I'm glad because we may not be husband and wife anymore, but we

need to find a way to coexist. I mean, we have children, we

have grandchildren. Least we could do is try to get

along, maybe even be friends. >> Jennifer: Okay, you

misunderstood me because when I said I came back because of you,

what I meant was I came back because I had to cast my vote

against you. >> Eve: So this is proof of

everything Jack and I have been saying all along that Haley's

marriage is a sham. >> Haley: No, no.

You're wrong. It's not true. >> Eve: Oh, really?

Well, I think we all just heard Tripp admit it here.

>> JJ: Eve, where'd you get that recording?

>> Melinda: You are in public. Are you insane?

If anyone else had a caught you just now, my sister could be

deported. >> Claire: Chill out.

There's no one else here. >> Tripp: And Haley knows that

we still care about each other, but trust me.

Like, we've been very careful. >> Melinda: Then why were you

caught on video? >> Tripp: Wait, what video?

>> Abe: Spoke to Brandon. And needless to say, he's

thrilled his sister's alive. >> Nicole: I think I'm better

[sobs] You know how much I loved Holly.

>> Nicole: Of course. >> Maggie: And you know that I'm

here for you, whatever you want and ever you need.

I'm sure that at a time like this though, you want to lean on

Eric. >> Nicole: Actually, Maggie,

Eric is the last person I want to comfort me.

What happened to Holly is his fault.

>> Eric: The reason why I stopped by--just want to see if

anybody had heard from Nicole. >> Brady: I haven't.

What do you mean she walked out on you?

>> Eric: She blames me. She thinks that I'm the reason

her daughter's dead. >> Brady: [sighs]

No, Eric, she's in shock. She just lost her only child.

She's grieving. You know when people are

grieving they say things out sadness and anger.

Doesn't mean they're true. >> Eric: They are true, Brady!

Nobody understands that better than you.

>> Nicole: I can't understand why Eric didn't protect Holly.

He should have done everything in his power to save her.

>> Maggie: Nicole, listen-- >> Nicole: No, Maggie, I need

you to understand something. When I thought I was gonna die,

when I handed my daughter over because I thought I was never

gonna see her again, one thing that I held on to was that Eric

was gonna raise her and keep her safe.

He swore to me, but he didn't. >> Maggie: Yes, but he had full

intentions of honoring your wish.

See, in the end, he felt that it was best for Holly if she be

raised with Parker. And so that's why he agreed to

let Chloe have custody of her. >> Nicole: But when he knew

about the threat from the cartel, he should've done

everything he could to get Holly out of the DiMera mansion.

Why did he let her stay there? How--I mean, how could you all

not be out of your mind with fear?

What--why didn't somebody do something!?

>> Maggie: Well, actually someone did.

>> Nicole: Who? >> Maggie: Brady.

>> Eric: You know, you asked me over and over and over again

to get Chloe and those kids out of Stefan's house and I did

nothing. >> Brady: Why do you think Holly

was with Chloe in the first place, hm?

That's on me, Eric. I put that whole thing in

motion. If I hadn't blackmailed Nicole

and forced her to leave town out of jealousy,

Chloe would have never had Holly in the first place.

No, you and Nicole would have had Holly, raising her...

>> Eric: Brady, we have been over this already.

>> Brady: That's what it would have been.

>> Eric: You would have done whatever it took to keep Holly

safe. >> Brady: I was--I was also

being selfish, okay? I wanted another shot at Chloe.

I wanted her the hell away from Stefan, so I reached into my bag

of tricks, and instead of controlling myself, I used lies

[clapping] and manipulation and threats.

And I'm not proud of it. You hear me?

>> Tripp: What are you talking about?

>> Melinda: A video of the two of you taken shortly before you

married Haley. You were both in bed at the

Salem Inn talking about how your marriage was gonna be a total

sham. >> Tripp: No, no, no, that's

impossible. >> Melinda: I saw the video with

my own eyes. >> Tripp: Camera? How? Why?

>> Melinda: I assumed it was set up by someone with a vested

interest. >> Eve: Okay, well, come over

here and let me show you how this camera works.

Here's the camera right there. You're gonna push that button

to start recording, and then as soon as Tripp tells you that

he's marrying Haley just to fool immigration, then you'll push

"Stop" and it'll go straight to my camera--my phone.

>> Claire: Okay, okay, I got it. Get out of here! Go!

>> Eve: Okay, all right. Got it. Purse.

All right, good luck. >> Tripp: Okay, so who was it?

Who made the video? >> Jack: You really came all the

way back from Europe just to vote against me?

>> Jennifer: I came back to cast my vote for Abe.

>> Jack: Contrary to popular belief, Abe Carver is no saint.

>> Jennifer: None of us is, Jack.

