we've been through a lot.

Reuniting
with the wolf pack

is definitely a major thing
about coming back.

But along with the wolf pack,
I have missed my cats.

How was Browntown?

It was good.

Was it like
a ghost town?

It was, but it felt like
we were coming home.

Going back to Alaska,
for myself, I definitely found what I needed to find.

I don't know if I've ever
seen things as clear as I do right now.

The wolf pack needs me,
and I, most definitely, need them.

The wolf pack
is reunited

and hoping to bring
North Star Ranch back to life.

While the main house
exterior is complete,

the interior is months away
from being livable.

With most of the family
living in town following their devastating fire,

progress on the ranch
has slowed.

Making matters worse,
father Billy's health is in decline.

Billy isn't
feeling well.

Billy's physical heart
is weak, but Billy's bush heart,

which is essence of who he is,
is stronger than ever.

He will conquer this.
I have no doubt in my mind.

You know,
Dad's definitely feeling bad.

He needs to start feeling
better, and the fire pretty much left us desolate

so severely,
it's gonna take a lot to rebuild.

And we're staying in town.

Town is the worst.

We're not going to get
anything done if we're fighting the roads

to get up and we're fighting
the roads to get down.

We've got to get
back up there.

That's people, that's animals,
and you get back up there and get back at it.

- You went somewhere?
- It was good.

Wish you all could've gone,
honestly.

It was that fun.

She ran really good.

They did rename her,
but she sounds the same.

She still
has the integrity heart,

and when we took her
out of the ocean, she was doing just fine.

I am so proud.

We got the integrity
that I'm about to bust.

But right now,
it's so important to stay focused on mountain.

You know, it's time to
get something going again and make some progress.

You know, this is an
old legacy for me,

this is a multigenerational
dream.

One day we're going
to wake up and I'll be gone.

When that day comes,
this ranch has to sustain the family,

and it's going to be the ranch
that actually makes our family what it is

and gives us the freedom
and independence we fought for all our lives.

Very short period of time,
we were talking about dip lines and getting gold.

The dream is still there,
but we need to get back on mountain.

Build shacks close by.

Are you thinking
about doing like a teepee-style thing or...

I was thinking
that we could tent it.

Billy's vision
is to clear land near the main house

and erect a cluster of tents
allowing the Brown siblings to quickly repopulate

the mountain as a Boomtown
and continue the rebuild of their ranch as a wolf pack.

It's been really
hard just not being able to stay on the mountain,

all of us being together
like we always have,

that's when the Browns
are at their best.

The whole key to this
Boomtown is the family working together.

It put us closer,
better than easy.

One generator
to another 25 generators.

As soon as
we get up here, the better.

I'm not backtracking
and building trapper shacks

and living in little cabins
or tiny houses or tents or teepees.

I'll build my house.

I don't know,
but I'm building the house. I'm not gonna

take time building
some other little things.

Well, my grand vision
for the mountain hasn't really changed at all.

It's, uh, it's to have
a self-sustaining ecosystem

and permaculture paradise
on top of the mountain.

That's been the idea
since we got here.

That's going to continue
to be the idea until it actually happens.

better than any of us

the inevitable, if you spend
enough time in town, you do lose a part of yourself.

We belong on the mountain.

We belong with the trees
and the wolves and the bears.

Before
constructing tents for their base camp,

the siblings must clear
20,000 square feet of land

just beside
their parents' main house.

with the burned ones

and then work our way
on from there.

feels pretty good to be back at the ranch and getting

the blood flowing again
and actually building up the ranch again,

'cause we came so close
to losing it all with the fire.

It just feels really
awesome to be back

and be able to be
working on it again.

I think
the idea to do a Boomtown

is to get back to kind of
how things were in Alaska.

Just have a little camp
where everybody is, everybody is close.

I think it's what we need for right now.

I picked the worst spot.

There are definitely
gonna be people who'd be like,

"You're moving up in a tent
in winter?"

That's who we are.

I joke that
I'm half penguin.

We love the cold.

Where's Gabe

There's a chainsaw down there,
if you want to grab that

these widow-makers over here.

Further up
mountain, Bam begins

the first steps of repairing
his own land after the wildfire.

He recruits brother Gabe
for help removing dead fire damaged trees and stumps.

Bird, Rain, and I,
we were talking about

if I go and help Bam
with some of his projects,

I guess he has some trees
to buck up, that'll give him a little bit

more free time to help us
put up Boomtown.

It's kind of that, you know,
left hand helping

the right hand to-to scratch
the back or something.

I don't think that's a saying,
but that's what I'm doing now.

Couple good methods
to clearing brush.

One, the single throw pick-up.

Thusly.

And then there's
the Gabey-patented brush roller 1000,

highly controversial,
somewhat sought-after technique.

At first, you're just
stackin' them.

And then before you know it,
you have enough to start rolling them.

Then once you start rolling
them, pretty soon you have a giant bundle of brush.

One clean sweep.

It's not just, you know,
doing something for Bam

so that he'll help us
put up Boomtown, like,

I think that it's important
right now

that we all come together
as a family unit,

even if something
we're doing could be done with one person.

I think we need
to pull back together.

Especially with the fire,
we need to accomplish things

and the only way we're going
to do that is

if we all do it together,
and together spells Bam.

I mean, it doesn't actually,
but... you know.

Oh, yeah.
So, it's a bush bath there.

You come out smelling
like pine cones, pine cones and squirrel dung.

are working to reestablish a base camp

on their mountain ranch,
but sister Bird receives

a devastating call
from down mountain.

has bad seizure problems.

very important part of the family.

