Madam.

There's nowhere to hide it.

Yes. We can't hide it.

Go.

Paste it on for me.

The more obvious it is, the better.

Let's go.

I remember now.

Madam asked me to hide this

for you.

(His Majesty won't treat me badly.)

(The disaster is due to the seawall.)

(Many are involved in this corruption.)

What happened back then?

This letter

was written on a painting originally.

Madam.

Madam.

Madam.

You've received a letter from the Duke of Ding.

(To: Huisun, My Beloved Sister)

My brother is playing this hidden message game with me again.

Get me a brush

with some tea for me to dip in.

Don't worry.

His Majesty won't treat me badly in the Capital City.

The disaster caused by the hurricane in Futing is due to the seawall.

Many are involved in this corruption.

I'll take this up to His Majesty.

(Mu Chuan, Dou Shishu, Song Yichun, Dou Shiying)

Madam.

Why did you cough up blood?

Qi Xia.

Dry this painting for me.

Don't give it to anyone.

Don't tell anybody about this.

Except for Lord Song.

Yes, Madam.

Go now.

Where should I hide it?

Madam.

Where should I hide it?

There's nowhere to hide it.

Qi Xia.

Paste it on for me.

The more obvious it is, the better.

Don't worry, Madam.

I'll hand it over to Lord Song.

Go now.

Okay.

Father.

How can you do this?

She is my mother.

She is not your mother.

Me, you and Shuyao

are the true family.

Now,

your mother has suffered so many years because of me.

I don't want to let her suffer anymore.

(Song Yichun, Dou Shiying)

We know the truth now.

With this list in our hands,

Lord Qing's life is in our hands too.

He touched the foundation of the country.

We have solid evidence against him.

His Majesty is a wise emperor.

His Majesty is in failing health.

Will he end up like the Duke of Ding?

Besides, too many people are involved in this.

We don't know how it'll turn out.

Why is my father's name on this list?

My Fifth Uncle is Lord Qing's accomplice.

Is he trying to drag my father down with him?

=Blossom= (Adapted from the novel "Blossom" by Zhi Zhi)

=Episode 31=

(Dou's Residence)

Why are you back?

Why didn't you tell me in advance?

Wait.

Gao Sheng.

Make a pot of tea with my newly acquired Longjing tea.

Yes, Master.

Leave us.

No need to serve us.

I have things to tell you too.

Gao Sheng.

Seventh Master.

(Buyer: Dou Shiying)

Father.

The mansions that you are looking at

are quite costly.

I bought these mansions

as safety nets for you.

Not long ago, I got some extra money.

I invested in the Capital's new Yunfei Silverhouse.

Their profit margin is amazing.

Using the profit from Yunfei Silverhouse to pay for the house installment

is just nice.

I know all the jewelers

in the capital.

Why have I never heard about Yunfei Silverhouse?

Father.

You are a naive and easily swayed man.

Don't simply invest in something.

I don't want you to lose all your savings

for some meager profits.

I'm at the Ministry of Revenue after all.

I've looked at their accounts.

The Silverhouse has great craftsmanship.

It has many customers.

Official Mu introduced us to that shop.

Shishu and I have invested some money into it.

It's a profitable business.

Lord Song.

I've found out about everything.

The one who's running the Silverhouse

is the Duke of Jing's family, the Zhang family.

Who else

in the capital has invested in it?

The staff there refuses to reveal anything.

I've asked the people around.

Those who visit the place

are mostly high-ranking ministers and officials.

The Zhang family is wealthy.

They spent tens of thousands of taels just to renovate their yard.

With him running the place,

I'm sure it's safe since many of us

are the investors too.

You are at the Ministry of Revenue.

I'm sure you know the condition of the court right now.

The annual tax revenue is three million taels of silver.

But the expenditure is six million taels of silver.

The court is losing money

and the people are having a hard time.

So, how could the Zhang family spend tens of thousands of taels so easily?

