[The Demon Hunter's Romance]

[Episode 8]

Xuanye.

Xuanye!

Xuanye!

Xuanye.

No signs of escape detected.

Xuanye.

Get out!

You ruined my mood.

Why are you crying?

W-Who's speaking?

Don't you like this

aging face?

Do you want to regain your youth?

I do.

I do.

Then you need to promise me

one condition.

Are you willing?

I am.

You need to promise me

to stay by my side forever.

You only need to agree

and I can make you

eternally youthful.

Li.

Because I promised you

I will definitely marry you properly.

I also want everyone in the city

to know

that the woman who will become my wife

is the most beautiful woman in the world.

No matter how you change,

I will forever

cherish you,

love you,

and be good to you.

Do you remember now?

They all covet

your beauty.

They don't understand you.

Only I

am the one who loves you the most.

So the people I loved

were all killed by you,

one

after another.

I'm going to kill you!

You promised me.

You can't leave me.

Ever.

You were great before.

It was them.

They corrupted you.

They're the bad ones,

not you.

I've already locked them up.

All those bad things

are forgotten.

Li,

let's start over,

okay?

Okay?

Playing tricks.

Xuanye.

Wait for me.

Xuanye!

Who let you in?

Xuanye, save me!

Don't be afraid.

I'm here to save you.

You've got some skills, demon.

Go find a spot in the back

and take a good look

at how I deal with him.

You be careful.

Don't worry.

Okay.

Such arrogance

Whether I have arrogance or real skills,

you'll find out soon enough.

Greedy Wolf!

Xuanye.

Don't worry.

No demons alive now can hurt me.

Mountain Shaker.

Be careful.

Don't panic.

I'm deliberately letting him have a few moves.

Everything is under control.

Xuanye.

Are you alright?

I'm fine.

Everything is under control.

Why don't you draw your sword?

A mere minor demon isn't worth drawing my sword for.

You seem a bit different.

How am I different?

Kid,

don't you understand yet?

Understand what?

You touched my mirror.

A part of you

has been sealed by me.

You're no match for me now.

Bah!

You're quite an old demon.

Have some shame, will you?

Xuanye, don't!

Don't!

Wake up!

Xuanye!

Come on!

Where is he?

Li.

Li.

Come with me.

Xuanye.

Let me out.

Let me out!

I'll kill you!

Ms. Ji Li?

Let me out!

I'll kill you!

I really underestimated you.

I have something to ask you.

You'd better answer honestly.

You don't understand what I'm saying?

You once kidnapped

someone named Duan Yingheng

in Nanyang City.

Where is he now?

In Penglai Alley, Nanyang City,

someone set fire to

the third house

on the left.

I saw a mirror at the scene

that couldn't reflect people.

There was one in my father's room too.

So was it you who set the fire, killed people,

and kidnapped my father?

It was me.

Why?

Half a year ago,

I was entrusted by a senior from the demon clan

to capture your father.

When we were in Yuanzhou,

I almost succeeded.

He was very alert.

He fled to Nanyang with his family.

I chased after him.

Just as I was about to succeed,

a demon

intervened.

It lent your father a life.

Lent a life?

Yes.

He took on your father's appearance

and staged that fire,

helping him fake his death and escape.

It almost fooled me.

Fortunately,

I tracked him to your home

and captured him.

Father?

Father!

What's wrong?

I beg you.

Please don't hurt my daughter.

I'm begging you.

I implore you.

Spare my daughter.

I'll go with you.

So that night,

you were in the room too.

How could anything happen to me?

I'm just

tired from organizing manuscripts without rest.

I'm really a bit exhausted.

Who's the demon that made you capture him?

Where is he?

Speak.

Alright,

I'll tell you.

Let's go.

Chi Wangchuan.

Banxia,

stop Ji Li.

Ms. Ji Li.

Li.

Li.

Chuan.

Chuan.

Chuan.

♫Tying dark locks♫

♫To end this love♫

♫How to break off the entangled love and hate?♫

Chuan!

Chuan.

♫Sorrows and joys can't be reflected fully in mirrors♫

Chuan!

♫Accompanying each other through the vibrant days♫

♫I'll return your old dream to you♫

Banxia.

Let's go.

Wait a moment.

♫To get drunk for thousands of years♫

Ji Li,

this place is about to disintegrate.

We need to leave quickly.

♫River Styx flows♫

This is his memory realm.

He's dead.

♫I'm afraid I can't forget the pain♫

This place is going to collapse too.