And I understand that politics is a dirty business, but you

really crossed the line when you used those photos to smear Abe

at the final debate. >> Jack: I needed to expose him

for the man he really is. >> Jennifer: No, what you needed

was a bump in the polls, but don't you underestimate these

voters because they saw right through your stunt, Jack.

>> Jack: It was not a stunt. It was proof.

It was proof that Abe is a hypocrite with no integrity.

The only reason voters are turning against me is because JJ

brought up the--my history with Kayla.

But that was so long ago. You know I act--I went to Kayla.

I went to her and I asked her to please put out a statement.

Just put out a statement. >> Jennifer: What?

And say what? That you didn't rape her, Jack?

>> Jack: No, of course not. I asked her simply to tell the

truth--that she forgave me and she refused, so I don't know,

so it's one-- >> Jennifer: This is amazing

that you are now angry with the woman that you sexually

assaulted because she couldn't save your campaign?

That is victim blaming. >> Jack: No, of course not.

I asked her to please help me. When she reminded me of what I

did, what happened, she told me that she had gotten past it,

that she forgave me, and you forgave me too.

You forgave me. You said that I paid my debt to

society, I had got to therapy, I worked.

You know, I was even able to help you when I found out that

you were raped. And now, honestly, can you tell

me--can you tell me honestly that I shouldn't be mayor

because--because of this-- >> Jennifer: I can tell you so

many reasons why you shouldn't be mayor, and at the top of the

list is your wife. >> Eve: You had to know we were

keeping tabs on you. I mean, Jack's whole campaign is

built on immigration issue. >> JJ: Tell me about the

recording. >> Eve: Well, it was made right

before the wedding. We were just waiting for the

perfect opportunity to catch you or your "husband," you know,

proving what we already knew. And, of course, Tripp just gave

it to us. >> Haley: Please.

Please, you can't release that recording.

I'll be deported and Tripp will be arrested.

>> Eve: Easy now, all right? There's no reason for us to go

public with it. >> JJ: Why not?

>> Eve: Well, because Haley here is gonna tell everyone the truth

herself.

>> Eve: So here is what is going to happen.

You're gonna come forward. You're gonna admit that you

seduced Tripp for the sole purpose of getting your green

card. Of course, yeah, you will get in

a whole lot of trouble for that, but Tripp won't.

And I know that you'll wanna protect him since he did so much

to help you. >> JJ: Since when do you care

what happens to Tripp? >> Eve: Dang, you gonna give me

a hard time 'cause I'm trying to keep your cousin out of jail,

JJ? >> JJ: You don't give a damn

about him, so there's got to be some other reason you wanna keep

him out of this. I wanna know what it is.

>> Melinda: I assume Jack and Eve made the video.

They've been gunning for Haley from the start, thinking their

"tough" stance on immigration would bring in votes.

>> Tripp: Yeah, but if they had that video to begin with, then

why didn't they just go public with it right away?

>> Melinda: Oh, they tried to. You remember that big campaign

rally they held a few weeks ago? They had a huge crowd assembled

in the square, waiting for some big announcement.

That's when they were planning to play the video.

>> Claire: Right, but it malfunctioned and nothing came

up on the screen. >> Melinda: And so they switched

gears on the fly and made it an "All-American" wedding instead.

>> Tripp: Yeah, I still don't get it though.

Like, if--if Jack and Eve did this, how would they even know

to plant the camera? >> Claire: Okay, well, they do

live at the Salem Inn, so maybe they caught wind of the fact

that we booked a room there? >> Tripp: Yeah, no, we were so

careful. >> Melinda: Not careful enough.

I mean, luckily, I found out about it.

>> Tripp: How? >> Melinda: Well, I knew how

viciously Jack and Eve were going after my little sister.

When they said they had a big announcement coming up, I got

nervous. I broke into their room, found

the video, and I erased it. >> Tripp: Wow.

I never thought you'd go that far to protect Haley.

You told her that she was on her own.

>> Melinda: She's my family. I had to do something.

I know from personal experience that Jack and Eve will stop at

nothing to win this election. >> Jack: So you think the reason

I shouldn't be mayor is because you hate my wife?

I mean, talk about vindictive. >> Jennifer: No, I just think

that Eve is one of the many reasons why I don't think you

should be mayor, Jack. >> Abe: Excuse me.

I just wanted to thank Jennifer for her support.

>> Jennifer: It's totally my pleasure, Abe.

>> Abe: As I'm sure you're well aware, I'm still in the race,

Jack. Even though you and Eve have

thrown everything, every trick in the book at me.

>> Jack: Well, not every trick, Abe.

And I wouldn't count me out just yet either.

>> Eric: Nicole's dying wish was for me to take care of her

daughter. I promised that I would do that,

and I didn't. I didn't even have the courage

to fight for custody. >> Eric: You were going to.

