MTV
- This is just like Willy Wonka and the fudge factory,
except you want the Golden Ticket and not the fudge.
- This is a cutthroat game.
I am willing to stoop to the absolute bottom
to get this cash.
- I was just waiting for the free shuttle bus.
Is this the free clinic?
- Am I competitive? I mean, who isn't?
Jesus was competitive and a biscuit.
- You're not my real dad, and you never will be.
- Sister, what is this?
- What the fuck?
- What is this, honey?
- I am literally in RuPaul's backyard.
And I'm not gonna lie. I'm a little scared.
- Attention, all players.
The first game is Ru Light, Green Light.
My God.
- The rules are as follows.
When the beat drops, you'll serve your best moves.
- OK.
- When the beat stops, you'll strike a pose.
But if you flop, you will be eliminated.
- With that, let the Squirrel Games begin.
- Peek-a-Ru!
Lord!
- Any wrong move can kill you, bitch.
And you want to stay alive.
Peek-a-Ru!
- These bitches are dropping like flies.
These bitches are getting pies left and right,
up, down, side to side.
They just cream-pied the shit
out of Kerri Colby, honey.
I don't think that's ever gonna come out
of that human hair.
- I'm here with my drag mom, Trinity The Tuck,
and she's the best in the business.
So we're definitely gonna win this, OK?
Peek-a-Ru!
- Attention, all players.
The first game is over.
14 players will continue.
- Ooh.
Let's go.
"RuPaul's Drag Race"
The winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race"
receives a one-year supply
of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics
and a gag-worthy grand prize of $200,000,
courtesy of TodayTix, the theater ticket app.
With extra-special guest judge Katy Perry.
"RuPaul's Drag Race"
May the best drag queen win, best drag queen win
- Why are y'all gagging?
I haven't even stepped on any necks yet.
My name's Lexi Love, and I put the whore in hormones.
I'm the first one!
My God!
I am number one.
I'm literally gagging.
Girl, one second,
Lil' Poundcake is throwing pies at me.
And now here I am.
I want to sit on this.
Wait, I want to sit on this too.
God.
My drag is sexy and fun and playful.
I love fashion.
I love to roller-skate in drag.
I like to call it "avant-stoopid,"
and that's two Os, like boobs.
I've been doing drag for 13 years.
I have put those dues in.
Mom, I'm home.
When's dinner?
Welcome to Joella Dynasty, bitch.
I'm Joella, and I'm the Slaysian Diva of Los Angeles.
At a Joella show, expect to have your breath taken away.
My numbers always thrive on the mix.
I do a lot of high energy.
It's just electrifying.
It's a Joella experience.
Hey.
- Bitch, OK!
Season 17, what's up, girl?
- Mwah. - Ooh.
I'm sorry.
I'm not trying to sabotage you yet.
- There'll be plenty of time for that.
- My drag persona is very cunty.
But actually, deep down, I'm a very nice person.
Or am I?
Where is everyone else?
- I know, girl.
They're probably all still at Squirrel Games.
- Girl, when they threw those pies,
I was not fucking around, because I
paid a lot of money for this.
OK? - You did?
- Yeah. - I'm just kidding.
Good morning, kingdom.
Hear ye, hear ye.
It is me, Kori King, the Black Barbie from Boston.
It's time to shake things up.
- I feel like I'm staring at the reincarnation
of RuPaul Charles herself, Mama.
- OK.
- Kori is known for big blonde hair,
tiny little waist, big fat, juicy ass.
My sisters. - Ooh!
- The survivors. How are you?
- Look at you. - Yeah, bitch.
You brought the Pride float. Fuck.
- I used to be a manga artist, and I used to do animation.
So in drag, I really want to look easy to draw.
I'm not one of those campy comedy queens.
- Same. - I'm a demure, petite woman.
I'm not like the rest of those Boston girls.
- Yes.
- My drag family's kind of hectic.
You may know my good sister Ms. Plane Jane.
We are definitely two sides of the same shady coin.
Ooh, ooh, ooh.
- Did someone say my name three times?
Ooh.
- The answer is no.
- My name is Lydia B Kollins.
The B stands for Butthole.
And I am the raunchiest queen from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
We survived the Squirrel Games! - Hey!
- Lydia comes from my favorite character
in "Beetlejuice," Lydia Deetz.
I get a lot of inspiration from Tim Burton,
John Waters, David Lynch.
I am sort of known to make everything that I wear,
- make everything that I do. - Period.
Right.
My drag is very DIY, cut it, hack it up,
glue it back together.
And if it's not completely 100% perfect,
that's all right with me.
I value creativity over perfection.
- Did you make this?
- Yes.
- OK, OK.
- Ooh.
- Bitch, I'm scared.
- Hi.
I'm Arrietty, and I'm Thee Elusive Elven Deity
from Seattle, Washington.
My drag is very eccentric.
It's very dark, mysterious, very sexy.
- What is she trying to be?
- A porcupine.
A porcupine?
- Diva! - Come on, bitch.
- Yow.
- When it comes to looks, I'm very conceptual.
No one's gonna eat me up on that.
I'm gonna chew them up.
I'm from Seattle, Washington.
Go on, Seattle.
- My drag mom is Irene The Alien.
- Whoa. - No way!
- Yes. Yes.
- Do you plan on outlasting her?
I don't like this game.
- I know my mother, Irene, went home first.
I'm my own entity.
I'm gonna go further.
- Ru, she wants to go home first.
- Don't worry.
I'm not just a bitch.
I'm that bitch.
- Ding.
I am Jewels Sparkles, and I'm from Tampa, Florida.
Ding.
Ding.
Ding.
Jewels Sparkles' aesthetic is very, very girly.
I love anything pink.
I love things that sparkle.
- She's a dangerous woman.
- Which end is that coming out of?
Both.
What's good, bitches?
Yeah.
- Jewels Sparkles is the Latina supermodel
with one brain cell.
