Original subtitles

Your Highness, we'll find a physician for you once we get to the city.

But I don't understand.

If Princess Anping is also the princess of Northern Liang,

then is she truly in love with Prince Gaoyang?

Or is she planning something?

To be honest,

I don't like you.

But I never wanted you to die.

Also, along the way,

we've escaped together.

We're companions.

You're hurt now.

I won't desert you.

Your Highness!

Young Lady, Huatai is ahead.

Let's get on the road.

Be careful.

Let's go the other way.

Young Lady, wait here.

Who are you?

Why are you following us?

It's you?

Come on.

Cheng An.

Didn't you go to the city with Prince Nan'an?

Your Highness.

Weiyoung.

I didn't go to the city.

Didn't you say that you don't do meaningless things?

You already left.

Why did you come back?

Didn't you say we're companions?

How could I desert you?

Also,

I'm worried about Jun.

Now I see that you're not always indifferent.

-So? -Your Highness.

One of the waiters said that there was a fight here.

Weiyoung...

What happened to Weiyoung?

General, we've received word

that 200,000 Liu Song soldiers are attacking Huatai.

Prince Gaoyang of Wei is defending the city.

What about Princess Anping? Where is she?

No word of her yet.

Didn't you send someone to follow them?

Why don't you know anything about this?

You lied to me.

You never wanted to save Weiyoung.

Don't forget, Your Highness.

You are from Rouran.

You are the prince of Rouran.

You lied to me.

What is your true intent?

Your Highness.

Have mercy, Your Highness.

Princess Anping is safe.

Don't worry, Your Highness.

What?

Princess Anping fled with Prince Nan'an.

We haven't received news about them yet.

It must be that they are safe.

Your Highness.

Where are you going?

I'm going to Huatai.

Why are you going there?

Tuoba Jun is there.

If Weiyoung is safe, she is going to go to him.

Your Highness!

Get out of the way!

You care about Li Weiyoung so much.

If one day,

she wants you to betray Rouran,

would you listen to her?

Over the past twenty years,

I've been a citizen of Wei.

Wei has raised and protected me.

If Rouran wants to kill the people of Wei,

I won't just sit around and do nothing.

But you are from Rouran.

You can kill me,

but you can't stop me.

Move!

Where is Cheng An going?

I told him to go see the Emperor

and report everything.

When we get out of the woods,

we'll be in Huatai.

We should go now.

Head back to Ping City

and give this letter to Chiyun Nan.

You're wrong.

I am indifferent and ruthless.

I'm not a good person

nor do I want to be one.

Around 5,000 men from Hulao are here.

Another 5,000 from Linji will be here tomorrow.

Along with our men, we don't even have 15,000 in total.

They have 100,000 men.

How are we going to win?

The provisions they brought can give us temporary relief,

but it won't last us for long.

No matter what,

we have to find a way to survive.

Your Highness,

the 5,000 men from Linji were ambushed by the Song army.

They're all dead.

Your Highness.

The Song army has surrounded Huatai.

We've lost all means of contact.

What should we do, Your Highness?

HUATAI

Your Highness, there are Song soldiers everywhere.

Huatai has been surrounded.

This makes it even more difficult for Tuoba Jun.

We can't get in either, Young Lady.

What should we do?

What do you think, Your Highness?

It's not difficult to solve this problem we have at Huatai.

The Song has 200,000 men.

They go through lots of provisions every day.

If we burn their provisions,

they'll have to retreat.

But we don't know where the Song army hides their provisions.

Also, there must be soldiers guarding it.

How are we going to burn it?

Can we only wait until help comes?

In the meantime, there is nothing we can do.

Tuoba Jun...

I know how to burn the Song army's provisions.

PRINCE NAN'AN'S MANOR

Cheng An?

Didn't His Highness come back with you?

His Highness is accompanying Princess Anping to Huatai.

Princess Anping?

Wasn't she sent to get married?

Why would His Highness take her to Huatai?

What happened?

Something happened on the way there.

