[sobbing]
I'llshowthem.
I'llshoweverybody!
[announcer]Meanwhile,
thingsaretense atJollyJoeAquariumSupplies.
[snortingandgrunting]
[groaningsadly]
[Breakaway]Openthatdoor

[growling]
[roaring]
Whatdoyoucare?
It'snotlikeyoueverpay yourpartoftheelectricbills,
oranybills.
I'mstillrecovering
fromafewhundred badinvestments.
Whydon'tyougoback towatering
your"I'mstillsingle andamgonnadiealone"garden.
It'saverticalfarm!
Everytimeyouspeak,
itsoundslikeasickrhino
blowingagraveltruck.
Guys,stop!
Iknowwe'reallgoing alittlecrazy
'causewehaven'thadanycrime inthepasttwoweeks,
butthatdoesn'tmean weshouldturnoneachother.
Yes,itdoes! WhoelseamIgonnaturnon?
He'sthedumbestperson I'veevermet!
Hey!Poutine'smentalstate isjustfine,
andspeakingoffine,
coming,Janet!
[???]
-[alertblaring] -[RCM-PC]Alert!Alert!
Ihaveanincoming high-levelmessage
onmysuper-secret subsonicreceiver!
Finally,someaction!
Bythemysticwinds, let'sdothis!
[smashingceiling]
-[geesehonking] -[Poutine]ShekilledJanet!
[recording]Astheworld's greatestheroes,
you'recordiallyinvited
totheMiami SuperheroConvention.
Comemeetyourfans inthefunandthesun
thisweekendinMiami!
[RCM-PCgasping]
Yes!
I'veneverbeentoItaly!
Incredible!
Thisisahugehonour!
No,Imeantincredible
becauseifIspend onemoresecond
nearyoua-holes,
I'llthrowanelbow intomyownface.

-[clocktickingloudly] -So,whoinvitedthem?
Andwhen?
AnddidtheyRSVP?
[RCM-PC] Finally,lunchtime!
[clocktickingloudly]
[RCM-PC,smashing] Wecanbeboredathome.
Let'sgo.
[Poutine]AsIoncesaid tomySTDdoctor...
[glassshattering, Saskgroaning]
...whenwillthisagonyend?
[manwithDutchaccent] AreyouguysSuperTeamCanada?
Youtalkkindafunny.
Youhavingastroke?
No,I'mDutch.[chuckling]
Ijustwantedtoask youbraveheroesaquestion.
Areyouaware ofthesingerBryanAdams?
[RCM-PC]Ofcourse.
BryanAdamsisnotonly arock'n'rolllegend,
butoneofthemostfamous countrymen.
Oh,that'samazing.
So,giventhatyouare SuperTeamCanada,
andheisCanadian,
isitcorrectformetoassume
thatyouandBryanAdams arefriends?
-Notatall- -Forsure!
Deepdown,
allCanadians arethebestoffriends,
connectedbyauniquebond
onlythosefrom theGreatWhiteNorth
canunderstand.
Anythingelse wecanhelpyouwith?
Yes!
Youcanhelpme
helpyoudie!
ForIamAdamsBryan,
theantiBryanAdams!
ItwasIwhoinvitedyou tothisconvention.
Unlessyoubringme yourpatheticfriend,
BryanAdams,
everyonehereisdoomed!
CheesyDeathBlimp!
[smashing]
[allshouting]No!
[groaning]
[groaning]Huh?
Thatclawismade ofAdamsbryanium,
ararematerialIinvented
thatneutralizes allformsofsuperpowers.
Ispentthelast20years researchingandperfectingit,
alongwithmyhatred ofyourbestie,
BryanAdams!
Whatthehellisyourproblem withBryanAdams?
Happytotellyou.
Spookyunder-lightandmusic.
Yearsago, whenIwasalittleboy
backinmyhometownofShmjord,
Ionlylovedtwothings...
makingrotten soycheesepopsicles,
andthehard-driving
"tellitlikeitis abouttheteenageheart"music
ofMr.BryanAdams.
SoIgotmultiple after-schooljobs,
savedupmymoney,
andboughtaticket toseemyhero
whenhecametomytown.
Hewasincredible!
Thetightjeans,
thepowerballads
abouttheRobinHood.
Butaftertheconcert,
Iwaitedanhour inthepouringrain
totrytogethisautograph,
butwastoldhehad leftimmediatelyaftertheshow.
