25 years ago, America launched Overture, a generation ship to a nearby star.

Today, Overture is the set of the first reality show shot in space.

Through confessionals, we'll learn the crew's loves, fears, and most secret

dreams. Welcome to personal space.

We found it last night.

A dull rotation, all boards green, no Donkey Kong or recorder sounds, nothing

but. A rare, quiet day up here in the great big beyond, and then an

amazing discovery.

Deborah and I found it during an inventory of hydroponic gear.

I saw something glistening, and obviously I realized I'd have to share

Deborah, but I really hoped there was going to be some left over for Gale,

I intercepted them and sequestered it.

For safekeeping, of course.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with it. Here's what we should do with

it. It's drinking.

I mean, when is the next time we're going to find a wine cooler in space?

Are you excited by this discovery?

Of course I'm excited about the Oort Cloud Comet. I never expected to see

anything this early through my telescope.

It's also not really what I expected. It's spinning really fast, and it's

small, and it's bright, even visible with the infrared.

I'm sorry, but I was referring to the wine cooler.

Oh. My best guess is some contractor left the wine cooler here by mistake

the assembly process.

There are strict rules about building a still, and for good reason.

There are nukes on board, and you don't want drunk, lonely people with the

trigger.

But if you were to find alcohol already on board... A wine cooler is less than

5 % alcohol.

Barely worth drinking by one person, let alone all of us.

So it should be given to one crew member.

And that crew member should be me.

I found it. I should drink it.

Gail can join me if she likes. I mean, she's the commander.

So I decide who drinks it.

I'm in charge.

Well, I suppose in the strictest sense, the captain is in charge.

But who wants to share a drink with a guy who, according to rumor, volunteered

for a nuclear airstrike in Vietnam?

We do have five chairs in the mess hall.

The extra one is for the captain when he's awake.

Guess which chair King sits in. I'm going to let King fall on his own sword

here. My plan is still to win everyone over long term, and there's no decision

King can make about the wine that's going to make everyone happy.

All I'm saying is I don't want King to drink it.

Deciding what to do with this is surprisingly fraught.

Using empirical data, Gail, you are the most important crew member with the

finest record, and therefore you should be the candidate to consume the

beverage. Using empirical data, Robert, you are the most important crew member

with the finest record. You should be the candidate to consume the beverage.

You should be the candidate to consume the beverage. Right here, Amy. Give me

five. Amy, I drank that thing weeks ago.

It's my urine in there right now.

Don't tell them, though. This is fun.

My entire crew is screaming at each other over this wine cooler.

I almost drank the thing myself in front of all of them just to shut them up.

But you didn't?

No.

So I, uh, I did the only thing I could.

He launched it into space!

And then we watched it spin around and around.

Just floating out there like a delicious...

glowy meteorite. It crashed right into one of our radars.

We're riding it out where Freeman makes a lot of noise with wrenches, welding

torches, and swear words.

Well, I guess I'm just going to have to stay awake a while longer to make sure

the fix holds, right?

Gardner says they're playing with the sheriff.

King was being needlessly dramatic.

I am obligated to inform you that this is not the first time he has instructed

you. He gave you space for your sweet potatoes only because Gale forced him

The others have said King only cares about himself.

I didn't buy it at first, but now I wonder if even fixing the cosmic ray was

selfish.

So, what are you going to do about it?

Amy, it's great that Gardner got him to take the food shortage seriously, but

even she couldn't get him into cryo.

Maybe there's nothing we can do.

You know, we have grape juice on this ship.

Rocket fuel, cough syrup, a botanist and an engineer.

We could have an endless supply of alcohol.

What could go wrong?
