(intense music)
- A group of complete strangers
from across New Zealand
have arrived at this isolated lodge
to play the game of a lifetime
with the ultimate aim of winning up to $70,000.
Hidden amongst them though are the traitors
who will each night secretly murder their fellow players,
eliminating from the game.
It's up to the surviving players
to work out who the traitors are.
- I really trust that guy.
- I'm not making this up
- And banish them. - See you in hell.
- [Paul] because if a traitor remains undetected,
they take home all the money.
Previously...
(intense music)
Christen, no longer with us,
a mind-bending murder.
- I can't believe she's gone.
- [Paul] Sewed chaos and confusion
among some of the faithful.
- What about the fact that Vanda voted for Christen
and now she's gone?
- I don't trust her.
- I think called Colin and Vanda are both traitors.
- [Paul] But others saw through the deception.
- But I think I could have tell if you were a traitor, Dan.
I know him well enough to know when he's hiding something.
I think Dan Sing is a traitor
- [Paul] And one brazen accusation.
- The only person I noticed
who wasn't radiating positivity was Mike.
- Don't read anything into it.
- Led to the banishment. - Sorry, Mike.
- Mike, I chose you. - I'm sorry buddy.
- [Paul] Of an innocent.
- You guys are playing the game well,
but not that well.
I am a faithful.
- Oh no. - Ah.
- [Paul] As the traitors tighten their stranglehold
on the game
by choosing seduction...
- I think we seduce Brooke.
- [Paul] Over murder.
- [Matt] He's the perfect person
to become our third traitor.
(Matt laughs)
(eerie music)
* Fever runs high *
(calm music)
* It's contagious *
* Never say die *
- Oh bloody hell.
Ah.
The traitors would like to offer you the opportunity
to join them.
You now have the choice
whether to become a traitor or remain a faithful.
(intense music)
- I know that he really wanted to be a traitor
just to test his skills.
- Yeah, he's coming.
- I'm really nervous about how much stress
this is gonna put on me.
If I say no, it would piss the traitors off so bad.
- I think he will be a really valuable addition.
- If he comes, we are gonna be a great
triumvirate of traders.
(intense music)
* No hesitation *
* We're standing on the edge *
* Never say die *
* Never say die *
- I'm gonna do it because I don't think
I'm gonna get another opportunity.
* Never say die *
(intense music)
(Brooke laughs)
Boom.
The last person I expected was Matt Heath.
That man has everyone thinking he doesn't even know
the rules of this game
and he is the puppeteer.
(intense music)
(Dan laughs)
I knew it, I knew it.
Devious Dan Sing.
Oh my God.
- Welcome. - Oh my God.
- Welcome. - Welcome, welcome to
to the conclave.
- Oh my God.
Oh, this is gonna be just crazy.
It's so crazy how your mind
just has to flip from being banished these traitors
to right now, I'm in a team with them.
I could not think of two crazier people
to go on this crazy journey with.
This is gonna be both scary and fun.
I can't wait to cause havoc tomorrow.
(Brooke maniacally laughs)
Interesting.
(Matt maniacally laughs)
This is such a crazy brain's trust.
I can't see the faithful making it through this.
- [Dan] Welcome to our show.
(calm music)
(Anna laughs)
- [Anna] How are we first?
Look at our hitches and no one saw it.
Wow, I've never been first.
- Wasn't yesterday crazy?
- [Anna] It honestly, I beat myself up about it all night.
All night.
- You know, initially I did.
And then I thought to myself,
Mike did no favours.
I went from a sadness with losing a faithful into,
well, he didn't offer anything to you
to say he wasn't.
So in this game, that's what happens.
It's a clean slate for me and ironically,
I thought this morning when I was shaving my ears
that you are the only one I trust.
- Oh, thank you, Colin. - Yeah and the others are
sort of shades of grey.
(intense music)
- [Anna] Ah, ah.
Hello, you two. - Hello.
- And or my heart I was so relieved to see Darth Vanda.
I'm so glad you survived
because I thought to myself-
- We're early, we're one of the first ones.
- I thought to myself, if you go,
people will cast suspicions on me.
- Colin, I can't read him.
Is your bluff or not?
I'm kind of in two minds.
- Muesli?
(everyone laugh)
- Serve her today. - Oh I know.
- Hey. - Hey.
(contestants cheer)
- I'm feeling a lot clearer today.
I'm still gutted that I made the wrong call
banishing Mike last night.
But it's a new day and we've got a traitor to find.
No mucking around today.
Let's get it done.
- Did you notice that the bad weather rolled
in as soon as we voted out the weatherman?
- [Anna] Yeah.
- Had that all night.
- Oh, wait, okay.
How three, six, seven people.
