- Hey, Josh, you ever heard you're a bitch?
- Jason, come on now, bro.
Come on, bro.
- Poor bitch.
Hey, Jay, catch it, bro.
- Hey, guys, can I join?
- Sure, loser.
Move, loser.
This guy really thought he could play with us.
Have fun in Dork Land.
- I see you, buddy.
Stop playing with your food and eat it.
So, Morgan, how was your day today?
Anything exciting?
Okay, sweetheart, I know it's been tough since the move,
but I really think this will be good for you.
You know, it's a change of pace
and you'll get to meet new kids...
- So Morgan, I hear that you are going to summer camp.
- I'm being sent to summer camp, against my will.
- Clearly thrilled. - How could I be?
- I don't know, sometimes,
little surprises can be a good thing.
- Thank you.
- Oh yeah, I mean,
I used to love to go to summer camp.
I met the best man at my wedding there.
- Really? - Yeah.
You get to go and flirt and screw around,
and, take it from me, two months away from these two,
you'll never want to come home.
- Oh, thanks. - All right, Pops.
Let's not convince our son to emancipate.
- Can I take that? - Yeah. Thank you.
- I'm done too.
- Oh no you're not. Finish those veggies.
You'll grow strong.
- Hey, Morgan.
I think this camp sounds like a pretty fun thing.
- I don't know.
- Sometimes the best adventures are unplanned.
My dad gave this to me when I was about your age
when I went to summer camp.
- Whoa. This is badass.
- And more important, how sweet is it gonna be
to get away from those assholes.
- Yeah.
- Roy, you wanna top up before dessert?
- Oh honey, you come and sit down, you have a seat.
I'm gonna get up and get these old legs moving again.
Morgan, you want another Merlot?
- Sure.
- Your grandpa's right.
Surprises can be a really good thing.
Keep an open mind, right?
Promise?
- Grandpa. - Oh my God.
- Dad, Dad, Dad!
- Dad? Dad?
Call 911.
- I'm calling 911.
Hi, yes, I am at 352 Galway Court Road.
My father-in-law has collapsed.
- Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
- Sweetie, tell your counselors
if you have any trouble sleeping, okay?
They can get in touch with us.
And speaking of sleeping, go easy on the sugar.
Okay?
I don't want you to have any more nightmares.
- Hey, did I mention Jess from work is also sending her son,
CJ, to camp this summer.
Gonna be a roommate.
- Yes, Dad, you told me this a million times already.
It's just, CJ's a real dick.
- Oh, hey, language.
- You've met the kid literally one time.
Can't be that bad.
- Well, he is.
- Look, I know you don't understand this,
but you need this
and it's gonna be good.
It's gonna be good.
- Remember when you fucked it up last year?
We're not gonna do that again, okay?
So we're gonna make it look beautiful.
Everyone's on their way, can you move a little quicker.
We do this every fucking year.
Thank you.
- Avery, are you ready for another wild couple
of months, brother?
- Oh, sure, man, having to do the Lord's work.
- Amen. Amen.
Do you wanna roll one of those for me, will ya?
Nothing wrong with getting a little high
right before we have to start delting.
You like that? Right?
Like this? - Oh yeah.
- Ugh, get a room.
- Why would we do that? Why would we get a room?
There's cabins everywhere.
- Okay, I have to take care of these.
Then I also took the badges from Collins' office.
Yeah, I'd love if you guys
picked up some slack around here.
Everyone's busting their ass outside.
Maybe you could, I dunno, put on a shirt, Kazswar.
- What, and deprive you of all this? Come on.
- Believe it or not, I can go an hour or two
without seeing your chest, unlike some of us.
- You don't need to be a bitch, Rachel.
- Damn!
- Hey-o, did somebody call the fun police?
- Franklin, did you hear us laughing again
and you come in here to break up the party?
- So you're really still leaning
into this jock counselor thing, huh?
- Yeah.
