14th, two men posing as city employees

seized a valuable assortment of diamond
jewelry from a store window in St.

Louis, Missouri.

The vehicle used in the brazen robbery,
a light truck stolen from the Public

Works Department, was left at the scene.

A second stolen car, used in the
getaway, was discovered a short time

Illinois. Because the subjects had
crossed state lines, the FBI immediately

entered the case.

As the first step in a major theft
investigation, sources in the diamond

industry were alerted about the stolen
jewelry.
