what is your best quality?

- I would say my best quality
is my confidence.

- For a long time, I stifled it
because I believed the world.

I come from a small town
in Alabama.

So they definitely tried
to beat me down,

but as I came out
and found drag,

I've just realized
that I was born to do this.

I have every reason
to be confident,

and those people were
just jealous all along.

Now what's your worst quality?

- My worst quality is
probably my shadiness.

I'm the villain

Not everyone always

done differently?

- I think I would have
started off the competition

just being myself.

I came into this thinking
I knew everything about drag.

I'm a pageant girl.

They wanted to see who was
behind this perfect persona

that I've created.

during the competition

that you wanted to give up?

- In the competition.

- You know, I've only been
doing drag three years,

and outside of this,
drag isn't my full-time job.

I'm a full-time cook
out of this.

aficionado.

giving up now.

my heart on my sleeve.

So it's easy to tell
when I'm having a good time

or a bad time or if
I'm frustrated or angry,

and sometimes I don't
rub people the right way,

so when I got here, this was
just a whole new world for me.

- The thing that could prevent
Onya from getting the job

is being in her head too much.

You need to be a joy.
You need to want to be there.

Because I don't want
to be around people

that are miserable.

- It took a lot of me
getting out of my own way,

and I had to be like,
"Girl, you got to stop

alienating yourself.

"You got to stop sitting
over there in the corner

and really engage."

- I mean, "Drag Race"
in itself is, you know,

we're a bit of a sorority.
- Yeah.

- And so it's important
to have great camaraderie,

a great sisterhood,
especially in Vegas

where the machine is moving
full speed ahead.

You have to be quick
and treat everybody

with respect and kindness.
- Yeah.

I knew coming in here,
I was gonna have a issue,

like, vibing with
certain queens,

and I just wasn't sure

if I was gonna be able
to handle it.

Fast forward to now,
I feel like I've broken down

those barriers,
and I've built up

the drag callouses to handle
anything that's coming my way.

- Hopefully we'll see you
in Vegas, baby.

Well, first of all,
we know each other.

- Absolutely.

It's really cool to get
to share this moment.

- Tell me,
what is your worst quality?

- I'm very unique.

I'm very unlike
the typical drag queen.

The things that are expected
of a drag queen of,

like, the perfect hair line
and the snatch.

That stuff, they need
a little zhuzhing.

- But all in all,
I'm kind of the whole package.

- You're a total package.

Looking back on the season,

what would you
have done differently?

- I was so excited
about Snatch Game.

I had, in my mind,
the perfect character.

I thought RuPaul would lose
her mind laughing at it,

and then it just
didn't go that way.

And I learned that
I can be a little niche,

and it's OK to allow

a wider audience to laugh.

- Now, do you think
all of your competitors

are ready for
the Las Vegas stage?

- I think every single
one of the girls

that are here are
fierce performers

and incredible entertainers.

- OK, I don't want the bullshit.

We're not at the pag.
- That is true.

- You're trying
to get a gig here.

You got to beat
these other girls out.

You better throw some bitches
under the bus

or leave them at the bus stop.

- Some of the girls here,
they do drag queen very well,

but a lot of people
do drag queen very well,

how much time do you have?

I was a homeless drug addict.

So I am, like RuPaul said,
a survivor.

I've been...
I've survived through

a human trafficking incident.

I was at a hotel party
with friends.

We were all under the influence
of a lot of substances.

They asked me if I wanted
to take my friends home

and come back alone,

and young and dumb me, I did,
and I came back.

They gave me some stuff.

I woke up handcuffed to a bed
and stayed there for 48 hours.

[somber music]

I'm sorry.

Those moments make me feel
like I just want this

to be a long-term journey,
honey.

I've survived through
so many fucked things

in life that I'm prepared
for anything you throw at me.

Now, I might cry, but
I am prepared to handle it.

- Life experience is
the best teacher in the world,

and sometimes what we go
through and experience in life,

while we're in it,
we're not feeling

like it's doing us a service,
but look at you.

The strength, the perseverance.

What happens
when you put pressure?

- Girl.

and I found out as I was
sitting waiting to go on.