- Laurie, you wanna come help me down by the docks?
- Something to do.
- Ah baby, I can give you something to do.
- Oh, Kaz, by the way, I hear Collins is looking
for someone to put new air fresheners in the bathrooms.
- Oh really? Thank you for that.
- Collins can bite me.
- Collins can what? - Oh, shit.
- It's this kind of bullshit
that got you nearly canned last summer.
Alright? You're here to work.
Put on a shirt, hang these up in the shitter, alright?
- Really me? - Yeah.
- Somebody took a weapons grade BM in there.
- You suck, man.
- What was that? - Huh?
- I know, I know. I know what you said.
And you?
Do you understand, right, that you're the adult supervision.
Okay?
Just make yourself useful.
Go, go help out Kazswar with the bathrooms.
- Last names A through M to the left,
N through Z to the right.
Hey, welcome back, guys.
- Doesn't it look fun?
It looks so cool, right?
- Hey, welcome guys.
Hey, how are y'all? Welcome, welcome.
- This is so great, look at the climbing wall over there.
How cool is that, huh?
- Hello there, first-timer, welcome to Camp Almar.
Can I get a name, buddy?
- Uh, Morgan Davis.
- Uh, Morgan?
Yes, there you are.
Okay, now Morgan, if I could get you to write
your name on one of these lanyards,
that is gonna give you access to food,
renting fishing poles, all that fun stuff.
Don't lose it or you'll be sleeping with the fishes.
Uh...
- Okay.
- Perfect.
- Okay, let's see your bunk.
- Actually, we don't allow parents past this point.
Camp policy.
- Okay?
Listen to me, baby, you're gonna do so great.
It's gonna be so much fun.
Just be safe, behave, be brave,
and I swear it's gonna be the best summer ever, okay?
- Mom.
I love you so much.
Oh, I almost forgot.
I love you, love you, love you.
- Okay.
Are you ready to have the best summer ever?
I know I am.
Here, you know what, lemme get that bag for you.
- Hey, CJ.
- Hey, hey, I saw what you're doing.
Guys, you need to get in your suits
and grab your towels, all right?
Meet all campers by the lakefront in 10 minutes
for our welcome orientation.
Keeping my eye on you guys.
Oh, by the way, I'm Franklin, nice to meet you.
- I believe in myself and my abilities.
I am the architect of my fate.
I can achieve what I've-
- Move, move, move, move, move, move.
There we go.
Alright, listen up, you little monsters and freaks,
I need you to line up and shut up.
You, back to your seats.
You are very attractive. Hi, how are you?
- You, hey, hey, get to your seat.
What are you doing?
Yo, hey, what's your name, big dog.
What's your name, huh?
Does that say Doink? Effing Doink.
Hey, Doink, listen, I'm in charge here.
So when I say take your seats, I expect you to go.
Capisce?
- First year here?
- Yeah.
- I can tell.
I'm Pilar.
- That's a nice name.
- Hey, thanks.
I've had it since I was born.
- I'm Morgan.
- Well, Morgan, you should probably shut up
so you don't get us in trouble with that jerk.
- Go ahead and hand it over.
- No, but I got a note and-
I don't care if you got a note, right?
No tech anywhere out here.
Hand it over, or I'm taking away your dessert privileges,
and by the looks of it, you really wouldn't like that.
There you go, big guy. Go ahead.
Oh, he flipped me off.
Doink the Oink, everybody, give it up for him.
- Really? - What?
- What the hell?
- Who is ready to have the time of their lives?
For those of you who are new, my name is Hugh Collins.
I'm the camp director and we are thrilled
to have you here with us this summer.
Now, just so you know, I oversee these knuckleheads,
but also disciplinary measures.
So as I like to say, if you're seeing me,
you're either infirmed or in trouble.
Lots of laughter.
Alright, how about a word or two about sunscreen?
Now your folks probably-
- I'm Morgan.
- Doink, apparently.
- I won't call you that if you don't want me to.