His Highness got hurt.

Princess Anping saved him from dying.

He got hurt?

Is it serious?

He was struck by an arrow.

The wound was deep.

He could find a physician in the city,

but he turned back before that.

He accompanied Princess Anping to Huatai.

Lady Changru, I have errands to attend to.

Please excuse me.

His Highness is not a grateful person.

What happened...

between him and Li Weiyoung?

Why are you catching so many birds?

I have my reasons.

Don't worry. You'll find out soon.

You're still injured. Just sit and watch.

No need to help out.

Can't you be careful?

Thank you, Your Highness.

Tell His Highness

that I won't let him down.

Servants.

What is it, General?

Pick out 20 suicide warriors.

I have a task for them.

Yes, General.

General.

I want to help you, so I volunteer myself for this mission.

The odds are not in our favor at Huatai.

I value you very much.

You don't need to do this.

Yes, General.

-The provisions are on fire! -Fire!

-Hurry! -Put it out!

-Hurry! -Put the fire out!

-Fire! -The provisions are on fire!

It worked.

How did you do it?

I starved the birds for a day

and put some saltpeter powder on their claws.

The starving birds will find their way to the Song army's provisions.

When the saltpeter powder falls on the provisions,

just a tiny spark can set the whole pile on fire.

Birds that caught fire would fly all over the place,

which would then spread the fire to other piles of provisions.

-Young Lady. -Young Lady.

-Young Lady. -Young Lady.

Young Lady.

Young Lady.

I did it!

-We did it! -We burned their provisions.

-That's great! -I shouldn't underestimate

Li Weiyoung's intelligence.

If I can get her to marry me,

-she'll help me conquer the kingdom -Great!

and fulfill my ambition.

No matter what, I have to make her mine.

HUATAI

SONG

General.

General, bad news.

What is it?

Our provisions are on fire.

Damn it.

Retreat!

-Retreat! -Retreat!

-Yes! -Yes!

Your Highness!

Your Highness, the Song army's provisions caught fire.

They retreated right away.

-They retreated? -Yes!

-Yes! -Yes!

-Yes! -Yes!

Your Highness, you are quite incredible.

But I'm curious,

how did you burn their provisions?

Someone else burned their provisions.

It wasn't me.

Who was it, then?

I want to know as well.

Weiyoung.

Tuoba Jun!

That's amazing.

Princess Anping came up with a way to burn their provisions.

I admire you very much.

Cheers to Your Highness.

You are a hero among women.

Now I'd like to drink to Prince Gaoyang.

If it weren't for you, Huatai would be conquered

and we would all be dead.

Prince Gaoyang saved us.

He saved Wei.

From now on,

Prince Gaoyang will be the one we look up to!

-Prince Gaoyang! -Prince Gaoyang!

This is not my own accomplishment.

If it weren't for your bravery,

how could we defeat the Song army again and again?

Now I'd like to drink

to all you soldiers.

Thank you, Uncle Yu, for offering your help.

Thank you as well

for protecting Weiyoung.

Now

I have to drink to you, Uncle Yu.

No need for these formalities.

I'm also a member of the Tuoba family.

Of course, it's my responsibility to protect my homeland.

Cheers.

-Cheers. -Cheers.

-Yes! -More!

-Have some more! -Yes!

-Let's drink all night. -Yes!

-Here. -Here.

Jun Tao, try this.

It's really good.

You...

You want the chicken?

No.

That's enough food. Let's drink now.

Jun Tao.

Let me drink to you. All right?

Jun Tao.

He is drunk.

That's not true.

I'm not drunk.

Here, Jun Tao.

Let's drink.

Here.

Who said you could call me? Get out of here.

There are so many people here.

Give me some face.

Go away!

Jun Tao, I'm sorry!

I'm sorry.

I mean, I'm sorry, my lady.

I didn't kiss you on purpose.

Don't take it seriously. I didn't--

I'll kill you!

No, please don't!

Stop!

Stop!

Help me!

I'll kill you!

