Previously on SWAT...

Let's go say hi to Grandpa.

- Hondo's working. - Mm.

And I have to get over to the center before it opens.

It's no thing at all.

The deck's been stacked against you forever.

You come from a family of croos and shady characters.

Your father killed a cop.

But you don't let any

of that affect your work.

One of our videos somehow went viral.

And Lincoln Gate's manager asked us

to open for the northwest leg of their tour.

That's amazing.

- Who are they? - Thomas's parents.

Did you tell Thomas he should drop out of college?

Drop out? No.

He wanted to defer a semester.

Well, my parents and I got into a huge fight.

I think you need to go home to your parents.

- Why? - They came to HQ and...

So all three of you were conspiring behind my back?

Okay, I don't have to listen to what any of you have to say.

Not bad.

Guess you did a lot of the driving on Oakland SWAT.

Okay.

Solid handling.

All right, let's take her home.

You ready for a little something extra?

Whoa!

What the...?

Where'd you learn how to drive like that?

Playing Grand Theft Auto most

of my childhood, naturally.

Seriously?

Wow.

When's it our turn, boss?

Level 12 of your driving modules, Ryan.

- How many levels are there? - Eight.

In other words, you'll never learn it.

Now, back to transport. See you at HQ.

I told you she could drive.

We still have 15 minutes before we need to go in.

You want to give it a shot?

Damn right I do.

Think you're up for that last move?

Harder than it looks, huh?

Aah!

Damn it!

- Ah. - Oh!

Oh, yeah.

Hicks is gonna have my head.

A recruit wrecked a Charger last week. He was livid.

Just tell him his favorite new hire did it. He'll love that.

This isn't funny, Gamble.

I'm already taking heat over how I'm running SWAT Academy.

Ugh. I'm so screwed.

I don't know how I'm gonna fix this.

I might have a solution.

Just...

give me a minute.

Good morning, beautiful.

Morning.

Mm.

Did I miss my mom?

Yeah, she came and grabbed Vivie while you were in the shower.

She and your pops are taking her for pancakes this morning,

some place - your pops raves about. - Oh.

Arnold's. Well, let's see if my pops is still raving

once they get our little girl amped up

on syrup and whipped cream.

They're about to have their hands full.

Hey, speaking of...

You know your mom will never complain,

but I think watching Vivie all the time is getting

to be too much for her.

We really need to make a decision on which day care.

Well, baby, you know where I stand.

This place is clean, structured and safe.

Checks all the boxes.

Hondo, they have a panic room.

The main entrance had metal detectors.

Okay, so they're serious about security.

That's not a bad thing.

I don't have a problem with that.

In fact, it's one of the main selling points for me.

It's a kiddie prison.

Rules everywhere.

The only thing missing are guard towers.

Cuddlebugs is so much warmer.

More friendly.

No bars on the windows, less padding.

They promoted free play.

Nichelle, these kids were running wild.

And the director looked at me like I was nuts

when I asked about security protocol.

Hondo, you know my mom and dad bubble-wrapped me.

They were the OGs of helicopter parenting.

Never giving me freedom

to make mistakes, to fail, to get hurt.

All the things kids need to do to figure out who they are,

to build confidence.

And it seems to have worked out just fine to me.

You are one of the most confident,

well-adjusted people I know.

No, not during my teenage years.

When I met my first mean girl, got a bad grade...

I was a hot mess.

These early years are crucial.

Which is why I want to keep our baby safe.

Babe, we can't protect her from absolutely everything.

Does that mean we shouldn't try?

I got to go.

We'll talk more about this later.

I love you.

♪ It's a long way home.

You know, Powell,

there's no caffeine benefit

unless you actually pour it in a cup and drink it.

Sorry. I spaced out there.

What are you listening to?

Oh, a song.

Thomas, my son... he wrote it... about me.

Kid wrote a song about you?

I'm assuming it's a nice one.

It's really nice.

Why so glum, then?

We had a falling out.

I waited his whole life to meet him,

and now I think I've lost him.

I want to make it right.

I just... I don't know how.

Did you tell him that?