That guy seems like a total asshole.
- Yeah, no shit.
Dirk.
- Now, since it's hot as balls out here,
let's get you guys in that water, huh?
Alright, you're gonna follow your cabin counselor down
to the lake where they'll administer your swim test,
and that'll clear you for the whole summer,
because as I like to say,
happiness is about making your own waves.
Don't- - Dude, you gotta stop it.
It gets worse every year.
- Alright, we got a lot to do here.
Okay, so let's get moving. Let's go down to that water.
Come on. - Let's go.
- Who wants to have some fun?
- You gotta piss or something?
- Okay, who is ready to have some fun?
Whoo! If you can hear me, clap once.
If you can hear me, stomp your feet.
Okay, great.
All right, so here are the rules.
One camper per cabin at a time.
Okay, you're gonna jump to the water, swim to the buoy,
and then swim on back.
Easy enough, right?
- Um, excuse me, Franklin, can I not do this?
I don't swim.
- Wait, you can't swim?
Did y'all hear that? This nerd can't swim?
- You know what, this happens every summer.
Camper decides he doesn't wanna do it
and then they regret it the next week.
- She's right, Morgan.
That means zero lake privileges this summer.
No rowboats, no rope swing, no playing chicken.
- I understand.
- Okay, let's move on.
- Hey!
Why is the shy kid on his butt?
- Shit.
- Congratulations, Corbin, 45 minutes into day one
and you're in the dog house.
- I didn't do anything.
- Look, you know we have
a zero tolerance policy for bullying.
- This is bullshit - Hey, try me. All right?
You like cleaning toilets
because I got a couple of counselors who can't get
to the hard to reach places.
All right, just get outta my office.
And will you try to at least act like a decent human being?
Dammit.
- Is it?
- Morgan?
Shit, I'm sorry man.
- It's fine.
- Anyways, I was telling Sam, oh, this is Sam, by the way,
and that's Raj, they're roomed with me.
- Hey man, I get it.
I freak out all the time.
I like attention.
- Oh God, will you shut the hell up?
- Anyone know any campfire songs?
- No.
- How about a story? - How about a scary story?
- Yeah. - Yes.
- Has anyone here ever heard of the story about the Doctor?
- Doink, no.
I have to listen to this story every damn year and it sucks.
- I've never heard it.
- I can try to tell it. My brother told me at least-
- No, I'll tell it.
I'll keep it PG-13, don't worry.
So way before Camp Almar, there used to be cabins
all throughout these woods everywhere.
One of those cabins belonged to a doctor.
Yeah, he had a wife, two kids.
It was their summer home.
And it was private.
They'd come up here and they'd swim, fish, whatever.
But the doctor had one rule while they stayed there.
He had this, this huge cellar in the basement.
And every night when the family went to sleep,
the doctor would go down there,
and he wouldn't come out until the sun came up.
- How come?
- See, his wife had the same question.
So one night when the doctor thinks she's asleep,
she follows him down there
and she discovers something horrific.
Men and women, mutilated.
People's limbs were being ripped off and sewn back together,
their features all warped.
You see, by day, the doctor was performing
these life-saving surgeries, but by night,
he was taking human lives and creating monsters.
- Then what happened?
- She tried to run.
When the doctor caught her, he wanted to make sure
that he would never lose his beloved family.
He told the cops, she left, took the kids.
But in reality, he sewed them all together.
Mommy and her two babies combined
into one happy family forever.
Years later, they tore it down. We built Almar.
But rumor has it, if you stay up too late
or if you leave your cabin past curfew,
you just might see the doctor wandering through these woods,
searching for his basement, his life's work, his family.
- What about all those monsters?
- Caroline, stop.
- Ask Kazswar.
- Why?
- Because I'm one of them!
- Okay.
- Welcome to camp.
- No shit.
- Let's not litter. Thank you.
Alright, back to your cabins.
If you see a cup, pick it up.
