Welcome to our last introduction lesson.

But before going any further with the course,

I wanted to address one common problem that

I also had when I just started out

using the flash.

Apart from not knowing how to set up

my flash properly, I also had no idea

how to set up my camera when it's

paired with flash.

The thing is that when we're not using

the flash and we have our camera in

fully manual mode, we just have to set

up the shutter speed, the aperture, ISO and

white balance, right?

And so I thought I was supposed to

do the same or more or less the

same when I use the flash.

But what actually happened is that the moment

I would turn on the flash and I

did a test shot, I'd get a fully

blown out photo, fully overexposed photo, and I

had no idea what to do next.

So then I tried making the shutter speed

faster, but I found it stuck at 1

to 200.

And after that, I would try to tone

down the strength of the flash, but it

was in TTL mode and I didn't even

know what it meant.

I remember how at this point I would

just start questioning whether I should have even

bothered taking this thing out of my bag.

So I would just elegantly slide it back

where it was and keep shooting with what

was left of available light out there.

Well, to bridge this gap, we have to

know our way around all the flash settings

and we have also to know how to

set up our camera properly when paired with

flash.

So in the next few lessons, we will

firstly focus on the flash, covering everything about

the right flash output settings, understanding all the

functions and the idea behind different positioning of

the flash.

And then in the second part of this

first part of the course, we will focus

on the main camera settings and how their

nature changes the moment we attach the flash

on the hot shoe or the trigger on

the hot shoe.

Yes, the camera will start behaving differently when

we put the flash on it.

So even though you might think that you

know everything about the camera settings, please bear

with me and don't skip this first part.

The flash makes camera behave differently and we

have to understand how they work together, not

just apart.

That's why we will go through each camera

setting like shutter speed, aperture, ISO settings and

we will see what each does when paired

with flash.

And then we will cover some bonus topics

about flash modifiers and how you can make

quick fixes to natural light using flash.

And after learning all the basics, we will

go to the second part of the course

where you will be able to see our

signature flash formula and learn through examples our

seven main looks that we create with flash

on most of our weddings.

So now that you know what to expect

in the following lessons, we're ready to dive

in.