- What are your drag inspirations?
- I love Ariana Grande. - Wow.
- And then there's a lot of Priscilla Presley too.
- Work. - I love Priscilla Presley.
- I see it. - But how old are you?
- 22. - Really?
- Ooh! - Yeah.
I think the other queens are definitely
going to underestimate me.
They're gonna think I'm nothing but a look queen,
but I've done a lot with my short
little three-year career.
And I want them to underestimate me.
Do it, bitch.
God damn it.
I came here slay, hey
- Gouda morning, dreamers.
Is she wearing lingerie?
- Hi, I am Lana Ja'Rae, and I am the girl of your dreams.
Not PG-13, because I'm giving you
sex, class, and a little bit of ass,
because little booties do matter.
Bitch. Shut up.
Lana Ja'Rae is the one, the only, the ova.
She is going to bring it to you every single time.
- Tell us about your drag. - Tell us about yourself.
- I'm from New York City,
and I'm Luxx Noir London's drag daughter.
Ooh!
- Of course I'm letting everyone know
that I am the daughter of Luxx Noir London
from season 15, because I know that's gonna intimidate them.
- So she's gonna give us fashion.
- She's gonna give us fashion. - OK.
- She's gonna give you legs, body.
- Very ooh. - OK.
- Ooh. - Wow.
There's a queen.
- Well, I heard y'all were looking for America's next
drag superstar.
I am Sam Star.
I am the country cutie with a rock and roll booty,
the supermodel of the South.
- Yes!
- Sam Star gives you a little bit of Marilyn Monroe,
a lot of bit of Jessica Simpson,
and the craziness of Joe Exotic, the Tiger King.
Ladies!
The Southern belle has arrived.
I love all things pageant, sparkly, fabulous.
Basically, if it's gay, I love it.
- Samantha.
- Niecie! - Samantha!
Hello.
- Everybody, this is my drag niece.
- This is my auntie.
- I am the daughter of the legendary Trinity The Tuck.
No way.
- We got to tell the girls you're a pageant queen.
Yes, I'm a pageant queen.
- I am the current reigning National Apollo.
I was top three last year at National
Entertainer of the Year. - Ooh.
- Ooh. - You better.
- Sam is definitely going to be somebody
who is extremely competitive.
Knowing her drag family background,
it means she might be a little bit of a she-devil.
- Well, it do take Nurve.
It's your girl Onya Nurve, aka Onyanetta,
aka, Ms. Nerve if you're nasty.
And, bitch, I'm from Cleveland.
- Yes, ma'am.
- She's so '70s.
- I see these other bitches checking me out.
They see that I did not come here to play.
Sisters!
Hi.
I'm Onya Nurve.
- I bet you will be.
Yeah-
My drag, at the end of the day, represents Blackness,
Black people, everything Blackity, Blackity,
Blackity, Black, Black, Black.
- What's your, like, performance style?
I'm a theater queen.
- I have a BFA in painting.
I'm an artist.
I am here,
I'm queer, and I'm ready to slay the competition, Mama.
- I've always wanted my name in the papers.
My name is Suzie Toot, and I am the tap-dancing
diva of Fort Lauderdale.
Suzie Toot is the cross section between
Betty Boop and Lucille Ball.
Hot off the press, baby.
- Who is this elder Orphan Annie lady
walking into the Werk Room right now?
Hi, divas.
- She's a Broadway queen.
- What's your vibe?
- I am a musical theater girl.
- Love that. - Yes.
- Yes.
- I'm a weirdo, and I do my own shit.
- OK, OK.
- I've gotten to do a lot of really cool things
in the three years that I've been doing drag.
I starred in a camp queer horror movie
and then got to open for pop superstar Chappell Roan
in Fort Lauderdale.
Once I broke through, I broke through in a major way.
Now the name on everybody's lips is Suzie.
- Is this your stamp here?
- Yes.
This is signature Suzie to the Toot.
Another queen.
- Hello, loyal subjects.
It is I, Hormona Lisa, at your service.
Wow, that was annoying.
I am Hormona Lisa.
I'm Chattanooga, Tennessee's very own pastel princess
and the Bubblegum Babe.
My personality is really bubbly, all over the place,
a little wackadoodle, a little delulu,
just mix it all together.
I know her.
The one that RuPaul asked. - What?
- Yeah, RuPaul asked her. - You're fucking with me.
I know her from the video of RuPaul telling her
she's coming to Hollywood.
- You're going to Hollywood.
- I did not think she was actually coming to Hollywood.
- So I have a big question for you.
- Yeah, we have questions.
- Word on the street is, you were chosen?
- Hand-selected by RuPaul Charles
I think is what you meant to say.
- So unless you're living under a rock,
y'all know RuPaul picked me out of the crowd at his
Atlanta stop for his book tour.
RuPaul brought me up to the front
and asked if I've ever auditioned for the show.
I said, I actually have my audition tape
on a flash drive in my purse.
I pulled it out, handed it to RuPaul.
- Unplanned.
- And RuPaul says... - One moment. Hold on.
This was your audition.
- And then RuPaul says, "You're going to Hollywood."
- So she didn't watch it.
- Hormona has been here for five minutes,
and she has already pissed me off.
RuPaul, he hand-selected me.
RuPaul picked me.
No, girl, you followed RuPaul and you begged with a USB.
I have a question. I have a question.
Were you there for the book signing?
- I love to read.
- What was your favorite part of the book?
- Um.
God damn it.
We know her.
- Yeah.
I'd envy me too.
- I'm Crystal Envy.
I'm from Asbury Park, New Jersey, which is
a town down the Jersey Shore.
So hey, fist pump. Push-ups. Chapstick.
All that fun stuff.
And I am that girl, the grand dame,
the diamond experience, baby.
- Yeah. One more kiss.
One more kiss.
- Crystal might be this perfect, polished,
poised, clean in front of you.