But in the end, you realized that a long, ugly court battle,

that wasn't gonna be good for Holly.

You did the right thing there. >> Eric: Did I?

>> Brady: Yeah. >> Eric: Or was I a coward?

Did I pay for what I did to Daniel?

Is that why I decided to give Holly over to Chloe?

And now that sweet, innocent... She's gone.

And now I've lost Nicole too, so maybe I am

the only one to blame.

>> Nicole: Brady was the one who spoke up?

>> Maggie: Yes. In the beginning, he was adamant

that Chloe and the kids not move in with Stefan.

And he-- He wanted me to convince Chloe

that they would be safer at our house, and he was livid when I

wouldn't do it. >> Nicole: I'm just

so stunned that Brady was the voice of reason.

>> Maggie: Yeah. >> Nicole: 'Cause everyone let

me down, Maggie, especially Eric.

[coughing] I mean, can you explain to me

what--[coughs] Just tell me--

I'm sorry, do you mind? Maggie.

This is vodka.

>> Eve: We're not going to turn Tripp in because Tripp is Jack's

nephew. >> JJ: Please.

The first time my dad met Tripp, he played him.

And since then, the campaign has been attacking him nonstop.

In this narrative of yours, that's Tripp in the recording,

incriminating himself. >> Eve: Well, and Claire.

You know, this recording implicates Claire as well.

I mean, do you really want to take her down, JJ?

I mean, I'm sure you don't, Haley.

Claire's been nothing but supportive.

>> Haley: No. No, of course I don't want to

hurt Claire or Tripp. They've done so much for me.

>> Eve: Well, then you need to come clean immediately.

>> Haley: But if I do, I'll be-- I'll be deported.

>> JJ: What is this for? More votes?

It's too late for that. It's Election Day.

My dad is going to lose. You'd be doing this for no

reason. >> Eve: Well, the polls don't

close until 9:00 p.m. There is still time to turn this

around after the damage you did by dredging up Jack's past with

Kayla. So here's what I'm gonna do.

I'm gonna call a press conference.

I expect you to be in the square shortly.

Otherwise, I will release this recording, and we'll let the

chips fall where they may.

[soft dramatic music]

>> Brady: You didn't lose Nicole.

You just got her back. >> Eric: She wants nothing to do

with me. >> Brady: Eric, she's just

angry. She's angry. She's hurt.

She knows that you loved Holly. She knows that you would have

done anything for her, including fight for her in court.

I can attest to that. So can Maggie.

I think you need to talk to her some more.

>> Eric: I tried. >> Brady: And what did she do?

She lashed out at you, right? She probably said some really,

really harsh things. You know why she said those

things to you? 'Cause she could.

You're closer to her than anyone in the world.

You are the one guy that she knew that she could express

herself to. All that grief and all that

anger because she knew that you would never abandon her

or judge her. All you would do is keep loving

her. No matter what.

And that's the truth.

>> Nicole: Maggie. Are you drinking again?

>> Maggie: No. [sobs]

I'm just so upset about Holly that in a moment of weakness

I ordered--ordered it. I wish I could say for sure

that I wouldn't have taken a sip.

It's so hard. >> Nicole: I know.

>> Maggie: [weeping] >> Nicole: Should you go to a

meeting? >> Maggie: Mm-mm.

it may be too little too late. Besides, every other stunt you

pulled has blown up in your face.

>> Jennifer: Hmm, so true. >> Eve: Oh! I thought you left

the country. I guess it was too much to hope

for a permanent relocation. Hm.

Jack, can I talk to you in private, please?

Thank you. >> Abe: Should I be worried?

>> Jennifer: Abe, I know that the voters are smart enough to

see them for the shameless opportunists that they are.

But with the two of them, I don't know.

I think you should always be worried.

>> Haley: JJ. The clock is ticking.

I need to make a decision. >> JJ: Don't do it.

Haley. Don't let them win.

>> Haley: What are you saying? You think I should blow off Eve?

>> JJ: No, I think that you should let this play out.

>> Haley: And let her go public with that recording?

JJ, my life is about to blow up and I can't let Tripp or Claire

be collateral damage, especially--especially after

what they've done for me. So I'm gonna have to do whatever

it takes to protect them. >> JJ: If you do, you'll be

deported. Look, I don't want that to

happen. >> Haley: I know.

I know, me either, JJ, but I don't have a choice.

>> JJ: Haley. Really think about this.

>> Tripp: What is all of this?

[footsteps approaching] >> Abe: I'm already in a fight.

I don't want to have another. >> Melinda: Neither do I.

I actually came over to thank you.

We were fierce competitors in the mayor's race, but that never

stopped you from speaking out in support of my sister.

And I truly appreciate that. >> Abe: Well, I meant what I

said. She deserves to live in peace.

