the heck out of him.

I just want to say a big, great, grand
hello to all of you, the cast of Have

Have Not.

And I'm so glad that you could all be
together for this reunion. I know that

fans are loving it.

So you all know this story already, that
when Tyler came to me and said he

wanted to bring a primetime scripted
drama to OWN, I was like, really?

You want to do that? He said yes. And
excited I was because, as you all know,

has this genius about him. And I knew
that he would have the magic touch and

was going to be good. But then...

that have not became not just good, but
a phenomenon.

With over a million diehard fans showing
up every Temptation Tuesday to see what

new twist Tyler had up his sleeve. I
don't know. Does the man sleep? How does

come up with all these storylines?

From that very first moment of the
series.

The meeting between Candace Young.

I thought I was coming to see some old
man.

Jim Cryer.

I am old.

You don't look it.

Flattery will get you everywhere.

That set everything into motion, and
it's been one crazy ass, too darn hot

I can tell you all that.

That's not my son.

And on behalf of everyone at OWN and all
of the viewers.

All of us who work behind the scene, I
want to thank this entire cast.

All of you. The haves and have nots will
go down as one of the most

unforgettable shows ever.

Certainly on OWN. And thank you all for
eight rollercoaster seasons. You have

Well, Oprah is going to be sharing her
favorite scenes all throughout the

Plus, one unsuspecting Habs fan gets a
little visit from her favorite cast

member. I wonder who that was.

You'll definitely want to stick around
for all of that. But, you know, let's

start with you, Tika.

It has been an amazing ride, yes?

Yes. It has. And I don't think the fans
realize it's been two years since you

guys have taped.

Yes, two whole years. Wow. But how does
it feel now being here, seeing all of

your family members?

Oh, my gosh. I mean, just the energy
that you felt coming out.

From all of us, that's the energy that
we have all the time. And seeing this

family just feels, I feel safe with
them. And I love them so much. And I've

heard even in interviews where everyone
sort of referred to this cast as just

that, a family. And not the kind that
tries to kill one another.

But is that how everyone felt?

Absolutely. I know. I think so.

We've had a lot of life together.

Yeah, a lot of life.

We've gone to weddings together. We've
been to funerals together.

We've celebrated people's children being
born together. You know, we didn't know

totally what we were all getting into
when we first got on here. And it was

first show, drama on OWN. And I didn't
know how the fans would react to my

character. I was like, oh, Lord. How did
the fans react?

me when some people are like, I want to
be just like Candace. I'm like, no, no,

no, no, no, not fully, not fully. But
I'm just, I, I have to tell you the

gratitude we feel to our fans and to
every single one of you. I get chills in

body because you guys have rode with us
till the wheels have fallen off and have

still been supporting us in everything
that we do. And we're so very grateful

you. Seriously.

Yes. Candace Young.

So many moments where I threw stuff at
the television set.

But, like, she's just never going to
learn.

That girl's never going to learn.

Here's a look back at Candace Young.

I've been on my own since I was 16.

I was raped and molested as a little
girl.

I don't know who my father is.

My mother and I can't stand each other.

I had a baby with a gang member who went
to jail for multiple homicides.

That's who I am.

And what can I say, Tika, from our very
first phone call? And you said yes. You

just played the hell out of Candace
Young.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have people
waiting for me.

Go on back to your mating and fetching
mama.

The plots and the schemes.

You are so pretty.

They can mess up your face so badly that
your own mother won't recognize you. I

want $100 ,000 in cash today.

Outmaneuvering just about everybody who
stood in her way.

Candace Lutz.

You took that character on and you made
it your own. Honey, you need to get

laid. What kind of men do you like?
Thug, young, I'll send somebody to your

house. And the next time you decide to
break someone's heart, make sure it's

a cold -hearted bitch who knows how to
get even, Mr. President -elect.

But it was her tender moments that
really had us rooting for Candace to do

right thing.

You still help me up.

One of the ones I'll never forget, that
beautiful scene when Candace finally

reconciled with her mother.

I can't forget you.

I can.

Not Jim.

Because every day I wake up and wonder
if Q ever will.

Wow. You had all of us doing the ugly
cry, Candace and Hannah.

I love you so much.

What's it like for you watching yourself
back, watching that tape?

It's crazy because, you know, I would
yell at myself, too, and I would read

script like, what? You're not learning
anything. And then, you know, I think

evolution of Candace of being hard to
being able to see her vulnerable and to

see her reconcile with her mother and
really try to get out of the life that

created for herself.

I love her. I love Candace Young so
much.

You said that last scene with Crystal
was one of your favorites. Why is that?

I think because I got to connect with
Crystal.

In the middle of that scene, I just
hyperventilated. I just started going, I

couldn't remember my line because I was
so in it with her. And I just go, and I

looked at Tyler and I go, I don't know
what's happening.

And he's like, come here, come to the
room with me. Let's just, you know, and

was like, because Crystal's character
and my character have always been like

this and never had a real moment to just
say, I'm sorry. That's the first time I

said I'm sorry to my mother, who I've
wrecked millions of times. It was an

emotional moment to watch. It truly was.
It kind of brought everything full

circle. You know, we live that.

