King's been going on about the chain of command this entire time. It's the

cornerstone of his argument.

I mean, he couldn't ignore an order from the captain to stand down, even if he

wanted to.

During the first shift, King woke up the captain.

How'd that work out?

You're only supposed to wake up the captain in emergencies.

This doesn't qualify.

The captain's a guy who's experienced for the next 1 ,200 years is going to be

waking up with icy ammonia in his veins, solving some impossible problem, and

then being refrozen over and over and over again.

I mean, he is not going to be fun at parties, but that doesn't mean he's not

going to be able to solve the problem.

I am not waking the captain right after my shift began.

The problem is too many of us are awake, and he wanted to solve that by waking

up someone else.

I just need to keep everyone calm until I figure out a better way.

Blaster didn't even want a discussion.

He wanted to forcibly put King back into cryo.

The ship's doctor's need to tend to his patients overrides the chain of command.

King is my patient, and he'll die of old age if he stays awake for the whole

ship, so I can make a medical decision to throw him in the ice cream truck.

Which is what I decided to call the cryo -wing.

And the colonists in the ice cream truck are called popsicles.

I'll have to work while King's sleeping. Otherwise, he'll probably start

punching me.

I don't like what Blasto is doing. If he can find all these loopholes to get

around King, then he can probably do the same to the rest of us.

You do not like that Stanley is using rules to get what he wants.

Even when it benefits you.

That's different.

I can't wait to hear the details of the doctor's plan.

No matter what, I won't need to bother the captain.

Oh, it's fairly dangerous.

If he woke up during the procedure, he could panic. His body would produce

adrenaline, causing runaway tachycardia.

It's probably not lethal, but...

Who knows?

Gail managed to convince Blasta that putting King in danger would be acting

against the same rule that would have allowed him to take that action in the

first place.

She's been a lot firmer with King, and I don't know how he's going to justify

staying awake much longer.

Now that he's boxed himself in, the rules can be used against him.

If King had gone back into cryo, we'd have been hung out to dry half a dozen

times by now.

I don't know what Gardner's going to do if she succeeds.

But if we don't solve this supply shortage problem, we're all going to pay

it. King talked to Debra, who is now presenting everyone with ration charts.

It was the only sensible thing to do.

We've crossed an important line.

Reason and rules have failed.

I'm not looking forward to what might come next.