Why are you looking at me like that?

Do I have something on my face?

I want to know

what you're thinking inside that head of yours.

Why are you so smart?

How did you come up with that idea?

An ordinary man like you won't be able to understand.

Weiyoung.

Even though in front of the soldiers,

I carried myself like I knew what I was doing,

deep inside,

I didn't know what to do.

If it weren't for you

and your brilliant idea to burn down their provisions,

I don't know what...

You saved us.

You saved Wei.

I didn't want to save anyone.

I was just worried about you.

The Song army probably won't attack us anytime soon.

Tomorrow morning,

I'll have someone take you back to Ping City.

No.

I won't leave.

I have to wait until the Wei army gets here.

I have to be with you.

Weiyoung.

That's too dangerous.

I don't want you to risk your life.

Don't forget,

you have more important things to do.

I once asked myself,

which is more important.

You or getting revenge?

Before, I never had an answer.

But when I heard

that you were hurt,

all I could think about was saving you.

That's when I realized,

in the past,

I was caught up in love and hate.

But they were just meaningless worries.

Because these two things

can't even be compared

or measured.

Now

you are a part of my life.

To leave you when you are at your lowest point

is impossible for me.

This time,

it might be more dangerous than you think.

I really can't risk it.

Do you understand?

Have you forgotten our vows?

"Together forever,

through thick and thin."

I believe you can overcome all challenges

and take me back safely.

This is a lucky charm.

Keep it with you.

It'll keep you safe.

Keep me safe...

Keeping you safe is what keeps me safe.

Even though the Song's main army has retreated,

a smaller army remains.

This is the Song camp.

I'm going to take some men

and cross this mountain to ambush them from behind.

Your Highness.

That mountain is quite steep and rocky.

Even if you cross it and get behind them,

it'll be hard to ambush them successfully.

That's why,

I have other arrangements.

This is a canal that leads to a river outside the city.

I see that Uncle Yu knows my intentions.

From the canal, we follow the river

to the right side of their camp.

By attacking them from two directions,

we'll catch them off guard.

I'm sure we'll be able to destroy them.

That's right.

As long as the ambush succeeds,

we'll be able to last until the court's army arrives.

I'll go with you this time.

The two of us

will stand side by side in battle.

-Prepare everything. -Yes, Your Highness.

Wait for my orders to head out.

Yes, Your Highness.

Your Highness.

What is it?

The only reason I was able to see Tuoba Jun

was because you protected me along the way.

I just wanted to say thank you.

This is a lucky charm.

It will keep you safe.

Shouldn't you give this to Jun?

I already gave him one.

I made them both myself.

Thank you.

Something feels off.

I would like to see

if your handmade lucky charm

can keep him safe or not.

Soldiers,

are you ready?

-Yes, Your Highness. -Yes, Your Highness.

Tuoba Jun.

You can't go.

Why?

I won't get in the way.

Maybe I can even help.

This is war.

This isn't a woman's business.

You underestimate women.

Weren't you just complimenting me for burning the Song army's provisions?

This is different.

We'll be facing them head-on.

If you come along,

I'll have to protect you. That will make it more dangerous.

Don't worry, I'll be fine.

Also,

I have a treasure.

What is it?

Its name is

"Keep Me Safe."

Wait for me.

I'll come back safe.

Everyone.

-Yes, sir! -Yes, sir!

Let's head out!

-Yes, sir! -Yes, sir!

Young Lady.

His Highness is right.

It's too dangerous this time.

I won't let you risk it.

Your Highnesses.

The cliff is ahead.

That section is unavoidable.

And it's also the most dangerous.

Once we get past that section,

we'll be able to get behind the Song army.

This part is critical.

Stay sharp, everyone.

-Yes. -Yes.

-Protect His Highness! -Your Highness!

Ambush!

-Your Highness! -Jun!

-Protect him! -Your Highness!

Protect His Highness!

-Let's go! -Jun!

-Your Highness! -Jun!

Your Highness!

