"ONLY A WOMAN WHO HAS GIVEN BIRTH WITHOUT ANESTHESIA
WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE PAIN
OF A MAN WITH THE FLU."
[suspenseful music]
[silence]
man: Well, at least
he's finally in a better place.
man 2: Yes.
Fortunately he can rest now.
What a nice ceremony, don't you think?
man: Yes. Divine.
[sad music]
man 2: But all of this is so sad.
man: Poor Rodrigo.
man 2: We're going to miss him.
He was such a good person.
[man panting]
man: Well, he wasn't a bad person.
But he wasn't exactly a good person either.
Well, yeah...
I've never liked to speak badly of the dead in a cemetery.
It's probably bad luck.
man 2: Sure.
man: He could come back at night and pull our legs.
[exhales]
man 2: If we're being honest, Rodrigo was
totally normal.
Even mediocre, I'd say.
man: How old was he, 60?
man 2: No, he hadn't turned 50 yet.
-man: Really? -man 2: Yeah.
man: He was in shitty shape.
-man 2: Did you see his belly? -man: Yeah.
-[crying] -man: How long
do we have to wait...
until we can ask the widow out?
man 2: Well, you just have to respect the order of arrival.
man: What order of arrival?
man 2: I met her first.
María.
You know you can count on me for anything.
man: And me too.
man 2: Yeah, but...
we're closer.
We've known each other since high school.
-[scream] -María: Sometimes I feel like
I can still hear his voice.
-[Rodrigo screams] -man: Yes, me too.
-man: Your husband... -[scream]
was an amazing person.
Rodrigo: I'm... I'm alive!
But now the important thing is that you're OK.
I'm alive!
man: That you recover as soon as possible.
[screams] I'm alive! I'm right here!
-man: A hug? -man 2: No.
-man: Yes. María. -man 2: No.
[María sobs]
-man: María. -María.
María!
María!
María, I'm not dead!
Rodrigo: María, I'm not dead!
I'm not dead! I'm here!
[cries desperately]
María!
Rodrigo: I'm not dead!
María, no!
I'm not dead!
María!
María!
-[Rodrigo grunts] -María: Honey.
-[Rodrigo pants] -Come here, come here, honey.
-Oh, sorry. -María: No, no, it's fine.
-I'm sorry, I'm sorry. -It's OK, it's OK.
Again?
-Yes. -OK.
Yes, again, but...
but it wasn't the same nightmare.
This time I was inside the coffin.
Well, that's an improvement,
yesterday you were in the morgue.
[Rodrigo nods]
[groaning] No!
My dolphin on a wave.
No, it broke.
Yeah, looks like I did you a favor.
I know you didn't like it.
No, no, no. I like anything
you made with your own hands.
It was... How can I put it?
Hmm...
-Eccentric? [laughs] -Ah.
That's just a nice way to say it sucks.
No, don't put words in my mouth.
-What about you? -What?
Why are you dressed at this hour?
I have a Zoom with my editor.
So early?
In Madrid it's almost 1 PM.
I'm gonna get some coffee, want anything?
Yes.
A kiss.
[soft music]
[María laughs]
[soft music continues]
[upbeat music]
Rodrigo: Mom.
[music continues]
[music ends]
Now what?
Rodrigo: It's my neck.
-[nods] -Rodrigo: I think I'm going
to use the neck brace again.
Honey, they told you you didn't have to use it.
Yeah, but I think I hurt myself when I fell.
-[scared reaction] -What?
-Can you feel the earth tremor? -No.
-Rodrigo: No? -Oh, sweetie!
Oh, I think I'm getting dizzy. Maybe I have a fever.
I'm going to get Paracetamol.
-Do you need anything? -Yeah.
For you to not be so paranoid.
Paranoid?
Honey.
I love you so much.
But every time November rolls around, you become...
How can I say it?
Insufferable?
Yes, but this year is different.
I'm the same age as my mom when she died.
I saw a study online
that said that genetic inheritance exists.
So my mom passed it on to her son, to me.
-Love you. -Love you.
-I love you very much. -I love you very much.
In Australia there are 334 cases.
And that's just a really big island.
-So, the children of SM... -I'm going to my Zoom.
Yeah. They call it...
[María inaudible]
Ah.
[exhales]
is that you've taken so long to deliver the text to me
that there's now a whole sub-genre of books
on artificial intelligence and how we will be replaced.