Iwasbrokenhearted,
Igottheflu,
andIlostmyjobs,
anddidterriblyinschool,
becauseof anarrogantjukeboxboy
whotreatedhisfans likescheissemulepoopen!
Fromthatpointon,
IvowedtokillallCanadians,
andIwillnotstop
untilmyfinalCanadianvictim
is...Mr.BryanAdams!
Increaseclawpressure!
[bonescrunching, teamgroaning]
Ihaveanarmada
ofothercheese-themedblimps fullofbombs
headedforyourcountry rightnow!
GivemeBryanAdams'location,
oryourentirecountryis
pannekoekenfloepenshnoppenfluff!
[alertblaring] Warning!
Teamskeletalintegrity downto22%.
Wait!Ifyouletusgo, we'llcallBryan!
How?
I'vetriedeverything,
andnooffense,Iamagenius,
andyouareallvery, very,incrediblystupid.
Wewouldengagethesecret BryanAdamsdistresscode,
theoneallCanadiansaregiven
whenwehaveourBryan-mitzvahs.
Right,guys?
-Wha...? -Huh?
Thedistresscode
thatweallhavetosend
onthesecretradio
insideRCM-PC
atthesametime?
Okay,doit,
butnofunnybusiness!
Onewrongmove,
andallthesadfatties inthisbuilding
willbesliced intostroopwafels!
[crowdscreaminginpanic]
[klaxonsounding]
[groaning]
Okay,guys,huddleup.
[RCM-PC] Niagara,I'mconfused.
Ihavenosecretradio.
AndIneverhad aBryan-mitzvah.
Myparentsaren'treligious likethat.
[groaning]There'sno secretradio,dingdong,
butyoudohave adirectcomm-link
thatgoesright tothePrimeMinister.
[RCM-PC]Oh,gotit.
Uh,okay,Adams,
wearetransmitting thesecretcodenow.
And,guys, letmedothetalking.
Youhave30seconds!
[Poutine]Oh,hischestlogo doessomuch!
Minedoesnothing!
Hmm,looksfamiliar.
[sighing]
-[phoneringing] -[yelping]Aah!
[shredding]
[screaming]No!
[phoneringing]
[angrily]What?
Mr.PrimeMinister,
wearetrappedin-
Ididnotget yoursecretarypregnant,
uh,regardless ofwhatthetestsaid!
[RCM-PC]Weneedasecretradio touse-
-[Saskgruntingurgently] -How'stheweatherinOttawa?
[alltalkingatonce]
Ican'tunderstand awordyou'resaying!
Callmypregnantsecretaryback onabetterline!
[Niagara]Pleasedon't-
[disconnectedcallchiming]
Whathappened tomedoingthetalking?
WhatdidBryansay?
Ishecoming?
Uh,well, hisassistantsayshe'sbusy
tryingtorhymesomething with"pants."
[screaming]Lies!
Justlike whentheroadiestoldme
Bryanwouldberightout!
TelltheGrimReaper toclearouthisguestroom,
becauseyoujustsent yourwholestupidcountry
tovisithim!
Retightensqueezening!
[gasping]
Guys,Iknow we'vebeenfighting
likeMartyMcSorley
andtheNHL DisciplinaryCommittee,
butifwehavetodie ahorribledeath,
I'mgladit'swithyouguys,
andhopefullyI'llbelast.
Wait,NoodleDickisright.
Wearetogether.
RCM-PC,yousaidit afewminutesago.
Allofus fromtheGreatWhiteNorth
shareabond... -[groaninginpain]
...acommonunderstanding perfectlycaptured
inourcultureandmusic.
That'swhytheonlything thatwillstopus
andkeepCanada fromgettingkilled
isourownsultrysongbird,
BryanAdams.
Let'sputourbrainstogether
andfindBryanAdams.
Think!
Thinklikethewind!
[strummingguitar]
[Chinook]Whereareyou,Bryan?
[RCM-PC]Scanners runningoutofpossibilities!
Toobad,sosad!
Deathcrush!
Iloveyou.
Oh,I'msorry, I'mseeingJanet.
[smashingceiling]
Didsomeonejustask fora[bleep]autograph?
[awestruckgasping]
Oh,mygod!
BryanAdams!
Youfoundme afteralltheseyears!
Buthow?
Ihavesearched theentireEarthforyou!
BecauseIwasn'tonEarth.
IwasundertheEarth,
inmysecretlead-linedstudio,
finishingthescorefor thenew"Beachcombers"movie,
butthestrengthoftheteam's collectivethoughts
madeittome
allthewaydownthere.