>> Melinda: I don't know if voters even care what I think

anymore, but for what it's worth, I have thrown my full

weight behind you. [both muttering]

>> Jack: [clears throat] H-Hello. Hello, everybody.

Hello, may I have your attention please?

It's all very exciting, isn't it?

Election Day is finally here! [laughs] Well, you know the

polls are still open. So I hope everybody takes this

opportunity to go and vote because every vote counts.

[both chuckle] >> Eve: [softly] I do not see

Haley anywhere. >> Jack: Um, should we wait?

>> Eve: No, I don't want to. Thank you, Salemites!

How is everyone today? Happy voting day!

>> Jack: Yes! >> Eve: First of all, I just

want to start by thanking all of you.

My husband and I want to sincerely thank you for being

with us from the beginning, and for those of you who haven't

decided who you want to vote for yet, I want you to know that

we have a very special announcement to make.

>> Jack: We do. >> both: Yes, we do.

[camera shutter clicking]

>> Maggie: It's so sweet of you to bring me home.

>> Jack: [laughs] You know, I think there's actually someone

who can probably say this much better than we can.

Uh, Ms. Chen--or should I say, Mrs. Dalton, please, come on

Right here. >> Melinda: Haley, what are you

doing? >> Haley: What I have to do.

[tense music]

>> Brady: I'm sorry about Holly. >> Nicole: Thank you.

>> Eric: I've been worried too. You didn't come back home last

night. >> Nicole: I went to the Salem

Inn. I needed to be alone.

I just spoke to Maggie. And she told me that you are the

only person--the only person who fought hard to protect Holly,

and I just wanted to come here and thank you.

It means so much to me that someone had the good sense to

look after my daughter. Seems like you were alone in

your efforts. >> Eric: We all loved Holly.

We all tried to keep her safe, especially Eric.

>> Nicole: No, it wasn't enough! It wasn't enough.

>> Eric: Listen, I know you're hurting.

So am I. I came here looking for you, so

please, if we can just go some place quiet so we can

talk.

>> Nicole: I'm not going anywhere with you.

>> Eric: Nicole, I'm begging you.

[camera shutter clicks] >> Tripp: Hey, do you know

what's going on here? >> Haley: Today is Election Day.

A chance for everyone to make their voice heard.

But before you vote, you should all have the facts.

I came to this country from China when I was 13 years old.

I didn't speak the language, had no friends,

hardly any family. But despite all the obstacles I

had to overcome, I had this feeling inside me.

This strange mix of excitement and optimism, which I now

realize was hope. Because everywhere I looked,

there was opportunity. A chance to grow, to learn,

to connect. And when I was scared or unsure

there were people--kind, generous people willing to help

me. I went to school here.

Got my nursing degree, and found work that is meaningful

and fulfilling in ways I never could've imagined.

I love this country. And I love Salem.

It's my home. And words cannot express how

grateful I am for what so many wonderful people here have done

for me. Through my profession, I'd hoped

that in some small way, I could give back to the community that

has welcomed me with opened arms.

Most of you have been forgiving of my mistakes.

Most of you still accept me. But not everyone.

As you know, for some time now, Jack Deveraux has been insisting

that my marriage to Tripp Dalton is fake.

That I broke the law to stay in this country.

And the truth is, he's right.

[crowd muttering] >> Eve: [inaudible]

[dramatic music]

>> Eric: I know your heart is broken.

Seeing the disappointment in your eyes.

I know you hate me. I hate myself, and I'm not

asking you for forgiveness or to stop hating me.

I'm just asking you to talk to me.

>> Nicole: No. >> Eric: Please don't shut me

out, not now. Just tell me what you need, what

you want. >> Nicole: The only thing I need

from you right now, Eric, is for you to leave.

[solemn music]

[indistinct chatter] >> Haley: This charade has taken

a terrible toll on everyone I care about.

And that has to end now. It's time for me to be honest

with each and every one of you and admit that my marriage is a

fraud. But let me be clear.

My husband, Tripp Dalton, is completely innocent.

I lied to him. I used him.

And convinced him that my feelings for him were real.

Tripp is the victim here. He had no idea that I only

pretended to love him so I wouldn't get deported.

I did this out of desperation because, as I've already told

you, I love this country so much.

But Tripp is a wonderful, amazing person who deserves much

better than me, and I can't allow him or anyone else to

suffer because of my actions. I can't continue to let anyone

else pay the price when I'm the one who deserves to be punished.

The person--the only person here to blame for everything that's

happened is me. And I'm ready to face the

consequences. [indistinct chatter]

[soft dramatic music]

>> Brady: Nicole, Eric showed up here, out of his mind with

worry. All he wants to do is be here

for you. You need each other right now.

The man is devastated right now. >> Nicole: I don't care how

devastated he is, and don't you dare defend him.

>> Brady: You just need to know--
