♪So don't let me go♪

[Episode 20]

Haven't seen you in a while.

I went to Beijing on a business trip.

It seems like

it didn't go well.

You seem upset.

Far from it.

It hit a dead end.

I have no idea how to break through.

You've learned to control your breathing now?

You don't seem to struggle

or be out of breath when you run.

By the way,

you know what young people say these days.

"Nothing's impossible

if you're willing to give up."

Relax.

Skipping a project or two won't hurt.

I can let go of other projects,

but I have to win this one.

Why?

It's confidential.

Confidential?

Then

let me take a wild guess.

Your forehead is broad and full.

I'd say a turnaround is coming within five days.

I'll take that as a blessing.

If it works out, I'll treat you to a meal.

Deal.

Keep going. I have to go.

[Gutong Securities]

Take a look at this.

Okay, I'll send it to you this afternoon.

- Hello, Ms. Ding. - Ms. Ding.

Tong.

Who sent these gifts?

Vivian's team.

They just closed a merger

and are having a celebration.

So they gave each of us

a gift.

More like showing off.

Free gifts are always nice.

Have you checked the sales data for LT.DT6.0?

All the recent numbers are here.

They're unstoppable.

Topped the sales chart

in the 200-300 price range on launch day.

Already sold over 100,000 pairs

across all platforms.

Wu Xun will be wearing these shoes

to participate in Hangzhou Marathon next week.

They say he'll break the national record.

If he does,

the sales of these shoes will more than double.

That's the ripple effect.

If other shoes sell well,

they'll make more money.

With plenty of money,

they'll be even less likely to agree to financing.

Back to work.

[Executive Director]

Mr. Zhang.

You're aware of Vivian's situation, I assume.

You don't have many major projects in hand.

Only by securing Training Box

can you compete with her for the position of MD.

Last week,

you said Mr. Gan wouldn't agree to financing.

So, that path is blocked.

There's no way with Gan Yang.

We'll try to find other breakthroughs.

Make it quick.

The election is next month.

I want you in that seat.

Understood?

Thank you, Mr. Zhang.

Shuchi has been trying to poach Wu Xun again.

Keep a close eye on him.

He's not as steadfast as I am.

We've worked with Wu Xun for five years.

We hired coaches and nutritionists for him

and sent him abroad for training.

That's how he achieved today's success.

If he agrees to Shuchi,

that's pure ingratitude.

People are unpredictable.

Have Marketing draft several more plans.

Even if Wu Xun wears Shuchi's shoes,

we'll have other seeded players

we can promote.

Don't bother.

I've already prepared the plans.

Let's just cancel this meeting.

Someone is clearly not focused.

What?

Did I miss a cue?

Let me see your plans.

I know you can multitask.

Let's wrap up the Wu Xun discussion.

I'm exhausted.

I'm staying at your place tonight.

Fine.

[Sanya Resort]

You know why I sought out other women?

Because I don't feel any love from you,

do you understand?

You care more about Matching than me.

So now you're blaming

your affair on me?

If I didn't love you,

I wouldn't have stayed with you for so many years

or hustled for clients while pregnant.

If you felt

nothing between us,

you could've divorced me

before seeing other women!

You're always in the wrong when you cheat!

Mingmei, why are you hiding in here?

I've been looking for you.

Yeah.

This is to celebrate your return to being single.

Our main character can't be absent, right?

Right, get up now.

Come on, get up.

Come on.

We're going to have fun today.

Here.

Guys, champagne

is on me tonight!

Mingmei!

Are you okay, Mingmei?

Mingmei!

Can anyone swim?

Somebody help!

Mingmei!

Come up. Be careful.

Easy does it.

Be careful.

Take it slow.

Mingmei?

Mingmei?

She's awake.

Mingmei, are you okay?

How do you feel?

Here.

Have some water while it's warm.

Are you alright?

Take it slow.

Easy does it.

Who saved me?

Some tall and hot guy.

Where did he go?

He was just here.

It seems like he's already left.

Mingmei.

Mingmei!

Mingmei.

Was I hallucinating?

That was definitely Qin Chang.

Please, have a seat.

Thank you.

What can I get you?

Just plain congee, please.

Just a moment, please.

Mr. Qin,

thank you for teaching me all those workplace efficiency hacks.

They're really helpful.

It's because you're a quick learner.

It's really Mr. Qin.