But when I get competitive and when shit goes down,
it goes down, and I am not here to play.
I'm here to fight.
Hi, girlies.
- Hello.
- I know Ms. Crystal Envy.
We have competed in pageants together.
Yes, I did whup up on her.
Let's see if I can continue the pattern.
- What's drag like in New Jersey?
- According to Luxx Noir London, it's just OK.
- Ooh. - Ooh.
- Nah. Too much. Nah. Too much.
I know Crystal from social media,
and we've worked together before in New Jersey.
She is always serving a look.
She's very beautiful, very elegant, very grand.
So I know that she is going to be a huge threat and someone I
should totally keep my eye on.
- Totally tubular.
- My name is Acacia Forgot, and I am the honky-tonk
diva of Los Angeles.
I am the '80s love child of Dolly Parton
and a Stepford wife.
- New perm.
- My goal is to be the next big thing in country music.
And I want to play at Grand Ole Opry.
I want to be on country radio.
Hi, Acacia!
It's Acacia Forgot, my sister from Los Angeles.
Acacia's look is a little bit crunchy.
She has strengths in other places.
- I am a country diva.
I play the guitar.
I play so many instruments.
- She does believe in blush.
We'll give her that.
She looks like she's been smacked
around a couple of times.
- Bitch, shut up.
Daddy, I think I stained the sheets.
I am Lucky Starzzz, and I am your animated fantasy
brought to life.
Lucky Starzzz is colorful.
She's a maximalist.
- It's gay Lumiere.
So you mean just Lumiere?
- I'm always gonna be very crafty, a little bootleg.
- Bitch, chicken legs.
- Hey, hey, hey, hey.
- I use a lot of foam.
I use a lot of paper.
You know, there's Party City queens,
but I'm a Home Depot queen, OK?
- She looks nothing, and I mean nothing,
like any bitch in this room.
- What kind of drag do you do?
- I am a mixture between, like, camp and club kid.
I like to say that I'm like a living
cartoon stuck in reality.
Very bad. - What?
- Where are you from?
- Miami, Florida.
It's another Florida girl.
- I know Suzie.
- We're probably the two, like, weirdest queens in Florida.
- Honey, I'm here to claim crafty, OK?
Listen, us crafty bitches, we get the job done
while you are waiting for your designer
to ship your outfit, OK?
- Ooh, girl.
She done already done had herses.
- Season 17 is gonna be wild.
I am so excited to eat these bitches up.
My God, this is it.
- I'm excited for the twists and the turns.
Season 17, let's race.
My God, this is it.
My God.
We are about to learn the very first challenge
of "RuPaul's Drag Race" season 17.
- Hey, queens.
Hey!
- Time for a reality check.
- Ooh. - All right.
- To win this game, you've got to be
squirrellier than a squid,
more fem than a Masked Singer,
and serve more catfish than "The Circle."
You think you got what it takes to be
the best of the beast?
Yes, ma'am.
- Well, I'll be the judge of that.
Hello, hello, hello.
- Love her.
Yes, honey.
- Welcome to the 17th season of "RuPaul's Drag Race."
And surprise.
While you were playing the Squirrel Games,
I was watching.
- Aw. - Ooh.
- The winner of your first candid camera photo shoot is...
Lana Ja'Rae.
- I won the first Mini Challenge of the season.
I also didn't even know this was a Mini Challenge,
so what a better way to effortlessly win.
- You've won $2,500. - Ooh.
- We started already. - Girl, boots.
- Now, week after week, you'll be grinding your charisma,
uniqueness, nerve, and talent until one of you lucky bitches
proves to me and to the world that you are
America's next drag superstar.
Now, for our two-part premiere...
- Two? - I'm putting you in charge.
Shit.
- That's right. Rate-A-Queen is back.
- Ooh, girl!
- All right.
- But with several many twists.
This week, for your first Maxi Challenge, seven of you
will be performing on "Drag Queens got Talent."
- Yes! - Ooh!
- Yes.
- And next week, the rest of you
will be performing on "Drag Queens got Talent Part II."
- OK. - But here's the twist.
OK.
- Whichever group is not performing
will be watching and it will be up to them to rate
the performing queens.
No.
- And next week, the two queens with the lowest scores
will face off in a Lip Sync for Your Life,
and one of you will be eliminated.
- No! - God.
- OK. - Bitch.
- Some of the girls know each other prior to being here,
so friendships may come into play.
I'm excited to see how the girls
are gonna play this game.
- I am definitely taking friends into consideration
because this is a motherfucking game
and you got to play the motherfucking game.
Here's another twist.
- OK. - No.
- The decision of who performs in which
talent show is up to you.
- Bitch! - I don't know about this.
And one more thing.
- What's that?
- Tomorrow on the main stage, we'll be joined
by our extra-special guest judge, Katy Perry.
My God.
I am a Katy Cat...
the Katy Perry superfan.
In fact, I used to go by Joella Perry.
I'm literally about to pass out.
I can't believe this is happening right now.
- Racers, start your engines,
and may the best drag queen win.
- Where are we going?
- Girl, it is time to find my new home
and to get comfortable and take a little bit off.
- I'm waiting on my toes to see Lucky Starzzz.
What's under all of that craziness?
Oy.
- I'm not gonna lie, y'all, I'm looking for a man.
So I'm looking.
Yes, I'm looking.
- Freedom!
- Yes!
- Lydia out of drag is definitely my type.
I thought Lydia was gonna give me, like, Hot Topic.
Like, ooh!
But it's giving me, like, barista.
It does it for me.
The eyes... I'm like!
- Child, Jewels has gone from Ariana Grande
to '97 Jeffrey Goldblum.
I don't know what to think.
- Lucky, she looks fucking fantastic.
Girl.
How are you doing?
- I feel like we're both, like, the artsy-fartsy bitches.
Hey.
Hey, zhuzh.
- And you're from Seattle? - Yeah.
- How would you describe Seattle?