I don't want to make it worse.

I think he just needs time, you know, to cool off.

Well, from a dad who's stumbled through parenting

and made a few mistakes along the way,

you open to advice?

Wide.

Call the kid.

What's the worst that can happen? He ignores you?

The most important thing is, you'll showed you care.

You won't regret it.

Yeah.

You're probably right.

Well...

Thanks, Commander.

Relax. It's going to be so much fun.

If you think a sore back's fun.

Why are Americans so into camping, anyways?

Sleeping on the ground with only a flimsy tent for protection?

Because of nature, fresh air, the sound of waves.

Ah. Hmm. Seaside Inn has the sound of waves

and a private bathroom.

Nightly wine-tasting, too. Check it out.

Vasu!

Hey, Hondo, I should be at HQ in about a half hour.

Just finishing up at the hospital with Victoria.

She's getting what should be her final MRI.

Yeah, yeah, doctor said she's doing great,

almost as if she was never born with a hole in her heart.

Yeah, feels like this chapter is finally over.

Help!

- He's been shot! - Hondo, I'll call you right back.

- Someone help us. - My boyfriend's been shot. - We need help

- out here. - Okay.

Help him, please.

I got it.

Come on.

He's got a gunshot wound to the chest. Are you okay?

I don't know.

This might be Vasu's blood. Is he okay?

Hey, they're doing everything they can. Tell me your name.

- Anu. - Anu, what happened?

I don't know. We were just driving.

Some men started shooting at us from a car.

- Did you get a look at them? - Not really.

They looked Indian.

Okay, look at me. Look at me. How about the car?

Anything...?

- It's them! - Get down!

Come on, come on.

Hey.

- Deac, what happened? - Are you okay? - Yeah, I'm good.

Three gunmen just opened fire outside the hospital.

They fled eastbound on Olympic in a silver Honda Accord,

no plates.

We got to get these guys, Hondo.

They don't give a damn about collateral damage.

How's Annie and Victoria?

They're okay. They're on their way home.

They were on the other side of the building.

They didn't hear a thing.

What do we know?

Anu Bose and Vasu Singh were the targets.

They're UCLA grad students.

They've been dating about a year.

Vasu took a gunshot to the chest.

He's heading into surgery.

Anu's arm was grazed.

She appears to be okay, physically at least.

You get a look at the shooters?

South Asian, medium build, five-nine to six feet.

I put out a BOLO on their car. See what that gets us.

Hey. How you feeling?

Anu,

this is Sergeant Harrelson.

He's also with LAPD SWAT.

I'm sorry you're going through this.

I don't know what I'll do

if he doesn't make it.

Why would someone do this to us?

Well, we're gonna try to figure that out.

Do you have any idea

why these men started shooting?

Maybe you cut 'em off?

You think it could have been road rage?

We have no idea, but we have to consider all possibilities.

Is there any other reason you can think of

why someone would want to hurt you or Vasu?

No.

We're just students. It makes no sense.

You haven't received any threats recently?

There's no jealous exes

out there that might be to blame?

Vasu's my first real boyfriend.

Anu? Anything can help us. Anything at all.

It might be my imagination,

but I could've sworn I was being followed

a couple weeks ago.

It was a different car, but I kept seeing it

at least three or four times.

Do you remember any details about it?

I took a photo the last time,

so if I saw it again,

I'd know for sure.

Do you mind showing that to us?

I'm gonna send this over to Powell. She can run the plates.

The faster we put an end to these guys, the better.

- What the hell is this place? - Trust me.

Oof!

This is bad. You said it was just a ding.

This ain't just no ding.

Can you fix it by end of day or nah?

It's gonna be tight.

Promised Omar I'd do his suspension

and Ingrid I'd fix her transmission.

- Don't worry, then. - Hey, hey, come on, come on.

Just making you beg.

But I got to know,

how'd you wreck it?

I told you already, training exercise.

Mm-hmm. You know she's the best driver around here, right?

Used to be tearing up the streets around here

like nobody's business.

Never even scratched a car.

Which is why I know you, my friend,

wrecked this car. Not my sis.

He's your brother?

