problems. They're able to function in
the community now because of the new

therapies. Twenty years ago, a patient
like Scott would have been

institutionalized. Just to give you an
idea, in this state alone, the

,000, which means that some people are a
lot better off than they were before.

And some people are living in a
precarious balance.

What about the drugs?

Scott claims that the drugs act like a
chemical straitjacket and they can't

function. And I don't know whether he's
acting strange because he's on the

medication or because he's not on the
