[Fighting for love]

[Episode 29]

Qi Min.

Why are you here?

Didn't I tell you

not to come and serve me?

I'm afraid you'll be thirsty after waking up,

so I came to serve tea and waited here.

Father, have some tea.

Father.

Father.

When I got the news that you were ill

and couldn't eat or sleep well,

I wanted to visit you many times,

but that eunuch stopped me outside.

Really detestable!

Deng Gao…

What did you do to him?

Father!

Father!

Father.

Don't worry, Father.

Although he offended me,

I knew

he was the most important person to you.

I didn't do anything to him.

I just let him sleep some more,

seeing his health condition.

Those guards

are all from noble families.

How many of them can endure the hardships of being in the army?

There are always some who are too fond of play.

I just catered

to their pleasure.

Sit down and talk.

Father.

I'm here to let you know

that in this world,

no one is reliable

except me.

I have always been

loyal to you.

What on earth is your intention?

Father, there's something you don't know.

My good brother and brother-in-law

pretended to be pregnant

just to get the position of the crown prince.

They found a random child to fake it.

They

have been lying to you and the whole court until now.

That is impossible.

I have proof.

Father.

I brought the evidence

to confront the crown prince.

I couldn't believe the crown prince risked his life to protect his son.

Then, the crown princess went with the crown prince.

Father,

the news has spread.

Everyone knows it.

Father, you...

Don't you think it's strange?

It must be the people around you.

They were afraid that you would be scared again,

so they kept it from you.

Father.

There are many rumors

in the court.

People are jittery.

I worry about what you worry about

and meet your needs.

I came here

to wash the brush and grind the ink for you personally.

It only…

only takes a few strokes

to stabilize the foundation of Nanxia.

I

volunteer!

I'd like to thrust myself forward to face the challenge!

Father! Father!

Qi Min,

why should I pass the throne to you?

Father.

The crown prince is dead.

Qi Yu is not even part of the royal bloodline.

Father.

If you don't pass it to me,

to whom will you pass it?

Father! Father!

Who let you in?

Your Majesty.

I

will pass the throne to Qi Huan.

I am his only son.

His only son!

And he wants to pass the throne to Qi Huan?

Is he too old to be sensible?

Calm down, Your Highness.

His Majesty is still alive.

He hasn't issued a decree to pass the throne yet.

It's not decided yet.

The Eldest Princess!

It must be Princess Shenghua who's behind it.

If it weren't for her,

Father wouldn't have wanted to pass the throne to Qi Huan.

Your Highness.

Even so,

we can't touch Princess Shenghua now.

We are already battered by criticism for the crown prince's death.

If we were to be so cruel,

the ministers wouldn't come

and pledge loyalty to you.

That woman tried so hard to make His Majesty

pass the throne to her son.

She also instigated Lord Zeng.

She is clearly

targeting me.

Even if Princess Shenghua intends to seize the crown,

Your Highness is a legitimate heir.

If you want to ascend the throne,

you just need to calm down, win over the officials,

and gain popularity.

Then, the throne will be at your disposal.

The more you do now, the more mistakes you'll make.

What if I kidnap her?

Your Highness is wise.

If we can capture Princess Shenghua,

Shang Yizhi and the Zhenbei Army

will be under Your Highness's control.

Nonsense!

Didn't you understand what I said?

I think Shen Tingyuan is right.

At this point,

in troubled times, we must rule with an autocracy.

After I wipe out all those who oppose me,

the throne will be mine naturally.

When I ascend the throne,

will I still worry that no one will come to pledge loyalty to me?

Marquis Dingnan has a military background.

He is not easy to handle.

Even if you want to,

you have to know what you are capable of.

Master Pang, talk nicely.

Why do you have to be so aggressive?

Besides, you've gone too far as a servant.

I only know that as a servant,

since I look to my master for backing,

I have to do my best to remonstrate with my master and offer my advice,

especially when my master is making a mistake.

Then, Master Pang, what's your plan?

What we should do now is to do nothing

so as not to provide a pretext for others.

Master Pang, you mean

I can only watch Princess Shenghua

send her son to the throne?

Master Pang, you are so considerate towards Princess Shenghua

and always protect Marquis Dingnan.

Which boat are you on?

Calm down, Your Highness.

We all know

Master Pang is loyal to you.

Others can be disloyal,

but never Master Pang.

Master Pang's foresight

must be for your great cause.