Not at all.

Credit goes to you.

Thank you for your guidance.

Mr. Qin? Thank you for saving me last night.

After six years, you're still so popular.

And you are...?

Age must be catching up.

No surprise you don't remember.

Well, let me introduce myself again.

I'm Song Mingmei. Nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you.

Who is it?

Hello?

You just woke up now?

I met a client and then took a short nap.

Had all these dreams. My head is killing me.

Well, you need the right cure for your heartache.

Let's not talk about my mess.

You didn't call me

just to check

if I woke up, did you?

I ran into Mr. Qin.

Mr. Qin?

There was a young girl with him,

calling him Mr. Qin this and that,

just like I used to.

I even greeted him,

but he acted like he didn't know me.

Well, it has been years.

That's understandable.

So, what do you think?

Any sparks seeing him again?

That ship sailed long ago.

No idea if he heard

about my divorce.

I don't want him to know that I'm not doing well.

I even bought this huge diamond ring.

Seriously? That's so exaggerated.

It's not expensive.

By the way, have you finalized your divorce?

Still sorting out

the equity split and transfer.

If you've got time, help me look over it.

No problem.

Hello?

Could you send me a thermometer

and some febrifuge.

I'm not feeling well.

Just key in.

Why you? How did you get in?

I came to take your temperature. Then I'll go.

After all these years,

how did you become a hotel manager?

My friend owns this place.

He knows we know each other.

He told me specially

when he heard you had a fever.

Please leave now.

Don't stay here.

Alright, let me just take your temperature.

Should we go to the hospital?

No need. I'm not that fragile.

Just give me the pills.

Mr. Qin, it seems like you don't care much

about your girlfriend after all.

Or do you already have a wife?

Asking about my personal life.

Are you still interested in me?

Mr. Qin,

I'm married now.

That's a huge diamond ring.

Looks like you got everything you wanted.

Of course.

I once said I'd become a successful woman

by 35.

Now I'm five years ahead of schedule.

Remember Matching Tech?

Used it.

It was founded by my husband and me.

It's now worth three billion.

Impressive.

But why isn't he

vacationing with you?

This is a friends' gathering.

It wouldn't be appropriate for him to come.

I thought you might have had a fight and got divorced,

and came here to relax and party.

Mr. Qin, he's not like you.

He treats me well.

And we never fight.

We have an adorable daughter.

Here are the three of us.

Well?

Isn't she cute?

Takes after me.

Yeah, she is.

But the husband is just average-looking.

Alright, you've taken your medicine.

Just get some rest.

If your fever doesn't go down,

remember to go to the hospital.

Don't worry. I can take care of myself.

Then I'll leave.

- Bottoms up! - Bottoms up!

Nobody leaves until we're properly drunk.

Deal.

Let's see who can't drink up.

Wu Xun.

Wu Xun.

You're participating

in the Hangzhou Marathon next week,

and you're drinking?

I've been training all day.

It's okay to have a little drink and relax.

Let's play dice.

Again.

You lost. Drink up.

Everyone, relax. Have fun.

Come on.

Yeah, right.

- Come on. - Let's have a toast.

Come on.

Let's exchange WeChat accounts later.

Come on.

Keep going.

Waitress.

Four twos. Call or fold?

Four twos?

I call!

Enough games.

Send over the Martell

I have stored here to him.

Come on.

Tell him it's from an admirer.

Yes, sir.

Who?

Who is it?

Some big shot?

An old friend.

Come on.

- No? - Mr. Wu.

Drink up.

That gentleman gave you this drink.

Drink up.

For me?

Yes, he said he's your admirer.

This is really expensive.

- Never had anything this expensive. - How generous.

Cheers.

Finish it. All of it.

- Okay. - Finish it.

Mr. Gan, if Wu Xun wins the championship again,

our sales will double for sure.

LT relies on its own strength.

But as a friend, I hope he comes in first.

Gan Yang! Bad news.

Wu Xun has had an accident.

What happened?

Look.

He sprained his ankle right after the start.

In interviews,

[Wu Xun injured wearing LT shoes] he blamed our shoes,

saying there was a problem with the sole elasticity

and he noticed

something was off during the training.

It's now trending on all major platforms.

Someone must be behind this.

Where is he now?

Can't reach him.

Phone's off.

Not at home either.

Have you seen the news about Wu Xun?