Let's cancel the operation.

Escort him back.

We can't cancel it.

There's only one chance.

-Uncle Yu... -Jun, your injury.

You'll have to

carry on without me.

Your Highness.

Your Highness!

I'll leave Jun with you.

Okay.

Jun is such a brave and fearless man.

I'm proud of my grandson.

I'm glad you're here.

Your Majesty.

You may rise.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

I'm sure you've heard

that Liu Song betrayed our trust and ambushed Huatai.

Jun was able to defeat them

and teach them a lesson.

I am very happy.

Very happy indeed.

Your Highness,

Prince Gaoyang has made up for his mistakes.

The Emperor has recalled his punishment.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

But the battlefield is unpredictable.

I'm worried about Jun.

Children of the Tuoba family see it

as their responsibility to protect the kingdom.

They are not afraid of death.

Jun's actions this time have won my approval.

Don't worry.

We have sent out help.

They will be there in no time

to help Jun defeat the enemy.

His Highness' injury is too serious. We lack the medicine to treat it.

We must send His Highness back to Ping City.

Hang in there.

I'll bring you back to Ping City.

Tuoba Jun.

Don't leave me...

Prince Nan'an has succeeded!

-Great! -Success!

-Yes! -Yes!

We've defeated the enemy.

Tonight,

we will feast!

-Long live Prince Nan'an! -Long live Prince Nan'an!

You're back.

Your Highness.

We'll talk later.

What's going on out there, Jun Tao?

Prince Nan'an has succeeded.

The soldiers are celebrating.

If His Highness didn't get hurt,

he would be the one being celebrated.

Who cares about that now?

I just hope that His Highness

can get better soon.

He must be sent back to Ping City right away.

The horses and carriages are ready.

I'll also send some soldiers to escort.

Hurry now. You should be on your way.

Yes, Your Highness.

I'm coming along.

I want to be with Tuoba Jun.

Very well. As you wish.

Your Highness.

Tell Chiyun Nan which route Tuoba Jun is taking to Ping City.

He'll know what to do.

Your Highness has secured Huatai.

Once the court's army gets here,

the Song will be completely defeated.

I'm sure that Your Highness will be rewarded.

Once Prince Gaoyang dies,

there won't be anyone competing with you for the title of Crown Prince anymore.

It's a trap.

Bai Zhi, run!

Bai Zhi, it's me.

Young Master Minde?

Why are you here? Where is Weiyoung?

Come with me.

I thought His Highness could drink.

Who knew he would pass out so soon?

Right?

-Here. -Here.

Be careful, Your Highness.

Let me out!

Let me out!

It's so dark in here!

Your Highness!

Your Highness, what's going on?

He was a spy.

He tried to kill me.

I'm so sorry, Your Highness.

Get the body out. Quick.

-Yes, sir. -Yes, sir.

Your Highness, I apologize.

I had them blow out the lights.

Please punish me.

If this happens again,

don't blame me for being ruthless.

Yes, Your Highness.

Is there no way to cure this mental illness of yours?

-If anyone finds out-- -Get out!

Yes, Your Highness.

From what you said,

you can't be in the dark alone.

Or else, you will have anxiety attacks

and lose control of your actions.

I have come across this kind of illness before.

It is usually caused by traumatic events in childhood.

Ordinary medicine cannot cure it.

It is a kind of mental illness.

It can only be conquered through the mind.

"It can only be conquered through the mind."

Cheng An.

Cheng An.

Cheng An!

What is it, Your Highness?

Send someone.

No matter what,

you must make sure Li Weiyoung lives.

Why, Your Highness?

-Didn't you promise Chiyun-- -Stop talking!

Your Highness, it might be too late.

Enough of that.

If Li Weiyoung is dead,

I'll have your head!

Yes, Your Highness.

His hands are cold.

Tuoba Jun, are you feeling better?

This time, I'll protect you.

I wonder how Bai Zhi and others are doing.

Young Lady, what's wrong?

I'm worried someone will try to kill His Highness.