Thank you.
- Hey, you okay, like, after what happened down at the lake?
- Yeah, I was, I'm fine.
- I just saw you were crying and-
- No, I don't, I don't think I was.
Do you think that was a true story about
the doctor or whatever?
- Ooh, are you scared, Morgan?
- No, no, I was just asking.
- I find summer camps to be inherently creepy.
So counselors make this shit up
to make sure we don't break curfew or whatever.
I've heard like five different versions of that stupid story
at this point.
Well, this is you.
- Wait, where's your cabin?
- Over on the other side of camp.
- Then, why'd you walk with me all the way to my cabin?
- Because you're a fraidy-cat.
See you tomorrow, dude.
- What is that?
Help!
- What the fuck was that? - Oh baby!
Oh, come on, don't stop.
- Sorry.
- Help!
- Goddammit.
Gotta go, shit, sorry.
- Are you fucking kidding me? - Gotta go.
- There's someone in my cabin.
But I saw him.
He came out of my room.
- Morgan, you have nothing to worry about, okay?
Everyone is fast asleep.
- But the door was open...
- Your file mentioned that you have nightmares sometimes.
I mean, do you think that maybe- - But, but I saw him.
- Really, you two?
- Guys, I told you we need to stop telling
that stupid story.
He's not real, Morgan, it's just a dumb story.
- We have to tell the story. Campers insist on it.
- Yeah, by the way, she's the one who's been telling it,
so you should bitch at her.
- Franklin, will you please walk Morgan
back to his cabin?
- Of course. - Thank you.
- And get some sleep, okay?
- So we good here? Do we-
- I don't care.
- All right! Let's go.
- See, no doctor in here as far as I can tell.
- But-
- You've had a rough day, Morgan.
I'm sure that stupid story didn't help,
but Camp Almar is a safe place.
Let's just take it easy, okay?
Tomorrow, no surprises.
Let's just have some fun, huh?
Sweet dreams.
- No running.
- Hey.
- Look who it is.
- Is that good?
- It's okay. Kind of a downer, honestly.
- I like to read.
I read a lot actually.
- Really?
Well, maybe we could go on a little reading date.
Outing?
- Yeah, yeah that would be cool.
- Hey, my cabin signed up for a bird watching hike,
so I should get going.
See you around.
- The best flavor.
- So, is that your new girlfriend?
- Shut up.
You guys are such dicks.
- Come on, you know you love us.
- Come on, let's go play some badminton.
- CJ?
- Leave me the fuck alone.
- Knock, knock.
You doing okay, Morgan?
- Yeah, I guess.
Franklin, do you think maybe I could...
not room with CJ?
- Look, I know it might not make sense,
but at Almar, we don't give up on kids.
You know, growing up, my mom would let me sulk for the day.
She'd say, "Your bad day doesn't deserve your good tomorrow."
She wasn't wrong.
- Yeah, I guess.
- You take the rest of this night to yourself, Morgan.
You hear me?
Alright, night, bud.
- Good night.
- So, he was different?
- Yeah, it was weird. He wasn't himself.
- And you two never hung out outside of camp, right?
- No.
- Probably just going through puberty, dude.
- Boys are weird, present company included.
- I know how it sounds, but CJ-
- Hey Morgan.
- Hey, CJ.
- Can we talk?
- Um, yeah, sure.
- Your funeral.
- I guess, we just got off on the wrong foot.
I don't know, if I'm being honest, it felt kind of weird,
you know, my parents making me room with someone
I barely know.
- Yeah, I get it.
- Hope we can reset, start fresh,
do some stuff we've been putting off.
- Like what?
- Like your swim test.
- What the hell do you think you're doing?
- Laurie, get CJ.
- CJ, what are you doing?
Stop, stop.
- Get off. Hey, hey!
Get the goddamn nurse.
- Come on!
One, two, three, good!
Oh yeah, buddy. Good, good, good.
Breathe.
