GENTLE MUSIC
NARRATOR: Around and along, in the middle of somewhere,
lives a little sound collector.
NARRATOR CHUCKLES Ah, yes, and his best friend, Mole.
HE CHUCKLES Ooh! Cold!
HE SHIVERS Putting in his hearing aids,
the Sound Collector starts to hear the world around him.
WAVE OF SOUND SWELLS
NARRATOR CHUCKLES
Mole always finds the warmest spot on a chilly autumn morning.
MOLE SNUFFLES
MOLE MUNCHING
It's the Seed Collector.
Someone seems excited to see her.
Maybe she wants to go and visit.
Well, they'll have to hurry.
The Seed Collector sleeps through the winter.
And the winter is on its way.
NARRATOR CHUCKLES Come on, Mole.
HE CHUCKLES
WAVE OF SOUND SWELLS
Ah, listen. WATER WHEEL CREAKS
WILDLIFE CHITTERING
Someone's getting ready for winter.
Time to go and find the Seed Collector.
And maybe a few sounds along the way.
MOLE SNUFFLES, CRISP CRUNCH OF LEAVES
Ah, it's the sound of autumn, all right.
SOFT BIRDSONG, MOLE RUSTLING
So where is that Seed Collector?
Ah, her house.
MOLE GRUNTS
SOFT SNORING
Hm.
It sounds like they're too late.
Fast asleep. Sorry, Mole.
She's already hibernating.
Let's come back in the spring, when she wakes up.
WOODEN THUMP
Uh-oh!
Oh, dear! Mole!
MOLE SNUFFLES
DOOR CREAKS
Uh! Sorry.
NARRATOR CHUCKLES What is she like?
HAPPY SNUFFLES
What now?
HEBE BUZZES
Hebe seems pretty happy about being woken up.
MOLE GRUNTS, HEBE BUZZES
THEY GIGGLE Uh! Sorry about this.
Now she'll never get back to sleep.
MOLE AND HEBE SNUFFLING AND BUZZING
Ah.
MOLE SNIFFS
Food. Always the answer.
MUNCHING Delicious.
SHE YAWNS
Oh. What's this?
TAPE WHIRRS, SHE YAWNS
Of course. A lullaby. That'll calm things down a bit.
Yes. Time to hibernate.
Again.
So glad they got to see each other before winter.
Sleep tight.
BUZZY LITTLE SNORES
Hebe's out like a light.
DEEP SNORES Ah, that's more like it.
Huh?
Oh, I see. Mole's decided to hibernate too.
Hm. Now all he has to do is get her home.
SHE SNORES
Yes, home. Sweet, warm, happy home.
