Neither did Claire.

sheriff's boat is now.

Yeah, and at that distance, you can't
see everything.

much attention to Sharon Renford.

I probably made one of the biggest
mistakes of my life when I married her.

But do I look like the kind of a man who
would lose his temper to the point that

I would take an oar and brain my wife in
full view of all of those people?

What were you doing out in the boat?

I was trying to show Claire where I
thought we should put some small cabins

along the shore, trying to convince her
that it would pay off.

The outboard had just stalled on me.

If I were to ask Miss Renford, which I
don't intend to, she'd say she used a