When we first got him,
it was very special

if we were getting a dog.

Him and I had
a very close bond.

I was nine when we got him.

I promised her last night,
Rainy could name the dog.

Mr. Cupcake.

Cupcake, hey, Cup.

Uh, guys,
Cupcake's swimming to us.

He's helping.

That is a loyal dog.

I think
he'll like this spot.

That way he can overlook
everything and see the sunset.

Mr. Cupcake
is a really important member of the family,

so we picked this
grave site for him.

It kind of overlooks
everything and it's right next close to the house

for people who want to pay
their respects, and it's a good spot.

I still can't
believe he's gone.

Lot of good times
with him, though.

I mean, we had
so many good times.

He was certainly
a happy and stubborn dog.

I just really enjoyed
how spirited Mr. Cupcake was.

Any time I take off
running, he would just latch behind me,

wouldn't let me run at all.

A lot of good memories
with the pup, it really, it really was.

Uh, guys,
that's, like, solid rock.

I'm trying to dig
it out a little bit

so we can get our picks
around it and lift it up.

I think
we'll get through it.

It looks like it's budging.

I mean, heck,
we want to be miners, right?

It's just practice.

We have a lot
in store to do.

And I'm a little bit
worried that we won't be able to get everything done.

But the top priority
is working on Cuppie's gravesite.

Two people hold,
the rest of us get down there with hands.

Well, Mr. Cupcake
meant a lot to everybody,

which is why it's important
for us all to stick together.

I'm definitely determined
to just keep pushing for Mr. Cupcake.

It is getting dark,
but I would like to keep going

if everybody else is good
just until we get it.

You know, guys,
if there's anything

to work into the night for,
I'd say this would be it.

It's very unexpected,
the news about Cuppie.

No one had time to,
to grieve over the loss

of the majority
of our property and now we lose Cupcake.

I'll make him a nice coffin.

We'll put him to rest.

I decided to build
Mr. Cupcake's coffin,

my personal way of saying
goodbye to him.

The top of it's actually
a bunch of old fence pieces.

The base is actually
an apple box

and some handles
that makes it a lot easier to move.

It's really important
to be able to give

Mr. Cupcake the resting place
that he deserves.

He was there for,
obviously, the Opal, for Browntown,

for Mom's cancer.

He's a part of the wolf pack.

Every time I stop,
it kind of hits me, to be honest.

For the first few months
that we had him, I-I did his training.

Cupcake, bow.

Out of the way.

His training lacked
when he was older, but he was a good puppy.

Shake.

Good boy.

He and I kind of
grew apart.

I always figured that
I'd have time to someday be able to kind of

take him out for walks
and kind of retrain him up again.

But it turns out we don't have
as much time as we think.

I really wish
you could eat the snow and it didn't taste burnt.

At the moment,
I'm just trying to keep my mind off of everything

that's happening, you know.

Well, playing in the snow
is something Cupcake and I always loved to do.

I'd bury him
and he would even help me dig

when I'd make my igloos
and holes and stuff.

And so playing
in the snow is just,

I don't know, it's a way
to remember him and honor him.

There is some
tiny little prints.

You might be deer.

Hey, you look like deer.

And he's gone this way.

Actually, it looks like
there's a lot of prints.

When I see paw prints
in the snow, my first thought is Cuppie, of course,

but then I'm like,
"No, it can't be Cuppie."

Like I thought, maybe coyote,
but then looking closer, I don't know what it is.

He went in the woods.

Some of it even looks old.

He went down this way.

It's headed towards
Rain's house.

It's definitely canine prints,
and it's not coyote

'cause their prints are
a lot thinner.

It's definitely not normal
just to find dog prints, especially, like, down here.

I was thinking maybe
a hunter, but there,

again, there would
be people prints as well.

Wait.

It looks like little ears.

I don't want to scare him.

I think he left.

It looks like he ran off.

But I...
I think this is a dog.

Like, we're a long way
from anything

and I'm just very confused
on where a dog would have come from.

I've come to Rain's house
and right in front of me

is this little,
cute little dog.

And then all of a sudden,
it's gone and it's like,

how is there a dog
on the mountain?

I mean, if there's a stray dog
up here, like,

he's definitely going to be
hungry.

He's going to be cold.

I'm going to open Rain's door
because it's warmer in there

'cause he won't be laying
on the ground,

and then I'm going to get
some food for him.

It definitely feels
like a coincidence.

We just lost Mr. Cupcake.

Is Cuppie trying
to tell me something?

Or is this coming straight
from my imagination?

With Mr. Cupcake's burial set for the following day,

assemble the first tent for their campsite.

But an unexpected injury has the duo shorthanded.

To say that I sustained quite
a few injuries in my life would be an understatement.

But this newest one
is my shoulder.

It was fine before,
but I woke up with one of those,

like instantaneous, just boom.

But we don't

Noah and I work well
together under certain circumstances,

right now where I really want to throw myself into a tent.

Logistically, it doesn't
make sense to put up a silly tent,

really just trying to stick
to my guns of having something that is real

and permanent
and awesome and not a tent.

Rain's road, I saw, like, a dog peeking out.

it's a little bit of a coincidence

It's almost unbelievable that

And so I want to reunite
this dog with his owner, because even if

Bird has a lead to reunite
the lost dog with its owner.

a missing dog poster and I'm like,

we have on the mountain."

His name was, ironically,
Bear, and it's time for Bear to go home.