You should leave quickly.

He's already dead.

♫I don't regret the first meeting back then♫

If you don't leave now, it'll be too late.

The person I loved is dead.

The person I hated is also dead.

Everything is over.

It's all self-inflicted.

I can't blame anyone else.

Hurry and leave.

♫Share days and nights with you♫

Let's go, Banxia.

Go!

♫In exchange for deep love♫

Chuan.

All love and hate have dissipated.

♫Entwined through the endless night♫

We're finally even.

♫Blossoms fell into eternal sleep in a blink♫

♫With no regrets, only joy in this life♫

This…

This doesn't reveal anything either.

Is there a possibility

that there's a secret passage in that inn?

Impossible.

I've torn up all the floorboards.

So you've torn up the floorboards,

but could there be a secret passage in the walls?

I've torn down the walls too.

You've torn down the walls too?

Everything's been torn down.

Are you alright?

Wen Jian has an emergency at home.

He can't make it to the appointment.

What business do you have with Wen Jian?

I want to know about the Ganshan Clinic case

from six years ago.

Six years ago, at Ganshan Clinic,

Xuanye's entire family was

murdered in one night.

Everyone said

it was Xuanye who did it.

I believed that too at the time.

Ganshan Clinic had few people,

just Xuanye's family of four

plus three apprentices.

His father

was a renowned physician.

Still sleeping?

Study hard.

The brothers learned medicine from their father

and gained some reputation.

Ganshan Clinic usually

made a living by setting bones

and treating injuries.

Of course,

the father and sons

had another identity.

It's what you know.

Demon hunters.

When the murder occurred,

I had just arrived in Guangping.

It was the first case I handled

after I came to Guangping City.

It was also the most horrifying crime scene

I had ever witnessed in my life.

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes,

I couldn't have imagined it at all.

Father!

Mother!

Mother!

Move aside!

Xuanye.

There's no saving them.

There's no hope.

Do it!

Xuanye.

Son.

It's not your fault.

It's not your fault.

I was tricked by the Miasma Demon.

But I've already killed it.

You don't need to be afraid.

It was I

who harmed your mother,

your elder brother,

and everyone else.

It has nothing to do with you.

Father,

it was me.

I angered the Miasma Demon.

That's why it came to Ganshan Clinic

to seek revenge.

I'm the one who harmed you all.

Do you still remember

what I told you before?

People can be good or evil,

and the same for demons.

Even if your parents

and brother

were all killed by demons,

you can't let hatred

blind your eyes.

Don't kill indiscriminately without distinguishing right from wrong.

Also,

in this world,

you can go anywhere,

except for the Underground City.

Humans and demons mingle there,

with powerful demons lurking.

You must not go there.

Also,

this Bu'er Bracelet

is your protective charm.

As long as you have it,

you'll be safe.

Got it?

Father,

why are you

suddenly telling me all this?

It's alright,

Xuanye.

Xuanye.

Father.

Xuanye,

Ganshan Clinic

is now in your hands.

Also,

you must keep

the Hidden Dragon Case safe.

Those five swords

are not ordinary weapons,

especially the last two.

Never use them unless

it's absolutely necessary.

Xuanye...

The sword!

Changle Sword!

Xuanye!

Father.

I'll save you.

Don't waste your energy.

It's not the time for karma yet.

Eternal joy has not appeared.

It means all of this

is destined.

Our Jiu family

is fated

to face this tribulation.

It's just that

you've suffered so much.

Xuanye,

I don't know

what's best

for you.

I'm afraid I've made a mistake.

Father.

Father.

Hold on.

There are so many demon hunters in this world.

We'll surely find

a demon hunter who can

cure the miasma poison.

I'll take you to get treatment.

Let's go!

It's no use.

It's no use.

Son,

remember this.

Only you

can decide

who you are.

Father.

Father.

Father!

When I arrived

at the crime scene,

it was already daybreak.

Xuanye was kneeling in a pool of blood,

holding

the dagger that killed his father.

The scene at that time

made it obvious

that everyone

had died by Xuanye's hand.

It was undeniable.

So I arrested him.

All these years, I firmly believed

he was the murderer.

Until these past few days…

Until these past few days,

I came to believe in the existence of demons.

So I went to ask Wen Jian.

Wen Jian told me

Xuanye's entire family had been poisoned by a demon.

The poison was extremely vicious.

Once poisoned, one would lose their mind

and become like a wild beast.