What's the salary of the Duke of Jing?

What makes them so wealthy?

Maybe

he has some side businesses going on.

He's making money with money.

Public and private money

are different.

Father.

The Zhang family is Her Majesty's birth family.

Their family comes from the horse market in Liaodong.

Lord Qing and His Highness are against each other now.

They are using those profits to bring those ministers to their side.

How can you put them together?

Business is business.

The court is the court.

The Duke of Jing has never cared about political matters.

Do you really think that they are not related?

Let me ask you.

Did you sign your name when you invested

in the Silverhouse?

It's very clear that Lord Qing is going to fight for the crown.

By signing a contract with him,

you are bound to him now.

No matter what he does in the future,

you can only support him

or act ignorance.

I'm not trying to gang up with anyone.

Fifth Uncle is already a member of their gang.

That's why he dragged you into this.

He wants to use your relationship with Yantang

to drag him down too

by forcing him to follow their orders.

Fighting for the crown and forming gangs.

Our entire family will be in danger if we are tied to these matters.

No.

I need to get out of this business.

Father.

Let me do it for you.

I'll go to the Silverhouse now.

Ms. Longevity.

Yantang.

What should we do now?

How about I take a leave

or resign?

Father-in-law.

Even if you resign,

you'll still be Ms. Longevity's father

and my father-in-law.

I promised Ms. Longevity that I'll protect her family.

Their target is me.

I'll take care of this.

Summon the secret guards.

Your Lordship.

Lord Qing and the others are investigating our men now.

What if they trap us all?

If he really wants to set up traps in the Capital City,

he can never control who's the hunter

and who's the prey.

Secret guards?

(Yunfei Silverhouse)

Mr. Wang.

- Welcome. - Okay.

- Welcome. - Come.

Come.

Take care.

Duchess of Ying.

Our Ladyship is here to propose a business to your owner.

Please notify Madam Wei about it.

I'm an impatient woman with a bad temper.

She better come here quickly.

Otherwise, if I make a scene here,

it'll affect your business.

I'll inform our owner about it right away.

Feel free to shop around.

Take a look.

Your Ladyship.

Please follow me.

I'll pay ten times the price of the capital

that my father invested plus the interest.

We can negotiate on the customer base of the Miao family's shop

as well as the craftsmen of the Zhaowen Bookstore.

In exchange for the contract my father signed.

I would like to terminate it.

This is

like a windfall deal for you, right?

Your Ladyship.

According to the rules of the Silverhouse,

once the contract is signed,

you can't terminate it

regardless of the profit and loss.

So, the rules of the Silverhouse

is stricter than the law of the country.

You call it an investment.

But it sounds like selling yourself.

Madam Wei has always put profit first.

But you've changed out of the blue.

Looks like the illegal benefits that the Silverhouse is making

is more than what I can offer.

How dare you say that?

What benefits have the ladies

of the Dou family ever given us?

You just continue to feed on the Wei family

and destroy us.

Your father and your uncle are lucky

that we've allowed them to invest in us.

How dare you feel so emboldened to think

that you can terminate the contract on behalf of your father and uncle?

Go ahead and cause a scene here.

I don't believe

that the Shengtian Prison will get you off the hook.

Wei Tingzhen.

I've tried to be courteous first.

I've shown you some respect today.

In the future,

you won't be receiving the same treatment.

In the future?

In the future, when someone else takes over the crown,

you and your husband

will perish.

How can you disrespect me then?

(Official Letter, Commander of the Shadow Guard)

(To be opened at the Northern Pacification Bureau Hall)

They say that it's hard to break the addiction to gambling.

Why do you think it's like that?

Once someone

has experienced the feeling of earning money tenfold

and becoming a wealthy person overnight,

that thrill

is something they can't forget even at the cost of their fingers.

That's what happening at Lord Qing's gambling table.

You can loan money and pay them back with interest.

The more you gamble,

the more money you can make.