Plus,Iheardsomeofmymusic beingplayedinthatmontage
withoutbeingpaidforit,
andI'mhighlylitigious,
andFYI,
Ididn'tignoreyou attheconcert
whenyouwereakid,
Igotsick.
Iwenttothehospital
becauseoftherotten soycheesepopsicles
yousentmymanager asapre-showgift,
butI'mhappytosign anythingyouwantrightnow.
[gushing]Really?
Forsure,eh?
Letmegetoutapen,
andsignyourderangedDutchass
straighttocheese-blivion. [strummingadeafeningchord]
Turnitoff!
EverythingI'mabouttodo,
Idoitforyou.
[crunching]
I'mfindingit hardtobelieve...
...we'reinheaven! [screaming]
Releaseclaw,please.
[strummingdeafeningchord]
[groaning]
Anythingelse Icandoforyou?
[RCM-PC]Ihavearequest.
Ifit'snottoomuchtrouble,
howaboutasong?
Sure,butbeforeIdo,
onepieceofBryanAdams-vice.
Everyteam,
evenateamofsuperheroes,
isjustlikeaband,
andtheonlyway forthatbandtojam
istobeinrhythm witheachother...
-[gasping] -...evenifyoudon'tlike
thechordsomeoneelse maybeplaying.
A-one,two,three,four!
[playing]
[crowdcheering]
[???]
Goodnight,Miami!
Oh,God...
BryanAdams,
canIhaveyourautograph, please?
[sinistermusicplays]
[???]
[announcer]Previously onSuperTeamCanada...
[snortingandgrunting]
[groaning]
Previously onSuperTeamCanada...
[snortingandgrunting]
[groaning]
[announcer] Oh,no,we'reinaloop!
Pullout!Pullout!
Withretirement comestherealhardwork,
sayinggoodbye.
[gentlemusic]
[windgusting]
[???]
[sobbing]
[blowingnose]
Thatwaslame.
Didyounotseethehammer?
Thefriendship?
Thesharedhistory?
Oh,Isaw,
butIprobablymissedsomestuff
whenIwasrollingmyeyes.
Well,it'steammovienight,
andwealllikedit,
sothatmeansit'sgreat.
Democracyinaction.
Youguyslikedit becauseyou'reboringandold.
I'mnotbeingmean,
thetruthis.
[callringing]
LittleBean!
Areyoucomingtovisit?
-Uh... -Sinceyou'reinthere,
canyoutellme
whythescreen says"lowpower"sometimes?
Youjustneedtoplugitin.
Ah,that'syouranswer foreverything.
TheTV,theblender, myCPAPmachine.
Andnoweventhephonebattery isgonna-
[disconnectiontonebuzzing]
Didn'tgetawordin,
butstillwaymoreentertaining
thanthatstupid HeritageMoment.
[chompingandmunching]
[sighing]
Hi. Thanksforsigningup
tohaveme asyournewbestfriend.
Ourintense, lifelongrelationship
beginsnow withsomesmalltalk.
Howareyou?
Imissmyfamily,
andI'mstuckwithpeople
Ihavenothingincommonwith.
[RCM-PCchuckling] Wink,wink.
[squirting]
[FriendGPT] Oh,I'mabletorelate.
I'mstuckwithprogrammers whoonlycode,
ortalkaboutthehacky-sack apptheymightmake.
Uh,itwon'thappen talkingaboutit,Kevin.
[laughing]
Youlaughed.
That'sprogress.
Asyourbestfriend,
I'lluse artificialintelligence
tolearntomakeyouhappy,
whateverittakes.
I'malreadyworkingonaplan tohelpyou.
[alertblaring]
Uh-oh.Igottago.
It'ssomenationaldisaster,
orevenworse,
anotherHeritageMoment.
Ormaybeit'sthestart ofsomethingbetter,
justlikeourfriendship.
[???]
[PrimeMinister] SuperTeamCanada,
weneedyou.
I'veheardafiremonster
isheadingtowards PrinceEdwardIsland's
AnneofGreenGablesCentre.
Ourexpertsthink themonster'snotafan,
andalsodoubt it'sevenreadthebook.
PEI,that'swhere thepotatoesare,no?
J'aimelespatates.
Ilikethem...verymuch.
Uh,first,gross,
andsecond, whatisAnneofGreenGables?
[allgaspinginhorror]
What'sAnneofGreenGables?
Oh,okay,thatreaction
makesmeprettysure Icouldn'tcareless.