- Eight, nine, 10. - Eight, nine, 10,
11, 12, 13, 14.
- That's one too many, right?
That means...
- That means no one's been-
- That means no one's been murdered.
- That means that there's been seduction.
Why didn't we count that out earlier?
Although I came to my head.
The traitors could have seduced someone else
and it's making my brain have all these thoughts.
Shit.
It could be a genius move.
I've gotta keep my trust circle tight.
(eerie music)
- Hey. - Hey.
- Good morning. - Oh my God.
How are you guys? - Good.
- Oh my God.
Walking to breakfast is the most terrifying thing I've done
because now I know something.
I've got a secret.
- We think someone's been seduced.
(intense music)
There's 14 chairs.
There's 14 chairs.
- Oh my God.
I'm just thinking and you know,
don't show it, don't show it.
Be normal, talk about,
do exactly what I've done the last two days.
I'm gonna blend a bro.
You know, just a classic.
Just a classic blender.
Oh my gosh, you guys are saying there are 14 seats in here
and there were 15 of us last night before Mike left.
- Yeah, but who bloody knows?
(contestants cheers)
- Hey.
People were saying they were gonna quit
if you'd been murdered.
- Oh.
- I was just trying my hardest to look at them
instead of the door to see like, who's not surprised.
I'm having a great time being a traitor.
You know, like it or not,
we are the puppet masters of the game.
We have to make the game go in our favour.
We have the advantage of creating chaos.
- Kings. - Kings.
- Don't forget to look at that side the table
as someone comes in because I can't see them.
- Yeah okay, good point.
Yeah I will.
- I'm throwing a few kind of, you know,
ideas out there.
I can't even see you guys.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
(contestants chattering)
- No one would say that if they were a traitor.
- Oh. - Hey.
(everyone clap)
- Of course Matt's here.
- Yeah, hey guys. - Hey.
- [Robbie] Isn't it a great day to be alive?
- We are very happy to see you guys.
(contestants chattering)
- I have a gut feeling about Matt.
I just think he is being a master.
At this eer of shambolicness.
- Yeah, plays as if no idea.
(contestants laugh)
- He's never voted for anyone that's...
I think he's being overlooked.
But he's not being overlooked by me.
(intense music)
(intense music)
(contestants chatter)
- It'll be interesting to see if Paul comes out
or if Kings opens that door. - Yeah.
- But how do we know someone's not murdered?
- We don't. - We don't.
- We're making one of these assumptions
that we seem to do
that have gone really well for us so far.
(intense music)
- Morning. - Hi.
- Oh, it means it's happened.
- Yeah.
- There must have been a seduction
and someone has become a traitor.
That is exciting.
It's happened. - It's happened.
- It's happened. - Oh my God.
- There's a new traitor
- Uh-oh. - New traitor.
- I'm definitely someone I think they'll suspect
that has been seduced and brought to the dark side.
(competitors chatter)
- Yeah, I'm good. - Was that brutal?
- I have to do a really good job not stuffing this up today.
- I thought that if you're seduced, you can turn it down
and then they potentially can't murder.
So anyone was seduced and turned it down,
'cause you'll be able to say.
- Yes.
This is gonna be an absolute mind.
Yes, yes, yes, you're right, right?
- Yeah, yeah.
(Anna laughs)
- Oh no, sorry. - Yeah.
- Yes, it was me. - Yes.
- But am I right in remembering the game's,
the rules of the game?
- [Colin] Pre-handler, are you a traitor?
- Oh well guys.
See you later, guys.
(sighs)
(lively music)
- Wow. - Oh.
(contestants cheer)
- Another day, another dollar.
Soon players, you'll embark on another mission,
attempting to add more money to that
ever growing prize fund.
A little flowery, yes?
Today we are heading down the rabbit hole,
going straight to the scene of the crime.
I'll need you in three teams,
something else to think about.
Curiouser and curiouser.
- I love missions
and now with a new traitor in the mix,
someone might slip up and say something.
(intense music)
- After the round table, I (mumbles) back to my room
and I was like,
it's kind of put me back to square one
because I had such a strong feeling on Mike
that I trusted my
deduction or whatever it was - Guts or yeah.
- that led me there and it was wrong.
And so then it's made me go,
oh, probably everything else I thought was fucked as well.
I came into the game like not wanting to be a threat.
I didn't want to be a person who was seen
to be guiding others a lot.
But I think that's out the window.
- That's where you, I think are a power player.
And if they start going, eventually,
I'm gonna go for someone in discovery,
it would be you, you know?
- I think it's hard to overstate
how real the game has become.
The emotion that I'm feeling
is far more real than I expected.
- You are so layered and intelligent
and that way, just be careful.