I've quit gambling since a long time ago.

I'm afraid

that I can't accept your gift.

Sure.

Something has been stolen from His Highness's residence today.

And the culprit is caught red-handed.

What should we do now?

Lord Qing has written a letter

to recommend you as the Pacification envoy.

Will Song Mo save you?

Even if you are not willing to join us,

there will be more

who are willing.

Another thing,

don't forget about Miss Zhao.

Dou Shishu asked Zou Er to deliver an invitation card

to meet you at the Silverhouse

at midnight tomorrow to discuss

about the business contract.

Our men are ready.

Dou Shishu is a ruthless

and selfish man.

He won't hand over the signed contract

unless you pledge your loyalty to him.

You should stay away

from this treacherous banquet.

Wait until we find what's behind the Silverhouse.

No.

Lord Qing has already made his stand during the martial arts competition.

He won't give me time to drag this out.

Haven't you realised?

Official Lu's visit has gotten far and few lately.

Other than taking care of you,

Official Lu is only in charge of His Majesty.

Has His Majesty's illness worsened?

The arrow has been nocked.

If I can't become Lord Qing's blade,

I'll become a thorn that he has to get rid of.

- Your Ladyship. - Your Ladyship.

Did you manage to retrieve the contract?

I've gotten something that may be even better than that.

Our weakness is their flaw.

The stars have gone to sleep behind the clouds.

Time to rest.

Midnight has arrived.

Time to close your shops.

Hurry up.

I never thought that I would be

welcomed personally by Official Dou one day.

I thought you wouldn't be here.

Looks like you really care about my brother.

Unfortunately, the way we care about him is different.

Please, a moment.

We do business here.

I need to protect our jewelry here.

Please leave your weapons at the door.

He has received special permission

from His Majesty to carry his sword at all times.

If you think of me as an enemy,

there's no need for us to meet each other here.

This is an important family matter.

I just want to meet you alone

and drink some tea.

Wait for me outside.

Yes.

You've been avoiding me.

So, I have no choice but to trick you here.

Don't blame Official Dou.

This is the path that Official Dou has chosen for himself.

Why should I blame him?

I really have the snow lingzhi.

After your poison has been neutralized,

you can live a long life with your wife and your children.

In the future, we can have the brain from the Dou family

and the brawn from the Duke of Ying.

And the country can be at peace.

Isn't that great?

If I neutralize my poison,

I can't neutralize my grudge.

Across history,

many sacrifices had to be made

before a wise emperor could be crowned.

It's just a path that has to be taken.

It's not a destination.

If it's because of your mother,

I can give you Song Han's head

tomorrow to show

my sincerity.

Your uncle halted my plan.

It's true that Mother and I intend to eliminate him.

However, the Duke of Ding was a meritorious general.

If nothing had occurred

between him and Father,

he wouldn't have ended up this way.

He died because of his blind loyalty.

Shouldn't his departed soul

resent Wang Ge,

me, or Mother?

The twelve imperial gold decrees that summoned Yue Fei back

were issued by Zhao Gou,

not Qin Hui.

Yes.

In front of Yue Fei's statue,

Zhao Gou should kneel and accept criticism.

Even so, Qin Hui would never be able to stand up again.

Song Mo,

His Highness has given you enough respect.

If you still continue to defy him,

you'll die here tonight

for assassinating Lord Qing.

And Ms. Longevity will become a widow.

Can you still take your revenge?

Your Highness, you're good at manipulating people.

However,

wise men

tend to fall into their own traps.

I told you before,

your army is weak.

Song Mo, how dare you

attempt to murder a prince!

Do you know what punishment you will face?

If my revenge were only about taking his life,

I could succeed tonight.

Don't forget

you came here for the agreement.

You forgot that,

not me.

Don't worry.

The agreement in the secret chamber downstairs

will remain intact.

I measured it.

The main hall is sixteen steps long and twelve steps wide.

