25 years ago, America launched Overture, a generation shift to a nearby star.

Today, Overture is the set of the first reality show shot in space.

Through confessionals, we'll learn the crew's love, fears, and most secret

dream. Welcome to personal space.

Things are better.

They're a lot better, actually.

It clears the system, not just physically, but mentally.

The main gym's fine, but King Spot does have something to it. It's almost like a

sauna.

He

can

still do 100 push -ups.

That's amazing for a guy his age.

When we did our physical readiness test, I don't think anyone in my group could

have done that.

I told her, look, you're in prison right now.

More or less.

So do your time. Don't let your time do you.

And I have finally had some uninterrupted time to do my research.

I think things are starting to approach a sense of normalcy, which is a relief.

I have dealt with budget cuts.

and shared labs before. I am as resourceful as an ex -researcher, but

some sort of magician.

She has a greenhouse bigger than the whole comm section.

She can move some plants around.

Rodney never complained about space.

Space -to -yield ratio isn't something I can change.

We need space, so I offered her some in my workstation.

She can grow her control group plants there, and I wanted to appear with my

work. I can only grow things in her station that I could grow in any other

trafficked areas.

I need climate control.

She also needed a place to grow sweet potatoes.

A place that's warm and humid. There aren't many vegetables that store well

container and store for months after harvest.

Sweet potatoes fit.

And they're a tropical plant. They want tropical condition.

If everyone wants to eat...

I have to make do.

So, that's what I get for sharing my spot.

Buckets of sweet potatoes all over my workout space.

Deb's got her plan situated, and now there are heat lamps.

Work up a sweat, clear the body and mind.

Besides, a little change is good.

Knock on wood, I can get some observations in this week.

King is at least acting as part of the solution, helping with the food storage.

Gardner needs to step up and deal with this.

I can't believe Gardner ruined my spot.

And I keep hoping that this team will step up to the challenge.

Gardner isn't ready to be commander.

Amy, I saw it. I never should have seen anything this early, but there it was.

A consistent streak against all those stars.

We're too far out for it to have been anything else.

It's an Oort Cloud candidate object.

This means I may see hundreds, maybe thousands during my shift.

I have 25 years to keep learning and studying.

I don't think anything can bring me down today.

That's fantastic, Lieutenant Commander.

What did you just call me?

Hey. So, uh, does this thing, is this thing working, or did I just do another

Instagram time -lapse thing by accident?

Uh, oh, uh, welcome to SpaceX.

That is my new show.

This. This is my new show. SpaceX.

Uh, and you know, even though this isn't as high of a budget as I'm used to,

we're still gonna have fun.

In fact, don't forget that I called it SpaceX.

Let's call it Space...

Space party.

Space jam!

Yeah, except without Michael Jordan.

Or LeBron James, I guess, depending on which version you're watching.

You know what, let's actually just get started. Today, we're going to talk

the Oort Cloud, which you may have heard of, because it is named after Jan Oort,

which is actually spelled Jan, but pronounced Jan.

Wait a second.

I think Jan.

Edit that part out, but I don't know how.

Anyway, in 1932, Jan Oort had the idea of a cloud of icy planetesimals, which

are little grains of planet dirt that surround the sun out past Pluto.

And they're easily affected by the gravity of passing stars because they're

loosely bound to the sun. So sometimes they get knocked out of their orbit, and

then they go shooting at the sun like a giant cosmic slingshot, which

is...

Okay, I really hope that wasn't too tense. I wanted to have little pop -ups

the facts down in this area. It would make it exciting.

But I used to do that in post -production with a guy that I don't have

Well, I hope you enjoyed this episode of Space Facts.

Tune in next time.
