badge on his vest.

He'd just been elected Sheriff.

May as well keep all this in the

Glad you used to talk to Kirk and

I'd be darned if I ever thought we'd

all be wearing one of these.

You sure you're not just trying to show

off your adopted sons by making us deputies,

J.D.? A small town this size, you

don't really need a sheriff and three deputies.

shipment of planned iron.

It was scheduled to arrive in Crockett the

next day.

It never showed up.

The rest of us thought we'd better do

some scouting around.

We located it that afternoon.

And I finally turned up in Adobe Wells.

The marshal told me Clint had already left.

Because the marshal had something to tell me.

He had some other news for me.

News of how we'd misjudged a new outlaw

named Canepa.

He doubled back to San Pablo and held

up the bank.

The one thing we didn't count on.

Hold it right there.

A .45 slug can really tear things up.

You can imagine what J.D. looked like

with six in him.

Kirk, I'm so sorry.

You just never know what's in the back

of some people's minds.

On the surface, Canebo was a quiet sort.

The kind of a guy you'd like to

have for a friend.

But what happened to a wonderful guy a

month ago changed all that.

Boar didn't have to shoot anybody in the

back.

About 45 in his hand, he's a tall

piece of lightning.

Well, after the marshal told me all this,

he handed me these.

my way to Boom City.

I'm not sure how you'll feel about what

guilty or innocent entirely on the evidence presented.