I'm watching it now.

It's causing a stir online.

Some say they also sprained their ankles wearing these shoes.

Returns are flooding in.

Some even claim

the data from the launch event was faked.

Keep following up.

This might be the breakthrough

for Training Box.

Got it.

Mr. Wang, while you were abroad,

the situation with LT running shoes has been escalating.

The domestic market has been affected,

and even overseas sales

have dropped by 30%.

The monthly active count for Training Box

has plummeted by 10%.

It seems more than one party

is using this ankle sprain incident to target LT.

They've been too prominent in recent years,

capturing nearly 20% of the national market share.

Plenty of people are keeping an eye on them.

We just wanted Wu Xun to drink a bit more

and run slower in the marathon.

Who knew he'd sprain his ankle

and blame the running shoes he endorses?

The public outcry erupted immediately.

What a pleasant surprise.

How's Ding Zhitong handling it?

According to Mr. Zhang,

Ms. Ding has flown to five cities in three days.

She's already leveraged public opinion

to secure two minority shareholders' signing

on the Letter of Intent for Financing.

Good. Bold and decisive.

I knew I wasn't wrong about her.

Mr. Wang,

Mr. Zhan from Shuchi Sports

has been trying to meet with you.

Not interested.

He's incompetent.

The way he blocked Gan Yang's R&D funding

became a laughingstock in the industry.

Understood. I'll turn him down.

By the way,

have Public Relations fan the flames regarding the ankle sprain incident.

Help Ding Zhitong close the Training Box deal faster.

Stop writing. Look at this.

What's wrong?

[Data fraud runs in the family]

[LT's CEO's father was a fraudster]

I'm never buying LT shoes again.

[LT's CEO's father released from prison] No wonder their launch data was so good.

Turns out it was all fake.

If Wu Xun hadn't worn LT shoes,

he could have won the triple crown this time.

Eco-friendly materials, my foot.

Just trash synthetics.

My feet got injured like this

because I wore their shoes.

I'm never buying their shoes again.

Trash!

[LT's midsole material is actually made from trash]

[No wonder people are getting hurt!]

I'm suing them for defamation!

We've paid them lots of advertising fees

but they're reluctant to take down a video when we ask them to.

Exactly, they call it trash.

They don't know anything.

That's an eco-friendly synthetic.

What do they know? They're just talking nonsense.

We fix problems as they come.

It can't be worse than six years ago.

So what should we do?

Seeing this kind of news every day is really frustrating.

I've already had people look for Wu Xun.

We should have news in a few days.

Ms. Ding,

I've made my pledge

to the Wang's.

We're in the same boat now.

We can't let it fail.

Rest assured.

The strength of the Wang's is undeniable.

Had they stepped in earlier,

LT's crisis wouldn't have escalated

to this point.

After all, the Wang's holds stakes

in all these media platforms.

Understood.

I've never doubted

the strength of the Wang's.

They can also provide high liquidity for Training Box

and drive up the stock price.

Just wait for your equity value

to soar.

That's what I wanted to hear.

Ms. Ding, I'll await your good news.

I'll update you at every step.

Do you think Ding Zhitong

is behind the Wu Xun incident?

No.

She'd never resort to underhanded tactics.

Mr. Gan, Ms. Xu.

What a coincidence.

You guys go ahead.

I'll be leaving.

Ms. Ding, it looks like

you haven't been sleeping well lately,

busy persuading our minority shareholders.

You look haggard.

Can't be helped. Business is like a battlefield.

I thought the financing was hopeless.

Now that there's a sudden opportunity,

of course, I'm seizing it.

What opportunity?

You are behind all this,

aren't you?

So what if I am?

See? I told you it was her!

She admitted it herself.

Now will you believe me?

I benefit from this too.

Mr. Gan, why are you so sure

I wouldn't do this?

I haven't forgotten.

The matrix is your dream.

I just want to destroy it.

Ding Zhitong, don't celebrate too soon.

Without our approval,

you'll never get your chance.

Since when do you have a say

in Training Box, Ms. Xu?

- She's also a shareholder. - You...

She has the right to say that.

The video platform execs are arriving.

I'll greet them.

Alright.

Ding Zhitong,

whether you meant to destroy it or not,

I'm glad

you remember my dream.

Tong, are you unwell?

Let's go.

Take care.

Mr. Gan is truly impressive.

