. You're welcome.

I go to one place, and that's Great Clips, because I can just go on the app.

How are you doing today? I'm well. How are you?

Amazing. I can see what the wait is.

If the wait time is under 15 minutes, I just sign up, and then I can just drive

there and walk right in and get right in the chair.

This is what I'm looking for.

Okay. Just like a one, one, and then you fade it up. Okay. You got it. Does that

sound good? Sounds good. Now I start just... holding up a picture, I took a

picture from one of the headshots from a Falcons game program, and I just say,

can you do this?

And that usually helps eliminate any gray area.

Well, I've been trusting gray clips for a long time.

Oh, well, that's a good thing.

I kind of live all over the country. Oh, do you?

Okay. Just kind of Google the nearest gray clips and make it work.

Let's see.

It's hard to have, like, a go -to barber when you're always on the go.

The biggest challenge is when you don't have the same person. So, like, great

clips in Invergrove, Minnesota, great clips in Holland, Michigan, great clips

Suwannee, Georgia.

You just don't know what you're going to get. But when you keep changing who

cuts your hair, it's a bit of a rush because you don't quite know what you're

going to get. This is true.

Everybody needs a little rush in their lives, and I get mine.

When I go to great places to get my hair cut.

Is that satisfactory?

It's outstanding. Wonderful.

Do you know that Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons are winning games by any

means necessary?

And Kirk Cousins won for 509 yards.

I assume everybody in Atlanta is excited about what's taking place. In that

conversation about Pennix getting drafted number eight overall, how's it

to go down there?

Kirk's swag surfing, okay, after a game.

So I certainly remember the song when it first came out back when I was in

college. But we were in the stadium playing the Saints. It was a TV timeout.

was the fullest quarter. It was a tight game.

They played it.

And the whole stadium was going left, right, left, right. And I

tucked that away like, all right, if we win this game, that was a pretty cool

moment.

My teammate used to say, walk into your trap, take over your trap, was the line

he would say. And so that's kind of what it is. You go into someone else's

stadium and you try to...

You try to assert yourself. That's what everybody's trying to do when they go on

the road. It's hard to do, but that's certainly the goal.

Look at Kirk Cousins, voting bankroll.

I didn't think I'd see the day, Cam Newton.

Walk on your truck and take over your truck.

And everybody from Atlanta will appreciate that. You dig what I'm

really know that Kirk Cousins has engulfed the culture in

Atlanta.

I love Kirk. It's because he knows how to engage. When you come to a town, you

got to be a part of the town. You really got to know what you're into. And I

feel like he stepped in that thing and doing it like it's supposed to be done.

The Falcons are going to go to 4 -2.

They'll be 3 -0 in the NFC South and 4 -0 against the NFC.

Walk in your trap and take over your trap. We walk in your trap, take over

trap. We walk in your trap, take over your trap. We grind, we strap.

We fight, no cap.

We walk in your trap, take over your trap. We walk in your trap, take over

trap. They want this to look just like it was in Week 5.

They want this to be a shootout.

Fitz is in for the touchdown.

And now floating one for Darnell Moody and a perfect strike to take the lead.

Just continues to terrorize Tampa.

Fourth touchdown pass of the day for Cousins. How about that, boys and girls?

How about that, boys and girls? Getting back to the slick route? How do we like

that? He's number five in the progression.

There's one.

Yeah,

it's all about in this league, walking into someone's trap and taking over

trap, and that's real.

Gun, taser, right, FIP.

Red Tonka, kill, Miller, F -knife, burst.

Ooh, gun, taser, right, FIP. Red Tonka, kill, Miller, F -knife, burst.

Like, I don't get how you just remembered that after saying that.

On Friday nights, we're in the house. Maybe we go get dinner earlier in the

week, but later in the week, we're usually here.

hanging out, watching a show, and she'll help me with the play calls.

I had no clue this part of football was even a thing until I met Jared.

There's a million words, and I have been reading them for how long? Three years?

Yeah. And I still don't know what they mean or what it has to do with anything.

There's just a lot of gun rights.

Yeah, there's a lot of gun rights.

She helps me learn it, though. It really is like I have to study when I get home

from the facility in 15, 20 minutes, whatever it may be, to give yourself a

refresher, make sure the words come off your tongue how you want them to, and it

helps me. I have to make sure I do it.

Pick a long one. Pick a fun one, whatever your favorite one is.

She'll come along and she'll be like, oh, I like that one because it's got a

funny word in it. Yeah, I'll see a funny word and I'll like it.

Okay, Diesel Wright, why home? Fast fact.