- Very fun, flirtatious, amazing.
- That's an interesting way to describe a city...
flirtatious.
How you doing, bookie?
- Let's talk about talent shows...
what do y'all plan on doing?
- Dance, choreography, very Kris Love-y glam, you know.
- Very drag. - Yeah.
- I wanted to do animal impersonations
because I host a lot of shows.
I do, like, a turkey call on the mic all the time.
- I love that. - Really? Yeah, good.
- And that's what I wanted to...
OK.
- I feel like these girls are definitely
looking at who's going to bring what to the table.
- I'm doing burlesque. - What about you?
- I'm doing, like, a mix between a rap and a line dance.
- Ooh! - Yeah.
- Analyzing which week will they shine the most in.
- Ladies, let's go decide who's going to be
on the talent show in order, darlings.
- Let's go. - OK.
- Who made you the notebook keeper?
Let's get into it.
- So raise your hand if you want to do week one.
- Week one, baby.
- I want to go week one because I will be performing
in front of Katy Perry.
I mean, I'm literally Katy Perry's number one fan.
- I do not want to be week one.
Week one is like the test dummy.
- One, two, three, four.
- I am looking around at Arrietty
and I made sure that we are in separate groups
so that we can rate each other.
- Me and Lana, we cut a deal in secret.
We're jerry-rigging the motherfucker.
- Five, six.
So that's six.
- Who's joining the team, bitch?
- I'm not opposed to doing either week.
It's just, I would love for us to be on separate weeks
because we're both doing a country performance.
- OK.
- I mean, I think battle of the countries is fun.
- I do too!
- No, no, we do not think that's fun.
- Week one, we have almost all of the girls except for one.
Who also wants to do week one?
- I definitely want to be a part of week two.
I want to see what half of the girls are bringing to the table
before I know what type of energy to bring.
- One more.
- And I can tell that Kori's not living for me.
Anytime I talk, she just chooses to look at the floor,
roll her eyes.
So I'm selecting to go the same week as Kori in week two
because I do not want her to be one of the queens rating me.
- We need one more girl.
- No, fuck that.
I mean, I feel like my talent can make it work.
So I can do week one. - Yes!
- I'll do week one.
- Week one...
Joella, Acacia, Sparkle, Starzzz,
Suzie, Arrietty, and Lydia.
The rest of us is week two.
- I feel great about changing to week one.
I know my abilities.
I don't know the abilities of these hos.
But I know what I can do and it's pretty good.
Well, I can't wait to see how this turns out.
OK.
- Hello, hello, hello.
- Hello. - It's a new day
- in the Werk Room. - Season 17!
- Today I will be performing in front of Katy Perry
for the talent show.
- To the mirror. To the mirror.
- Well, it's time to become a lady.
- Actually, I already am a lady.
- Lady? That's comedy.
- What are you most excited to do on the show?
- Honestly, this.
For the talent show, I'll be singing live,
playing guitar live, and I feel like I
will be standing out a little bit more than the other queens.
Music is just, like, the most important thing in my life.
I come from a very musical family.
I learned everything I know about music
from, like, my grandparents.
They had, like, a bluegrass band.
They taught me, like, the banjo,
accordion, mandolin, harmonica,
ukulele, guitar, piano.
I'm so excited to be doing the talent show
and showing an original song because this is just what I do.
Being able to, like, share that with everybody...
like, with my passion... is just, like, really exciting.
- So how are you going into this week?
- I definitely want to judge fairly.
I don't want there to be any animosity.
- Do you think everyone's going to judge fairly this week?
- No.
I am going to be doing a burlesque
puppet show for my talent.
It makes me a bit nervous with the Rate-A-Queen on the table
because what I do is a little weird
and it's rough around the edges,
and that could rub people the wrong way sometimes.
Come here.
Ooh, jeez, excuse me.
- How dare you? - That was so manly.
My God.
- My talent show is going to be a fun,
burlesque-y dance performance.
None of the dancing girls are going on the first week,
so this is a really good opportunity for me
to be the best.
Honestly, when I first started doing drag,
I wasn't really a dancer.
Like, I didn't really do any of that kind of stuff
because I actually have a bionic spine.
- Bitch, you a robot?
- Yes, I am a robot.
I'm a robot bitch.
When I was 14, I had a tumor in my neck, yeah.
And the tumor had completely, like, eaten up at my spine.
So when I was 14, I had to get a new spine installed.
I had three surgeries total.
I had to learn how to walk again.
- Does that affect, like, what you're able to do now?
- You know what, it should, but drag is my passion.
So I was like, fuck it.
Like, I'm just gonna do it.
When I first started doing drag,
I didn't think I was mobile.
I didn't think I could do any dancing.
But as time went on, you know,
I learned to do a lot more things.
I do have to work a little bit harder
to make sure that my moves are not gonna hurt my back.
But this is what I was born to do,
and I am the bionic supermodel.
Wait, am I the first bionic supermodel on Drag Race?
Hello.
Ding.
OK, let's set this face.
- It's so we're getting ready in a new space.
- Yes.
Yesterday was, like, the first time
for me doing makeup since last year.
Me and my family, we lost our house
because of my life situation. - Yeah.
- My stepdad had a horrible accident with fireworks where
his hand basically blew off
and I literally had to see the hand
fall right in front of me.
At that moment, I knew that things were going to change
because my stepdad was pretty much the breadwinner
and I had to kind of step up for my family.
Ever since then, we haven't been able to really pay
the bills, so we kind of lost our house,
and now they're sleeping over at a friend's house
and they're all sleeping in, like, the same room.
To win this competition would mean helping my family finally
make it out of the struggle.
To be here on "RuPaul's Drag Race"
is honestly life-changing.
I see this as my Golden Ticket and I am ready to make it
all the way to the end.
- So are y'all part of any drag family that's been
on "Drag Race" before?
- Well, my drag mommy is Shontelle Sparkles,
and her drag mommy is Trinity The Tuck.
