Original subtitles

Oh my god! How did you do that? Stop!

This is unbelievable.

This is... The Carbonaro Effect.

We have some special items at the yard sale today, you know.

We have hidden cameras for 25 bucks each.

You gotta find them.

Five for a hundred.

So did I get here too late or what? Did y 'all just start? Oh, no, we just

started. Yeah.

Yeah. I was playing a game with my uncle on, we try to, you know, because it's

hard to figure out what to price something.

Uh -huh, yeah, yeah. You know, so we always try and guess the exact year that

something was made.

I would expect, you could possibly find something like this still being made

today, but I would probably say no more than 1960.

1960? I would think. Yeah, that does look like 1960.

Uh -huh.

Yeah. How much do you think, in 1960, they sold it for?

Ten bucks.

How much? Maybe ten. Ten bucks?

Yeah, maybe, right?

Yeah. Well, what should I list it as?

Eight bucks. Eight bucks? List it as eight bucks?

Oh,

there is a sticker on here.

You know, I didn't really notice that. What does that say? That says eight

on it, doesn't it? Oh, it says eight bucks. You know, I didn't even, I wasn't

even paying attention to that. You know, I was so, I can't believe I missed

that. Oh, wow.

I'm serious. I can't believe it. I mean, I don't even know why I didn't pick

that up. You know, my mind totally X'd that out. Did you see it and that's why

you guessed it? I didn't see it.

But look at that, too, because there's a tag underneath that. I don't know what

that tag is. Well, let me peel this away.

Yeah, it looks like the original sticker when it was sold.

No way.

Ten bucks?

Oh, my gosh.

That's what you said, right? Yeah.

That's crazy. That is really crazy.

Whoa. And there is, there is like a little manufacturer's thing under there.

Now see, that changes it. It'll go back. You can probably peel that off. Peel

this off. What is that, like the manufacturer's stamp? It could be a

manufacturer's stamp.

Oh, would it tell us the year?

No, I doubt it. It'll just give you, was it the 19?

1960. Oh, shoot. Oh, come on, come on. Oh, man.

Come on.

Come on.

Come on. I'm sorry. Wow.

I'm sorry.

I play with my mind a lot, you know.

It's so something I can't control that that's why I don't even feel the

confidence of that being the mark of what I can do. Right.

We only use a small percentage of our brain.

You'd be surprised what I can do. You know what it is? You're like a garage

guru.

Looking for something specific?

Just for driving around and decided to stop by.

Oh, that's fun.

A lot of this stuff came from an estate sale.

Okay. And they were trying to ask people if they knew who these people were

because they were trying to trace who they belonged to, like all this stuff.

That'd be really cool.

Do you recognize this dude? They're asking if everybody...

Just a man with a beard is what I would call him. Just a man with a beard,

right? You kind of have the same big eyes.

Yeah, big eyes. This could all belong to you.

Man, I missed out.

What's your last name? Da Vinny.

Da Vinny? I don't think it was that.

Yeah,

I think I got it. Oh, thank you.

Oh, a little crack.

Well.

I thought that bad.

No.

Well, there's like a little rip in it.

Yeah, but look, there's like a thing there.

Is it part of the picture? No, it looks like it's, like, under there. I'm going

to rip this up a little.

Maybe it's a note. You're about to find some treasure.

Wouldn't that be crazy?

It is a thing. Look at this.

Oh, my gosh. That is crazy.

It's a crest.

Whoa. What? I thought that was my name for a minute.

What is your name?

Deviney. Deviney? D -E -V -E -N -N -E -Y. Stop. Are you... Stop.

I'm not kidding.

I was... Are you... Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Are you serious? Is that really

your last name? No, really. I hope... Hold up my identity. Come on, come on,

come on, come on. Oh, my gosh.

D -E -V -E -N -N -E -Y.

What? What?

D -E -V -E -N -N -E -Y. That's my last name.

We've been trying to trace who this, all this would be your stuff.

This is like... What?

You're like shaking. That's such a weird thing.

That's such a small world.

How weird is that? Oh, there's more.

There's like a...

Oh, there's an IOU from him in here, too.

Oh, my gosh. We inherited this stuff from his family or your family.

This is so weird.

That is really weird.

So if this is your relative.

Oh, my gosh. Oh, okay, wait. But if we inherited this stuff and they owed us

five bucks.

Okay. So I can give you all the money minus five.

I'm not taking that from you.

I'm going to take five.

No, I really.

Yeah, I'll take five.

We can get rid of this IOU.

You can keep this stuff. Let me call my aunt and just let her know we settled

it. Because she's been trying.

Hold on a minute.

I cannot.

I just think that's so cruel.

I don't want them.

Wow.

My gosh, we've been out here all day today and all day yesterday.

Anything? We did pretty good, but it's just so hot. It is hot. You know? You

some stays, but not very much. Well, now I do, but before it was really bad.