He has such a strong presence.

I couldn't even speak

when he stood there.

Later, you should organize

our company's media resources

and have them

publish positive news

about LT online in a few days.

Tong, you're not going soft, are you?

What are you thinking?

We just got the signatures from some shareholders.

LT is an important shareholder of Training Box.

The aftermath of this scandal

will definitely affect Training Box.

The Wang's won't invest

in a company with a bad reputation.

You're right.

But our media reach is limited.

Mr. Gan mentioned

they were meeting with video platform execs.

What we can do is just a drop in the bucket.

We'll do what we can.

Let's meet the next shareholder.

Got it.

[Gutong Securities]

Here, Tong.

With this one,

we've convinced half the shareholders.

Now

we can force Gan's hand.

After all this work, we finally have a breakthrough.

Does this mean

we can celebrate tonight?

There's a new trendy entertainment place near the office.

They have board games, billiards, archery,

and everything.

You guys go ahead.

I'll pass.

But it's on me.

Do whatever you want.

Thanks, Tong.

Why aren't you coming, Tong?

You seem a bit unhappy.

Is something wrong with the project?

I'm not unhappy.

It's nothing. I'm just a bit tired.

I'm going home to rest.

You guys go ahead.

Unless you all want to stay and work overtime.

Have fun. I'm leaving.

- Bye, Tong. - Bye.

Yeah.

I had already let go.

I was ready to move on

and start a new life.

But then he had to show up at this moment.

Why does it have to be like this?

Why did he have to appear?

I hate him.

But I hate myself even more

for still being so unhappy because of him.

Mr. Gan, we found him.

Keep an eye on him.

I'm on my way.

You've already shifted the blame.

You didn't expect the public opinion to turn out like this.

I feel guilty towards Gan Yang.

Without him, I wouldn't be where I am today.

Oh, come on.

He's a big boss worth hundreds of millions.

He used you because you were valuable.

Look,

you helped him make a lot of money.

If you clarify now,

LT will definitely crush you

and leave you with no way to recover.

Why...?

I'll get the door. Think carefully.

Who is it?

Gan Yang?

Mr. Gan?

Go clarify on all major platforms now.

Why should he?

He got injured wearing your shoes...

You should publicly apologize to him and compensate him.

Wu Xun,

the night before the marathon, you went to a pharmacy

for bandages and medicine.

I have the surveillance footage.

Need me to show more evidence?

I've held back from suing you

for the sake of our friendship.

But if you keep this up,

you'll ruin not only your career

but your whole life.

Mr. Gan.

At the same time, I hope that consumers

will continue to support LT's running shoe business.

I sincerely apologize to everyone.

Tong, just like you said,

Mr. Gan resolved this fast.

Good thing we secured

those minority shareholders early.

With Wu Xun's clarification,

this matter is settled.

Did he bribe Wu Xun

to change his statement?

Shoes are like Gan Yang's life.

He wouldn't fake something like this.

We've already convinced some of the minority shareholders.

Even if Gan Yang wants to veto it,

he'll have to think twice.

I'll get back to work.

[Feng Sheng]

My girlfriend and I are in Shanghai.

Free to meet tonight?

Sure, I happen to have some time.

Buddy,

your fridge is empty.

Why is there nothing in it?

Come running with me.

Cut me some slack.

I'm too tired. Can't move.

Run with me,

and dinner's on me.

What are you waiting for?

Latecomers won't get a table.

- Okay? - Sure.

Feng Sheng.

To Maldives.

Ding Zhitong.

Let me introduce you.

This is my fiancée, Yu Shangna.

Hello, nice to meet you.

I'm Ding Zhitong, his college classmate.

- I see. - Shall we head in?

Let's go.

- I've made a reservation. - Let's go.

- Sure. - Go.

I just cooked some tripe.

Okay.

You two should have some more.

The food here is delicious.

Authentic flavors.

Get her a marinated egg.

So you're having the wedding abroad?

Because my family is all abroad.

You have to come.

Of course.

I'm telling you in advance, you have to come.

Absolutely.

The custom-made wedding dress thing.

Them again? I'll take it.

It's okay. You two can catch up.

Okay.

You two make a great couple.

Good for you.

I've had enough of all this PDA.

Stop teasing me.

Tell me about you. How have you been?

I'm doing well.

I've been working on the Training Box financing deal.

