Well, according to this, the last anyone
saw of Cahill, he was running from an

underground garage of a Chicago Loop
hotel after having shot and killed a

policeman. He got away with $500 ,000
worth of diamonds that he took from a

jewelry salesman. You know, even after
fencing those gems, he could have wound

up with enough of a stake to disappear
somewhere and start a new life for

himself. You think he did that?

That's what I would have done if I
burned a cop.

You know, he never really forgave
himself for not sticking with his

night.

But it says in here that he went back to
the car and radioed for backup units

because he knew Cahill was still in the
hotel.

I know, I know, but he still blamed
himself.

That's why he kept on looking for
Cahill.

It's like a crusade with him. I used to
think it was bananas on the subject, but

you better believe it's my crusade now.

What was the lead that brought Monroe
out here?

Ah, some small -time hood named Tony
Ritter. He jumped bail back in Chicago.

Dad got a call from him last night.
Ritter knew Cahill from the old days.

Anyway, Ritter said he spotted Cahill in
L .A. and he would finger him if Dad

would square things with the parole
authorities.

is find him and lead us to Cahill. It's

The owner's son -in -law.

The story on him is he came from the
Miami area about five years ago, used

money that he got from a sale of a
demolition business, and bought into

Martinson's Supply.

Baloney, he used the money from the
jewel heist for that.

That's very possible.

Because according to that nice southern
gentleman down at the Dade County Hall

of Records, there's nothing to show that
Thomas Brenner ever owned or sold such

a business in Miami.

I think Thomas Brenner's a funny.

Brenner is Walter Cahill, all right?
There cannot be any more doubt about

Seems to fit all right, especially when
you delve into Cahill's record.

Find out that he was once convicted for
a safe blowing.

That ties in with the manner in which
Tony Ritter was killed.

All we have to do is find him.