Look, when we published "Really, it's True, Right?"
you were a forerunner.
You were 10 years ahead of fake news.
And now, there's a difference of five years.
But the wrong way.
You're absolutely right, yes.
I thought about that.
And I think now we can...
uh... refocus.
Refocus on how
now artificial intelligence, actually...
-can do... - María, you're paralyzed.
You're stuck on an idea that's old news.
We need a topic that's...
fresh, personal.
Something with real pain.
[water stops running] [humming]
editor: Let me just say one thing.
Release yourself from the pressure
- of delivering to the public. -No. No, no, no, no, no.
It's not pressure.
-Not at all. -editor: I was talking
and I have very good news.h the board of directors
Oh, that's good. You had me scared.
-What is it? - We're not going to sue you
as long as you return the advance.
OK.
Uh...
It's just...
I already spent it.
editor: I didn't catch that. What?
-That I already spent it. -editor: Ah.
I'm sure the finance department
will find a creative way to solve the problem.
You have a car, right?
Sorry, what?
Is that a pimple?
-What... what are you doing? -Rodrigo: Can you check
-this mole? -No.
Rodrigo: Please, it'll only take two seconds.
It wasn't there yesterday.
Look, it wasn't there yesterday.
-Ah, OK. -What if it's cancer?
Get your ass out of my face, please.
Please, you're the only one who can help me.
Look, I tried to take some pictures,
but it's all blurry.
Blurry.
-Blurry. Blurry. -[María agrees]
[laughs] Good thing this one is blurry.
Blurry, huh?
Hey, what's wrong?
The publisher canceled my book.
Honey, you are an amazing writer.
Yeah. Why don't you tell that to my editor?
Rodrigo: The same thing happened with your last book.
-[agrees] -Rodrigo: Lots of publishers
said no and now regret it.
Yes, but it's like the market changed
and I'm no longer new.
I feel like I was thrown out and...
left behind.
-Well, their loss. -María: No, it's my loss,
because they want the advance back
and I already...
Never mind, I don't want to talk about it.
Honey. Honey.
Calm down.
Remember, "The truth can be...
a bitter remedy.
While lying is a...
sweet poison.
You can live with the truth.
But lies give modern society life."
You...
said it exactly as I wrote it.
Rodrigo: I know your book by heart.
I'm your biggest fan.
I know you're going to make it as usual.
You know what?
I'm glad the bastard saw your ass.
I'm happy that bastard
-saw my ass. -Yeah.
I love you.
-I love you. -I love you so much.
I love you so much.
By the way, there's no way you're going like this
to dinner tonight.
-Hmm, is it tonight? - Yes.
-But I have a lot of things. -No, no.
Don't even think about it.
We already changed it like four times for you.
-I know, but I have a fever. -Even if you have Ebola,
we're going to dinner tonight, OK?
You are absolutely forbidden from boring my friends
with your stories of terminal illness.
No neck brace.
What do you mean no neck...?
What?
[song "Lady Dilemma" playing]
[mumbles]
Finish. Finish.
I'm almost done.
I'm almost done.
STAIRS
[song continues]
IDEAS FOR NEW BOOK
IDEAS FOR NEW BOOK
receptionist: More here. Here.
- Good morning, Mr. Rodrigo. -Good morning.
Shall I get you some coffee?
-No. -Good morning, Mr. Rodrigo.
Good morning.
receptionist: Antacid.
-Baking soda. -[agrees]
-Lorazepam. -All that, thank you.
-Can you pass me a thermometer? -Yes, of course.
-Which one? -The one with mercury.
Rodrigo: And the forehead one. Well, to...
-To compare. -Rodrigo: Right, yes.
Thank you.
I'll bring you your medicine, Mr. Rodrigo.
Rodrigo: Yes.
[song continues]
IDEAS FOR NEW BOOK
Thirty-six point two?
Thirty seven.
[mouth sounds]
-Mr. Rodrigo. -[song ends]
Your medication.
Thank you.
-Hermosilla arrived. -What?
[high heel footsteps]
[exhales]
I LOVE YOU YOUR SECRET ADMIRER
man: My daughter just got back from her sabbatical.
And found a very serious issue in the design.
Well, I was in charge of the whole project
and I personally reviewed every detail.
Everything is just like in the plans and the rendering.
That's precisely the problem.
