Americans on the road has skyrocketed.

And that means more traffic, more
accidents, and

also more rage.

With violent road rage up nearly 500%.

A recent study suggested it counts for
over half of auto -related causes of

in some states,

the guidelines are clear.

In Indiana, a driver's dash cam records
his commute.

When a pickup truck moves in front of
him, it seems to annoy him.

But the pickup's driver appears to
signal their lane change as they

construction zone ahead, seeming to
attempt a zipper merge, where when faced

with a lane closing during traffic
congestion, cars merge zipper -like into

single lane at the closure point, which
is, according to studies, the most

efficient approach.

And also, formally recommended by the
Indiana Department of Transportation.

But the driver with the dash cam may be
unaware of that fact.

And since the pickup is a company
vehicle with a phone number listed on

short distance ahead, the driver with
the dash cam decides to

voice his displeasure by calling.

But what he doesn't know is that the man
he's speaking with is the driver

of the white pickup truck.

One of your drivers just ran me off the
road. Yeah, that would actually be me.

I did not run you off the road. You did.

There was cones in the way, and you knew
that they were there, and you pulled up

beside me so I couldn't get over. Well,
you shouldn't have gotten in that lane.

You should have looked at the signs that
say, hey, look, the road's closing. You

need to stay in this lane.

You got out of your lane. Okay, but you
also have to get room, my friend.

I was in my lane. You could have hit the
brakes. You have to give room, my

friend. You have plenty of room.

Law. When you have a vote and plan to
change it. When someone is already in

wrong lane.

It is the law.

When someone is already in the wrong
lane. Know your law.

I know my law.

And that's when the firing.

I will find your business. No, you
don't. I will find your business.

As the two men argue, the driver of the
pickup applied the brakes.

And the driver with the dash cam can't
stop in time.

So, what we're going to do now is call
911, and they will deal with this.

both drivers.

And according to the crash report, they
reviewed the dash cam footage and

determined the driver of the truck
attempted to brake check the driver with

dash cam.

Which, in an ironic twist, happens to be
an illegal action in Indiana.

But regardless, hopefully a lesson
learned for both drivers.

Legality aside,

Courtesy on the road benefits everyone.

And debating the finer points of that.

In Portland, Oregon, an almost textbook
example.

of how a seemingly minor inconvenience
on the road can escalate into a full

-blown road rage event with serious
consequences.

Traffic has started to back up on this
highway due to multiple exit closures,

which apparently stem from Portland's
Grand Floral Parade, a major annual

And this inconvenience has very much
started to annoy this pickup driver,

whose dash cam records both the interior
and exterior view of a slow commute.

And after coming upon Orange Cone,
blocking off yet another exit, the man

a call to a friend.

Who it seems is dealing with the same
traffic.

And whose commiseration appears to push
the

pickup driver over the edge.

at the next blocked off exit ramp.

He makes a very unwise and dangerous
choice and then

doubles down on it barreling past the
blockade of workers

and vehicles and heading straight toward
another which is the only thing

standing between the raging driver

In the densely packed parade route.

As spectators flee.

The man appears unsure of where to go.

So he lurches back onto the parade
route.

As some attendees give chase.

And an officer.

attempts to wave him down moments later

a police motorcycle unit appears but
instead of pulling over

the man speaks his case

and then pulls back off the parade route

Just missing some workers with a police
motorcycle right behind him.

Now stuck at a stoplight, the motorcycle
officer approaches from his rear.

And a police SUV from the front.

The driver appears to finally be
cornered.

Then, he blows through the next red
light.

More street blockade.

Impact traffic in a turn lane.

Until he hits a residential street.

and pulls over.

But he doesn't get to stay there for
long.

Police catch up and place Sidney Meacham
under arrest.

According to court records, he pleads
not guilty to 38 counts, including

recklessly endangering another person,
unlawful use of a weapon, and attempting

to elude police.

He remains in custody while awaiting
trial.

No one likes being slowed down on the
road, whether it's rush hour traffic,

a

construction crew, blocking access to a
street,

bad weather, or

someone else's bad driving.

But every now and then, there are delays
of a much more enjoyable nature.

I'm going to say I don't know why these
birds are doing this.

She's got babies that are doing the same
thing.

We're in the middle of a road, and this
poor bird is not moving.

I don't know what it's doing.

And though there are theories, no one

turn into a parent's worst nightmare
that ultimately turns out okay.

camera catches a child running by in the

parking lot outside.

And though the two men inside don't seem
to notice, that changes as they

approach the front of the store and see
this.

As the child's attention is drawn
elsewhere, he doesn't notice the

vehicle behind him and vice versa.

This head rebounds up into the bumper as
he disappears under the truck.

Then, suddenly, he emerges.

And incredibly, seems to be okay.

As the storekeepers and people from the
truck, which eventually includes the

driver, check on his well -being.

According to news reports, the following
day, the boy and his parents return to

the store.

to express their gratitude for the shop
owner's help in saving their son.

And though thankfully no one was
seriously injured, the lesson for

clear.

Always be aware of your surroundings and
keep children as far away from moving

vehicles

possible. In Indianapolis, a chilling
reminder that when encountering another

driver's aggression, responding calmly
or perhaps not responding at all could

the difference between life and death.

Macy Wesley is driving home from work
when she claims the behavior of the

I can tell that he's yelling at me, and
he's motioning pretty aggressively for

me to get back and get away from his
car.

At that point, I just keep to myself
because I'm far enough away from him.

Regardless, moments later, the passenger
reemerges.

And this time, she has a gun.

There's that worry that he actually is
going to shoot me right here, right now,

no questions asked.

But rather than panic, Macy somehow
finds the fortitude to remain calm and

the course.

I feel like I had every right to cry,
freak out, scream.

But I have cars full of people and lives
all around me.

according to court records, is charged

with pointing a firearm and intimidation
with drawing or using a deadly weapon.

According to news reports, the suspect
claims in court record...

that he does not remember being angry at
another driver, but he must have been

in danger if he drew his gun.

The case is ongoing.

But as grateful as Macy is to have
escaped the ordeal physically unharmed,

is also fully aware that had she not
remained so calm through it all, she and

others on the road might not have been
so lucky.

I'm still constantly telling people.

Just be more mindful when you are on the
road.

It's not just you in the car.

There's so many other people with their
own lives and their own families, and we

all just want to get home safely.