These were going over here, because they don't make these. My uncle was the one

who made these. What is it?

This is like a clockwork pigeon.

You know, it uses a... Where is it in here? It's got a whole bunch of them

I was trying to do a demo to show people, but... Where is it? Yeah, this

one. Here, hold that for a second. I'll show you how that works.

Oh, here's the remote.

Yeah. Oh, it's got a remote now. Yeah, it has a little remote.

And here, we'll try one of these puppies here.

Look at that.

One.

Yeah, he made the inside.

They're all gears inside of it.

And they're supposed to use this remote and supposed to give the look of like a

real pigeon in flight.

Yeah.

Pretty wild.

Yeah. Let's see if that works.

Here, let me see that.

Okay. And that goes in here like this.

Is his eyes moving?

Not yet. No, it doesn't do anything.

It's not doing it.

Here.

Here, wait.

Here, I'll turn this on.

You hold onto that.

Okay. Just sort of aim, aiming at it.

You should start it up immediately.

Okay, ready?

Yeah. Okay, aim them both up.

Okay. Here we go.

Ready? Yeah.

Oh, good, good, good.

Oh, no.

Oh, that's great.

Oh, have him fly back.

Yeah, pull them both down.

I am, but that looks like a real pigeon. Yeah, it looks good, right?

Oh, my gosh.

Yeah. Careful where you aim that. Oh. Yeah, aim it right at it, and then just

aim them back, and they'll probably come back.

That is the coolest thing, though.

Sometimes, like, hit the remote.

Bang it.

Yeah. Oh, wait. Oh, shoot.

Oh, no, no, no. Oh.

Oh. Oh.

Oh.

You point the remote at him, maybe.

You got that one going.

Okay. Once it gets, you know, connection, they'll fly as a flock.

Because they have, like, a flocking program.

Oh, no.

Are you okay?

You got to recharge yourself in an electronic store.

I should have been born in the 80s.

What is this demonstration?

Oh, this is a Butterflugen.

It's a printer from Holland.

It uses an ink like a 3D printer does, except it doesn't layer plastic.

It layers active cultures.

You're supposed to be able to feel the velvety smooth texture of something that

you put in there.

So right now they're trying ones that if you print it, you know, print something

slick, you'd feel something slick. And if you print something velvety smooth,

like that really feels like... You can actually feel the velvety -ness of the

wings.

That's really wild, right?

And people, they fold it, you know, to make like an invitation or something.

Because it's like a surprise when someone opens it, it really... It has a

realistic look to it.

And the ink, because it's active cultures, if one side of it touches the

side, like in an envelope, right?

Then when it opens, the ink will activate.

See that? It will fold up on its end. And the wings release.

It gives it an animation.

Now that's not just ink.

This is just ink, yeah.

It's ink and cultures.

So it's just doing... Why is it moving?

Because the ink is drying and tightening, and the other part of the

loosening, so it looks like it's flapping. When they were making printer

prevent it from clotting in the heads of printers, they would put an active

culture inside of there.

They'd put a bacteria that was made to eat the cloth.

So that bacteria was moving, and on some pieces of paper it was curling the

paper.

They were getting it... Against the legs that are crawling.

No, it's not. They're curling.

Yeah. See how it's just sort of going back and forth, up and down? If it was a

real butterfly, it would fly away.

Well, it's trying to.

Well, people use them at weddings.

It's safer than when they throw rice, because that's bad for birds. But with

Butterflugen, you can release these, and then the rain just reduces them back

down to ink.

How much is the ink?

The ink is $300 a cartridge, but it will do 300 butterflies. So it's a buck,

buck a butterfly.

All it makes is butterflies?

That's all it does, yeah, I know.

You'd think they'd be able to come up with more, you know, advanced

This company is really good that makes the flu.

I was doing a demo to show people how it worked.

What's good is that it has a flexibility to it. So, like, here, if you grab the

in -between right there, you put your fingers right in here, over here, and

pull. Go ahead and pull that. See this?

Pull it all the way.

Yeah, it's like an accordion.

So it fits that large.

I know, but it's tall.

Right, the sides are soft.

Yeah, that's the problem.

Well, no, no, no. What I do, that's just stage one.

That's just so that you have access to open it, right? So I open it. It always

comes, it has like a plastic lining inside.

Okay.

Here, see here.

Hang on to that plastic right there.

Yeah, let me line this up.

Now, I usually travel, like, with this much stuff, like, in a carry -on bag.

know, I put a whole bunch of clothes, some shoes, right?

And what I do with this, with the flu suitcases, I pack my carry -on, because

work in different places, too.

So I put the whole carry -on inside the flu, like that, right?

And then I never trust the towels at hotels, because I want them to be my

So that gets squished all the way inside there like that.

And do you travel with a lot of clothes when you travel?

Some shoes.