The same. Everything is the same.
Look, I'm returning from Southeast Asia
and I learned a lot about spaces,
-and chop suey... -Feng shui?
Ah, you've been to Southeast Asia?
-No. -man: Then why
are you correcting her?
daughter: No, but that's...
Well, now I see
why you don't understand much.
I'll break it down for you.
According to the rules of chop suey,
your design needs a...
wow factor.
man: That's what it needs.
The wow factor.
Do you know the Porsche Design Tower?
No.
It's the one right next to the Ventry Building.
No.
Really?
Sorry, but what does all this have to do with the house?
-Everything. -Everything.
daughter: You see, when I graduated, my Dad
got me a pink BMW.
So, I wanted to ask you to make...
a very small modification
to your design to...
honor the Porsche Design Tower.
Oh, but wait. I'll show you.
Here, just look at this.
It's an elevator
that takes the car up to the house.
[piano music]
Rodrigo: Yes, but to use an elevator
that can take a car that size,
we'd have to break two floors
and use a system of beams throughout the house.
That's why we're going to use a hydraulic lift
that holds up to 2,000 kilos.
-A lift? -man: My daughter told me,
"How the king of the forklift
doesn't have a lift at home?"
-And she's absolutely right. -But wouldn't it be
enough for it to be in the garage?
Sorry.
But there's nothing stupider
than having your car in the garage.
Rodrigo, listen to me.
I owe your father
my life.
I really am very indebted to him.
And we're here in your architecture firm
because he recommended us.
But if you can't handle this project with the lift,
tell us and we'll take it somewhere else.
And, hey... we have to paint it all pink, you know,
to match everything, et cetera.
I mean, think about pantones,
one pink like strawberries and cream,
but much more retro.
[clears throat] I mean, Dad, he isn't listening to me.
[Rodrigo breathes hard]
Excuse me, do you notice my eyelids drooping?
-man: What? -You don't see that?
Don't you see it? You don't...
You don't see that?
Oh...
That can be a symptom of a neurological problem.
That happened to my friend.
Is she OK?
Good. Buried.
She died six months ago, in fact.
-Now that you mention it... -What?
I do see. It's the left one, right?
No, the right one.
Even worse, that's the one my friend had.
What? Are you looking at my left eye with your right eye
or my right eye with your right eye?
Because I'm dyslexic, so I don't...
-It's just that they both... -I have to go.
I have to leave urgently. Excuse me.
[dramatic music]
doctor: You're going to apply this ointment
twice a day, for a week.
It's for the itch.
And for the burning, this one.
But just once a day
and just one week.
One week.
patient: Thank you very much.
I am eternally indebted to you.
receptionist: Is this your first visit to the urologist?
You're five minutes early,
so please, take a seat and we'll be with you shortly.
-patient 2: OK. -Thank you.
patient 2: Thank you very much.
-receptionist 2: Mr. Rodrigo. -Yes. I have an emergency.
Yes, I imagine, but I'm strictly forbidden
from letting you in without an appointment.
-Yes. -So, you'll forgive me...
-I understand, but... -[astonishment]
-Mr. Rodrigo, Mr. Rodrigo! -patient: You can ask me
anything you want.
-Rodrigo: Dad! -[door squeaks]
-Rodrigo: Father. -doctor: Rodrigo.
You can't interrupt,
I'm in the middle of a consultation.
It's no problem, don't worry.
Take care of him, he looks...
worried.
[speaks in Latin] In the name of the Father, the Son
and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
-Rodrigo: Amen. -Amen.
doctor: See you later, Father.
Rodrigo: See?
-"Take care of the young man." -I have five minutes.
What is it now?
Isn't it obvious?
My eyelid.
Rodrigo: My eyelid!
My eyelid is drooping.
Well, maybe both of them.
And I have a fever.
My neck pain is back,
-from the injury. -You never had an injury.
Can you check my eyelids, please?
-Maybe it's a sign of... -There's nothing wrong with you!
And it's no reason to run away from work.
What?
Hermosilla called me.
He told me you don't want to finish his house.
I finished, it's delivered!
Alright.
I can't believe you can't add a stupid lift
because of your paranoia.
Oh, yeah? Oh, yeah?
Oh, yeah? And what about this mole that just appear, huh?
What about that? Is it psychological?
Did you have a pen in your pocket?
Um...