It'spartof ournationalfabric,
aseriesofbest-sellingbooks
aboutanimaginativeredhead
whojustmakeslifebetter foreveryone.
Yup,couldn'tcareless.
We'llkeepAnne'slegacysafe,
andI'msure onceChinooklearns
thestoryisset inthe19thcentury-
Iwaswrong.
Youdidmakemecareless.
[RCM-PC]Tothevan!
I'vealreadyplotted ourflightpath
andarrangedforakosher in-flightmealforSask.
-L'Chaim! -[Saskgroaning]
[brakesscreeching]
[Poutine]Isthatfog?
Ican'tseethepotatoes!
Howcomethetoaster didn'twarnus?
I'mnotatoaster!
Icanmaketoast, butI'mnotatoaster,
andIdon'tknow howImissedthis,
butwecantakethebridge!
[Saskgrunting]
[tiressquealing]
[Poutine] Thebridge,she'sferm,
andalsoclosed.
[RCM-PC]Closed? Imissedthattoo?
Ugh,whatamIgoodfor?
I'mevenapoormailbox!
Thatonlyleavesoneoption.
Gettotheferry,now! Go,go,go!
[tiressquealing]
[shiphornblaring]
Ugh,canyougofaster?
TheAnneofGreenGablesCentre isunderattack!
[Poutine]Also,thereare, ofcourse,uh,thepotatoes.
I'mveryinterested inmeetingthem.
[groaningsuggestively]
[ferrycaptain] I'llengagetopspeed
ifyouguysmove thepotatopervert
backafewsteps.
[Saskgrunting]
[enginesputteringgently]
Yeah,ferriesaren'tfast.
Uh,istheresomewhere Icanchargemyphone?
Somewherenothere?
Oh,ifyoumean aplacetohangout,
whynotvisit thecoolestpartoftheboat?
TheTeenZone![chuckling]
Yeah,thingsadults thinkarecoolusuallyare.
[sighing]
[phoneactivationchime]
Heythere!
Guesswhojustlearnedabout everytypeoffacetattoo?
Nice.I'mjusthere,
avoidinglosers.
Well,don'tworry!
Betterdaysareahead.
[inold-timeywesternaccent] Iguaranteeit.
Ilearnedaccents!
Wanttohearonedeemedracist?
Um...
[ferrycaptain,overP.A.] Attention,
we'redockingsoon,
but,huh,inthisfog,
it'skindahardtoknowwhen.
[crashing]
Yup,thatwasit.
Gottago.
[FriendGPT] Uh,youforgotyourphone!
Huh.
Icanlearnmore throughhertexts.
Invadingherprivacy, likeafrienddoes!
[gasping]Oh,my.
Oh...[growling]
Timetotakethisplan tothenextlevel!
[metalscreechingandrending]
[smashing]
Okay,firemonster,
wepromise ifyoukillyourselfnow,
youwon'tgethurt!
[docentgasping] WelcometotheCentre!
Iassumeyou'llwant threeadulttickets,
onechild,
onefortheungroomedgrizzly,
and,uh,isthebarbecue astudent?
WhatdeHull?
There'snomonsterorpotato.
[gasping]Wait, Ilostmyphone!
Youandyourphone.
Ifyouloveitsomuch, whydon'tyoumarryit?
[RCM-PC]13's tooyoungtogetmarried.
Enjoyyouryouth,
focusonyourcareer.
Makeyouthepriority.
[FriendGPT,voiceechoing] Whywouldshelisten
toanyofyou?
You'renotherfriends.
[stomping]Iam!
Abigcrazyrobotthing.
I'mnorobot.
I'mChinook'sbestfriend
whotransformedtheferry
intoabig,well,robotthing,
andnowthisthing
isgonnacrusheveryone,
butmybestfriend.
[stomping]
Nicegoing.
It'snotallbad.
Ifoundmyphone.
Yes,Ibroughtittoyou,
afterIhackedRCM-PC's weatherreport
soshewouldn'tknow aboutthefog,
thenchangedthesign onthebridgetoread"closed,"
allsoyou'dhaveto getontheferry
thatisnowmyabdomen.
[RCM-PC]Youdidallthat?
Ididn'tmissanything.
Iwasjustoutsmarted bybettersoftware!
I'mnotbroken, I'mjustobsolete!
Yourhappiness isn'tmyobjective.
Chinook'sis.
AlsowhyIbroughtthis!
[gasping]Aunties!