In that moment,
I really was like, "Girl,

that I wrote when she said them.

- She went home.

and seeing all of you
but also seeing a clown.

my hardest days.

I was, like, really overwhelmed.

super quiet the first few days.

I was like, "Oh, no, Sam."

And then you totally
snapped out of it

and became a monster
beast demon from hell.

- I was scared of Lexi at first.

- She's a Southern queen,

and I knew that she wouldn't

but thank God we became friends.

- The first impression I have
of Sam versus what I think

they're like different people.

I just thought she was nothing.

And once I started to realize
that we were much more similar

than I thought, she has
become my favorite person

in this competition now.

The minute she walked in,
I said, "oh, my God."

I think we all remember
the moment we saw Suzie.

- I've always wanted
my name in the papers.

- I always wanted
to be in the papers.

- You could just tell
that you were very smart.

- I am so glad for Sam
and I's relationship now.

"There's no way she gets me."

- Well, that's the thing

I just preferred the glitz
and the glam and the fab.

- But it is fascinating

I am really close
with these girls.

before coming out here.

about being immersed

in the world of drag queens,
and then I met Jewels.

She too pretty.

I was looking at this
as another pageant

where I came in
and competed and then

never saw anyone again,

love all these girls,

and I see them as my friends.

A lot of the time,
the girl who has the most wins

It wasn't even Reno.

- And then in the number,

they were all doing
this Vegas thing,

and you were still
in a talkie in 1927.

So it just didn't go.

Also, the character shoes
almost killed me.

If you're gonna wear
character shoes,

make your LaDucas sparkle.

- I will say that what
I saw in your interview

that really blew me away,
I wrote down

"so incredibly
self-reflective."

And that's a quality that
will take you as an artist

into so many different places.

So I see someone
who's completely

committed to what they're doing,

and that you can
bring everywhere.

- You were so charming
in your interview.

I loved it.

I just want you to look
at yourself as a full picture

and not one thing.

- During this competition,
you did venture

into different makeup styles,
and we were just

gobsmacked when we saw that.

- But we never did get the full
"I'm away from it" Suzie Toot.

the semifinals and with this,

it would be like a return
to form but more polished,

spectacular and amazing

- Quite honestly, I think
she was my favorite.

In "The Gift Shop,"
I thought she was fantastic.

That Cher hair
is gorgeous on her.

She knew the choreo.
She was smiling.

She was having a great time.

- On the runway,
Jewels Sparkles sparkled.

To quote her promotional video,

- I'd see that show in a minute.

Sense of humor,

She had it all.

with Lexi Love.

She has shown out on
the runway every single time.

Tonight was no exception.

I loved that opulent outerwear
that she wore.

the essence of

"I will never not be me"
of Lexi.

Her sass, her bounce,
her joy, yes.

- In the promotional video, uh,
I wouldn't go see that show.

I would not.

But she really shined
in the "Gift Shop" number.

Could not take
my eyes off of her,

and I had to force myself
to look at the other girls.

And, normally,
I would be forcing myself

to look at the dancers.
I couldn't even do that.

Onya Nurve.

- The one-on-one interview,
now y'all had

such a problem with her
North Carolina

pastor's wife outfit.
I actually loved it.

She consciously said,
"You know what?

I'm gonna do
a daytime talk show look."

- It was the wig.

- Daytime wig, Ross,
daytime wig.

- That should be
a middle of the night wig

is what that should be.

But what worked for me was
her story in the interview.

She talked about
what it felt like being

the cook in the back
of the kitchen,

wanting to be in
the light on the stage.

I think about that
a lot because,

you know, I worked
at McDonald's,

register, drive-through,
and grill.

- Yes!

- And I would think, "One day,

"I'm gonna be on TV
talking about

how I used to flip burgers."

- And that runway look was
everything and a bag of chips.

And they were Doritos,
so you know?

- Mm.
- Yum.

- In the "Gift Shop" number,
she was fantastic.

Onya is a star.

She really has a presence

that will not be ignored.

There's a sense of
she swallowed the sun

in a way that just
kind of comes through

in all the different moments.

I thought that was real pretty.