- Sam's your sister, then.
- Sam is my auntie, my old, old, old...
Old, old, old, old auntie.
- Samantha.
- Yeah, she's my sister's daughter.
Family tree time. Let's break it down.
My drag mom is Shontelle Sparkles.
Shontelle Sparkles' drag mom is Trinity The Tuck.
Trinity The Tuck's drag daughter,
besides Shontelle, is Sam.
So that makes Sam my drag aunt.
They're such a talented group of people.
- I may not come from drag family royalty.
I represent drag queens that have a past, you know?
Have street smarts, have a little grit and a little grime
under their nails.
So I'm going to smoke and toke those nepo babies.
- What are you doing for your talent?
- I am doing an original song
with some tappity tap, tap, tap-dancing.
- OK. - It's what I love to do.
It's how I stand out.
- You don't see a lot of tap-dancing bitches
out there in South Florida.
- I've been tap-dancing for 10 years.
It's what got me into my love of the 1920s.
These, like, fierce, leggy tap dancers.
It's so much of the reason that I created Suzie Toot.
- That's something that I've always thought
was very special about you.
- I appreciate that you see where
I'm coming from with that.
I do feel confident in my number,
but we are not being judged by RuPaul.
We are being judged by the divas sitting around me.
I'm not sure the other girls will appreciate
my perspective on drag.
- Hey, girls!
My God!
- My God! - It's Katy Perry!
- My God! Katy Perry! - Girl!
- I have no hair on! - My God!
- Katy Perry!
- This is a teenage dream come true, honey.
- Yeah! - Yes!
- I've ran out of my tuck tape.
Anybody have any I could bor...
- Hey, girl.
Do you guys know each other?
You two know each other.
- Joella.
My God!
- All the KCs are gonna freak!
- I'm gagged Katy knows Joella the second she
walks in the room.
- Joella and Katy Perry?
Like, what the fuck?
How did that... what?
- I'm so proud. I feel like I made you.
- You kind of did. - Aw!
- And now you're here.
I remember when you started doing drag.
- Yeah. - I cannot believe it.
You're on season 17. - Yes.
- I know.
My God.
- Hormona Lisa may have been hand-selected by RuPaul,
but I have been hand-selected by Katy Perry.
- Are you guys all friendly now?
Yeah.
- For the moment.
That laugh is demonic.
- Well, I'm really excited to see all the looks.
And you all want to win, right?
Yes!
- I think the way to win is to play with your alter ego.
But don't be afraid to take the mask off and show
the real person in there.
- Work. - That is yin, that's yang.
That's male, that's female, that's everything in between.
- Yes.
- Just give us real and give us fantasy.
It's about the full package. - Yeah.
- Where's my tape, speaking of package.
- She's in her KP sex era.
- She walking on dicks.
- OK, let's go, girls!
- Bye, Katy Perry!
- Gag!
My gosh.
My God.
- And I was in my underwear.
- That is crazy.
- It means so much for Katy to walk in
and give us encouragement.
We're all very nervous about performing
for the first time in front of the judges,
and she was so sweet.
- I need, like, a minute.
It's emotional for me when I see Katy
because she has definitely saved
me from a lot of dark times.
Is someone crying?
Joella.
- These are good tears, right?
- I hope so.
- OK, they're good tears, right?
- You did it, girl. - I can't believe I'm here.
- You did it, girl.
- It was just very hard for me growing up
because all the kids would bully me a little
because I was always different.
I would listen to her music and she was
the symbol for me of being myself.
Even if people say you're weird,
if people don't really like you and they kind of, like,
push you out of conversation.
And, like, it's so, like, corny and all that,
but, like, having Katy Perry here on "Drag Race" watching
me means the world to me.
- She's so proud, girl.
Now, go out there and show her what you are made of.
- Now I've got to take this energy and this passion
and put it in my talent show.
I'm gonna prove to Katy and Ru why I'm here.
Cover girl, put the bass in your walk
Head to toe, let your whole body talk
- Yes, Mama. - Come on, Mother.
- Welcome to the premiere of "RuPaul's Drag Race."
Michelle Visage... now, do you ever feel like a plastic bag?
- Silly, you I had my plastic bags removed years ago.
- Style superstar Carson Kressley.
- Ru, guess what. - What?
- I kissed a girl, and I liked it.
- What?
- Well, actually, no. Blech!
- And she is ready to roar.
It's Katy Perry. Welcome.
RuPaul, I'm so excited to be here,
but maybe we can just chill out on the puns just a little bit.
OK.
Swish, swish, bish.
For this week's premiere, we challenged
our queens to choose the first seven racers to entertaint us.
And tonight on the runway, all 14 queens
are ready to make their runway debuts.
Category is Masked for Masked Singer.
- Racers, start your engines,
and may the best drag queen win.
Hustle that kitty
You say you want to win it
- Category is Masked for Masked Singer.
Up first, Acacia Forgot.
- Is that a carrot on your face,
or are you just happy to see us?
- Hey!
- I'm serving them snowman who's melting
in this current climate.
I'm going from snow to ho.
Ooh!
- It is stupid, sexy, which is literally my drag.
- Give my love to Burl Ives.
Joella.
- She's mooning us already.
- You guys, this is number one Katy Cat.
- My mask is the woman in the moon.
I am a Scorpio, so I'm very in tune with astrology
and the stars and moon.
I'm giving universe... Miss Universe.
- How milky is your way?
- Jewels Sparkles.
- Slut in the front, business in the back.
Eyes wide open.
Ooh, la, la.
- The inspiration for this look is
if Ariana Grande was invited
to a masquerade ball in the 60s.
It's everything that Jewels is... it's cutesy, it's slutty.
I feel like the ultimate princess.
- She's giving wholesome.
- Well, maybe half of that is true.
Arrietty.
- Just throwing a little blood here and there, you know.
- Can someone call the medic?
- This is the tribal elven goddess.