Twin, actually.

Although you wouldn't know it.

Haven't seen her ass

since Ma's birthday weekend.

You said you'd be coming on Sunday.

Just fix it, Leon,

and don't mess with anything.

As if I would.

- It'll be done by 2:00. - Okay.

Oh, hey, uh...

I got all this ramen inside.

I bought way too much at Costco.

- You want some? - All good. Just the car.

How about your boyfriend?

I'm not her boyfriend.

- Don't engage. - Hey.

Don't forget, you owe me.

Owe him what exactly?

- Don't worry about it. - Course I'm worried.

We just brought a police car

to what looks like a chop shop, and a known criminal

says we owe him.

This isn't ideal for me either,

but we don't have

a lot of options, do we?

How about a thank you?

What's up? Any hits on our shooters' car?

Not yet, but check this out.

The female victim told Hondo and Deacon

that she was recently being followed.

Took a photo of the car.

Turns out it's registered to a company called

Angel City Investigations.

Yeah, I've heard of them.

They do mostly P.I. work...

digging up dirt, spying on cheating spouses.

How about hired hits?

Think they would cross that line?

You know, Hondo and Deacon are still out.

I'm gonna reroute 'em over to Angel City Investigations,

- see what they can find out. - Copy.

Hey.

Did you call Thomas yet?

No. I think it's best to leave him alone,

let him cool off.

Negative. Call him. Trust me.

Please leave a message.

Hey, Thomas, it's me.

Look, I'm sorry I couldn't let you stay.

This is all so new to me, too. I just...

I'm just trying not to screw up.

I hope we can get through this.

In the meantime, I'm-I'm...

I'm really enjoying the song.

Anyway, just reach out whenever you can, okay?

Look.

I know it wasn't an easy ask,

and I'm grateful you stepped up. It's just...

I checked Leon's record when you joined the team...

grand theft, forgery, six months for assault.

Your brother Judd's got an even more colorful history.

I'm aware.

Which is why I keep my distance.

It's hard to leave the cop at the door, so I stay away.

The less I know, the better.

Can't be easy.

It isn't.

Did you get something back on the shooters?

No, it's just one of the day care places

Nichelle and I have been scouting.

My mom's been having hip pain,

so it's been harder for her to chase Vivie around.

Plus it's probably time for Vivienne to hang out

with people her own size. Only problem is,

Nichelle and I can't seem to get on the same page

about where to send her.

There's nothing easy

about leaving your kid with strangers.

And the older they get, the less control you have.

You're always gonna worry about who they're with.

Well, that's why I've been running background checks

on the staff at Cuddlebugs.

That's the place Nichelle really likes,

but everything's been coming back clear.

- Normally, that's a good thing. - Deac, the place is like

a kiddie-run asylum, man. Total chaos.

I just want somewhere more secure for Vivienne.

No, and I get it. We've seen some terrible things out there.

You just want some better walls for Vivie.

Exactly. Exactly, only Nichelle doesn't see it that way.

And I'm just not sure

- how we're ever gonna agree. - You know, Annie and I

went through a similar thing.

Remember when she wanted Lila to go to private school

and I was against it?

- Mm-hmm. - Yeah. Well, eventually,

we found a compromise. You will, too.

Yeah, this is Sergeant David Kay, LAPD.

Please call me back

at this number when you get this message. Thank you.

Deacon, look who's here.

That's the same car Anu said was following her.

I take it you work here?

York Shafer. Owner. What could I do for you?

Well, you could tell us why you've been spying on

two grad students who were shot this morning.

I hope you're not implying that I'm somehow involved.

My company's not in the assassination business.

Just digging up information for the right price.

Okay, well, then who paid for information

for Anu Bose and Vasu Singh?

Sergeant, you know I can't blab the moment a cop shows up

without so much as a subpoena.

It'll destroy my reputation.

You know what else will destroy your reputation?

Two counts of attempted murder.

Innocent folks almost died,

so I suggest you start talking.

All I can tell you,

you should be sniffing closer to home.

Have you talked to girl's parents?

Her parents hired you?