There are three rooms inside

with six pillars.

I confirmed

the difference between the interior and exterior is one zhang.

There must be a secret chamber.

When you confront Lord Qing,

I'll blow open the outer wall

and retrieve the agreement.

Your Highness!

(Silver Ornament Store)

Your Lordship,

all the agreements are here.

Well done.

Song Mo is insane.

He set off gunpowder in the street

and endangered the people's lives.

He must be executed immediately.

I will hand over all of this

and the Duke of Ding's letter

to His Majesty.

What do you think His Majesty

will decide about your crime of fraternizing?

Jiang Meisun owned a troop in the southeast,

and you intended to blow up the capital.

Everyone bears witness tonight.

The Jiang family

is no longer loyalists.

You don't deserve to mention the Jiang family.

Your Lordship.

Song Mo attempted to assassinate me.

Whoever kills him

will earn the greatest reward.

Hold up!

Make way.

Stay still.

Yantang.

Why are you here?

Lord Qing, Duke of Ying, and Official Dou,

please come with me to the palace.

Are you blind?

Song Mo set fire and attempted to assassinate me.

He should be executed.

This evil woman plotted against me.

She deserves no better.

Yantang.

Finally, I've found

your weakness.

I only follow the imperial decree.

Please don't blame me, Your Highness.

People said it's inauspicious for pregnant women to see blood.

You shouldn't have come.

Didn't we agree

to face everything together,

no matter what happened?

I'll enter the palace with you.

(Qianqing Palace)

(Intermediary: Wei Tingzhen, Proposer)

Father, please investigate wisely.

Song Mo deliberately set a trap and started the fire.

If I hadn't defended myself,

I might not have survived to meet you now.

Is that something a prince should say?

Your Majesty,

(Revere Heaven and Ancestral Wisdom) Lord Qing formed a faction,

embezzled massive funds,

and fraternized with important officials

under the name of Silverhouse in the capital.

They committed bureaucratic corruption and exploited the people.

The list of his fraction and the agreement are here.

Please make your judgment, Your Majesty.

Are the important officials you mentioned

those who impeached the Crown Prince

a couple of days ago?

You instigated me to fight against my brother

for your own vengeance, didn't you?

Words may be fabricated,

but signatures and thumbprints can't.

Over a million silver taels in this ledger

can be tracked as clear as day.

I request a thorough investigation into every residence involved.

Your Majesty.

Duke of Ying,

this incident involves many parties.

His Majesty is exhausted now.

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

Lord Yu'an, Lord Jihuai, and Duke of Qing

request an audience.

All the lords are inside.

Even the key ministers

intend to impeach Song Mo.

He sent himself to his demise.

Do you want to follow him as well?

You blew up

the secret chamber, didn't you?

Do you know the punishment for illegal explosive manufacturing?

Capital crime.

However, Fifth Uncle, you're in charge of the military,

and your niece secretly made explosives.

You made this happen.

- You! - By then,

will the Empress and Lord Qing

sacrifice you

to die with me and Song Mo?

You... You're so despicable.

Are you trying to drag the Dou family down with you?

I'm protecting the Dou family.

Lord Qing embezzled national funds,

and the evidence is conclusive.

His Majesty is a wise ruler.

Besides, this incident has startled many parties.

His Majesty must make a decision.

Madam Dou, you may be good at managing household affairs,

but you underestimate the court politics.

You must be tired, Official Dou.

Go take a rest.

Yes, Your Highness.

You'll become a mother soon.

You should understand how parents think.

Even though Song Mo has a rightful reason,

he's still an official.

Youting may have committed a grave mistake,

but he's His Majesty's son.

His Majesty isn't just Lord Qing's father,

he's the father of this nation.

All the more reason

he should consider the bigger picture.

If every official who commits corruption

were executed,

how would the imperial court operate?

Would the people still have faith in it?

The law doesn't punish when too many people are guilty,

let alone their own families.