- Being scared means you're
about do something really, really, brave.
- You're dead!
- Hey Morgan, Morgan, come on. Wake up.
Raj got his ass kicked,
but he's still out playing with us.
Come on, sucker, move, move, move.
- You guys are assholes.
- Morgan, Cassidy Moon tripped,
so I blasted her with my light.
That's great, dude.
- Hey, give the poor guy a break, will you?
- Later, doofus, come on. - Doofus.
- I figured you shouldn't have to miss out on all the fun.
For what it's worth, we have a lot of work to do with CJ,
a reset, if you will.
We don't condone that kind of behavior here at Almar.
So just hang in there. Things are gonna shape up, all right?
And hey, drink that cocoa.
That's an order.
- Don't spill it. Careful.
Here we go.
- Thanks. - You got it.
Okay, campers, when we are done, we are going
to throw away our cups, okay,
and then we're gonna head back to our cabins.
And finish your cups please.
We cannot dump this stuff out here.
It kills the trees.
Got it? Okay, cool?
- Morgan? I can see you.
Morgan, I can see you.
I can see you now.
Morgan, I can see you.
Morgan?
Morgan?
Morgan?
Morgan?
Morgan? Morgan?
Morgan?
I get to see you now.
- Grandpa!
Where are we?
Where are we?
- I get to see you now.
I get to see you now.
Where you going Morgan? Morgan, where you going?
- Help me. Help!
- ...in the fucking gut.
- CJ...
Help! Help me!
You guys, Dirk, you gotta wake up.
Wake up!
- I'm up, I'm up, I'm up. What the hell?
- What the fuck?
- The doctor? - Huh?
- The Doctor, he had CJ in some sort of like operating room.
There's blood everywhere.
- What the hell are you talking about?
- You guys, he's real.
He had other kids too.
I know how it sounds, but you gotta believe me, man.
He's real.
We have to get outta here now.
- Enough, Morgan.
Jesus, I'm tired.
Got my ass kicked today.
We're done dealing with your shit.
He's not real.
Shit.
- You guys, go!
- Help! Help! Help!
- No, no, no!
- What the fuck?
Hey, we got a Bronco Butler.
I repeat, we got a code Bronco Butler.
Shit!
- Okay, all campers, if you're outside,
come into the mess hall right now.
Campers, if you can hear my voice,
come into the mess hall.
Let's go. Let's go.
Move it. Come on, let's go. Let's go, let's go.
Thank you. Come on.
- Go, go, go!
- We should find an adult, right?
- We gotta get Pilar.
- You wanna save your girlfriend first?
- Come on, we need to get the hell outta here, dude.
- Wait, wait, wait guys, guys, guys, listen, listen.
- Shit!
- What is that?
Where are you going?
- I'm up. I want a snack.
- No, I think we should stay inside.
- Pilar!
Pilar, it's the doctor.
He's real.
The story is real.
- Oh, brother.
- Okay, I'm just trying to convince you guys.
Look at Dirk and Sam?
- Yeah, they're sweaty, they're always sweaty.
- What? Where am I? Oh my g-
- Is she sleepwalking?
- Can you guys be quiet?
Real funny.
- Holy shit!
- Guys, guys, wait for me.
- Come on, move it, move it.
Oh my God.
- What the hell's going on?
- If you can hear my voice,
report to the mess hall.
- Okay, we heard her. Let's go.
- No way, we can't trust anybody at this point.
- We gotta get a weapon.
Can we please stop to get a weapon?
- Look...
- We have to go now.
- We should swim across the lake.
- No, we're not swimming, Sam!
- Shit.
- What are you doing?
Stop it. Stop it right now.
Wait, stop!
- Chop! Chop! This way. This way.
- Come on, come on, quick. Be careful. Don't fall.
- Are we gonna die?
- Don't be ridiculous. Everyone's gonna be fine.
Everyone's gonna be fine, right?
- Kaz, stop it.