They wanted to find out what she's up to,

who she's been hanging out with.

They couldn't just talk to their own daughter?

They tried. Got nothing.

So we got their business.

You would not believe how much I profit

from dysfunctional families.

What did you find?

Oh, for that, you're gonna need a warrant.

Until then, officers, good luck.

I'll call Hicks, have him send a unit over

to pick up Anu's parents.

In the meantime, maybe Anu can shed some light

on why her parents paid to have her followed.

The hospital's on the way back. Let's go find out.

LAPD. What happened?

I don't know. I got out, went to get my coat,

felt a crack from behind, everything went black.

- Do you still have your ID card? - Pinned to my coat.

Both are gone.

20-David to dispatch.

We're at the Jorge Arellano Memorial Hospital.

Possible shooter inside.

Suspect is possibly a South Asian male.

Entering the building with 30-David now.

A man with a gun just stormed the OR.

He's looking for a patient.

He's headed to post-op.

East wing. Hurry.

Get to the street. Go, go, go, go.

- Anyone seen the gunman? - He's right there.

Hondo, 11 o'clock.

- LAPD! Stop right there! - Code silver,

east wing, post-op...

I lost visual. Move, move.

- Where's post-op? - Right there.

Hurry up.

Cover me.

Drop the gun. Hands in the air.

Moving.

20-David. Suspect down.

He's gone.

This isn't over.

Three gunmen attacked Vasu and Anu.

That means two of them are still out there.

Then we better find 'em.

They're not gonna give up on killing Vasu.

And I don't think they give a damn

on who they hurt in the process.

There's no easy way to ask you this, Anu,

but would your parents pay to have Vasu killed?

My parents?

- They don't even know he exists. - Actually, they do.

The car that was following you belongs to a company

that conducts private investigations.

Your parents hired them to spy on you.

Nursing supervisor to the recovery room...

That's why they've been acting so weird.

They found out.

You said that you and Vasu have been dating

almost a year. They didn't know?

I only see Vasu at school and his place.

He's never been to our house.

I've purposely kept him a secret.

Why?

I know they love me,

but my parents try to control everything I do.

My sister had a failed marriage.

Now they want to choose

who I marry. It's exhausting.

How does Vasu fall short?

He shouldn't.

He's the smartest, kindest person

I've ever met,

but he's Sikh, not Hindu.

Is that enough for them to want him killed?

I don't think so.

But you're also not sure.

Parents can do crazy things to protect their kids.

Mr. and Mrs. Bose,

I want to thank you both for coming in.

- Um, what's this about? - Well,

we'd like to know why you hired

a private investigator to follow your daughter.

That's not a crime.

No.

But hiring a hit man is.

Hit man?

What are you talking about?

Your daughter and Vasu Singh were

victims of a shooting this morning.

- Shooting? - Is Anu okay?

She's shaken up, but she'll be fine.

Vasu, however, was almost killed.

Oh, God.

We only wanted to find out who she's with.

She sneaks around, doesn't tell us anything.

She said you try to control her. Could that be why?

Our culture is different to yours.

We're very involved in our children's lives.

Hiring a P.I.

to tail Anu is a little more

than involved, don't you think?

We only have

her best interests at heart.

Mm-hmm.

Dating Vasu Singh isn't one of them.

Because he's Sikh?

No.

It's because of his extremism.

It's likely

what put her in danger.

Extremism?

The investigator uncovered that Vasu's involved

in a Sikh separatist movement.

They want to carve India up

the way the British did when they created Pakistan.

Isn't Vasu just a kid studying computer science?

And using that education to run a website

promoting their separatist nonsense.

Angel City sent us a report

about Vasu yesterday.

We were gonna talk to Anu tonight.

Whoa, whoa. Uh, who are you calling?

Our daughter.

I assume we're free to go?

After you give us that report.

We'd prefer not to.

It contains personal information.

It could also contain

intel about whoever attacked your daughter.

Where do I send it?

Hey, Nichelle. Nice to see you.

I'll, uh, catch you later.

Hey.

Everything okay?

I thought you were at the IG's office today.

I was until I got this email.