Lord Yu'an is His Majesty's uncle,

and Lord Jihuai is his blood brother.

The agreement might not serve as proof,

but it's definitely a giant stone

to crush you.

Song Mo was just promoted to the Command of Military Command,

yet he exploded the Silverhouse and committed theft.

You command the Imperial Guard,

yet you assault a prince in public.

(Lord Yu'an, Lord Jihuai) How arrogant of you.

You've disgraced the imperial favor.

You must be punished severely to quell public wrath.

According to the law,

royal family members must not interfere in court affairs.

I failed my duty and committed arson.

I admit it.

But if your name appears on the agreement,

will you admit it or not?

Your Majesty, the founding emperor left us ancestral teachings.

If the family is at peace, the nation will be stable.

The royal family is a role model for the people.

Filial piety is the main principle in governance.

Familial suspicions and brotherly discord are the greatest taboos.

As an official,

he instigated disharmony within the royal family.

He deserves a million deaths.

It was I who held your hand

as you transcribed every single sentence of the ancestral teachings.

Your Majesty,

have you forgotten?

Song Mo's accusation

is merely an attempt to absolve his family's crimes.

Your Majesty, you're wise.

You must be able to discern his base intention.

- Your Majesty, please decide wisely. - Your Majesty, please decide wisely.

This agreement

is stained with blood.

I can't read it clearly.

You've been kneeling until now.

You've done more than enough as a wife.

You should consider yourself.

Divorce Song Mo and return to the Dou family.

Your fifth uncle can keep your family safe,

and I'll keep a position

for you.

Becoming the wife of a guilty official

or a noble lady

is an easy choice.

Who I choose to be

isn't about whose wife I am

or daughter I am.

It depends on who I am.

A person with integrity walks their own path.

I'll be waiting here until Song Mo comes out.

The path of a ruler and the path of an official

are different.

If Song Mo were to leave here

with a clear name,

there would only be one path.

That's to admit that his actions tonight

were ordered by his father-in-law

and placed all the blame on Dou Shiying.

On this agreement,

I can only recognize

Dou Shiying's name.

You went to Yunfei Silverhouse for him, didn't you?

He must've become dotard

and driven you and Youting apart.

I barged into Yunfei Silverhouse and started the fire.

Father-in-law has no idea about it.

If you want to punish someone,

please punish me alone.

It has nothing to do with others.

Song Mo!

Your Majesty.

His Majesty cherish your talent.

Please don't be stubborn and take the blame.

Your future will be wasted.

Your Majesty,

given Song Mo's action tonight,

it's unforgivable.

Each offense deserves death.

Your Majesty, you mustn't show leniency on him.

If you don't execute him,

are you waiting for him to kill the entire royal family?

How dare you!

Should I send it to the Directorate of the Credentials for cleansing

or burn it?

Keep it.

Don't release it yet.

Yes, Your Majesty.

You have done well.

Your mother has raised you well.

If it weren't for tonight,

I wouldn't have realized

how much my uncle and brother

cherish you.

Father.

To achieve big,

one has to weigh the pros and cons.

Impulse

will only ruin everything.

Dou Shiying incited court officials

to frame princes

and cause chaos in the capital.

Guards.

Your Majesty,

I will not weigh the pros and cons

or abandon innocent people for personal gain.

If you must arrest someone,

I'll admit the crime.

If Uncle were alive,

he would never allow me

to sacrifice someone important

for my personal gain.

This is ludicrous.

How dare you pressure His Majesty with a disgraced official?

Do you have no regard for the monarch?

Are you trying to continue

Jiang Meisun's rebellion?

What did you just say?

You drew your sword in His Majesty's presence.

Are you trying to assassinate the emperor?

I'll kill you.

Are you insane, Song Mo?

Staying sober

is a hundred times more painful than madness.

Abandoning justice for the family.

You've done this more than once.

Why should I still endure this?

Why should I still have hope in you?