Do you want me to keep reading? Yep, keep reading. Zeke Miller, Why Sail the

Shallow Burst. Yep, these are right. Why Home Fast Fact, Zeke Miller, Why Sail

the Shallow Burst. That is a long one.

So then I'm hearing it, and then I'm trying to see it, and then I'm saying

you know?

Because one thing, like, rope memorization doesn't work. If you just

the words in a row, that doesn't work. You've got to be able to, like, actually

visualize it and close your eyes and see it and then be able to say it. And by

Sunday, it's second nature. And then start fresh the next day and fill it all

for seven more days.

It's a bunch of jumble mojo to me. And Quincy does a good job, too. Yeah, he's

always there for emotional support. He's doing a good job. Okay, ready?

We've got to get a play called Quincy in. I know.

No, you like this one. Do that one. Which one? That's a good one, the last

Okay. Stem left squeeze X dash purple red bus.

Yeah. Why would I like that one? Because it's funny.

Stem left squeeze X dash purple red bus. That's a halfback pass.

I don't know what that means.

Half backpack Montgomery throws it Wait, what do you mean on that play like you

throw a flip a 10 and then he throws it Oh, I like that. You guys should run

that this week.

I Thought the Titans were a lot tougher than they may have seemed on paper They

came into our game with a not so good record, but I thought their defense

great

they fought hard they came up the field they were looking to get after me it

was

pretty

painful i mean it was an ankle roll all right uh rolled my ankle pretty good i

knew when i did it i was like i was gonna hurt for a few weeks

I've always said if I'm functional and able to do my job, there's no pain that

won't play through.

Tight, tight, tight, tight.

If I'm out there and I'm physically able to play, regardless of what injury or

pain I have, I'm going to do it.

180 with it. Takes the snap, turns, fakes the give, throws, got a man wide

Touchdown, Detroit Lions.

Ankle feels better now.

That's awesome.

Holy smokes. It does hurt, though, bro. I'm sure it does. Like, running is

really painful. Anything else is fun.

Here you go, Demo. Purple -red bus here, okay?

Hey, float right, naughty, fast back. I'll snap this a little later for you,

okay? We got purple -red bus on one.

Purple -red bus?

Yeah, I like that.

I completely forgot about that come game time because half the time those, you

know, fun plays don't ever make it.

But I, like, didn't even know what was happening. And, of course, it turned out

perfectly. Golf up under center, single back Montgomery.

Jared Tate tosses to Montgomery. Run right. He's going to throw it. To the

zone.

Touchdown Detroit Lions.

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

Look at that fucking throw.

Hey, that was a great throw. That was a fucking throw.

That was a great throw.

Oh, and we've been on the other side of this shit.

Like, I wish I could feel bad for people, but I don't. Like, I've had it.

Shit sucks.

Lions their first 6 -1 start since 1956.

It was a little, I was a little nervous right in the beginning.

They were getting to you fast.

They're good.

Yeah. They're a good defense.

Dad, you got your phone?

I got a lot of texting.

I just texted him a picture of it.

Of your ankle? Yeah. Is it bad?

I'll show you.

Jared, oh my God.

You said you wanted to see it. No, I thought you meant like what it looks

in your...

Flits, not your... Why is it going that way?

That doesn't look right.

That does not look right.

I was watching him. There was a little something up. Dad, you knew?

Oh, yeah.

How? Are you going to see me?

I pay attention.

Oh. It's reality.

I hate that.

That is not how a leg should be going.

And when did that happen?

The second drive.

Of the game?

Yeah.

I didn't. I literally had no clue. Sorry.

You didn't see me hobbling out there? No, you looked great and strong.

Do you want to take the mad bill?

Not right now. I'm okay. Thank you.

You know, they're getting beat up left and right, and they're just, like,

pushing through to, like, get through the game.

Sometimes I have to be like, are you actually fine?

Are you really fine?

Because he'll just be like, it's fine. I'll be fine. I'm like, yeah, but, like,

actually, like, I want to get, like, a second opinion.

Feel that? Mm -hmm.

So you can see how the swelling's already kind of present.

See where you can get there?

And just gently... Ready?

Yep. Just gently hold that.

Right there.

Three, two, one.

Good. Relax.

Now, just on your own, just gently move it around. See how that feels.

It's sore.

I start treatment directly after the game. I'm working with Dave, my trainer.

He's been with me now for, shoot, five years, I think. And he's, I joke, he's

secret weapon.

You can see just, you know, kind of how tender it is just to touch. Right.

Obviously, it just happens. So post -injury, the sensitivity of it's going

much higher than normal.

When it happened, I heard it. I was like, oh, shit.

Yeah. I got to help with it.

We don't want this thing to snowball.

Your foot is kind of structurally the other direction.

For it to get way out there, that's significant.