(calm music)
- Okay, I'm just gonna tell you my two people
that are in my gut and I'm not fucking,
unless something so drastic happens today,
are Julia and Matt. - Yeah.
- I'm feeling it like if I learn anything from yesterday,
I have to go out there
and put my feelings out there to people I trust.
- Julia and Matt. - They are right there.
- [Anna] So you think that's a good recruit option?
Or like do you think he's been
the traitor from day one? - No I think he's been
the traitor from day one.
And the hope that they will listen to that
and we can chat about that
and maybe start bouncing that around with some other people.
If I'm voting now,
if I'm banishing now, it's Matt.
That's just how I feel right now.
That's how sure I am.
And it's gonna take me a lot
to go someone else.
- Brodie just drops this bombshell
that she's gonna go after Matt today.
And I know what that means when Brodie says a name.
- My argument for it is that it,
it's like a genius choice.
- Yeah. - He is a genius.
- He is a genius.
- Also the challenge that I'll have is that
for you guys is that you're gonna have
to move like 10 people
against someone - Yeah.
- that's really likeable.
And I'm trying to slow it down a bit
just to see if it's stoppable
without putting me on the line.
- If you feel so strongly about Matt,
but this is a really good point.
You'd be playing your card
really fucking early if we don't have the numbers.
- I know. - Yeah.
- Matt could be a genius move
but I also agree with Brooke.
- The most realistic people to test tonight
would be Colin and Julia.
- She's been on my mind since early days.
- Julia. - Absolutely.
- I just think it's gonna be,
I think it's gonna,
we could easily get six, seven of us.
- My hunch is that people are inching
towards banishing Julia.
She's good at watching everyone
and good at taking in information.
So I could go that way,
but my number one is Matt.
Can you all just do me a favour
and keep an eye on Matt? - Yeah.
(intense music)
- Ah, you are all here.
And I hope you are all in good spirits
because you are about to do a bit of ghost busting.
Remember Christen?
Neither do I, but the room she slept in
the night she was murdered is now a crime scene.
(eerie music)
So here's what's going to happen,
group by group, you'll enter her room.
You need to spot as many forensic details
as you possibly can,
as fast as you possibly can.
You'll need to go full CSI on this
because we don't know how long you've got
before the ghouls turn up to unleash their fury on the room.
Pesky poltergeists always messing with my stuff.
Now after their ghostly visit,
each group will have one minute
and one minute only to find five changed items.
Each correctly identified item will add
$300 to the cash fund.
That means there's another $4,500 up for grabs today.
One more thing and this is exquisite,
members of today's winning team,
that's the team that identifies the most correct items
will be given the opportunity to enter my armoury
and secure one of my precious shields.
That provides protection
for one player in the team against murder tonight.
(Brooke laughs) - Yes.
- To sleep easy tonight, just imagine players.
- The armoury, that's cool.
It's gotta be cool.
Now that I know what it's capable of
and like that it can save you from being murdered,
like of course I want that.
(intense music)
- [Paul] Our players have been split into three teams
and have been equipped with forensic suits.
So is not to disturb Christen's old dwellings,
now the scene of a crime.
With only one team entering the room at a time,
every detail will need to be stored to memory.
After the spirits have tampered with the evidence,
the teams will need to recall the following differences,
the wine in a champagne flute,
a framed butterfly collection,
a sofa cushion,
a plastic toothbrush,
and a ghastly lamp.
Time is of the essence and it won't be easy.
(intense music)
- [Anna] Tea, cup, cup, cup, two cups, chocolate thing.
- We go into the mission,
we've got a good solid team.
- [Anna] Okay, so everyone take a section.
Okay, good, good idea.
- I think the key to this mission
is focusing on a certain area,
dividing and conquering.
I've seen it as a way to prove my worth.
(intense music)
(rain trickles)
- [Brooke] Okay, in we go guys.
- [Dan] Can we split the room up into?
- Yes, I'm in this back corner here.
Fili, do you wanna do the bathroom in that way?
- Okay. - Okay, I'll take this area.
It is essential that we win this mission and get the shield
because we have two traitors on our team.
Having us appear as unable to be murdered is key.
(rain trickles)
- Okay. - Let's go team.
We put Julia in charge of the mission
because she's a police person.
- Two, Matt, go to the left, go over here
and then make sure that you are looking all around.
Just like make your way strategically round all fours.
- That is an asset.
You know, you play the assets,
but I thought her job would also be
to stand and look at a section as well,
but she didn't do that at all.
She just pointed.
- [Kings] And this is my area?
- This is your area, yeah. - Okay, okay, okay.
- She didn't really look at anything herself.
- Fruit bowl, bananas.
60 seconds is not a lot of time.
So I go into my spot,
there's 87,000 different things.