Xuanye killing his family

must have been an act of desperation.

But at that time,

he didn't say a word in his own defense.

Then what did he say?

He said he was the murderer.

But why?

I used to think

he had nothing to say in his defense.

But now it seems

at that time,

he was suicidal.

As the day

of his execution approached,

Xuanye's master

suddenly came to Guangping.

That man had some influence.

I don't know what methods he used,

but he convinced the prefectural governor.

As a result, the case

was ruled as the work of bandits.

Xuanye was acquitted.

Of course, I wasn't convinced.

But the prefectural governor said

the bandits were just an excuse.

The truth was

there were demons at work.

At that time,

how could I possibly believe it?

Chief Constable Chu.

Do you know

if Xuanye ever suffered

any serious injuries?

In this line of work,

who doesn't get injured?

I mean injuries from when he was young.

Then I know even less about that.

All these years, I thought

he was a murderer.

I made things difficult for him everywhere.

I can't say we were friends.

I really want to know

what Xuanye was like before.

I heard from Wen Jian

that he was a free-spirited and outgoing person,

unrestrained and carefree.

Don't be afraid.

I'm here to save you.

♫A familiar figure♫

You've got some skills, demon.

Vivacious and confident.

♫Becomes clear in the haze♫

♫Yet it's out of reach♫

Don't worry.

No demons alive now can hurt me.

He thought he was destined for greatness

and was extraordinary.

♫Your earnest reminders♫

He was arrogant

and very cocky.

Bah!

♫And words of concern♫

You're quite an old demon.

Have some shame, will you?

♫They've woven and colored the time we shared♫

But now he...

Anyone who had gone through such an experience

♫Traces of bond♫

would change.

♫With a sigh, we bid farewell♫

Do you know what was the first thing

he said to me when I arrived

at the crime scene?

♫Keeping you company, and seeing you off on a long journey♫

What was it?

He asked me to kill him.

♫You're the same as before♫

♫And I'm still following closely behind♫

Thankfully, it's all in the past now.

♫Remember it day and night♫

Yes,

it's all over now.

♫One side is the past♫

♫Where you lingered♫

♫The other is the unforgettable♫

♫Dream of mine♫

Xuanye,

♫A fallen leaf, a drop of wine♫

you're back?

Are you hungry?

♫Each drop into my heart♫

If you are, grab a snack first.

♫A moment of memory, an illusion♫

Dinner will be ready soon.

Xuanye, look.

The goods we got this time are excellent.

♫A segment of reminiscence engraved for a lifetime♫

We'll surely make a lot of money.

Yes, Xuanye,

they're really good.

Xuanye.

Xuanye.

I'll give you five strings of cash

if you go and beat up your brother.

Father,

are you a sore loser?

As the saying goes,

what's inside will manifest outside.

♫One side is the past♫

Observe the small to know the great, and use medicine dialectically.

♫Where you lingered♫

This is what you taught me.

Then did I teach you

to feed lamb lung soup to the Moon Bugs?

They like it.

This...

I'll beat you to death!

♫The other is the unforgettable♫

They like it?

♫Dream of mine♫

Get down here!

Run! Run!

Run! Run!

What are you doing?

♫A fallen leaf, a drop of wine♫

What did you do to upset your father again?

Mother, Mother!

♫Each drop into my heart♫

Mother, look!

You little rascal!

♫A moment of memory, an illusion♫

♫A segment of reminiscence engraved for a lifetime♫

I never thought

that Physician Jiu had experienced

such a tragic event.

My lady,

what are you looking at?

Nothing.

[Duan Mansion]

Young Master.

Young Master.

A letter has arrived from Yuanzhou.

Young Master,

is there news about the lady?

Mr. Xu, please prepare my horse.

Yes.

I told you

I'm really not feeling well.

Ever since I arrived,

my cold hasn't gotten better.

And you said I didn't need to take medicine.

Have a seat first.

I'll check your pulse in a moment.

It's still just a cold.

Some medicine will do the trick.

If you're busy,

just tell me the herbs,

I'll prepare them myself.

You'll prepare them?

Alright.

Ten grams of fangfeng.

Fangfeng is in...

The fourth drawer of the third row.

I found it.

You slept for six days straight

without eating or drinking anything.

I was afraid you'd starve to death.

I wanted to bring you some food,

but Chi Xue wouldn't let me.

He said when you're asleep,

you don't need to eat or drink.

Banxia,

Five grams of banxia.