"Congratulations on joining the Funshine family"?

You signed Vivie up

for that place without talking to me first?

Okay, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down.

Baby, they had one spot left.

I just paid the deposit to hold it until we decided.

I figured we'd discuss it tonight.

Well, what's to discuss?

I don't want Vivie spending a single day in that place.

- It's soulless. - So what?

You just want to turn her loose in that nuthouse you liked?

- Hondo, this is our child. - Exactly.

Uh...

Baby, I get that marriage is all about compromise, but...

Nichelle, I'm sorry.

Vivie is the one place I just can't do that.

I have to go.

We'll talk about this later, I guess.

You learn anything after talking to Anu's parents?

Only that neurotic parenting's

not a strictly American disease,

but I don't think they're behind the shooting.

Well, I'm sure Anu will be relieved to hear that.

Powell's reviewing the Angel City report on Vasu.

In the meantime,

Tan's working on the shooter

you just took down at the hospital.

And hopefully he's got something.

Hey. What'd you find out?

Took a minute to catch an ID.

Guy's not a local. He's Canadian.

Shivan Samtani, 46.

Has ties to a violent

ultranationalist group suspected of assassinating

Sikh separatist leaders on Indian and foreign soil.

Back in '85, when Shivan was a kid,

his mother's flight from Canada to India

exploded over the Atlantic Ocean.

I remember that.

And at the time, it was the deadliest act

of aviation terrorism in history.

Sikh separatist leaders were alleged

to have carried out the bombing.

So, are we thinking that this is the basis

- for his hatred of Sikhs? - Planted the seed maybe.

And it wasn't the only tragedy at the time.

There was more conflict.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of Sikh militants

and civilians were killed at their holiest temple.

Followed by the assassination of the prime minister

who ordered the raid,

at the hands of her Sikh bodyguards.

Okay, but this all happened in the '80s.

These guys are killing now.

Yeah, the Sikh separatist movement mostly went dormant,

but with the recent rise of nationalism in India,

there are fresh calls for a Sikh homeland.

No doubt reopening old wounds.

Any leads on the other two shooters?

I'm thinking Shivan's younger brother Tejan.

He could've been the driver,

but I-I didn't get a good look.

I cross-referenced the Samtani brothers

with Border Patrol.

Turns out they came into the U.S.

from Canada two days ago with this guy.

Okay, now, him I recognize.

He was one of the shooters from this morning.

Nilesh Bindal.

He's got an even deeper

and deadlier criminal file than the other two.

All right, so what in the world is their beef

with a UCLA grad student?

Well, Anu's parents said Vasu runs a website

promoting a Sikh homeland.

And given our shooters' violent history...

with the separatist movement,

that has to be it.

Ah. CHP just tagged

the silver Honda Accord from this morning.

It was ditched near

the La Brea exit off the 10 freeway.

Grab Gamble, go check it out.

If these guys dumped it

in a hurry, they might've left something behind.

I'll see if Powell found out anything

that might tell us where they're headed next.

All right.

You find anything useful in the Angel City file

- on Anu and Vasu? - Once I got past

creepy long lens photos of them having lunch,

holding hands, I focused in on this.

Is that the website that Vasu runs?

Runs is an overstatement.

Looks like Vasu helped develop it a few months ago.

One of the first posts is a shout-out

thanking Vasu for setting it up.

That might be what put the target on his back

and the bullet in his chest.

Vasu's involvement ends there, though.

All the content is authored by two admins:

Punjabi84,

Turbinator02.

They claim Sikhs are no longer welcome in India.

- Hmm. - Appears to be a fringe movement

at this point.

Posts are about why Sikhs deserve a sovereign state

and calls to action.

Yeah, with some pretty harsh reactions in the comments.

That's putting it mildly.

Wait, hold on, stop.

That one.

"You and your movement are over.

One down, two to go."

That was just posted - an hour ago. - Think it's the killers?

We got to find out who these administrators are,

this Punjabi84 and Turbinator02.

They're anonymous on the website,

but I've already bumped this to Cyber Division

to see if they can unveil their true identities.

They got to be the next targets.