Well, maybe.
It's ink.
Are you sure?
You know what you have to do.
I'm not going to get better talking to someone.
My pains are as real as Mom's.
Did you know that this year
I'll be the same age Mom was when she died?
Have you heard of
Transgenerational mortuary synchrony?
Did you read it online?
What if what happened to Mom was hereditary?
It's not hereditary
when you're hit by a truck!
So, if you're not going to see a psychologist,
don't come back here!
Get out!
Get out of here!
Damn it.
[phone ringing]
Rodrigo, we agreed that tonight wasn't about you.
[Rodrigo complains]
-You feel the earth tremor? -No, nothing is trembling.
And you don't have a fever.
I feel like my blood pressure is dropping.
I'm going to get in the car
and if you're not down in five minutes,
forget about me.
-María: No the neck brace! -But...
man: Years and years of being careful
and when I decide to have surgery,
within a week of getting a vasectomy,
boom, happiness struck, we got pregnant.
I never imagined I'd be changing diapers
at almost 40.
-Just imagine. -wife: Almost 40.
-María: How old is Marito now? -Huh?
He'll kill you if you call him Marito. He's 18.
Ah, yeah, Marito is a full-grown man.
The bigger they get, the bigger the problems.
What about last time? He got... really drunk.
He lost his cell phone.
He stayed at a friend's house,
we had to go get him at 4 AM. Oh, no, no.
You were very smart not wanting to have kids.
Really, enjoy.
Carlos, don't say that.
Oh, well, but it's the truth.
You don't want have kids, do you?
Rodrigo: Less so because of my condition.
But it's a complex issue. We're not going to...
-María: Honey, we agreed... -What condition?
Rodrigo: Well, I have bad genes.
My mom died when I was 15.
No, your mom was hit by a bus.
So genes have nothing to do with it.
We're both healthy.
In fact, if we wanted to have a kid,
he would be born without problems.
Yes, without problems
until his dad died, right?
Let's change the subject. How's your book coming?
They canceled it.
So now I'm looking for new topics.
Hello. Are you ready to order dessert?
-Carlos: Yes. -wife: Please.
We have an amazing tiramisu, the house specialty.
-I want the tiramisu. -waiter: Right away.
Oh, yes, make it three.
-waiter: Excellent. Sir? -Is it made here?
waiter: Yes, sir.
Rodrigo: Does it have peanuts and dried fruit?
waiter: No.
Eggs?
I don't know, I'll ask.
Yes, please ask the chef if he knows the provenance
of the eggs and dairy.
-waiter: Yes. Right away. -Rodrigo: Thank you.
-Hey, you have coffee, right? -waiter: Yes.
Do you know what kind of bean?
Because I'm allergic to...
María: He's not allergic to anything.
You're not allergic, honey.
You took all the tests, so...
If you don't want tiramisu, ask for something else.
-That's a lie. -It's true.
All the tests said I'm lactose intolerant.
-And to fructose, glucose. -Yes. But the...
[clears throat] Sorry.
But...
internet tests don't count, right?
waiter: So... three tiramisu, right?
-wife: Please. -waiter: Yes.
Right away. Sir?
A glass of water.
-waiter: Right away. -No ice.
waiter: Of course. Right away.
Rodrigo: The New York Times published a report
explaining
that most ice in plastic bags
-contains fecal bacteria... -María: Stop.
Damn.
What?
Is it strange not to want to eat poop?
Poop.
Rodrigo: María, please wait!
I always think you'll be over it,
but every anniversary of your mother's death
you go backward and turn into this.
-Into what? -Into
an unbearable hypochondriac
who thinks so much about death
that he doesn't realize he is alive.
In the beginning, the first crises were
manageable,
but Rodrigo, now they're huge.
And they last longer and longer.
We went from a day to a month
and I don't know if you realize, but we live our whole lives
based on what might happen to you in November.
And you get more and more paralyzed.
-I get paralyzed? -Yes, you become paralyzed
and you paralyze me.
Carlos and Sofía have a life,
they have children, travel the world,
and we're not even married.
Because you're so afraid,
you prefer not to go on with your life.
Can anyone tell me
how the hell I'm supposed to write a book
when I'm this stuck?
[María sobs]
[grunting]
Now what?
Rodrigo: I'm having trouble breathing.
María: I can't believe you.
And my skin feels weird.
