Here we are again.

Talk to me, explain to

the audience what I just saw.

So you saw something

really interesting and unique.

You walked into a world, the story,

that I have immersed

myself into for over two years.

And I grew up with dogs.

I love dogs, I love animals.

But I actually met

individuals, human beings,

that take their love for

their pets to the next level.

And it was truly

humbling and just heartwarming

and incredible to see

the amount of investment

that humans put into their pets.

And through the lens and through

the story of Anthony Rubio,

this Puerto Rican guy from the Bronx,

with humble beginnings,

this incredibly talented fashion designer,

artist visionary,

who realized, like many of us,

artists of color,

realized that there are barriers

in the way, there are

obstacles in the way.

Instead of giving up his dreams

of becoming a world

famous fashion designer,

he found a way

to merge his love for animals,

his commitment to pet advocacy,

and his talents as a designer.

And here we are.

Anthony Rubio is the pet fashion king.

There's no one else

like him in the world.

I was very fortunate to meet him.

I was very fortunate

to be introduced to him

and his story.

Yep.

And, you know, as a filmmaker,

I just wanna tell stories

that are inspiring,

that really resonate

with just a super large audience.

Yeah.

And I gotta tell you,

the reason why I made this film

was when my baby girl,

my seven year old daughter,

said to me, "Dad, you gotta make this

movie about Anthony."

And that was the moment-- She said that.

Yeah, that was the moment that I said,

"All right, I'm gonna do this."

And for me, it was a

very different direction

than some of the work

that I've done in the past.

Yep.

I've produced countless films,

some of which are on HBO,

that really explore like social,

political, heavy hitting,

themes and topics.

So to go from a documentary

about the Chilean Revolution

some years ago, that's now

on Max, called "Primera,"

to the pet fashion king,

has been certainly a really

wonderful transition for me,

because it's a story that I wanna tell

for the entire family,

a story that's uplifting,

a story that's inspiring,

but more so a story

that demonstrates the true love

and connection between

humans and their pets.

Right, it's a love story.

It's a love story.

Really, I love it, I love it.

And one thing that I saw in there,

I saw even how culture, Latino culture,

has crossed over to everywhere,

but including even

the fashion, the pet fashion.

I saw some bad bunny, Chiquita, you know?

So he definitely is influencing,

or making sure that

the Latino culture is felt, so.

Yeah, you know, he's

a boricua from the Bronx, you know?

The story talks about his upbringing

in the housing projects

and, you know,

there's a moment in the film

where he talks about

a tenant in the building

could not have pets,

but they had pets at home.

Their home felt like a zoo in many ways.

They would sneak in, you know, squirrels,

they would sneak in ducks,

and they would sneak

in all these fun creatures

that really helped

his love and affinity for animals

really blossom and grow.

And fast forward many years later,

as a struggling designer,

a struggling artist,

when he realized that

as a Puerto Rican designer,

there were really no access points

in this super large and saturated

industry here in New York,

wasn't until he put a dress

on a dog that he got attention.

And he ran with it.

And, you know, I said this before,

that we are telling

the story of Anthony Rubio

and a beautiful little rescue

that he found chained up

in Brooklyn,

this beautiful chihuahua named Bandit

that changed his life forever.

So I always tell folks

that the reason why we're here

is because of this tiny little chihuahua

that changed his life

and has changed my life

many years later.

I didn't even meet Bandit,

but I tell the story of Bandit

because many years later,

Anthony Rubio has become

the most famous pep

fashion designer in the world.

That was beautiful, that was beautiful.

The way you start is

always by being the first.

The first.

And when you start, you start off strong.

And when you have aspirations

you start off strong

and you take those aspirations

and you make them happen.

And once you're up there,

you keep improving

and you never let your layer,

your laurels down.

You don't relax.

What you do is you look for

bigger and harder things

to fight for.

So like I said before

in Spanish, I'll say it again.
