Authorities believe Tommy Collette is
responsible for as many as 10 crime

killings. The murders in which Collette
has been implicated date back to 1962,

but the Justice Department has never
been able to make its allegations stick.

Today, Collette dodged another bullet
when an informant recanted, claiming

police forced him to testify against the
reputed mob boss.

At 10 o 'clock this morning, as police
and prosecutors watched in frustration,