If we don't find them and warn them,

they're gonna end up dead.

Let you know as soon as I hear.

Uh-oh.

Bad news?

Actually, yeah.

I took your advice, and now my son wants

nothing to do with me, so... Ah.

Thanks for that.

Call him again.

You can't be serious.

There was a time I was going

through a rough patch with my son J.P.

And, you know, I thought I'd let things cool off,

wait until he came to me.

Well, we didn't talk for over a year.

And when I finally did reach out to him,

he was pissed, not because of our fight

but because he felt abandoned.

Look,

Thomas just needs to know you're there for him always,

even during a fight.

So call the kid again

and don't stop calling.

Sir.

Cyber Division just dropped the IDs

of the two guys running the website with Vasu.

Do we have their numbers?

- Oh, sorry, one second. - Yeah.

Hello.

Arjan Vahali,

this is Commander Hicks,

LAPD SWAT.

What's your location?

What's this about?

Are you with Raj Gupta?

Yeah, Raj is here, too.

We believe you're in real danger.

Vasu Singh was shot this morning.

The shooters could be after you.

Where are you now?

We're at the Sikh Gurdwara.

It's downtown.

They're already here.

We're sending officers. Find a safe place

to barricade yourselves until SWAT arrives.

- We're on our way. - Powell.

Quickly,

quietly, come follow us.

Hurry, please.

Everybody get down and stay quiet.

The police are on their way.

It'll be okay. Promise.

Everybody get down and hide.

They're coming.

Stay here, okay?

Arjan, he'll kill you!

We'll go out the front.

Wait. Shh. Another is coming. Get back.

20-David to Command.

We have an active shooter in the temple.

Making entry now.

We're looking for two South Asian males,

both around five-foot-nine, medium build.

There could be more.

We do not want a hostage situation.

Heads on a swivel.

22-David.

We're five minutes out.

Hondo, we can't wait.

Let's move.

Powell.

LAPD.

It's okay. We're police.

Ma'am, have you seen Arjan and Raj?

They went that way, towards the storeroom.

Just sit tight and stay quiet.

Deacon, head to the storeroom, find Arjan.

Powell, you're my two.

30-David. Multiple civilians in the kitchen.

I'm heading to the storeroom on the east side of the temple.

30-David. One gunman down.

Hey, you doing okay?

Yeah, it's my shoulder.

It's bleeding pretty badly.

Yeah, we got to stop that bleeding.

We got an injured victim

in the storeroom with a GSW to the shoulder.

Needs an evac. Have an R/A standing by

until we give the all clear.

All right. You ready?

'Cause you're not gonna like this.

All right, you keep pressure on that

and stay hidden until someone comes to get you.

- Do you understand? - Yeah.

Don't do this, brother.

I warned you.

W-We're both Indians.

When it suits you.

When you're not trying

to tear the country apart.

LAPD! Drop the weapon.

One move and he dies!

You're gonna have to come up with

a better plan than that, Tejan.

You shoot him, we shoot you,

and you both die.

Yes, but if he dies, others like him

will think twice about destroying our country.

Keep him talking.

I'll try to get a clear shot.

None of this is gonna

bring your mother back, though, will it?

What do you know about my mother?

That's where all this started, isn't it?

You and your brother.

This is nothing more

than your thirst for revenge.

Damn it. I don't have a shot.

Stop! He's going over!

24-David to Command. We've got a rabbit,

armed and about to land on Venice.

He's headed for the street.

Hondo, got eyes on your runner.

We got it from here.

26-David, in pursuit of a beige Chrysler going south

on Toberman. License plate

three-Oscar-Echo-Bravo zero-five-eight.

- What's he doing? - I don't know,

but we need to end this before he kills someone.

Down!

Gun!

Hold on!

Nice. You got it when it counts.

LAPD SWAT! Get out of the car!

Hands where I can see 'em!

Don't make me ask again!

Get on the ground now!

On your stomach! Hands behind your back!

Going hands-on.

22-David. Final gunman

in custody.

Keep hearing about what the two of you did in there,

guiding the shooters away from the others.

