While I was working my shift,

He's yelling.

He seemed very intoxicated

and demanding that he speak
to his ex-wife.

The cops came

and recommended that I file
a protection order on Jeremy.

I needed to bring Ryder
to the hospital.

They think that
she just got a bug,

but they're always
like, with her,

you have to take
these precautions.

Something that seemed not
a big deal as throwing up

could very much be a big deal
for someone like Ryder,

because the longer that she
would go with just vomiting

and not eating,
that's a fasting period.

And Ryder can't fast
with her having VLCAD.

The last 30 hours

been the longest
30 hours ever.

With her, you have
to take these precautions.

we get to go home today.

There's a lot of
side effects that

play into prescription
medication

that you have to be mindful
of and aware of.

It's highly addictive.

It makes you drowsy, nauseous.

If it's excruciating pain,
then we'll--

I'll go to the pharmacy

and pick up
the other medication, OK?

Because I know you
did just have surgery,

and it can be painful.

- Yeah, my pain's not that bad,
but I still can't feel it

because it's still
a little bit numb.

- Well, when that wears off,
you might feel it more.

- So what's so bad
about medicine?

Isn't it supposed to help you?

- Different prescription
medication can

have different side effects.

So when I gave birth to you,

they put me on morphine while
I was in the hospital with you.

And then I went home
with prescription medication.

And then it spirals from there.

Because a lot of the times,
doctors will just

stop prescribing
and then you're hooked.

Your body is physically hooked
on this medication.

But I get terrified
to go to doctors now

because I'm afraid that
that could happen again,

which isn't good.

That's not a healthy
relationship with

your medical doctor, but I'm--

I'm working on that.

I know that I can't
change my past.

That has made me the woman
that I am today.

But I do know that I can
take those experiences

and those lessons
and change the trajectory

for my daughter's future.

When you have children, that
responsibility and the pressure

of it, you're just like,
please make sure

that I am doing this
in a way that

is going to be
of good influence

to them and their future.

Because of my personal
experience with addiction

and being prescribed
pain medication,

I am very sensitive about this.

I think it's something that it
could wreak havoc on a family,

and it's a conversation
that needs to be had.

So you got some lip stain on.

don't feel good,

can't look good.

I dress up every day
