in the middle of somewhere...

lives a little sound collector.

SOFT SNORING

Ah, yes, and his best friend, Mole.

RUSTLING Putting in his hearing aids,

the Sound Collector starts to hear the world around him.

WAVE OF SOUND SWELLS

HE SIGHS CONTENTEDLY, MOLE SNORING

Aw. Someone's still asleep.

SHARP, PINCHY WHISTLE

MOLE COOING Ah. Morning, Mole.

MOLE GRUNTING

HE BLOWS THE WHISTLE Ah. It must be mole training.

NARRATOR CHUCKLES Stay.

MOLE SNIFFING, GRUNTING

SOUND COLLECTOR GIGGLES

MOLE SNIFFS

So well behaved...

NARRATOR CHUCKLES ..for a treat.

DISTANT WHISTLE HOOTS, THEY GASP

Hmm. That was a very different whistle.

MOLE COOING

One that needs investigating.

SOFT MUSIC

See you later.

Ah. This is awkward. She's still waiting for her treat.

SWITCH CLICKS, BIRDS CHIRPING

WIND WHISTLES, BIRD COOS

Ah. There's a noise we all love.

SOUND COLLECTOR COOS

WATER WHEEL CLANKING

WHISTLE BLOWING IN DISTANCE

There's that whistle again. Somewhere over there.

He must find that amazing sound.

ENGINE WHIRRING

What is it?

Oh, look! An old steam train. What a beauty.

GEARS CLANKING What magnificent sounds.

METALLIC GRINDING

STEAM HISSES, NARRATOR LAUGHS

And impressive steam.

MOLE COOING

Well she stayed a lot longer than I thought she would.

GRUNTING, SNUFFLING

I don't think that's really for a mole.

Hmm. What is she doing?

MOLE COOS

GRUNTING CONTINUES

BLOWING WHISTLE Oh!

OK. She's mole-training herself now.

NARRATOR CHUCKLES Ah.

And now for the treat. MOLE MUNCHES

SOUND MUFFLES

DOORS CLANK

GEARS CLUNK

STEAM HISSES

BLOWS WHISTLE Oh. Another whistle.

The train must be about to leave. All aboard!

BELL DINGS, WHISTLE BLOWS

Ha-ha! There it is! There's the big whistle he heard earlier.

STEAM HISSING, GEARS CLANKING

That's it! Heave!

ENGINE CHUGGING

Listen to that engine chugging and groaning.

Heading to some far-away place.

So many great new sounds for his collection.

He's had a brilliant... Oh! Where'd he go?

TRAIN WHISTLE BLOWS

ENGINE WHIRRING ON TAPE

Ah. Home. MOLE GRUNTING

BELL DINGS, TRAIN WHISTLE BLOWS

Ah, the whistle's made her sit.

MOLE SNIFFS, COOS

She thinks she deserves a treat.

MOLE COOING

Er, where have all the treats gone?

SOUND COLLECTOR CHUCKLES

MOLE SNUFFLING Mole! Come back!

NARRATOR CHUCKLES That mole is untrainable.