- Her disciples have poisoned her,
and now she's bleeding on her couture.
Arrietty is gonna give you fashion.
She's gonna give you a moment.
A look, sweetie.
- If you stay Arrietty, you ain't got to get Arrietty.
- Ladies and gentlemen, Lydia Butthole Kollins.
You had me at Butthole.
- I am an alien woman
sentenced to the intergalactic iron maiden
for the crimes against her planet.
This is quintessential Lydia Kollins.
It is cheeky, puppety, it's a little Muppety.
- We get it, you're a bottom.
- Lucky Starzzz.
Is that a stuffed crust?
- Yes, honey. The best kind.
- I believe so.
- I got this pizza box on my head,
and then when I reveal it...
Meatza, meatza!
- All you see is yummy, delicious pizza face.
It's animated, it's colorful.
I like to become my art.
- You know what her favorite band is?
- What? - The Slice Girls.
- Suzie Toot.
- Does that say, in Toot we trust?
- I am serving Eleanor Powell, Marlene Dietrich...
I've been obsessed with the girls in these pre-code
movie musicals.
This look is absolutely dime to toe
a Suzie Toot experience.
- If I had a nickel...
- You should see what I'd do for a quarter.
- Ooh!
- Kori King.
- Ooh, something wicked this way comes.
- I am hobbling down the runway in this tight,
evil raven dress.
This is a turn for me.
I usually like a really big, blonde, bubbly aesthetic.
However, I did want to show that I
do like to change up my look.
- Honestly, she's a crower, not a shower.
- Hormona Lisa.
- Somebody's gonna take a vinegar bath later on.
What did you call me?
- Skunks, to me, are the glamorous ones
of the rodent family.
Just don't smell too hard because you might pass out.
I wear deodorant. I do. I do, I do.
I can't say the same thing for everybody else on the cast.
- She didn't come here to play, she came here to spray.
- Crystal Envy. - Ooh.
- Yeah, you know, that salt will bloat you up, girl.
- I'm giving you porcelain baby doll realness.
My perfected, poised, polished pageant self on the outside...
- Face crack of the century.
- This represents how underneath I can sometimes
crack under pressure.
- She's got a splitting headache.
- Splitting!
- Lexi Love.
I want my MTV
- This MTV moon person award fits into my drag
because it's not only pop culture reference,
but it's fashion.
It's stupid and goofy and fun.
I cannot.
This is my first runway, look at me go.
- Extraterrestrial.
- Yes.
- Houston... - We have a drag queen.
Lana Ja'Rae.
- How's your cat head?
- Haven't had any complaints.
Meow.
Gouda morning.
This look is based off of my baby cat Gouda,
because every day with Gouda is a Gouda day.
I'm serving pussy on this runway
because what's more pussy than a pussy being pussy?
- My goodness. - Meow.
- What a tail.
- Onya Nurve.
- Baby, this gown and mask is inspired by a body of artwork
that I produced made with materials
that you would typically find in the beauty supply store.
Baby, got some Afro picks up in here.
You got earrings, you got some weave.
I am giving you Black opulence down.
- Yes, honey.
She... ooh, let me take my time up in here.
I got my time, girl.
Ooh.
Now, let me make it backstage.
- Ooh, I got my...
I'ma take my time!
- On the next episode of "RuPaul's Drag Race"...
- See if Onya Nurve...
- Ever makes it to the end of the runway.
- Sam Star.
- Stormy weather.
Stormy Daniels.
- I'm giving you storm cloud mask, honey, the darkness...
living in the closet.
And then bam, it's revealed.
And I'm gay now, bitch.
This is everything you want for a pageant-perfect look.
- She likes to keep it cumulus up in here.
Cumulus.
- Welcome to part one of "Drag Queens got Talent."
First up, she loves her vitamin D.
It's Jewels Sparkles.
You want some milk?
La leche - Yes!
La leche
La leche
My milk is stupid tasty
- Ooh! - La leche
La leche
La leche
My milk is stupid tasty
Walk in, I got the juice
My babies need some food
Hush, little baby, now, don't you cry
'Cause Mommy is coming with a full supply
- Yes!
- Take a sip or a bite, you choose
From the left or the right, can't lose
No sham, this milk is the real deal
Want to cop a feel
- OK.
Wait, are there subtitles?
Do you know Spanish? - No.
- Do you know what la leche means, RuPaul?
- Whoo!
La leche
La leche
La leche
My milk is stupid tasty
La leche Bitch!
La leche
La leche
My milk is stupid tasty
Delicioso!
- Love it!
- Work, bitch! - I did it. I got it.
I was so perfect.
I served cunt to the highest degree, bitch.
Ding.
- That really makes me want a big glass of milk.
- It does.
Up next, escรกndala, it's Arrietty.
Hola!
- I'm absolutely getting my life seeing Arrietty onstage.
Whether that's because of my alliance
or because she's actually killing it,
the world will never know.
- Andale, andale, arriba, arriba.
- Arrietty's whipping her dress all around.
It's a costume performance, and I live.
But you gonna give us something else with that dress?
- Yes.
Puss.
- Ole.
- Up next, everybody loves puppets.
It's Lydia Butthole Kollins.
- Butthole is her maiden name, right?
Ru.
Thank you for having me in your home.
My name is Lydia B Kollins.
And what does the B stand for?
Ooh, baby, won't you please come home
'Cause your mama's all alone
- This is a fever dream.
- Whoa! - I have tried in vain
Nevermore to call your name
When you left, you broke my heart
I never, ever thought that we would part
But every hour in the day
You can hear me say
Baby, please come home
Mama needs Daddy
Baby, won't you please come home
Welcome to the universe.
- Stupid.
- Lydia's number is weird and demented.
- I'm scared.
- I'm living for Miss Lydia Butthole.
- Bend over!
Yes!
Girl.
- She is serving butthole.
- She's a real sweet tart.
