The brazen robbery of over $1 ,800 ,000
from an armored truck, which included

weekend holiday receipts from a
Louisville, Kentucky amusement park,

one of the largest robberies in the
nation's history and plunged the FBI

one of its most dangerous manhunts, a
search which was to cover thousands of

miles and employ the full resources of
the Bureau.

Because evidence indicated the stolen
money and getaway car had been

across state lines into Indiana,

Special agents of the FBI under
Assistant Director Arthur Ward and

Louis Erskine immediately assumed on
-the -scene supervision of the

investigation.

Mr. Ward?
