LeAnn has been in the business since she was 8 years old,

which is really crazy.

It's by one of my favorite bands.

Every time I hear this song,

I just always think of my grandmother who passed away.

I feel like death and life is really beautiful,

and that's what I write in a lot of my songs.

Break people's hearts. It's so heartbreaking.

Lucia: I feel like my love for Grandma Teri continues to grow,

even though that she's passed.

Growing up, Grandma Teri was facing her demons,

and that didn't go away until she came back from rehab.

We started to build a relationship after that.

Then she got the tragic news

that she had stage 4 colon cancer.

I was with Grandma Teri

in the last few weeks of her life playing music.

Grandma Teri was so supportive of my music.

That was the one thing that she never faltered on.

I really hope that I can show my vulnerable folk self

on the stage because she would be so proud of me.

You and a guitar is so disarming

and beautiful and enchanting.

It's perfect. Okay, cool.

The one thing I would say on the ends of your lines --

You sometimes have a tendency to, like...

Squeeze it forward? ...squeeze off and choke it off.

Yeah. I would just say pay attention to that.

Okay. Such a huge part of your sound is your vibrato.

Yeah. Just trust in yourself enough

to not lean on it so heavy

'cause when you do use it, it's so powerful.

Okay, cool. Don't take away from that power by overusing it

'cause it's so beautiful. Yeah.

There's such a jazzy quality to her voice,

but in such a cool, different, unique way,

and this really showcases everything

her voice has to offer. * Affection for people... *

Some voices just don't need a lot of showy things going on

in order to be felt.

I think that that's super key.

Music runs in the family.

Growing up, my mom was a choir teacher.

Every year at our Christmas service,

and two years ago I decided not to pursue sports anymore,

All the years of sports that I had played

really taught me how to perform
