On September 16th, a federal grand jury
returned an indictment charging ex

-convicts Charles Burnett and Alan Cole
with conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

Burnett's ex -wife, Gloria, was a key
prosecution witness.

It was she who had given the FBI the
details of the plot, including the

of the hideout house in Mobile.

Her testimony had also revealed that the
FBI arrests came only minutes before

the kidnapping was to have taken place.

Burnett and Cole were arraigned at once
before Federal Judge Arnold Rogers.

Let the record show that counsel for the
defendants has waived the reading of

the indictment, charging them with
violation of Title 18, subsection C of

Section 1201, United States Code, in
that defendants conspired to kidnap and

transport in interstate commerce Mrs.
Agnes Laura Hill of the city.