[Rodrigo complains]
Honey.
Tell me you're making that face.
-Rodrigo: What face? -María: Sweetie.
[tragic music]
Honey! Honey.
[tragic music continues]
María: Help!
Please, someone!
Ambulance!
Please help!
doctor: How long has he been like this?
Twenty minutes, doctor.
[inaudible]
nurse: Make way.
María: I'm with you. Honey, everything will be OK.
What's going on?
doctor: Bed three. Hurry up.
María: What's going on?
nurse: Ma'am, you can't go there.
-Don't worry. -Honey. Honey!
-No, no. Please, please. -nurse: Calm down.
Honey. I'm right here.
Honey. Please!
[tragic music]
[bustling hospital corridors]
[Rodrigo's Dad murmurs]
How is he?
He had a panic attack, but he's OK.
What?
I don't understand. His face was paralyzed.
Were you arguing?
Um...yes.
It's normal at this time.
It's idiopathic paralysis.
-What is that? -A paralysis
that happens to all idiots like my son.
María: Fernando.
It is a condition
that causes sudden and momentary weakness
in the facial muscles.
But with the drugs he was given
he'll be fine in two or three hours.
Tomorrow he'll be good as new.
And he fainted from the shock of seeing himself
with those conditions.
The truth is that it's all in his head.
-For a change. -But this time I think
we can help him improve.
Right?
Maybe after this scare, he'll decide to go to therapy.
If I'm being honest, I don't think I can stand
another year of crisis.
My son is very stubborn.
The only way to get him to therapy
is if he doesn't know he's doing it.
I don't understand.
I have a plan, but we need to act immediately,
before he wakes up.
I gave him some morphine to buy us a little time.
What do you mean you gave him morphine?
-Didn't you say he's fine? -Yes, he's fine.
We're not well.
I need you to meet someone.
Who?
Fernando: Now.
-Now? -Now.
-Fernando. -Fernando: Yes.
-María: Who? -therapist: Rodrigo's ailments
are not in the plane of the physical,
but he does suffer from them on a psychic level.
And this will get worse every anniversary of the trauma.
No, well...
Throughout the year he's a normal hypochondriac
and I could even say that we have...
a relatively good life.
It's...
only when November comes.
therapist: Hmm...
He has entered a new phase.
He's somatizing.
That's why
psycho performance
is your only option.
And what is that? Some sort of shock therapy?
Psychoanalysis heals
through words.
We heal
through actions.
Trust.
Psycho performance is very effective.
I have so many amazing examples.
Mariana and Carlos.
Carlos and Mariana.
-On the verge of divorce. - How much do you love him?
Until they literally walked
-in each other's shoes. - How much do you love him?
-Mariana: A lot. -therapist: Who is it?
-And everything changed. -Mariana: Mariana.
therapist: Who is it?
Carlos: Carlos.
Who loves Carlos?
Mariana.
Beautiful!
- The baby is dead! -man: No.
- Give it to me. Be free. - No.
-therapist: José Pedro. - Free yourself!
-Forty-three years old. - Free yourself!
He didn't want to leave his parents' house.
Until he saw himself as a baby
and decided to move forward.
[screaming]
Guadalupe.
Beautiful thing!
-She couldn't get pregnant. - You're strong!
Until she connected with her inner animal...
- You are life! -[scream]
- You are belly! - [screams]
- You are chicken! -[crowing]
...and she took care of an egg
for 28 days and nights.
- Gabriela... -Uh, yes. Yeah, yeah, I got it.
What do you want from me?
We have to work together.
You have to do exactly
what we tell you so this will work.
No. No, that...
sounds like I'm going to have to act.
-therapist: It's a performance. -But I'm terrible at that.
-Cancel that thought. -OK.
Do you love him?
Of course.
Why?
Because...
I don't know, because he's...
my best friend, he's...
the person I can talk to
about literally everything and...
and he has a lot of faith in me,
more than I've ever had in myself.
It is because of him that I left my previous job
and I became a writer.
It's because of him...
that I am who I am.
And he has blind faith in me.
Hmm.
So, now it's your turn
to believe in him.
To believe in his recovery.
But listen,
going off plan before it's time,
revealing the truth,
could be fatal to him.
Fernando: Do you accept?
[tense music]
[silence]
speaker: Code one in room 211.
[Fernando mumbles]
[Fernando mumbles] Once he wake up...
