But here in West Virginia, we still struggle with the lack

of resources and education.

So I need to vent really fast.

When Zach had said he wanted another baby,

I had said I wasn't sure for a number of reasons.

So I'm like, if you could at least get a job that covers all

of our health insurance, you're covering a big chunk of money

that we pay every month.

But then he told me he had an idea.

What are you looking at fireman stuff for?

- A career.

- Tell me more.

- EMT, of course, you need to have that as a prerequisite

to become a fireman.

- Uh-huh.

So over the last couple months,

I've been coming around to having another baby.

I'm thinking it, and I'm like, if we're going to do it,

it needs to happen now.

- But I still feel like I haven't seen big enough,

like, changes.

- You know, financially, I don't think I am ready to bring

life into the world.

- I respect that.

I just want you to hurry up.

I've just been, like, not in my right state of mind with it.

I know it's just going to stop me.

I have a felony on my record.

And now, I'm on probation for the DUI,

because I have multiple DUIs--

- I just feel like it's just hindering me from just

moving forward with a lot.

- Do you think you have to get over like, this isn't what

you want to do, but not everyone gets

to do what they want to do?

a toll on our relationship in certain ways.

- I was wondering about, like, if you could, like, maybe,

like, try to present, like, a new,

like, law of, like, sex ed in schools.

- So have you had any sex ed in schools at all thus far?

- Not really.

It was like once in fifth grade, and that's all.

- OK. And what did they talk about?

- They just told you about it.

They didn't really, like, explain detail or how to,

like, protect or anything like that.

- Being 17, when I first got pregnant with them,

I had this conversation with them all the time.

- We probably wouldn't know any of, like, the things

that we do know if our mom didn't tell us about them.

- For them, I was like, I want to be on top of it.

I want to prevent them from going through

the same experiences that I have went through.

- From what I know, the laws in West Virginia

are there is sex ed in schools.

It's comprehensive.

- When you say comprehensive sex ed,

what are they supposed to be learning?

- The law itself is pretty vague.

And that can be good and bad, right?

Because then it's up to the State Board of Ed

to decide what that looks like.

And then it really, like, each county and each school decides.

In West Virginia-- and you guys probably

won't be surprised-- there have been bills

to ban sex ed completely.

To say, you can't even talk about this happening at all.

- Wow.

- And I mean, that would be terrible

because your teachers should be talking

about what healthy relationships look like.

What consent looks like.

What good communication looks like in those situations.

What if you're gay or queer in some capacity?

That's going to be a totally different conversation.

But I think something that I find is that government

is hard to understand.

And some things are state things,

and some things are city things,

and some things are county things.

But there are so many things you can do.

And the biggest one is education.

Learn about the government, and learn about how it works.

Find social media accounts where

you can get better education on how

you can change those things.

Call your representatives, because even

though you're under 18, they still represent you.

You might know what you want the end goal to be.

Say you want free period products in schools.

Great.

Our prisons don't have products guaranteed.

Our schools don't have products guaranteed.

And even crazier, they're taxed.

So if you go buy them at the grocery store,

they're not cheap.

They're not cheap at all, especially

if you want the good stuff.

- So I think this was productive.

You guys have a better idea on how you can be of support

to those around you, how you can make a difference,

and all the questions you had.

For the last six months, I've really been,

I'm scared of getting pregnant. I'm not ready.

My pregnancy, my labor was traumatic.

So I think I should have been more scared when I was younger.

older because I'm more self-aware.

to raise a child because I want to be

the best mom I can be ever.

I go back and forth, honestly, every other day.

But I didn't let my first pregnancy trauma

stop me from getting my moment.

Oh, my honeymoon.

I feel like I've always had an excuse

to where I have to put it off, but now, it's like there's no--

- You've been in the positions that's been tough.

And had to make a recovery and bounce back from, you know,

being damn near rock bottom.

- One thing that helped me come to terms with life

being nothing but important big decisions for the rest

of your life was getting down to the reasons

why I was even feeling the way I was feeling.

You know what I mean? - How'd you do that?

Counselors and therapy? Counseling.

- Counseling and therapy. Yeah.

I don't know.

I guess while I was in treatment,

I got trained to think positively

all the time, no matter what. - Yeah.

- So, like, I could be going through the worst situation

ever, or be getting ready to make a huge decision that I'm

scared to make, you know what I mean, but my head stays level.

I don't panic about it. I don't overthink it.

I just let it flow.

Especially with Chey.

Like, be-- I'm sure you are 100% transparent with her,

but-- - All the way.

But there is some things that I do hold back on like--

So I went back to my chair, stood up, and I was like,

I actually can't wait. I have to go.

I have to change my tampon like now.

And then she said, sit down.

I was like, I'm about to bleed out.

I need to go to the bathroom.

You cannot tell a girl no if she's on her period.

She can't help that.

So if she wouldn't let me, I was

going to walk out to show that I'm going

to go do what is natural.

- I mean, if you have an issue like that,

you just need to ring me, and I will call the office.

So that way, you're not getting in trouble either.

- But I didn't have time for that.

I needed to go now.

I was in my new jeans.

That I wouldn't have been so mad if this didn't happen

to multiple other girls.

Because you didn't just take a stand for yourself,

you took a stand for everyone else that was

experiencing the same thing.

And another thing that-- people think it's

so hush-hush to talk about.

You can't talk about something that our bodies do naturally.

So we actually started to think of making care packages

and taking them to school and putting them

in the bathrooms for maybe people who can't afford them.

Because no one else would do it.

So if we don't, it feels like no one else will.

- Yeah.

- So actually, your period blood would

The first time that I started my period,

I was in fifth grade.

and you having no idea what was happening?

How would you feel?

get some fatherhood advice.

I'm kind of just at a place right now where

I'm trying to nestle down and find

that career to where I can, you know,

provide for the family. - Right.

- Put the kids on insurance and take care of everything,

be the man of the house and do what I need to do.

All right, so in order to become a fireman,

you need to become an EMT.

But as far as my record, is that something

that will pop up in the process and hinder me from getting it?

- Well, if it's expunged, then it's

as though it didn't happen.

It's like almost like an annulment.

- But from the EMT, if you take EMT now,

how long do you have to go through that before you

can become a fireman?

- Well, once you get your EMT license, I mean, you know,

if you go a six-month program, a three-month program,

depending on how you want to do it, once you get that,

then you're in position to start

going through the other steps.

Actually, there's-- I know with LA City, they're still

down over 300 positions.

So it's actually a good time to get into the processing

right now.

- See, I be hearing mixed things.

I heard it's like hard as hell to get in.

- No, it is hard. It's hard.

But I'm saying there's opportunity there.

- And on top of that, the pension, man.

Bro, I make more money now than I did when I was working--