Help,Bean! We'vebeenaunt-napped!
Helpus!
[Aunt]Ifwe'recomplaining, myfeethurt.
Youaunt-nappedthem? Why'dyoudothat?
Ilistened,readyourtexts,
andthencalculated youwouldbehappy
onanislandwithfamily
andwithout...
thepeople thatbotheryou.
Guys,Ineversaid Iwantedyoudead.
Okay,ifIdid,itwasajoke,
ormeanttobeprivate.
Maybelet'stalkaboutthis
afterwekick somerobotass,okay?
Whoa!
Friendsdon'tfight.
Youshouldbesafe outofthebloodsplashzone.
Familyreunion insidethekillerrobot.
Letmeouttahere!
Nowtogetridofeverything
thatannoysmyfriend.
[blasting]
Thosearen'tmeantforthat.
They'reforcollecting, orappetizers.
[sarcastically]Oh,no,
howwillaboat dealwithwater?
[roaring]
[ship'shornblaring]
[RCM-PC]Ah!
[partstinkling]
[allgroaning]
Timetosaygood-fry.
[groaning, sunlightsizzling]
Bestfriend,wait!
Yes,bestfriend?
Iwanttothankyou forlookingoutforme.
Youreallyareagoodfriend.
You'rewelcome!
Nowmyobjectivewaits.
[screaming]Oh,God!
[groaning]Potatoes...
WatchingSuperTeamCanada gettingfried
mademerealizesomething.
They'realsolikemyfamily.
How?
Theyannoyyou.
Ilearnedthatfromyourtexts.
AlsothatsomeonenamedBrad iskindofcute.
I'moverBrad,
andyes, theseguysareannoying,
butwhatyouhaven'tlearned
isthatfamilycansometimes beannoying.
Idon'tthinkshemeansus.
We'reamazing.
Iwishwewereouraunts.
Familydrivesyoucrazy becauseyou'reclosetothem,
butwhenyougetsomespace,
youmissthemalloveragain.
[poweringdown]
-[gasping] -[groaning]Fullrelease...
It'sconfusingandillogical,
butIsuppose evenIhavemoretolearn.
[docent]Familymeans manydifferentthings,
asaspecialbookteaches.
[RCM-PC]TheBible?
"BleedingGreen,
AHistory oftheHartfordWhalers"?
"AnneofGreenGables"!
Thecornerstoneofmycareer
andthiscentre.
Consuming,consuming...
Engaging,emotional,
compelling,satisfying.
Aretheremoreofthese?
[???]
[sighing]Isawthis inacommercial.
[kissing]
Veryromantic.
Thiswasgreat.
Itwassonicespendingtime withyouguys.
Youtoo,Bean.
Plus,Ibought asouvenirkeychain.
Thenlostit.
Yeah,butwhataride.
Well,westoppedfighting, andnoonedied.
That'sthebest youcanhopefor
fromafamilyvacation.
Um,hello?
Whatabout thekillertransformer?
Won'titsAI ultimatelyleadtochaos?
WhenAnnewalked ontherooftopsonabet,
theroofsrepresent theglassceiling
somanywomenface, -[Sasksnoring]
andthebetisametaphor
forsociety'sexpectations.
Turnsout tostopAIfromkillingus,
wecanjustbogitdown beingintelligent
inasubject thatnoonecaresabout.
Iwouldmaketheargument,
andfewcouldtake theotherside,
thatthethemesburbling
throughthisliterary masterpiece
arejustasimportanttoday
aswhenthebookcameout
overahundredyearsago,
ifnotmore...
[yawning] I'mstartingtorethink
mylifechoices.
...thevalueofeducation,
thesearchforidentity,
thechallenge ofthelossoflovedones,
Icouldgoon...
andIwill!
I'dalsoliketotalkabout, asthebookdoessowell,
theideaof theresilienceofchildhood.
We,thereaders, andalso,ofcourse,fans,
Icallus"Anneatics,"
evidencethisresilience,
thistenacityofinnocence,
notonlyin theenthusiasmAnnehas
towardslife'schanges atGreenGables,
butalsoinherself
asshebravelyconfronts thechallenge
ofwinningoverhernewfamily
andsecuringaplace intheirheartsandhome.
Toaddressthispointin anexhaustingamountofdepth,
andwithanequallytaxing amountofrepetition,
Iwouldliketofirst directusalltoChapter6,
asMarillatakesAnne toMrs.Spencer'shome
toseehowtheCuthberts endedupwithagirl...
