that the German expedition to
Nanga Parbat led by Dr Herrligkoffer

was successful.

According to initial reports

the summit of the
8125 metre mountain

was reached on 27 June.

The conquest of the mountain
was evidently overshadowed

by the death of one climber.

We do not yet know
who the dead man was.

free from Nanga Parbat.

He has to look for
his brother many times.

In 1978 he climbs Nanga Parbat
for the second time.

No expedition.
No equipment. All alone.

Karl Herrligkoffer continued
to lead expeditions in the Himalayas.

When he died in 1991, there was still
no reconciliation with Reinhold.

Peter Scholz,
one of Germany's best climbers

fell to his death on Mont Blanc.

Felix Kuen committed suicide
a few years later.

In 2005 the ice released
G�nther's remains

at 4300 m, on the Diamir Glacier.