And boots. This is the one thing that's so hard.

Because who wants to travel with boots? They're so big.

So I can get them really wedged in there, you know, all the way inside

that it goes beyond there like that.

Oh, and more clothes, too.

It's like the clown car.

It is.

Yeah, when I travel, I try and put as much stuff in there as I can, you know,

because you really want to be able to get away with it.

You drinking, man?

Occasionally. Well, that's how I feel, and I say, you know what, I never know

what occasion it's going to be when I'm traveling, so I like to get a little

something in there, too. If you could wedge it between the clothes, it's more

safe. You kind of pack it between two things.

Do you see that? Once it's all packed in there tightly, you put the plastic over

the top of it. And what's good about this, kind of like, in a way, a food

storage bag, you know, where you used to have to plug those in. But all of the

electronics to this, all of the electronics are inside the suitcase.

So it will actually compress once you start.

There it goes.

Automatically, it compresses all of that down.

Do you see how it kind of vacuum -sucks that in there?

What's that?

What happened to everything?

What happened to everything? It squirted. Well, it compresses it. It

compression. Yeah.

So it's airtight now, so it's super safe. Look at what it does.

Everything gets sucked inside of that plastic.

You see that?

So it flattens it down. You see?

You put all that stuff in there.

And it became flat. Yeah.

It has the electronics inside.

There's still glass, yeah.

But it won't break it.

You can't do that.

That's physically impossible.

Not if you're pulling the air at the same time that you're warming the glass.

See, because it's warming it, it's even pressure around it.

Okay. Yeah. That is a cool thing. Yeah, it's a great thing.

Well, I don't know why they don't show it on TV or something or a home shopping

network or something. Oh, yeah, they should show it on some kind of

show. Yeah, really?

Yeah. Here, hang on to that. I'll go get you a brochure.

I'd like to see you take a drink out of here.

Yeah, when you cut it open. That's the first thing I do when I get back to the

hotel. I'm going to grab you a brochure. You'll never fly without the flu again.

I got the flu.

I got the flu.

Is this a beard or a hair?

Both.

I'm touching the art. I'm touching the art!

Is this hard?

You're doing security, right? Yes. Okay, good. You wouldn't mind helping me with

the setup?

Yeah. Okay.

Oh, yeah.

So if you saw this mask, it was supposed to mean that there was a war coming or

a battle in your tribe.

Awesome. Yeah. People would hallucinate and see the mask in their dreams, and it

became a horror.

Mm -hmm.

Okay.

Close that up, and the locks are right next to you there.

Okay.

Yeah. So everybody's going kind of crazy today because we have to set up this

reception, and they just want it monitored.

Yeah. So we might have a couple other guards come in later, but just until we

get everything set up, this room can't be left alone.

Yeah. Okay.

Absolutely. Put this right here.

Good.

So, well, I'm glad you can help now. So you can have a seat here.

Okay. And you'll probably sit there during the reception, too.

Okay. There is an exit over here. Okay. That's the only way out from there and

way out from there. Okay.

So other than that, you know, you're just going to be watching over stuff.

So just make sure nobody comes in, nobody comes in. We're fine. All right.

Awesome. Okay, thank you so much. You're welcome.

All right.

Michael, could you come back real quick?

Sure. Do you need a water or anything? I'm over by all the refreshments.

No, thank you. I just have a small question.

We're not dreaming, right? Like that we put a thing in there.

Sorry? We put... Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What happened? What's going on?

Tell me what happened. What's going on? All I did was turn around and it wasn't

there. Did you unlock that? No, I... Wait a minute. Hold on, hold on, hold

Who came in this room?

Nobody.

But we put a thing in there, right?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We put the war map inside here. Because all I did was sit

right there and turn around.

Okay. Hold on one second here.

Okay.

Okay, don't panic. Hold on one second. Hold on. You know what? Come here.

Let's roll back the security footage.

Okay, there's you. It's after I left.

Yeah.

Is that when it was gone or not gone?

That was when it was gone.

And that's when I went to go see if there was, like... You went behind it

it was gone?

Yeah.

Wait, and that's when I came back in.

Wait, but... Yeah, the mask is still there.

And it's there.

What?

Why?

What?

Come on. This is like night at the museum. I don't like it.

This is not... I'm not going over there.

No? Nope. I'm just not going to do this.

This was not here.

It wasn't. So is the war coming?

It says, enemies would cook atronic plant life with a peyote -like drug

warriors to become dazed and drowsy as they ate.

And that Mac is...

Capable of causing the Carbonaro effect.

Carbonaro effect? Oh, this is that TV show.

Do you recognize me?

I do now. As Michael Carbonaro?

You're okay. You are so okay.

I could spend the rest of my life in jail for stealing art that I didn't

steal. Wow.

It was like, oh, good thing I didn't want to graduate college or anything.

That's fine.