- Uh-uh-uh, how many are left?
- Don't do anything stupid. - No promises.
Whoo.
- That's not gonna go well.
You're in charge.
I'm on my way back.
- Okay.
- Let's wait until there's a lull and make a run for it.
- Why?
Haven't you noticed we're in a room full of vehicles.
Boats, Pilar.
- Where would you take a boat?
This is a lake, dude.
Even if you made it to the other side,
you would still be in the woods.
Then what?
- Still a good plan.
- No.
Our best bet is regrouping with the rest of the campers.
I'm sure the adults have something in mind.
- I'm on Team Boat.
- Oh my God.
- I don't think splitting up is a good idea?
- Don't be such a pussy.
- Hey, he doesn't do water, Sam. Jesus Christ.
- I think we should just stop yelling,
just as a blanket rule of hiding.
How come you don't do water, Morgan?
- Well, we had a pool
in the backyard of my old house and
I fell in...
I tripped over a vacuum we used to clean the bottom.
I sunk straight down
until my Grandpa Roy pulled me out.
- Morgan!
- I will never forget that feeling of losing my breath,
of losing control.
I'm not gonna hold anyone back.
Please take the boat, get to safety.
I just can't do it.
- Hey, we stick together, pal. Got it?
- Wait...
- Hello?
Hello?
- Dude, Kazswar.
- Hey, hey, hey, bud. What's your name?
What's your name? - Sam.
- Sam? - You okay?
- Yeah. - Okay, come on.
We're gonna get you outta here.
Hey, listen, where are the rest of your friends?
Let's get you outta here, bud.
Hey! Wait!
- Hey, what the?
- I think he's friends with the crybaby and the chubby kid.
I'll get 'em.
- Go!
- God...
- Go, go, go, go.
- Dammit!
Son of a bitch. Dammit!
Dammit!
Get him outta here. Go!
- Everybody, everything is under control, okay?
We are all okay.
Okay?
Everyone stay over this way, please.
- No.
- You guys, where the hell's Caroline?
- Somebody help us?
Shit!
Oh no!
Okay!
We should have taken a boat!
Thank God.
Please, somebody help.
- So fucked!
- Dude, take a chill pill.
- I dunno, I dunno...
- Franklin?
- Dirk.
You guys, are you okay?
- Franklin, what's going on?
- It's the Doctor. He's killing everyone.
- It's Kazswar too. They're working together.
- Hey, hey, hey, hey. Calm down. Okay.
Let's just take a minute here.
- It's true. We need your help.
- Collins has a phone in his office.
60108-pound.
- 60108-pound.
- Run. Go. I'll buy you some time.
- Thank you.
- Here, over here. Help, please!
Oh my God, please...
Thank God. Please!
You have to help my friends. You need to help us, please.
Please, we have to go.
- Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, listen to me.
I need you to take a deep breath.
I need you to-
- We have to go now, we have to go now.
- Alright, alright, alright.
- We have to, we have to go, please.
We have to go now. They have my friends.
- Go!
Phone!
- What the fuck are you doing?
- I'm waiting for confirmation.
- What the hell? - I don't see anyone.
- Deploy team members to your location.
We have been notified-
- It's not working.
- What do you mean it's not working?
Is it plugged in?
- No, it's just a message replaying over and over.
- What the hell is that?
- Compulsion, aggressive behavior,
problem contained.
- Leave me the fuck alone.
- It doesn't make any fucking sense, huh?
It doesn't make any sense. Those little shits.
- Calm down, Kaz.
- Don't fucking tell me to calm down.
If I didn't have a fucking job to do,
I would fuck you up right now.
- I wish you fucking would.
- Oh yeah, you wanna go, take this outside right now?
I'll beat the fuck outta you man!
Oh shit.
- Thanks for the goose egg, jackass.
- Sorry, I got lost in character.
- We don't have time for this, all right?
We still got four campers out there
and the sun will be up in an hour.