But the series ends with Jim, John
Snyder, drowning Candace in the bathtub.

How do you feel about that?

Do you think maybe Tyler Perry should
have changed the script and had Candace

drown Jim instead?

Yeah. When I read it, I just was like,
farewell, Candace. Oh, my God.

It's over.

Well, Crystal Hannah's the one who had
the honor of killing Jim.

Very well, might I add.

Oh, I guess I shouldn't be smiling about
that. It's okay.

I mean, it's TV. It's TV. You can smile.
Thank you. Oh, my God.

Yes. It was about time.

But I think that moment after your
character hit him and you just screamed

emotion, wasn't that an impactful way to
end the whole series? Because you felt

it. You felt the rage. You felt the
anger. You felt the hurt. You played it

well. Thank you.

but I knew about that and it was like my
baby is gone so that that

scream was for all moms and parents who
understand what that is

I first saw him in the makeup room.

And I had my dog, Lola.

I go, Lola. He was so nervous.

He was so nervous. And then on set, he
was like my last scene of the day. I was

so tired.

And literally, he just made me laugh the
entire time.

And I was like, wait, you're fine and
you're funny?

OK. And I actually gave him my number.

You made the move.

I did. I was like, so if you guys all go
out, you know, just call me. And his

friend had to say, yo, she likes you.
He's like, who?

She? Her?

And I'm like.

Oh, one more thing.

So Nick and I, before anybody really
knew, we would like steal kisses in the

dressing room, you know, but sometimes a
brown nose rubs off on a white nose.

So he goes to set one day and Tyler's
like, who you been kissing?

He goes, what? He goes, what? What are
you talking about? He goes, Tika.

And he goes.

Oh, my God.

Oh, my God. Yeah, I mean, Tyler was
like, mm -hmm, okay.

Oh, yeah.

You're not going to get anything past
TP. Right, exactly. He knew exactly who

was, too, right? Exactly, exactly.

Well, someone in our audience, where's

So now that we know that you and Nick
have something going on, how did he

feel with all the...

hot, sexy scenes that you did throughout
the season.

How did he feel about your hot, sexy
scenes? Well, I'm like, Candace was

all this before you came on. So she's
going to continue. But I think he, you

know, he's like an actor. He's like,
look, that's what you have to do. We're

friends. And Nick Sager, who plays
Charles, you know, I call them my two

You know, I wish you guys could come to
a scene where we do that stuff because

it's awkward.

But, yeah, he was fine with it. He's

so during the love scene, does it kind

of continue after they say good? Well,
it depends on who the love scene is

Because I can assure you, when John
seduced me, I was like, are we done yet?

It's like kissing my brother, but with

I was like, I don't think we got it on
that date.

So, it depends.

And I am single, so you know what I'm
saying.

So what was it like for some of the rest
of you to do those over -the -top sexy

love scenes?

Well, before the pros get to it, I have
to say, I was a nervous wreck.

Oh, my God.

Before the pros get to it.

Y 'all have so many scenes like that.
And I feel like I had one.

And it was so uncomfortable.

I am not shy about a lot of things. But
when it came time for the kissing stuff,

I was like.

I was a hot.

mad about it.

You know, I think that when I had scenes
with the little baby... You can't be

talking about me.

There ain't no babies over here. You
can't be talking about me.

But let me tell you why that is exactly
true.

Because when Benny and I got together,
at first I thought, okay, oh my God, you

know, I hope he doesn't feel like he's
kissing his mama.

But, you know, I...

We got to work that out. But
immediately, he was so gracious. And

he was like, are you OK? At the end of
every take, are you OK?

Can I do anything? And would you say,
yes, I am OK.

But I was very moved by his generosity.

Because it can be very awkward. You
know, you show up, there's booms in your

face, and, you know, someone's directing
you, and, you know, Tyler's directing

you in the ear, and there's 30 people on
set.

Yeah. You know, I got a little, they
call it a Houdini on, you know what I

I'll be, you know, you're fully nude.
You just got the, you know. Are you?

Oh, wow.

Tyler, I always wondered that. So you
guys are doing the love scenes, and to

it looks like you're nude, but I thought
maybe you guys had, like, a nude

bodysuit on or something? Yeah, well, so
they call it a Houdini.

Bottom line is, you know, you put your
junk in there, and you're pretty much

naked, though. You're pretty much naked,
yeah.

You know, you guys are all talking about
it. I'm still waiting for Tyler to

write mine.

I mean, I'm like... Wait, you walked
down a staircase in season one half

That's true. And I have to play his
mama.

And I'm going...

We're not even halfway through. We have
laughed. Our eyelashes have fallen off

of our eyes. We've been having a ball up
here, and there's still so much more to

I have a substance abuse problem and we
have alcohol all over the damn house.

And you're still going wrong.

Move. Aaron always kept us on the edge
of our seats, especially when he went

after his parents.

I thought you lost your mind with a
shotgun.

