On July 6th, the hijacking of an
interstate shipment of furs on a Newark,

Jersey street was to launch the FBI into
one of its most difficult and dangerous

manhunts.

Even as the police officer who had tried
to prevent the robbery fought for his

life, an investigation was begun by
special agents of the FBI, headed by

Inspector Lewis Erskine.

All right, thank you.

Officer Haynes was still critical, but
he was able to give a description of two

of the suspects.

But it was so general that I doubt it'll
be much help.

He did mention that one of them had a
scar.

Did he describe it?

He lapsed into coma before he could
specify.

What about the truck drivers?

They confirmed Officer Haynes'
description of the subject's car.

That's all the information they could
give.

Are there any other details about...
Agents from Unit 5 believe they found a

hijacked car.

About ten miles outside of Newark on a
secondary road turnoff.

It matched the description the officer
gave.

was stolen.

They think they switched to another car
they planted there.
