or something, they liberate
a village, the people hide

from you and throw rocks
and everything else,

bottles and all that to you.

But when the Viet Cong
come to liberate a village,

the people go out there
yelling, celebrating,

holding pictures of Ho Chi Minh.

And, you know, seeing things
like this makes you wonder just

who this monster really is?

if America could bring equality

and democracy to the
yellow people of Vietnam

when they've never brought

before we begin to preach

and leave our country to spread
the word, that we better clean

up our own mess at home.

that you took a stand

and refused to kill in Vietnam.

for is to be free.

they would understand

and then they would make
all people come together

and all people would be free.

And he waited for the
answer because he thought

that the government
once they heard

that idea would be
really eager and do it.

And the answer came back and
the answer of course was no,

that he had to stay
in the hospital,

that nobody could see him,
that he just had to stay there

and he couldn't understand.

And then suddenly, he did.

Suddenly, he saw.

He had a vision of himself,
as a new kind of Christ,

as a man who carries
within himself all the seeds

of a new order of things.

He was the new Messiah of the
battlefields saying to people,

"As I am, so shall you be."

And with it, he understood it.

secret and in denying him,

Hiroshima is being dropped

in terms of bomb
tonnage on Laos, Cambodia

and Vietnam each week, 2
and a half times Hiroshima.

That's a terrifying
thing to recognize

that there are babies being born
with flippers instead of hands,

with soft skulls, with no
tear ducts, with soft palates,

because the things that
our government is dropping

on that country.

Their crops are being destroyed,

their animals are
being destroyed,

their water supply
is being polluted.

There are areas where people
will never be able to live again

and it's our government
which is doing it,

the American government
and our names.

The soldiers know this.

The soldiers that
are loading the bombs

and the planes know it.

The soldiers that are working
on the flight lines know it.

The pilots know it.

The reconnaissance, the photo
reconnaissance experts know it.

The men who are waging the
war from Okinawa, from Japan,

from the Philippines, from
Hawaii, from the attack--

nuclear attack aircraft
carriers, they know it

and they're beginning to say no.

We will not load bombs anymore.

We will not kill
Vietnamese people anymore

and we're beginning
to ask ourselves why

and in whose interest
are we here.

>> The following demands
represent the feelings

of hundreds of Americans
servicemen and women

on Iwakuni Base as well
as the wives and families

of servicemen at these Base.

We can no longer remain
silent about the atrocities

and injustice being perpetrated
by the United States military

on peoples of other nations.

No other petty harassment, the
servicemen and women are made

to endure day after day.

the discriminating policies

against persons because
of their race.

to all discrimination

against
such as anti-war GIs

because they do not
agree with US policies.

Japanese people be authorized

to search Iwakuni Base
to determine the truth

about nuclear weapons
on this base.

>> We demand that no plane
leaving Marine Corps Air Station

Iwakuni be allowed to
fly to Southeast Asia

for any reason whatsoever.

Iwakuni Base be given back

to the Japanese people
and stop being run

by the imperialistic
American government.

immediate and total withdrawal

of all air and ground troops
in CIA from Vietnam as well

as in Korea, Guam, Okinawa,
Japan, the Philippines, Israel,

Cambodia, Thailand,
Germany, England, Panama,

Guantanamo Bay--

But if you destroy our peace,
if you take away our work,

if you try to rage us
one against the other,

we will know what to do.

If you tell us to make the
world safe for democracy,

we will take you
seriously and by God

and by Christ, we
will make it so.

We will use the guns
you forced upon us.

We will use them to defend
our very lives and the menace

to our lives does not
lie on the other side

of a no man's lands set
apart without our consent.

It lies within our
own boundaries here.

And now we've seen
it and we know it.

Put the guns into our