- I'm sorry, what do you think we've been doing?
- Some of us anyway.
- Okay, I see what's been going on.
Franklin, I'm gonna ask you this nicely, okay?
Where are they?
Where the fuck are they?
- What are you doing?
- I don't know, looking for keys or a walkie-talkie.
There has to be a way outta this damn place.
- I'm scared too, Pilar.
To be honest. I didn't think
I'd make camp friends this summer.
- Bro, we're not camp friends, dude, right?
We're friend-friends.
- When there's a fucking problem, who do you call?
Who do you call? Me. Fucking me, huh?
No, get back to work.
Get back to fucking work.
- Stay here.
Fucker!
That asshole's coming straight towards us.
We need to find a hiding spot now.
The closet.
- What the hell are you doing, man?
Get in here.
- Morgan, this is between me and him.
- That's always me. No, go ahead.
- Don't open this door
for any reason until I find help.
- No, no!
- We don't have time for this shit. I'm sorry.
Did you get hit in the face with a fucking boat?
No. No, I did.
Fucking bitch. Who do you think you fucking are?
Doink!
Zero...
Doink!
Oh, I'm coming in.
Jesus-fucking-Christ!
Doink!
Okay, Doink, did you ever hear the story
about the three little pigs?
Huh, Bud? Did you?
Okay, I'm gonna huff and I'm going to puff
and I'm going to kick the shit out of some fucking freaks.
You gonna open up that door for me, huh?
Fuck!
Knock!
Knock!
- My name is Dirk, shit-breath.
Fuck that punk!
- It seems like you got
a little situation here.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, no don't.
Jesus Christ.
You need to get your shit together, now.
- Initiate rollback protocol.
I repeat, initiate rollback protocol.
- Baby, they really did a number on you.
- Yeah.
- You okay?
- Yeah. Yeah.
Does it look bad?
- No.
- Okay. - No, you look hot.
- Awesome. - Yeah.
- That's good.
- Okay, we ready to go?
- No.
- I think we need to. - Okay.
- Okay. Come on, I got you.
- Okay. Wait, wait.
Okay, okay.
- Yeah, okay, here we go. Ready?
Shit.
- Okay.
- I hope Dirk is okay.
It's been a while.
- This is strange, right?
I mean, all of this is strange,
but personal files for camp?
- CJ...
- Hey Morgan, I found yours.
- Pilar, what does DOD stand for?
- Huh?
- On CJ's file, it says DOB stands for date of birth.
But what does DOD stand for?
- Let me see that.
- Where's my file?
- No...
Morgan?
- I get to see you now. - I get to see you now.
- We are gonna have some explaining to do tomorrow.
Do you have any idea how much this is gonna set us back?
- I know, I know, I know.
- That's not an answer.
Do you know there's still a couple
of them out there somewhere?
- What do you want me to say?
- Did you forget to sedate the cocoa?
- Seriously?
- Well, then what the hell happened, Rachel?
- Okay, I'll tell you what happened.
This whole ruse has been fucked from the get-go, okay?
The cocoa puts them to sleep, right?
It doesn't incapacitate them.
Yeah, I'm genuinely shocked that this is the first time...
- She acting all high and mighty
like she knew this wasn't gonna work the whole time.
- Oh, go to hell, Kazswar.
- Fuck you.
- Stop talking.
- His face is fucked. I'm gonna go get a med pack.
- Is it bad?
Fuck.
- You know, we slip under the cover of darkness
operating on these kids in the middle of the night.
- No, I operate on them, okay.
Your job is to convince them that they're a part
of something special here.
That's all you have to do is keep the illusion on track.
- Keep it on track. Really?
I'm sorry.
I've been doing this with you for how long now, Hugh?
- Well then you of all people should understand
that what happened.
- Are we dead?
Are we, are we fucking dead?
- Relax. - Relax.
Are you kidding me?
- We found our files.
I drowned.
- Look, I get that this is a lot for the two of you
to comprehend, right?
