like, "You ́re trying to get your money.

Felt like a giant double standard.

I got fired for having an OnlyFans.

but, if anything, to kind of help

reduce the stigma against it and help legitimize OnlyFans

in the eyes of most people in the public.

‐That apology was not satisfactory to some of

the sex workers that I talked to in my reporting.

Well, in part because she ́s still on OnlyFans.

‐I looked this morning, and she had posted

regularly in the last few weeks.

She ́s a case of a celebrity that continues to post.

‐OnlyFans wasn ́t gonna come out and condemn Bella Thorne.

It was unbelievable publicity for them.

‐She was the first sort of celebrity

to disrupt the platform, but I don ́t think she ́ll be the last.

by this tech entrepreneur named Timothy Stokely.

He ́s out of London, in his mid‐30s.

‐There ́s very little known about Tim Stokely.

‐One of the most elusive figures I ́ve ever talked to.

He comes from the camming world. He was mildly successful.

‐OnlyFans is, for Tim Stokely,

the culmination of 10 years of trial and error

at the nexus of pornography, sex work, and social media.

When I spoke with Tim Stokely in late 2020,

he described the only difference between OnlyFans

and other social networks as the payment button.

about its ties to the adult industry

while simultaneously making room for itself to grow further

by attracting mainstream influencers.

‐Well, I think that what sets "Playboy" apart is

the fact that it isn ́t just based on skin.

It is an attempt to incorporate sex into the fabric of society.