Bed, bottle, bottle.
And then I look up and I'm like, oh my God,
vase, vase, vase, vase, butterfly.
Oh my god.
But I'm like trying to take it all in.
I'm trying to take it all in.
Everyone's doing the same.
- Picture in my mind.
- There are two tables.
My strategy was just to just do a quick zoom
around everything so that potentially,
we could try and back each other up
if there were any questions.
We're allowed to talk, we're allowed to talk.
- Yeah. - Yeah.
There seemed to be a bit of confusion
with what Robbie thought we were doing.
- [Robbie] I've got nothing but beer bottles.
- Robbie's kind of out of this.
My sense is that she's just not focusing enough
on this to win the money.
- I've got nothing on my table.
- I think...
- Beer bottles.
- She's an easy banishing and it keeps the heat off of us.
- [Paul] I have tasked three teams
with examining a crime scene in Christen's former residence.
Each difference the players are able to spot
will add $300 to the prize fund.
Whichever team can spot the most changes
from our dastardly ghouls will earn themselves a trip
to my armoury and a chance to win the coveted shield
keeping one player safe from murder tonight.
(peacock wails)
- [Julia] Make sure that you guys aren't missing
out ceilings as well.
- I'm trying to remember within every mission,
that there could be a traitor
doing a mission within a mission.
I know that's happened before,
so I'm trying to look at that.
I don't like wearing the blue overalls,
they make me look like a mechanic.
- [Sam] So coffee cup, spoon.
Oh, ah.
You think the lights went out?
- Oh. - Oh shit,
the ghost's arrived.
(competitor moans)
- Go. - Okay,
I found one difference already.
So that's one.
- I looked at the at my sideboard
and the lamp has changed straight away.
I've got one as well. - So that's two.
- Different lamp shade.
Boom, got the lamps.
That's great.
Potentially have a second as well.
- I think I've got extra teacup.
Two maybe, an extra teacup and God, this is hard.
- I haven't got anything. - This is hard.
- [Dan] If you have a change, just say I've gotta change.
Don't tell us what it is.
I've gotta change.
- [Brooke] I've gotta change here.
- [Fili] I've gotta change.
- The place is a mess.
You've got a very, very short period of time.
60 seconds is not long.
- [Robbie] I've got a feeling they might have switched
out these teas.
- [Brooke] Who was on this sign?
- [Robbie] I was just starting to look.
- Oh.
My sense is that she's just not focusing enough
on this to win the money and faithful or traitor,
that's what we are here for.
For me, that's a big enough reason for her to be gone.
- Butterflies different.
So I've got the butterflies.
- [Kings] I've got nothing on mine.
- [Sam] Different champagne in that glass.
It was rose and now it's changed.
- [Julia] Three.
Tables? - There's a new thing
added into the sink.
- [Sam] The vase is different
- [Vanda] Oh a cramp.
- What about this?
- [Dan] I've got nothing over mine.
- [Julia] No, it's the same
- Time's up.
Gather round.
You were tasked
with finding five changes.
What have you found?
- To start off with this lamp was a different lamp
and I think that glass of wine had more wine in it.
- The first definite is a group of nine small butterflies,
it's been replaced by one single frame with one butterfly.
- Candle on the bath was on, was burning,
and then it was out.
And it was a different type of bubbles.
- I think that there's cups added to the sink
and that there's a missing teabag from over there.
- I've got a lamp and it's now a shorter lamp.
- And I have the toothbrush.
It's a different colour.
- A framed series of butterflies
and now there is a framed single butterfly.
- And the folded towel. - Folded towel
in the bathroom.
- [Vanda] I thought it possibly folded
and now it's crumpled.
- I have potentially the glass containers of teas
that have been swapped around.
- And finally the time on the clock has changed.
- I think one of these items was swapped out.
- I had jars just in around the corner reordered.
- All right and essentially Brodie,
it appears you found nothing has changed.
- That's true.
I feel like that was a ridiculously hard challenge.
I feel like Paul raised the bar.
- Let's find out how the other teams did
back at the lodge. - Oh my God.
- It appears there's not a single super sleuth among them.
What every team failed to spot
was a glaringly obvious fancy cushion
swapped for a plain one.
(intense music)
Well, there is good news for all of you
and excellent news for some of you.
One player in particular truly stood out
during this mission.
Sam, your team only correctly identified two items,
but you spotted them both
and you are legally blind.
(contestants cheer and laugh)
- I demonstrated my worth
in a challenge that was fully against me.
It just shows you anyone who has any disability,
they can do whatever they fricking want.
- All right, enough of this nonsense.
Together you have added
$2,100 to the prize pool,
one team winning it by a nose.
That team now has the right to enter my armoury
and one member of that team will receive protection
from murder tonight.