It's Lucky Starzzz.
- Welcome to the world of Lucky Starzzz.
On today's episode, we're making lemonade!
Rusie Q, feeling thirsty?
Well, have I got just the treat for you.
I'ma keep this short and sweet
Look at you, Mama, you're in heat
Come on in, let me give you a treat
My lemonade is the best on the street
- It's Lucky's lemonade - Whoo!
Come get you a taste
Squeeze and drink and sip and swallow
Bitter, sexy, sweet, and sour
- Come on, bitch! - Lucky's lemonade
- My gosh! - Make you go insane
Squeeze and drink and sip and swallow
Bitter, sexy, sweet, and sour
Sip on my lemon drops
My... my... my lemon drops
Catch me at the corner
Pay me, taste the flav
- It's Lucky's lemonade, come get you a taste
Squeeze and drink and sip and swallow
Bitter, sexy, sweet, and sour
Lucky's lemonade
Make you go insane
Sip on my lemon drops
My... my... my lemon drops
Cheers!
- That is how you do it, America.
When it comes to Rate-A-Queen,
tens, tens, tens across the board.
- Yes!
- Welcome back to "Drag Queens got Talent."
Up next, remember her name, it's Joella.
You know my name, I'm scandalous
And I do it for the fame
J-O-E, but don't forget the -ella
Step out from this umbrella, bitch, nominate Joella
All these little girls went out just like that now
I'm the main course, and dessert is in the back
From Koreatown to Beverly Hills,
I reign supreme with a plus-sized
body that's a fabulous dream.
- Yes! - Yes, sister! Yes!
I am Joella
So you can never
I am performing in front of Katy Perry.
It's Joella Day today, honey.
I am Joella
So you can never
- Y'all thought that was sickening?
Ru, hit it.
Strut down the runway, serving looks divine
My curves serving burns
But I'm stepping out that line
I'll conquer the world one stage at a time
And leave all the haters trying to steal my shine
J-O-E, but don't forget the -ella
J-O-E, but don't forget the -ella
Yes!
- Work!
- That's my Katy Cat!
- And don't forget the -ella.
It was cute.
I would have gave her $5.
- Yes, diva!
- This ain't her first rodeo, it's Acacia Forgot.
- Come on, Acacia.
Saddle up to the stable
Gonna ride bulls today
Howdy from the bullpen
The ranch hand came to say
Wranglers wearing tight jeans
Buttoned-up flannel shirts
Worn-in leather cowboy boots
Kicking up dust and dirt
How can I think about anything
When he throws that crooked smile at me
This one's gonna be a doozy
I want to ride that bull
I want to ride him full-throttle
Want to take him down back roads
Where the sun don't shine
I want to show him a piece of my mind
The way it pushed and pull
Wait, are we still talking about bulls
I get full
But then Tuesday, baby
Wrangler, take me away
The truth is, I want to ride
I want to ride that bull
- You better ride that bull!
- I'm a little disappointed.
But you know what, that's good for me
'cause my country competition is...
Flopping.
- Last but not least, she's a hoofer with a heart of gold,
it's Suzie Toot.
- Presenting the nine tapping toes of Miss Suzie Toot.
- Who's the little lady with her curls on fire
She's the hottest dame around
The cutest little Tootie all the boys desire
A Great Depression cannot get her down
Smokin' Suzie, what a doozy
Got the longest legs to boot
Smokin' Suzie, no one's floozy
Making all the fellas toot
- And now the Gettysburg Address in Morse code.
- Yes!
- Wow.
Wow.
Smokin' Suzie, making all the fellas toot
- Suzie Toot.
Girl, it's a toot for me.
- The nine toes.
- Y'all, am drunk with power.
I feel like I'm Michelle Visage, and I can't
wait to rank these bitches.
- I'm a patriot now!
- Welcome, queens.
Tonight there will be no judges' critiques.
The queens that watched you will rank you from top
to bottom and side to side.
So while y'all Rate-A-Queen backstage,
the judges and I will be reciting
Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream"
speech in Morse code.
You may leave the stage.
All right, now, just between us squirrel friends,
the queens are rating each other.
But I'm just curious to know what y'all are thinking.
Starting with Jewels Sparkles.
- I thought that blue number on the runway was exquisite.
- And the performance was funny.
- I don't speak Spanish, but it was delicioso.
- She ate. She chewed. She swallowed.
Arrietty.
- I thought that paint that she did with the very strong white
down the face went with the first look with the elf ears.
I didn't like it with the performance look.
- She wants to spread her culture, and I love that,
but this is "Drag Race."
I need a reveal. I need a whole bit.
Like, boom, bam, bop.
- Lydia Butthole Kollins.
- I thought, wow, this is weird and freaky and mesmerizing.
Then all of a sudden, she was just standing there
with Bryce. - Yeah.
- She was on to something really strong.
And then it went south for me.
- How far south?
To the butthole.
All right, Lucky Starzzz.
- You know, I love when someone can do
a little trick in their drag.
- And personally, me, I've always used my breasts
as utilitarian objects.
- The rap, the lyrics...
I really enjoyed that performance.
- All right, Joella.
- Her original song...
it wasn't anything groundbreaking.
But then she sold the hell out of it, which made us laugh.
- I really enjoyed her curves and how she used them.
Although she could have given more with the look.
I'm a hard mother sometimes to all of my kitty cats.
- Well, you owe it to the kitty cats.
Acacia Forgot.
- The snowman outfit, I didn't find that super memorable.
Meh. - For the performance,
I thought I was back at my old job, "American Idol."
- I didn't get to really hear the lyrics.
I think the nerves got her.
- All right, let's hear what Lionel Richie has to say.
- Suzie Toot.
- Suzie came out with a dime on her head,
which we all enjoyed, and then she took it off
and I wanted her to put it back on.
Whoa, that makeup was shocking.
- I didn't mind her hair and makeup in that.
I thought it supported that Depression era.
