three months ago after the execution of

accused Sunnyview bomber Louis Sweeney
continues unabated, the death toll

to 61.

The justice system failed and an
innocent man was executed. So why did

bomber stop while Louis Sweeney was in
prison? To watch our justice system

You think those are explosions we're
hearing?

No. We're hearing the real Sunnyview
bomber laughing at us.

With the election just two weeks away,
Assistant District Attorney Sharon

Ellison has squeaked ahead of incumbent
Neil Burnside in the hotly contested

race for the District Attorney's seat.

Every fourth day, another bomb explodes
somewhere in the city. That's the only

known pattern to his terror.

His targets cut across all ethnic and
social lines.

A car wash in Compton, a boutique in
Beverly Hills, a picnic table in

Park. Where will he strike next?

There's no bomber, okay? It's actually
an operation by the United Nations

government to foment anarchy and
undermine our country.

The blame for this bloodshed rests
solely on the shoulders of Mark Simone,

disgraced doctor and former police
consultant who railroaded my father into

prison, and ultimately to his death by
lethal injection.

It was his unforgivable arrogance,
combined with the naked political

prosecutor Neil Burnside, that left the
real bomber free to carry on his reign

of terror.

This city has lost so much more.

None of us can rest until the bomber and
Mark Sloan pay for their heinous

crimes.

Tonight, as part of our 50th anniversary
celebration, CBS presents a series of

interviews with Dick Van Dyke. Join us
as he shares his most memorable moments

with the network.

I came to CBS under contract in 1955,
and they had me doing everything.

Game shows.

I was the host of the CBS morning show.
I did a Phil Silvers show, which was a

very, very popular show at that time.
There's never been another show like it

because it was Phil Silvers, and he was
great.

I did a U .S. Steel Hour back in the 50s
with George C. Scott, an hour drama

live. And I tell you, it's a heart -in
-your -mouth operation. It just scares

you to death.

But I think the audience feels that,
that great energy that's coming out of

performers. Strangely enough, they
dropped me at the end of three years, I

think. So I went to Broadway, where Carl
Reiner saw me, got back on the air, and

I was back at CBS again.

The Dick Van Dyke Show, starring Dick

It was shot at what they called the
Little Desilu Studios, owned by Desi and

Lucy. There were five shows, Danny
Thomas, Andy Griffith, me, very tight

group, all comedy shows, and a great
place to work.

What have you got for me? Hatred.

Buddy, would you save the insults,
please? What for? He's here now.

There were a lot of stories from my
life, Mary Tyler Moore's life, Maury's

everybody's life. What's the matter with
him?

Oh, Laura's been getting needled about
being the wife in the sketch last night,

and she's giving Rob a bad sign.

That's the sketch for next week.

Alan Brady plays a television writer,
and he writes a whole sketch about his

wife. Now, she hears about it, and it
goes on the air, and the neighbors hear

it, and they call her on the phone, and,
uh... Or?

CBS, where I've been most of the last 50
years, is home to me.

I've always thought of it as home. And
I'm a kind of a company man. I have a

loyalty to the Nesbitt.

What I'd like to make is a public
apology to Dr. Mark Sloan.

I was so blinded by my anger at Dr.
Sloan over the death of my father that I

willing to believe him capable of
anything, including the murder of dozens

innocent people, when in fact it was he
and he alone who solved those murders.

I was never alone, thanks to you.

And that's not the extent of my guilt.

Unwittingly, I collaborated in the