Congratulations, Brooke, Dan, Robbie and Fili.
(contestants applauds)
- Oh my God, I totally did not think
that that was gonna happen.
- Winning that mission was crucial.
Having the opportunity to go to the armoury,
you know everything we needed as a team
with two traitors on it.
The advantage is huge.
- Yes. - Yes.
- You found three items while the other teams
only found two a piece.
Ta-ta for now.
- Wow, wow, wow.
- It was hard.
I feel better you got two too.
- [Sam] Well done.
- Oh, that's so huge, guys.
(eerie music)
- So congratulations.
Let's talk about my armoury.
(eerie music)
You will each into the armoury alone.
In there you'll see a multitude of wee chests.
Choose one, open it.
If it contains a shield,
you will have protection from murder tonight.
It does not protect you from banishment.
If you do get a shield, you'll have to decide
whether to tell your fellow players
or whether to keep it a secret.
A shield is a powerful thing.
And remember, every decision has a consequence.
Act wisely and I'll see you all
with the others at the round table a little later.
You may begin now.
- Thanks, boss.
- Fili, you've go first.
You've got the toothbrush,
you're an absolute legend.
All agree that we're not gonna tell anyone.
- [Robbie] Agreed.
- Going into the armoury,
if you decide not to tell anyone,
then effectively all of your team are protected.
We don't tell each other.
- Okay guys. - If you have it,
you have it, just keep it.
Because it would be too much of a risk for us
to just take a guess at which one of them to murder
when one of them could be holding the shield.
So it adds a whole new layer
into how I personally can play the game.
(intense music)
- That was a bummer not choosing the shield,
but I think it'll be stupid if they murder me tonight
because we decided as a team to not tell anyone,
even amongst ourselves who's got the shield.
(intense music)
- I would've chosen that exact box.
(intense music)
(Dan growls)
(intense music)
- Okay, remember, don't tell anyone.
Trust no one. - See you, babes.
Okay.
- Wow.
(intense music)
Ah, damn.
(intense music)
- There's only one box left I suppose.
There was three boxes open.
So there was only one box left for me to choose from.
I guess the choice had been made for me.
(intense music)
Oh my God.
(intense music)
Oh my God, that's amazing.
I just saw the shield.
Ah-ha, this means I'm gonna get
a really good night's sleep tonight.
I can't be murdered, ha-ha.
- [Paul] The first armoury has rewarded one faithful
with a shield ensuring their safety
from one night of murder,
but no players are safe from tonight's round table,
which is drawing ever closer.
- Because tonight it'll be intense,
I think it's gonna come up how Mike got banished last night
and then you were the other option.
It'll just help me if you're able to explain
like where you're coming from there.
- I'm trying to guess who the traitors are.
I don't wanna get into the same situation
where I get to the round table
and I feel uncomfortable about whichever way it's gonna go.
- Why you think people would be suspecting you,
but you are not a traitor.
- No. (laughs)
- So I'm just trying to get myself,
my head around this.
- Julia is a really lovely and clever
and smart person
and I just can't shake my suspicions for her.
But the other name that is being thrown out
ahead of the round table is Matt.
I'm gonna ask you first. - Yes, cool.
- Because I'm hoping that you've taken more room
and that you might have other ideas other than Colin.
- Yeah, okay, yeah.
Well this day hasn't been a great day for that.
I've been really fucking frying today.
- Matt's the guy that everyone's like,
oh my God, he's so cool and he is so funny
and he is a little bit silly
and he kind of voted for Colin on the first night
because he didn't really know what was going on.
Nah, Matt, he's too clever.
- [Anna] You just say I thought something else to add.
- Well my point is that I've had,
I don't, I've been spending so much time with Colin,
I'm feeling like I'm moving off the whole Colin thing.
- We've gotta send someone home.
We've gotta banish someone.
We have to use every moment we can.
And I'm not just going on one piece of body language,
I'm going on more than one observation.
- Are you just nervous
or are you doing your metabolic thing?
- [Matt] I'm doing my thing I was telling you about.
- But you were doing it with just one knee before.
I'm confused or you just doing a nervous tick?
- I know that Brodie and Anna are onto me.
Their body language is totally different,
they're asking weird questions.
For the first time in the game,
I know I've overshot the mark
and I've got my strategy slightly wrong.
I'm nervous.
- [Kings] Who would you go for tonight then?
- [Anna] Think you need to change it up.
- I made a mistake with Mike and that wasn't my gut.
If I get it, oh God,
if I get it wrong tonight,
I'm in so much trouble.
(intense music)
- Guys, I've got something important,
but it's kind of dick to say this
when she's not in the room.
But today in our challenge,
Robbie didn't understand the game at all.