- Yeah. - She was like...
Very depressed.
- Now, the tap-dancing was super cute.
- The humor was so interesting and layered.
It was just funny.
- Silence.
It's time for the queens to make their decisions.
- Ladies and gentlethems, it is time for Rate-A-Queen.
I love knowing that I hold their fate
in my dainty little hands.
- It do take fucking Nurve,
so let's get into this shit.
In first position, I'm already gonna put Lucky Starzzz.
That talent was so out of the box.
- First position, I'm gonna put my sister Miss Jewels Sparkles.
Her runway was beautiful.
Kudos to her.
- In first position, that bitch, Miss Suzie Shoot, honey.
It's not even a Toot. It was a Shoot, bitch.
- The first position, Arrietty.
I did make a promise to this queen,
and I'm going to save this queen
'cause I know a lot of people do plan on voting her last.
This is a competition, and I came to play.
So I know who I'm looking out for
and I know who's looking out for me.
- Second... - Position, Lucky Starzzz.
- Second position, Jewels Sparkles.
I mean, I'm lactose intolerant, but I enjoyed the number.
In third position...
- I'm gonna put my sister Jewels.
She would have been my number one,
but I had promises to keep.
- In fifth position, we'll put my fellow little country
bumpkin, Acacia Forgot.
- Live singing, a little pitchy.
- Sixth position, it's gonna be Joella.
I was ready to be, like, gagged and I was only, like, choking.
- In sixth position...
Arrietty.
We can all swish a skirt around.
OK.
- I do feel like her nerves got the best of her.
She needs to step up a little bit with confidence.
Sixth position sounds cute for her today.
- In seventh position, I'm gonna put
Lydia Butthole Kollins.
The talent show, while it started off high,
it didn't end on a high.
- Seventh position gotta go to Acacia Forgot.
I forgot it.
And that is...
The tea.
- And that's the tea.
- And that... - Is the tea.
- And that's the mother-tucking tea.
- Ladies, your fellow queens have made some decisions.
When I call your name, please step forward.
Joella.
Arrietty.
Lydia Butthole Kollins.
Lucky Starzzz.
Based on the Rate-A-Queen results,
ladies, you are all safe.
You may step to the back of the stage.
Acacia Forgot.
I'm sorry, my dear, but your fellow queens have
rated you as the bottom queen.
And next week you will Lip Sync for Your Life.
- I'm feeling very crushed that I am in the bottom,
and I feel like I'm a little unfairly ranked because I was
one of the only people to show a true talent
and not just an overproduced lip-syncing
track that I dance to.
But here I am.
Jewels Sparkles.
Suzie Toot.
Based on the Rate-A-Queen results,
you are the top two queens of the week.
- My God. - I mean, this is so major.
Because of my neck injuries, I never
thought this was gonna be something that I could do.
And to be in the top two doing a dance number as my talent,
I'm so beyond excited.
- I think that I gagged these girls a bit
and now they finally see that I'm a real threat
in this competition.
- Condragulations.
But there can only be one winner.
Two queens stand before me.
Ladies, this is your chance to impress me
and win a cash tip of $5,000.
The time has come for you to Lip Sync
for the Win.
- I know I can't outcamp her, but I can
outdance that bitch any day.
- Good luck.
And don't fuck it up.
It's a woman's world and you're
Lucky to be living in it
Sexy, confident
So intelligent
She is heaven-sent
So soft
So strong
She's a winner
Champion
Superhuman, number one
She's a sister, she's a mother
- Jewels Sparkles is giving you cunt.
She's giving you sex.
She's giving you leche.
You know
It's a woman's world
And you're lucky to be living in it
- Ooh, Suzie, you in danger, girl.
You in danger.
It's a woman's world
And you're lucky to be living in it
Fire in her eyes
Yeah, baby!
- I am living.
She catches RuPaul's eye and say, look at these feet here.
- My nine toes is tapping on this stage and you
need to pay attention to this.
You know
It's a woman's world
And you're lucky to be living in it
You better, better celebrate, celebrate
'Cause, baby, we ain't going away,
It's a woman's world
And you're lucky to be living in it
Lucky to be living in it
That's right, it's a woman's world.
And you're lucky to be living in it
- Queen! - That was good!
- I never thought the Charleston would work in this
and now I do.
- Queens, I've made my decision.
Suzie Toot, condragulations.
You're a winner, baby.
- That's what I'm talking about!
- I just won the first challenge
of "RuPaul's Drag Race."
This is exactly what I imagined happening.
This shall be the first of many, many victories
for Little Miss Suzie Toot.
- You've won a cash tip of $5,000.
- Okuuuur!
- OK!
- Thank you. Thank you so much.
- Jewels Sparkles, you are free to slay another day.
- Thank you, Mama.
- Condragulations, queens.
Next week, the tables will be turnt
at "Drag Queens got Talent Part II,"
and one queen will be eliminated.
And remember, if you can't love yourself, how in the hell
you gonna love somebody else?
Can I get an amen up in here?
Amen!
- All right, now, let the music play.
They want to see you let it out
I know you want to work, they want to see you go off
I know you want to work, you know I am in business
Come, let's give them just what they want
They want to see you work
Next time on "RuPaul's Drag Race"...
Welcome to week two of "Drag Queens got Talent."
- Lexi is in roller skates.
Everybody back away 100 feet.
No!
- Next week, the tables turn and we
get to be the ones deciding.
- Yeah, who do I want to put in the bottom?
- Yes!
- Well, shit.
They want to see you let it out
I know you want to work, they want to see you go off
I know you want to work, you know I am in business
Come, let's give them just what they want
They want to see you work
They want to see you let it out
I know you want to work, they want to see you go off
I know you want to work, you know I am in business
Come, let's give them just what they want
They want to see you work, work, work
I know you want to work, work, work
Work, work, work, work, work
I know you want to work, work, work
Work, work, work, work, work
Work, work, work, work, work
