But before I run these pictures, I want
to fill you in on some background.

There was a hit -and -run case in Oregon
last week. A little old Nisei truck

farming community in the Willamette
Valley.

miles outside of town.

Well, you know how it is with the

Miracles take a little bit longer,
that's all.

And there were some unusual patterns,
which is where these pictures come in.

They consist of Army -filmed interviews
of American survivors of the Bataan

Death March, who were later held captive
in a Japanese POW camp on Luzon.

There's a definite connection with the
hit -and -run case.

These films were taken on the day the
prisoners were liberated.

You'll notice there's one name repeated
over and over.

And on the march for Bataan, were you
given adequate ration?

We didn't get any food at all for five
days, sir.

Not only that, but this dirty louse,
Fujita, this three -star

private, he took every drop of water
that we had and he gave it to his horse.

And when my buddies woke up,

As a commissioned officer, I was given
charge of the camp's work details.

My men were sick, sick and
undernourished.