Building money's really important.
That's a mission where she should be able
to compete for us, right?
- Totally.
- I've gone into straight strategy mode.
It is now my personal mission to send Robbie.
And you guys went in with five,
we went into that mission with three people
'cause she just wasn't focused.
You hear what I mean? - You know this is
another key thing I want to keep quiet is
when we finished the challenge,
she said there's a traitor in our group.
- In our group? Or group?
- I'm feeling Robbie might be a traitor.
I still have, you know,
the other names, Julia is always under my radar,
but after today's mission,
there's a few questions I need to clear.
But get this, she said,
she kept coming up to me and she goes,
remember we formed the pact.
And I think, when?
- When? - No say again, say again.
- And I've never formed a pact.
- You formed a pact?
- What?
I feel confused about that
because someone's misheard something.
I think Fili is, he's very well spoken
and he's very calm and collected.
I trust the man and I...
But do I?
- Like, if you're gonna take,
if you've got a group of people,
faithfuls that are trying to win this game,
I just don't know if you'd take her that much further.
- Well, it's not even that
because there's also the risks,
that you've got someone who's not all there in the game
that they actually direct us wrong.
- So I think we're gonna see this play out today.
- Yeah but she's lovely, I really like her,
but I was fucking angry that she let us down today.
Fili is rock solid.
I think that he'll be able to convince people
that he heard her say something
and then the faithful will eliminate one of their own
and they will be down again.
(intense music)
- Going into the round table,
I have Robbie's name in my pocket
only because of today's mission.
I just feel unsure.
(intense music)
- I'm heading into round table as a massive accuser.
I'm excited, but I'm also terrified
because when you go in that strong
and you are wrong, that's catastrophic.
(intense music)
- Welcome back to the round table.
You made $2,100 today.
Possibly time to consider who stepped up to the plate
and who was happy to take a back seat.
Nevertheless, it does bring the grand total to $16,600.
Last night, faithfuls, you made your first misstep.
You banished one of your own.
This you want to avoid at any cost.
Perhaps the traitors amongst you
were spooked at today's ghoulish mission
and momentarily let their guard down.
Did you hear something odd?
A little out of place?
Oh, and lastly, a reminder to whomever was lucky enough
to obtain the shield,
remember, it may offer you protection from murder,
but a shield can't protect you from banishment.
Let's discuss.
Who wants to start?
(intense music)
- I've got a question for someone.
Matt, I want to ask you genuinely
why for two nights in a row
you have been completely against the grain
and stayed with the same person?
- I had the first day when I went with Colin.
I felt like I couldn't...
Basically, I couldn't read him.
But that wasn't,
I didn't have much to hang my hat on at that point.
No one did really.
- I disagree.
I went into the first night knowing exactly
who I was gonna vote for.
And I struggle a little bit
with your carelessness of feeling towards that.
I won't beat around the bush,
I am suspicious of that.
- If I'm totally honest about what's going on here.
So I arrived at this game, it was fricking stressing me out,
I was so fricking busy, got a lot of work on.
So if I've been coming across as a bumbling fucking moron,
and then that's fine, just, just a second.
And then since I've been here
and I've been hanging out with you people,
I've grown to love it.
And so about yesterday I was like,
I love this game now.
And so if maybe I wasn't listening
and wasn't involved in stuff,
then that's actually uncool
because everyone's taking this seriously
and maybe I wasn't.
(intense music)
- I heard something that was
a little bit suspicious
and it led me to you, Rob.
- Why is that?
- Just what you said to me.
- What was that? - What'd she say?
(intense music)
- You said there was a traitor in our team.
- No, I didn't say there was a traitor in our team.
You mean today? - Mistake.
- You know, but that's just something I wanted to clear.
- No, no, no, hang on, hang on, hang on,
this is really important.
This is actually really important.
I didn't say anything.
So I don't don't even know - Well okay, well what
- why you're saying that. - did you mean by that?
- And I didn't say anything. - And you even said to me,
like, you know, we made a pact.
What does that mean?
- [Colin] Why don't you say anything?
- Fili, Fili. - Robbie,
I'm not making this up.
A little whisper. - I'm really getting
quite agitated about stuff being thrown at me.
- Robbie, there's a lot of people mishearing
things you're saying, which is kind of weird
'cause I really trust that guy.
- [Fili] Robbie, I'm just trying to make sense of it,
that's all.
- I did not say that.
- But the fact that you said you didn't say it at all
really bothers me.
- All three you guys today, if I've said anything to you,
it's been pointed towards you, Julia.
When Brooke did ask you categorically, are you a traitor?
Because no, no, no, no, no,
because you did not at any one time say,
I'm a faithful or I'm not a traitor.
You just went absolutely, of course.