But without Aaron's charm, it wouldn't
have been nearly as much fun to watch.

You took the role of Jeffrey Harrington,
Gavin, and you brought a portrayal that

I know has impacted so many of our
viewers. It was the first season.

When your mom, Veronica, Lord, had that
conversation about not allowing a gay

son. Oh, my gosh. I had to get off the
treadmill. I was crying so hard.

It was so moving when Jeffrey finally
faced his fear and came out to his

parents. Oh, that was big.

Mom, I'm gay.

Honey, you are not a homosexual.

You're not.

Gavin, you could also surprise us, too.
Who could forget that shocking Tyler

Perry twist when Jeffrey dabbed his own
mother?

Stop being a drama queen and get up.

Didn't I tell you to get up? I

got

to say, kind of deserved it.

I think Oprah said what we were all
thinking.

But, I mean, that scene, every time I
watch it, it's like, because you felt

bubble under, you know, of the dynamic
of their relationship. You knew he was

going to blow. You just didn't know
when, and you definitely didn't know

So what was it like, Gavin, when you
read that script and realized, wow, I'm

really going to do this?

Well, I hope that wasn't it, the end.
You know, I was like, is she alive?

Because maybe we need to do some
rewrites, because I don't know if that's

to work for me.

When I found out that she would survive
it, then I was like, okay, well, then I

will gladly stab her because it is time
for Jeffrey. No, you know, the whole

time, and Angela and I are the greatest
of friends, and we trust each other, and

those scenes are hard for us. But we
just, we go deep, and we bring it

we know it's our responsibility.

I'm going to look over here at Aaron.

For a few reasons. Number one, I think
it was cruel and unusual punishment for

us as the viewers to see you without
your shirt on so many times and not get

love scene.

All this hard work, you know, prepping
for, you know, I booked the role in

so I had no carbs for at least six
months.

I go shoot it thinking I'm going to have
maybe a girlfriend and, you know, by

episode four, nothing.

Nothing.

Well, we do, Aaron, have a fan question
for you. Yeah. How about we roll it?

My name is Christina, and I am from
Columbia, South Carolina.

Oh, my God, Wyatt, you have to tell me,
how did you feel playing such a horrific

scene when you tried to kill Jim and
Catherine, your parents? Oh, my God, I

to know.

She was so passionate, yes? That's a
great question. Well, there's the Wyatt

answer, and then there's the Aaron O
'Connell answer.

I'll start with the Wyatt answer. The
Wyatt answer, I couldn't wait for that,

right? Just years and years, right? But
I had to, you know, have that in me to

the anger, the hatred of all the years
of what Wyatt built up inside from the

relationship with his parents and the
things that he's gone through. But from

the Aaron O 'Connell and, you know...

I love Renee, right? I mean, how many, I
mean, we've spent years and, you know,

the relationship that we have, it's just
kind of like, man.

I went to his wedding in Italy.

I mean, like, this is love, people.
Yeah.

Flew across an ocean.

It's a good question, but it's so, you

coming out to your parents. I mean, it

brought tears to many people's eyes who
were afraid to come out. Right. Who had

been living in the dark, living in the
closet, afraid to live their truth loud

and proud.

And so many want to thank you for that.

And there's actually someone in the

18 years ago, I came out to my family.

And you talking about somebody that was
scared, I was so terrified.

Rejection is real, you know.

went on, I was able to find people that
were very supportive of me.

how's she going to come back from this?

That saved the day. Come the next
season.

But Angela, you sent us a picture from
that day of filming.

When you filmed that scene.

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

And so in that picture, it looks like,
Crystal, were you crying?

Always.

Always, always, always, always. I
thought, sure, I was a goner.

And I think the emotion was that, you
know, being a

goner is a sad thing.

But being a goner and this family that I
love, they go on and I'm like, I don't

weren't half the woman you are today.

You've always delivered half the thighs
that I prefer, but I made do.

So, Renee, are you anything like
Catherine?

No, I'm not. There's a little bit of all
of us and all the characters we play

that has to be believable.

I'm like Catherine in that I'm a woman
of a certain age. I don't like it when

I'm gaining weight. No woman likes it
when a spouse or a boyfriend fools

And a lot of mamas have problems with
the youngins. But I was raised in the

South, and I know how to bury a body.

And keep it hidden. But, I mean, I don't
have her power, but I think I have her

chutzpah.

Look, can I just say this? My favorite
thing.

We're in the hotel of the place that
we're supposed to have an audition, and

get on the elevator to go downstairs,
and Renee gets on the elevator, and I'm

looking at her, and I'm like, hi. We
were like, hi, hi.

And I was like, we kind of went like,
you look like you would be da -da -da.

she said, you look like you would be da
-da -da. And we were both like, oh, my

God. Oh, I get to read with you. It's
all high -pitched and light and

We go the next day to the audition, and
she has to do the scene, and that little

soft voice, high voice, happy voice, ha
-da -da, dropped into Catherine. She

said, I'm Catherine. Cry.

Baby, that voice dropped down like,
that's it. All right, Brad. Come on.