So, I think it's best if Laurie and I,
we're just going to take that-
Okay, okay.
All right. Yeah.
- Look, you're not dead. You're not.
Because you know what, you were never even born.
You saw the files.
Morgan Davis is dead.
He died last year, and I'm sorry, pal,
but you're not him.
How do I say this?
You are an approximation of what he could have been.
A guesstimate.
- Stop it right now.
Look at you, Collins.
Look at us. These are kids.
- They're not, Franklin. You know that.
- Oh really? They're crying and they're afraid.
This is supposed to be a safe and humane process, right?
This is not humane. This is terrifying.
- I lost my son in 2009. His name was Benjamin.
I understand why this feels so sinister to you,
but I'm trying to do something good.
I'm trying to keep families together.
This technology has given us a way
to alleviate every parent's worst nightmare.
So how can that be bad?
- Franklin, what are we doing?
- Just go. - Look, they know.
- Go. I'll do a system wipe.
- Okay, let's go.
Got a lot of shit to do.
- What do you want to know?
Outside, they're preparing for what we call a rollback.
That means we messed up, big time.
Essentially, these engineers come in
to wipe the last 24 hours from all campers memories.
- So we're robots?
- Not necessarily.
- But we're not human.
- Not completely.
- Why all the operations?
- Since you are what you are,
you don't necessarily grow on your own.
Sure, you eat and drink and bleed and all that stuff,
but it's all part of the program.
So they designed this camp where you come
and get tweaked all summer long.
After two months, you've grown a couple inches
or your legs get hairier.
- And the doctor?
- He's not real.
Collins made up the doctor story
to scare kids into staying in their bunks.
Those outfits are what we have to wear during the operations.
The masks essentially translate our words
into frequencies you can't decipher
so we don't wake you up.
- Are you a doctor?
- As of now, my official title
is senior programmer.
- So we just come to camp every year
for the rest of our lives.
- Well, the rest of your adolescence, sure.
But as you approach your late teens,
you'll probably attend something akin to camp,
like college trips, whatever.
- Do my friends know?
- Not unless your parents told them?
Most families like to start pretty new.
They get a...
A you.
They'll be repaired, physically,
and of course wake up with stiff limbs
and sore backs from everything,
but otherwise, it'll be like nothing ever happened.
- Why are you telling us all this?
- Because I think we're going to forget it.
- That's one of the best parts of being a kid: Not knowing.
Tomorrow, they'll wake up and they'll just be kids again.
I wanna give you both a choice.
Do you wanna forget all of this or...
...do you wanna have a say in what comes next?
- Okay, meal groups B and D can line up now.
- I'm glad you dudes are okay.
- What are you talking about, man?
- Nothing.
- Morgan, what's up?
- Hey.
- All right, guys, make sure you clean up all your trash
and your plates and garbage and-
- What the hell happened to you?
- I had a, a hiking accident.
- You sure it wasn't a boating accident?
- We just don't know what the hell
we're dealing with here.
- No, no, no, Sal, you don't know what you're dealing with.
All right? I started the goddamn program.
- I'm not talking about your catastrophe
last night Hugh.
The team has been drowning in the malfunction reports.
- The CJ thing?
It happens, all right.
We have a glitch.
I reset the kid.
It's under control.
- No, you're not hearing me.
We've received dozens of reports,
just like CJ's in the last 24 hours
from every goddamn camp on the grid.
- What are you talking about?
- We're experiencing some sort of systemic issue.
It's unlike anything we've ever seen before.
The algorithms of these kids are exhibiting
an alarming deviation from the program.
They're becoming hostile.
The team's working away.
We've got a full blown crisis on our hands here.
Dispatch teams are being deployed
to help contain this mess.
But Hugh, it's your neck on the line until we figure out
what the fuck we're dealing with here.
Hugh?
Goddammit, did you hear a single word I said?
Hugh?
You are fucking with...