[Fernando continues mumbling]
Hmm.
[grunting]
[grunting]
[María cries] [dramatic music]
Sorry.
It's just...
I didn't know...
it was so serious.
Fernando: Well, Rodrigo...
I'll try to be
as professional as possible right now.
What do I have?
The Sumatran worm virus.
Ah, Sumatra.
That's... a very new disease.
We don't have much information yet.
But the lab results
just confirmed it.
Oh, God, why?
So, is there a cure?
Not yet.
But we're not going to give up.
We had to induce a coma to deflate your brain.
What?
I'm sick.
Fernando: Yes.
I'm sick.
I'm... sick.
Yeah, I'm not a hypochondriac, I told you.
And I told you, that I... Ah!
[Rodrigo laughs]
I'm... sick!
Oh, I can't believe it.
Did you hear that? I'm sick.
I'm sick.
I'm sick.
I'm sick?
I'm... I'm...
I'm sick and I don't want to die.
Honey, I don't wanna die.
Oh, God, please, I don't...
I don't want to die.
I don't want...
-What can we do? -You go on.
-I don't want to die, please. -No, my love.
Calm down.
-Fernando: Son. -What?
We will find the solution for this disease together, huh?
Are you sure, Dad?
What is safe in life?
Well, death, Dad, death.
-Don't say that, please. -Rodrigo: And...
And do you know what the symptoms are?
I called the few cases detected
in the few that have been found.
Intermittent deafness has been found,
-which... -[silence]
[tense music]
What? No. I can't hear you.
María, I can't hear. How long was I in a coma for, honey?
No, don't worry, please. I don't know, like...
[silence]
What? What?
How long? I can't hear you, María!
Fernando: As more cases occur in the world,
more symptoms will be discovered that...
[silence]
Huh?
And someone who has this disease,
how long do they live?
As far as we know...
[silence]
-...days. -What?
-Oh, no. I can't hear you. -María: No.
Don't hit yourself, please. No, damn it.
-Fernando: Son. -Sorry.
What's important is that you don't fall...
-[silence] -But I can't...
I can't hear you, Dad!
But I can hear everything else.
I can hear all the background sounds.
Fernando: It's worse than I thought.
In addition to intermittent deafness,
you have selective deafness.
[silence]
[tense music]
Honey, no, no... I can't hear you.
[Rodrigo sobs]
[tense music ends]

You're gonna need it.
OK.

There. Good.
Well...
Here we are. Let's enjoy being home.
Even if it's just for a while.
And everything will be fine.
Tomorrow you're going to feel so much better.
-Yes. -We'll be able
to be together and relax.
Even if it's just a little. [laughs]
Look...
-What is that? -This is for...
your hearing problem.
For the eardrum.
It deflates the eardrum.
I don't understand, I can hear fine now.
See? It's already having an effect.
I haven't even taken it yet.
Remember, it's an internal hearing problem...

María: That's it, perfect.
OK, now try to breathe and relax.

Rodrigo: Everything will be fine.

a better quality of life than what we have now.
You'll be able to write all you want
without worrying about being given
an advance by publishers.
María: Yeah, well, I'm not so sure about that.
Rodrigo: Don't worry, we have the money.
-I've got it all figured out. -We don't have it.

our funeral home has an agreement

There was a reason for each element of the treatment.
Every symptom was pointing
to a problem with Rodrigo's psyche.
The glasses with greater magnification
were to understand
that he wasn't seeing his life with clarity.

made him feel like it was time to grow up.
Fake urine,

But, obviously,
feeling that nobody believed him
Rodrigo began to somatize his state in life.
I warned you.
Lifting the veil too soon
could have disastrous consequences.
However, there is a solution.
It happens all the time in nature.
When animals feel threatened,
they have two possibilities.
To be paralyzed by fear
or to start living.
What we have to do now
is to transform Rodrigo into an animal that runs.
-The one who dares to live. -María: No.
No, no more games,

When my sculptures broke,
it was such a tragedy.
Until I saw the opportunity to transform their story
with the Japanese technique of kintsugi.
I had to break myself
to reassemble myself and then heal myself.
Each of the repaired sculptures
represents resilience,
reminding us that our wounds
can become our strengths
and make us more human.
Today, I am a man freed from his hypochondria.
My only obsession is art.
Thank you.
