NARRATOR: Around and along, in the middle of somewhere,

lives a little sound collector.

Ah, yes. And his best friend, Mole.

MOLE SCAMPERS

Putting in his hearing aids,

the Sound Collector starts to hear the world around him.

WAVE OF SOUND SWELLS

MOLE GRUNTS

TOY SQUEAKS Somebody wants to play!

NARRATOR CHUCKLES Oh, all right.

SWITCH CLICKS

WAVE OF SOUND SWELLS

BIRDSONG

WHEEL CLANKING, WATER SPLASHING

BIRDSONG, DISTANT CHURCH BELLS

Ah, there are so many amazing sounds in the world.

TOY SQUEAKS

Like Mole. Itching to play fetch.

MOLE SNUFFLES

Off you go.

MOLE GRUNTS WITH EXCITEMENT

NARRATOR CHUCKLES She's always on the ball.

Well done. Uh-oh! DOG PANTING

TOY SQUEAKS

GIRL: Cody, come! Come on!

Oh! It's the little girl. And she's playing with her dog.

DOG PANTS Aw, a happy dog making happy sounds.

DOG PANTS EXCITEDLY Go fetch it, then!

Mole doesn't seem too happy though. Good boy!

MOLE GRUMBLES Oh, dear. Come back, Mole!

Fetch it!

GIRL WHISTLES, DOG PANTS

I think the dog saw him.

THE SOUND COLLECTOR PANTS

Now, where could she be?

CLATTERING ABOVE

Hm.

MOLE WHIMPERS

Aw, she really wasn't happy about seeing that dog.

Nope. She's not coming out.

BOWL RATTLES

Food! Bound to cheer Mole up.

SPOON TAPPING A happy sound if ever there was one.

Aw, hello, you. MOLE SNUFFLES

SHE SIGHS SADLY

Oh.

Poor Mole. She's even off her food.

Ah, a little music of the sea, perhaps.

TAPE WHIRRS

If the sound of the dog unsettled her,

perhaps the sound of the seaside can cheer her up.

GULLS CRYING, MOLE WHIMPERS

But then again...

MOLE MOANS SADLY

Yes! Remember this, Mole?

Oh. Mole's never been like this before.

SHE WHIMPERS SORROWFULLY

Looks like she wants to stay here all day.

HE PLAYS AN UPLIFTING TUNE

Happy music. That's the thing.

Yes. I think she likes it.

HE HONKS THE HORN

HORN LANDS WITH A PARP

Nearly.

HE SIGHS

BALL SQUEAKS

INTERESTED LITTLE GRUNT

Ah, maybe her favourite sound from her favourite toy.

BALL SQUEAKS, SHE GRUNTS EXCITEDLY

That did the trick!

NARRATOR CHUCKLES

Some things are impossible to resist.

Ah. Back where it all started.

It's like the little girl has her very own Mole as a best friend.

Cody, sit! It has its own favourite toy.

Just like Mole.

Go fetch it, then. BIG BALL THUMPS
