NARRATOR: Around and along, in the middle of... somewhere,

lives a little Sound Collector.

Oh, yes, and his best friend, Mole.

Putting in his hearing aids,

the Sound Collector starts to hear the world around him.

WAVE OF SOUND SWELLS

MOLE SNORES

MOLE GRUNTS

SOUND COLLECTOR GIGGLES

Right.

Ready to record some wonderful new sounds for his collection.

SWITCH CLICKS, BIRDS CHIRP

WATERWHEEL CLANKS, WATER BABBLES

BIRDS CHIRP

Yes. The world is full of amazing noises.

CHUCKLES Like Mole. Busy doing what moles do.

MOLE GRUNTS, CLATTERING

MOLE GRUNTS, SNIFFS

Bye, Mole. I'm sure he'll be back for lunch.

SNIFFS

Hm. What's she up to?

Carrots.

That one's huge.

MOLE SNIFFS, GRUNTS

Maybe too big for one Mole. GRUNTS

GASPS

Hm. Ha!

GLASS CHIMES Musical milk bottles.

TAPE RECORDER WHIRRS

GLASS CHIMING MELODY

DOOR OPENS, CLOSES

What's that noise? CHILD SIGHS

SNIFFLES, SIGHS

Oh. GROANS

Someone seems really sad.

CHILD SIGHS

Some sounds are hard to listen to.

SEAGULLS CALLING

Now, what can he see?

What a sad-looking teddy bear.

Maybe it's lost.

Hm...

GRUNTS, EXHALES

It looks like the Sound Collector is the bear's friend for now.

Not hungry, huh?

Maybe he can find something the teddy bear does like.

What about the babble of a stream?

WATER SPLASHING

Hm. Maybe not.

ENGINE RUMBLING

Or a tractor ride?

Hm?

I guess that's a no.

A hungry Mole never gives up. STRAINS

GRUNTS, OBJECTS SHATTER

Oops! WHINES

Yes. The Sound Collector is showing the little teddy bear the sights...

TRAIN CHUGGING

..and the sounds of the world he loves.

CHUGGING CONTINUES

Maybe some sounds will cheer him up.

The musical milk bottles. GLASS CHIMING MELODY

CHILD SIGHS, SNIFFLES

Oh! BEAR SIGHS

And the little girl. She was sad today, too.

I wonder...

GLASS CHIMING MELODY

FOOTSTEPS APPROACHING

CHILD GASPS Ah, he was right.

The teddy bear did need to find his happy.

And so did the little girl.

Time to find his best friend.

Mole. PANTING

But she doesn't look very happy now.

A carrot? Awkward.

I'm not sure that will cheer her up.

NARRATOR LAUGHS

But then again...