(contestants talking together)
Because all I'm just trying to clear myself
from this predicament I'm in as well again.
- At this juncture too, I think, Julia,
you should maybe defend yourself.
(contestants talking together)
- But I think probably right now,
I could be a big target for people.
Potentially the traitors are using this as their advantage
because I would be a great person to have them swing around
and just be banished naturally.
I'm happy to take the heat.
You guys are gonna, if you write my name down,
you guys are getting look really, really fooled,
and the egg on your face when I stand up there
and say, good evening, I'm a faithful.
You're gonna know straight away that you fucked up.
- [Paul] Traitors, enough noise.
- Oh god. - Sorry guys.
- It's time to vote. - Oh no.
- Please take your slates and write a name on the slate.
(intense music)
Who is a traitor?
Who would you like to banish?
(intense music)
Has everyone locked in their votes?
Julia, who have you voted for and why?
- So I voted for Matt.
I'm really sorry, Matt.
It was just a conversation that some of us had today.
I'm really sorry.
- Don't worry about it.
- Okay, sorry Matt.
- Justine, who have you voted for and why?
- I changed my mind about three times just because,
and only because there's been a lot of wishy-washy things.
A lot of people think you've said some weird things.
I voted for Robbie, which I wasn't gonna do.
I'm not saying I believe Fili over you,
I'm just saying there is uncertainty over you
and that's why my vote has gone your way.
- [Paul] Robbie.
- [Robbie] I'm just going with what
I originally thought this morning.
I'm sorry Julia.
I've had nothing else to go on all day.
- [Paul] So that's one vote for Matt, one vote for Robbie,
and one vote for Julia.
Dan.
- Julia, I've also voted for you,
but the conversation at the round table,
I don't feel what you had to say
made me think less.
- [Paul] Matt, who did you vote for and why?
- Well, I don't have to say sorry because you voted for me.
(everyone laugh)
So that makes things very easy.
- [Paul] So Dylan, who did you vote for?
- This was, I think my hardest vote so far.
And I don't know if I trust my vote,
but I've written Matt's name.
Matt has called himself the bumbling professor
in the way he goes about understanding the game around him.
And I think it just boils down to my assessment
that the way you are in this game,
which is all about you,
it would be such an incredible way
to play this game as a traitor.
And I really hope that's what you're doing.
Matt's a smart man
and he could definitely be doing a lot under the surface.
- [Paul] Anna.
- You are either brilliant or once again, we're silly.
- Three votes for Matt, three votes for you, Julia,
one vote for you, Robbie.
Brodie, who did you vote for and why?
- Matt, you're a genius.
- I'll take anything, - But I genuinely have had
a gut feeling that you would make the perfect traitor.
And if I'm wrong, I'm sulking tomorrow.
I think it's you.
- Brooke, who did you vote for and why?
- I was totally blindsided by Fili and Robbie
because I thought there was just good cohesion.
I voted for you.
So that's just me
and I'm happy to not be in this crazy shit.
- [Paul] Sam.
- I voted for Matt.
It's that not being able to read you thing.
- [Paul] Fili.
- My questions weren't answered from today's mission.
So Julia, you are lucky on this one, but Robbie,
(contestants laughs)
your name wasn't even on the radar,
but I just wasn't satisfied with your answer.
- [Paul] So Matt has five votes.
Julia has three votes
and Robbie has three votes.
Kings, who did you vote for and why?
- My gut's got me this far
and my gut is still saying Julia.
- [Paul] Vanda.
- Fili. - Oh.
- Oh, it's weird seeing my name.
- Your questions out there that sometimes are incendiary.
He said, she said, without witnesses.
This is the thought I'd come in on and I've stayed with it.
- [Paul] It's still unclear what will happen.
Five votes for Matt,
four votes for Julia,
three votes for Robbie,
one vote for Fili.
Colin, it all comes down to you.
A vote for Julia will force a tie break.
A vote for Matt will mean the end of his game.
So what name have you put on your slate?
- Well, after what happened yesterday
with our epic fail,
I woke up and let yesterday go and I went in.
So the person I picked,
I picked because I thought
just would be the best traitor.
(intense music)
And I hope that you are a traitor.
- Matt, you have received six votes,
the most votes.
You are banished from the game.
Please come and join me.
- Had this great plan of being an idiot
and all that kind of stuff, but I'm massively over egged it.
That was a strategic, absolute strategic cock up of me.
- Before you leave the game forever, Matt,
please reveal if you are a faithful or a traitor.
- Okay, well I'd just like to say that it's been really fun.
Absolutely no hard feelings.
Looking forward to getting back to my kids and my dog and...
(intense music)
I was a traitor.
(everyone cheer)
See you in hell.