What should we do?

There is a cave up there.

I'll take him in there.

We'll meet up in the cave.

Young Lady.

Minde?

Young Lady.

Bai Zhi, are you all right?

Why are you two together?

Some men in black tried to kill me.

Young Master Minde saved me.

What about Jun Tao and Cheng De?

Who is it?

My name is Cheng An. I work for Prince Nan'an.

I came to escort Princess Anping

and Prince Gaoyang back to Ping City.

YIWU

CROWN PRINCE'S MANOR

Your Highness.

Get out of the way.

Jun.

How did he get so hurt?

What happened?

Please call for the royal physician right away, Your Highness.

He is not doing well.

Hurry.

Carry him inside now.

Li Weiyoung. It's you again.

Every time Jun is with you, nothing good happens.

Are you trying to kill him?

-Your Highness... -If anything happens to him,

I'll never forgive you.

Also,

in this lifetime,

you'll never be with him.

I understand how you feel, Your Highness.

But Prince Gaoyang's life is more important than mine.

I won't give up.

You...

Get out!

Your Highness,

let me take you back to the Prime Minister's manor.

Weiyoung.

I knew that you would come home safely.

It's because the lucky charm you gave me

was protecting me.

Thank you so much.

Your Highness, if that's all,

I'll get going now.

I heard Minde say

that you never got to Liu Song for marriage.

But you went to Huatai to defend the city.

You were in a lot of danger.

What in the world happened?

It's a long story.

But being able to return safely,

I have to thank one person.

Who is it?

Prince Nan'an.

He didn't just save me,

he even escorted me to Huatai.

I always thought that he was cold and indifferent,

but he is not as cruel as I thought.

I'll stop there for now.

I need to go see Grandmother and Mother

as well as Prince Gaoyang.

I'll go see Grandmother with you.

My lord, wait.

Rong'er?

What is it?

My lady would like to ask if His Highness is doing better.

Also,

do you have a letter from His Highness for my lady?

No.

How about a message for my lady?

His Highness has been busy.

He might have forgotten.

Very well, my lord.

So much has happened.

I'm glad that Prince Nan'an

and Minde's men got there in time.

Who knows what would have happened?

The Emperor has been informed of what happened.

The court's army

is on their way.

This time,

the Emperor won't punish you,

he'll even reward you.

That's not important.

What's important

is that my Weiyoung is home safe and sound.

While you were gone,

Old Madam prayed and burned incense for you,

hoping that it would keep you safe.

Since you left,

your mother hasn't been able to sleep well.

I'm sorry that I let you, Father, and Mother

worry about me.

In my opinion, she brings bad luck.

Wherever she goes, bad things happen.

She was sent to get married, but look at what happened instead.

Changxi, stop that nonsense.

I'm not wrong, though.

Of course, I'm not as fortunate as you are.

Of course.

Everyone says that I have luck written on my face.

I bring luck to my family now.

In the future, I'll bring luck to my husband.

Since you're so lucky,

maybe next time when I see the Emperor,

I'll propose this to him.

The next time we need to marry someone off to another country,

we'll have you give it a go.

That way

everything will go smoothly and successfully.

I don't want to do that.

That's enough.

The Emperor

has ordered Prince Nan'an to lead the army against the Song army.

If he can defeat the Song army,

I believe there will be a change of atmosphere in court.

All we need to do is to stay fair and just.

We shouldn't get involved in matters like that.

Weiyoung.

I heard that Prince Gaoyang was hurt by Song soldiers.

Was it serious?

Yes, Grandmother.

I have to go see His Highness.

He'll get better.

I know he will.

He will. I know he will.

Young Lady.

Nothing at all?

Not even a message?

Nothing at all.

If he can risk his life to escort Li Weiyoung,

why couldn't he send me a message or a letter?

Could it be that

I'm not in his heart?

If you're worried about Prince Nan'an,

assuming things won't be of any use.

How about you ask him about it?

I'll write a letter now

and take it to his residence myself.
