the historic "I Have
a Dream" speech.

The next year he was awarded
the Nobel Peace Prize

for battling racial inequality
through nonviolence.

[gentle anxious music]

He was only 35 years
old at the time.

Youngest man ever to receive
that prestigious award.

Sadly, after all that amazing
work he did for his people

and this country, Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

was assassinated on the
evening of April 4, 1968

while standing on the
balcony of his motel room.

He died a martyr.

because of their beliefs,