The LT Group

that caused such a stir recently, right?

I read the news.

Their CEO

is Gan Yang, right?

Never thought his dad was a fraudster.

Has he ever mentioned it to you?

I've only heard him talk about his mother before,

never his father.

I thought we had no secrets.

Turns out there were things I never knew.

Have you seen him since?

Let's not talk about him.

Fair enough.

I've forgotten what happened.

Tell me how you two met.

Who would go for hot pot after running?

I ran here mainly for the hot pot.

They're having a promotion today.

Check-in rewards, you know.

Hey, where are you going?

This is the place. We're here.

What are you doing?

[Marital Status: Unmarried] You're not married.

Your company profile says you're unmarried.

During your five years at Gutong Securities,

no one has ever seen Feng Sheng.

And he's in the United States, not in Hong Kong, China!

No one has ever seen his girlfriend!

We're in a secret marriage.

Do I need to explain that to you?

I need to get to the bottom of this.

Of what?

Her parents are abroad.

Right, her family is abroad.

So we bought a place there,

planning to settle down.

Feng Sheng.

It's been a while.

It's been ages, Gan Yang.

Are you here to eat too?

Yeah.

How have you been?

When did you get back to the country?

I flew to Hong Kong, China the other day

and then flew back with my wife...

We just got back from Hong Kong, China together.

This place gives free yogurt for check-ins.

Long time no see.

You guys go ahead.

We've got things to do. We'll leave.

Sure.

What about my hot pot?

The hot pot here isn't that great.

Don't come back.

I came out to eat and run with you.

Can you cheer up a bit?

You saw it yourself.

Ding Zhitong is only engaging with you for work.

But if it affects you this much,

if it makes you this unhappy,

maybe you should keep your distance.

I know.

I was thinking the same.

What do you know? What are you thinking?

She's doing well.

I shouldn't bother her.

Tong.

Well, Gan Yang came to Hong Kong, China to look for you four years ago.

I didn't tell you

because I was jealous.

I didn't tell him and even lied,

saying we had already gotten married.

I'm sorry.

It's fine.

Whether you lied or not,

there's no chance for me and him.

That's not what I meant.

What's wrong?

Haven't been sleeping well?

I'm alright.

Want me to drive?

It's okay. We're almost there.

Tong, what's going on?

Why did you start taking sleeping pills again?

I'll stop after finishing this project.

Tell me

what really happened in Beijing.

I didn't play the emotional card with him.

I knew

you couldn't bring yourself to do it.

And what else?

I think

I softened a bit.

Did he explain

what happened after your breakup?

He tried. I stopped him.

I didn't let him explain.

I didn't want to give him the chance.

I was afraid I'd fall for him again.

I can't be with him anymore,

so I want to push him away.

Yesterday, Feng Sheng and I ran into him at the hot pot restaurant.

I let him keep believing

Feng Sheng and I are married.

Wait.

Why are you two torturing each other like this?

I just want him to give up completely

and leave my life for good.

You know what,

Part of me really wants

to secure the Training Box deal

and become MD.

But part of me

wants his dream to come true more.

Tong,

his dream of making shoes

has already come true.

Back in college,

he told me about his dream of the shoe matrix.

In Beijing, I accompanied him to meet many clients.

At that time, watching him move towards his dream,

I was truly happy for him.

That's why forcing this financing now

feels less like helping him

and more like destroying his dream.

It's okay. Don't worry about me.

I'll sort myself out.

Don't worry.

Who is it?

Why are you here?

To talk to you about Tong.

Come in.

I'll keep it short.

After you broke up with Tong,

she couldn't sleep all night,

suffering from insomnia and depression until she was hospitalized.

You should've seen her.

Skin and bones.

Nearly lost herself completely.

I failed her.

I'm not here to guilt-trip you.

Song Mingmei, actually...

Save it.

Whatever your reasons,

the harm is done.

For so many years,

she's struggled to get through it.

Before you reappeared,

she finally started eating and sleeping well.

Focusing on her work,

she was soon promoted to director.

When she first found out that you were behind

the Training Box project,

she didn't want to take it on at all.

But her boss said

she had to take this project

to be promoted to MD.

Is there anything I can do for her now?

I hope you'll stay out of her life.

Since meeting you,

she's been back on sleeping pills.

Gan Yang, Tong can live well without you.

Please, let her quit your project.