Running right towards danger

to protect everyone else?

That's pretty gutsy.

I had to do something.

Though, when I saw that gun...

Thanks for showing up when you did.

What did she mean, that other officer,

when she said that none of this would bring his mother back?

His mother was killed on Air India Flight 182.

He blames Sikh separatists.

One of the threats

on that website was from someone claiming

that we had killed his family on that flight.

And then I wrote back

that we weren't even alive back then.

Well, if there's one thing the Internet's taught us,

it's that rage doesn't play well with reason.

Mm-hmm. I'm telling you,

as good as new.

You really came through.

Hey, don't I always?

A few exceptions come to mind.

I got to say, it looks solid.

You sound surprised.

That's 'cause I am.

You sounding hella ungrateful, fool.

Okay, let's go.

Thank you, Leon.

And don't forget,

you still owe me.

Owe you what, exactly?

What do you think?

Help with some sort of, what,

criminal conspiracy?

Or criminal stupidity.

You best check yourself, pretty boy.

What would boss man think

about you having your precious cop car fixed by

a stupidcriminal? Stop.

Look, I was just hoping that

you would come to dinner on Saturday.

Mom's making lasagna,

Judd and Coops will be here. Everyone wants to see you.

Maybe.

Dev, we miss you.

Hell, I miss you.

Everything's just

better when you're around.

So, you coming or not?

I'll let you know.

Just tell him yes.

Hey.

Great.

Your ass is not invited.

Heartbroken.

I told them the site could stir trouble,

but I never expected this.

Well, maybe you refuse next time

someone wants a new website.

For sure.

I don't know what I would have done

if they'd hurt you. I'm sorry, Anu.

Hey, I spent half the day rehearsing my apology to you.

I thought my parents might be behind it.

You said they wouldn't approve, but that's another level.

Hey, after what went down today, who knows?

Maybe they'll have a change of heart.

Maybe, but I don't care.

I'm done sneaking around and pretending.

We'd prefer you didn't also.

We're so sorry about what happened to you today.

We'll let you be.

Thank you again, Sergeant.

You and your whole team.

Sometimes tragedy can make people

do some important rethinking.

Someone's got a spring in her step.

Did you hear back from Thomas?

I called again,

as you suggested, and again.

He just texted. He's still mad,

but he invited me to a rehearsal.

Turns out he's gonna

finish school and then

do the summer dates of the tour he was invited to.

I'm sure that helped ease his anger.

That's great to hear.

Thanks again, Commander.

I think he really liked that I kept trying.

Good, and, Powell.

Despite the millions of books written about it,

there's nothing easy about parenting at any age.

Thank you.

Hey. You busy tonight?

I-I just wondered if you wanted to have a meal

with your old man.

All right, great.

I'll pick something up. I'll see you in a bit.

Mmm.

Oh, that tastes so good.

That tastes so good. Can I taste your broccoli?

Can I taste your broccoli?

Hey, ladies.

Hey.

Baby girl.

I missed you.

Come here, you.

Ah, Daddy missed you

all day. Mmm.

So...

you still mad?

No, I'm mostly over that.

Now I'm more just...

lost and a little down.

What do you mean?

What you said today about Vivie

and not being willing to compromise.

I mean, Hondo, she's not even two yet.

There are so many decisions we'll have to make for her

over the next 20 years.

How does that work if you're not willing to compromise?

I just meant that I only want

what I think is best for her.

Okay, but when you say that, it sounds like

you don't think I want what's best for her.

Of course not.

That was never in doubt.

So, what do we do with day care

and the next 20 years?

I'm not trying to tackle the next 20 years.

I just want to

enjoy right here, right now, this time.

Look, we can keep looking

for day care places.

Find a place we both like

that's safe and has plenty of

creative freedom for Vivienne.

Hmm. But surrounded by a barbed-wire fence?

I would never say no to that.

But, hey, listen.

The most important thing

for this little girl's well-being

is two parents who love each other,

surrounded by that same warmth

and security.

I think we can manage that.

Mm.

No doubt. I know we can.

Ain't that right, Viv?

Hmm? Ooh.