(contestants cheer)
- [Brodie] Oh my God!
Holy shit, we won.
- Excellent work, faithfuls.
You've managed to get rid of another traitor.
- Wow. - Wow.
- [Paul] It's almost like you know what you're doing.
- Oh my-
- But beware of resting on your laurels.
- Yeah.
- There's a very real chance
one of you will be murdered tonight.
I suggest you sleep with one eye open.
(speaking in foreign language)
(laughs)
- Wow, like can you even believe
what happened tonight?
- That has changed my world.
- Well, we did it guys.
We did. - Yes.
- Today, I went back and I was strong and I was hard on Matt
and I went there and I was like,
I'm shooting my shot, I'm doing this,
and it paid off.
Two big strong plays,
I'm a massive target (imitates head being sliced).
- Woo, yeah man.
Woo.
- Does anyone have a shield for me?
I need a shield.
Shield, shield.
- Hey guys. - Okay, I'm tired.
Cheers guys.
(glasses clink)
(laughs)
It's a very low couch.
Yeah, good night you guys.
Hope I'll see you all in the morning.
- [Brodie] I'm gonna see you. I'm gone.
- No. - Good night.
- [Brodie] No I am.
- [Anna] I really hope you're not.
- [Brodie] No, no, it's gonna be me, mate.
Mate, I need that. - Do you not have
the shield, babe?
- [Robbie] No, we actually made a pact
to not tell each other.
- I feel so bad for Matt.
To be honest, he was only a couple of votes away
from staying in here.
If he could have convinced me he had the votes
and I'd voted for Julia, she'd be gone right now
and it would be a very different game.
But the truth is, I think his game was up.
Now Dan and I have to figure out
what we're gonna do tonight.
It's really hard.
Do we seduce another traitor or do we murder?
- Oh God.
(intense music)
- Is really, really, really a big decision.
(sad music)
* By the grace of darkness *
* In the silence I dwell *
* The ringing of the bell *
* I draw my victory, yeah *
(bell dongs)
- Oh my God. - Whoa
and even were two.
- Wow, that did not go the way I thought it was
for my first day as a traitor.
That was a pretty bad start.
- Like I knew that he was on people's radar,
but I didn't think that they would have the numbers
or the bravery to do it today.
- It's a really good lesson for you, dude.
You know what he didn't do?
He wasn't actively trying to seek out traitors
and this is your biggest fault, right?
Listen, you are next on the block
unless you start actually offering.
That's what these people want.
They want people that are offering solutions.
- I guess what that means for my game, it, you know,
I'll probably have to introduce new strategy,
bigger, more elaborate ideas to move focus to places.
- So do we murder or do we seduce?
- Honestly, like I think as much as I would like
to seduce today,
I think we need to murder
to just maintain. - Yeah,
Keep them on the back foot.
- Yes. - All right.
If we are heading down that road,
I think Brodie is like your prime target.
She runs the roost.
Like literally, if she says
one of our names tomorrow morning,
we are done.
We are just done, it's unstoppable.
We'd be crazy not to murder her.
- I don't disagree, she has too much power,
too much control of the game.
I would say Colin as well.
He's the enigma mastermind.
He's happy to throw out things to you,
he's picking things off,
he's putting people in uncomfortable positions,
which is useful and the worst thing about it
is he's so fun to have around.
- If you murdered him tonight, it would send a message
to Brodie to shut up, sit back,
and not continue with her like crusading.
So do we want to go predictable?
Brodie's murdered or do we want to go chaos,
Colin's murdered?
Is there anyone else? - Is there anyone else?
* No mercy *
* No, no, no *
- [Brooke] What about kings?
- I feel Kings is so solid.
He has such, you just know that his integrity is so intact
that he's very hard to shift.
People love Kings,
people 100% confident that he's faithful.
He will have influence
when he wants to push the button.
- You're never gonna get him banished.
So you might wanna just cut him out right now
while we have control.
- I agree.
- Okay. One of those three.
- Such a hard decision bro.
* Send my spirit free, yeah *
(intense music)
* No mercy *
- [Brooke] Oh, this feels mean.
- You will be missed.
* No mercy *
(intense music)
* No mercy *
- [Matt] Next time, a final plea.
- I am 100% faithful.
You're not focusing on so many other people.
- [Paul] Falls on deaf ears.
- I'm still keeping an eye on her.
- [Paul] As a fight breaks out.
- What the fuck, everyone?
We're not gonna stop the puzzling and get everyone to go,
wait guys, let's get the thing puzzled.
This is not primary school.
We don't hand out participation awards.
- [Paul] And bitter words.
- I just think there's something ugly
about the way it was done.
- [Paul] Turn to threats.
- You're don't agree if you put his name down.
