- This little spook show was three weeks

behind schedule already.

We haven't even started the underwater stuff.

Is this monster costume gonna work out okay?

- Yeah it works good, just when I get a scratch.

We start shooting the underwater scenes next Monday.

Where is that location again, Eddy?

- In Coral Key.

I just talked to Porter Ricks, the chief ranger out there,

and we have a OK to shoot, and it's a beautiful place.

- As far as I'm concerned, it's all one great big

saltwater Siberian.

- Yes., sir

- Oh, Ella, you better get over to that pink and red,

what is that?

- Coral, sir, Coral Key.

- Yeah, get over there and start practicing.

You swim like a weight-lifter.

- I've been working on that for two weeks now.

- Never mind, my soggy Cinderella.

This is your good fortune, not mine.

- Oh, does he have to be so rude?

- Oh, honey, don't worry about him.

He's just a little guy that thinks he's big.

- What's a matter, Bud?

- Oh, it's Flipper.

He acts like he's never even seen a movie star before.

- Oh, I don't think Flipper knows she's a movie star.

I think he likes her because she's a nice person,

same as we all do.

You like her too, don't you?

- Well, sort of.

- You liked her yesterday.

- Well that was yesterday.

- Oh?

- Golly, will you look at that?

- Give me your paw, give me your hand.

- That's sickening, isn't it?

- Gosh, yes.

I just don't know what's gotten into Flipper.

He won't even come to me.

- Okay, here we go.

- Well, maybe Flipper's in love.

- See, he brought you a corsage.

- Oh, thank you, Flipper.

- Gosh, Miss Ella, I never saw Flipper take to anybody

like he takes to you.

- Why don't you join 'em, Bud?

You know who's the only one that came near me?

- Bud, I think you're jealous.

And, son, that's not so good.

I've seen a lot of trouble caused by people being jealous.

- Well, Dad, who's dolphin is Flipper, anyway?

- Well, he's yours and Sandy's, but that's not the point.

It isn't what jealousy can sometimes do to other people,

that's bad enough.

The worst part about jealousy is what it can do to you.

- Well, how can anybody just stand there and not,

well, it's bad enough when Sandy becomes a puddle of mush.

I know that happens when people get old.

- Like Sandy?

- Yeah.

- But you'd think Flipper would know better.

- Come on in, Bud.

- Have you heard anything from Mr. Lucius?

- Yes, I just talked to him.

That's why I came down.

He said the whole company will be in here by tomorrow.

I told him I thought you were doing very well.

- He indicated he was very pleased.

- I'll bet.

- Well, anyway, he grunted.

Now look, don't worry about a thing.

Everything down here is gonna go just fine.

- Well I sure hope so.

- Dad, I just don't see what Flipper sees in girls, anyway.

Gee, at school, the worst thing a teacher can do to you

if you're bad is make you sit between two girls.

- Here, Bud, if you really want Flipper.

- Well alright, Flipper.

- Our monster has his throat mic?

- Yes, boss.

As long as we're at sail, I wanna be authentic.

Wait a minute, where's that chief of police?

- Chief Park Ranger, sir?

- He's out there, Skipper, so he can watch for any boats

that might come into your camera line.

- No, Dad, he's still some place bottom scratching, I guess.

He didn't answer the auto horn.

- Nah, I think he's out looking for some more fish

for that ole girl.

- I told you I wanted him in his pen

first thing this morning.

Now you two go find him right now.

- Okay, Pop-

- That's great.

- Oh, oh no!

- Help, Eddy! Monte! A shark!

- Get a shotgun!

- Where did he go?

- I don't know.

- We gave you permission to shoot here with cameras,

not rifles.

What the devil's the matter with you?

Can't you tell a dolphin from a shark?

- I don't care whether it's a dolphin,

a shark, a barracuda, or a pink perfume pelican.

I can't afford to stand around here all day,

let some crazy fish delay me anymore

than I've been delayed already.

- You got a permit to shoot a motion picture here

for ten days.

That permit doesn't suspend any of the other regulations

in this park.

Including the one about firearms.

I'm confiscating this rifle, and it stays confiscated.

I'll let you in on something else,

that crazy fish happens to be a family pet named Flipper.

- Maybe I was a little hasty.

But one thing for certain, if that fish shows up here

once more while we're shooting,

we're getting out of here quick.

We'll go some other place.

- That wouldn't break my heart.

- Listen, mister, you're headquarters

wouldn't like that one bit.

They happen to think this place could use some publicity.

- Mr. Lucius, for your entire stay here,

that dolphin will be confined to its pen.

I'll guarantee its good manners and its good behavior.

I hope somebody can guarantee yours.

- Okay, we'll print it.

Bring him in for a while, Eddy.

- Yes, sir.

- Pres, let the ranger know.

Guess if you hadn't gotten so gushy over that ole girl.

Now you gotta stay in this ole jail for ten whole days.

And me too, just to make sure you don't get out.

Oh, I know all's I'd have to do is pull on this old rope,

gate would open and out you'd go.

Anyway, you heard what that man said.

You show up there once more,

and they'd all go someplace else.

Including that girl that you're so stoked over.

you wouldn't have to stay in this pen anymore.

And things would be right back to where they oughtta be.

'Cause if I did, Dad would just tan my hide.

But, if I did, I'd be doing everybody a favor,

including Dad.

I'm not gonna pull on this rope, I'm just not.

Oh, well, it was sort of an accident.

- All set to go again?

- Yeah, Skipper.

- Hurry down. Don's down there waiting.

- Uh oh!

- That tears it.

That dolphin's back again.

You know how to use this thing?

Well use it.

- You can't do that.

Why, that could kill Flipper.

- Listen, my moldy mermaid, I'm merely making certain

he won't bother us again.

- Why you're a bigger monster than that monster.

- Miss Bailey, considering you're not much more

than a super stand-in, you still can be replaced.

- I think the monster's gonna get a good shot at him.

- Red flare, Dad.

- Down there!

- Don's been hit.

- Mr. Ricks, you gotta go down again.

Don's been hit.

- Look at Flipper, Bud.

- Hey, Miss Ella, guess what.

For the first time today I could ride my bicycle.

- Oh, well what's so unusual about that?

- Well, you see, it was the first time since, you know what.

- Oh

- Guess what.

I could even ride on the seat.

- Gee, Dad, don't you think Bud's done enough?

- Well, not until he's learned something from all of this.

Well, son, have you?

- Well, one thing I've learned, Dad,

there's lots of different kinds of monsters,

much worse than the one Flipper wanted to fight,

including the green eyed monster.

He's just about the worst one there is.

- I guess you did learn something.

That's what they call jealousy alright,

the green eyed monster.

- But, Porter, there isn't anymore jealousy, is there, Bud?

- Besides, Flipper and you were friends.

You saved his life.

- Then Flipper saved mine.

- I'm sorry, Mr. Ricks.

I've come over to see if I could make amends

before I leave.

And because I know I owe everybody an apology,

including you, Ella.

- Thank you.

- And Flipper, too?

- And Flipper, too.

- Oh, boy.