Are you telling me I should let Princess Shenghua get her way

for the sake of my great cause?

Master Pang,

you always told me

that when I do great things,

I must endure the unbearable things for ordinary people,

that I must calm down

and win over the people to accumulate my popularity,

that the more I do,

the more mistakes I'll make.

In the end, I am forced into a corner.

My father

doesn't even want to look at me anymore.

I always thought

you could truly understand the way of being a monarch.

Now I realize

it was just my daydream

and my wishful thinking.

What did you say?

I mean...

I finally understand

why your father

would rather give the throne to an outsider

than pass it to you.

Master Pang!

Guards.

Yes.

Put Master Pang in prison.

Go!

Your Highness.

Master Pang…

He did it for Your Highness's good.

Find someone.

Do it.

[Wise eyes have boundless insight]

Tell me,

how could Yizhi fall for General Mai?

Don't worry, Your Highness.

I think

Young Marquis was just bewitched for now.

Really?

Your Highness, you're just too worried to think clearly.

Although Young Marquis used to be a playboy

and went to the Emerald Pavilion

every day under your instructions,

that was only for outsiders to see.

Chunniang has run the Emerald Pavilion

very well.

I'll say something I shouldn't say.

It's just because Young Marquis couldn't even touch

a woman's skirt

that he is so mesmerized by a woman now.

Yes, I was too strict.

Maybe after the initial surge of interest,

plus General Mai's short temper,

the days they quarrel are coming.

I think your plan to let Miss Lin

marry Young Marquis in advance

is indeed a great idea.

Miss Lin is virtuous.

She will surely be able to attract Young Marquis.

Yes.

Now,

I have to bow down first.

As the old saying goes,

children are parents' debts.

I remember

Young Marquis likes the desserts from Liuyue Bakery the most.

Would you like to have a look, Your Highness?

Yes, let's.

Thank you.

Come again if you like it.

Did you upset Her Highness again?

Is it so obvious?

Every time you upset Her Highness,

you bought the same cake.

Everyone can see that.

But I used the same cake

to make her happy again every time.

I don't understand

what's so good about it.

It's one thing whether it's good.

It is another thing whether you buy it or not.

But…

if it's not tasty, why would she forgive you?

What they care about

is not the thing per se,

but your attitude.

Wait.

What does this have to do with the attitude?

Mu Bai,

you are hopeless.

Remember this.

In Shengdu City,

no one knows women better than me.

Women?

What does this have to do with women?

Your Grace.

Have you seen my mother?

Your Grace.

Her Highness left the mansion at noon. She hasn't come back until now.

Where did she go?

I don't know.

But Her Highness rarely stayed outside at this hour.

I'm worried, too.

I see.

Princess Shenghua has not been back yet?

No.

This has never happened to my mother.

Young Marquis.

Young Marquis.

Constable Chen has something important to report.

Young Marquis.

I received a report an hour ago.

[Marquis Dingnan]

We found a male body in his fifties

in the dark alley.

Young Marquis,

I've checked it.

That male body

was Mr. Liu, who drove the cart for Her Highness.

What?

Then Mother…

This matter

is related to the safety of Princess Shenghua.

Please keep it a secret, Constable Chen.

Yes.

Butler Gui.

Yes.

Gather all the servants

to go and look for Princess Shenghua.

Let's go.

Let's go.

You're awake.

Your Highness, are you all right?

Your Highness.

I'm fine.

Who is so bold

that he even dares to kidnap the Eldest Princess?

Don't panic, Your Highness.

I will get you out of here.

Don't waste your energy.

I've checked.

The surroundings are sealed.

But don't worry.

Now that he's kidnapped us,

he won't hide for too long.

He will appear

when it's time.

Okay.

I'll accompany you.

You two go this way. The rest of you, follow me.

-Search! -Yes! Yes!

Madam.

Excuse me.

Have you seen someone this tall?

Have you seen someone this tall?

Excuse me.

Have you seen

a woman who's about this tall

coming from that direction?

Go!

Open the door.

I need to talk to Master Pang.

You may leave.

Yes.

Master Pang, you're still calm even when in prison.

I admire you very much.

What brings you here?

His Highness was too angry

and didn't understand your good intentions.

Please take care of yourself.

In the future, His Highness's great cause

will rely on you, Master Pang.

Where is His Highness?

He has taken Princess Shenghua

to meet Marquis Dingnan.

By seizing Princess Shenghua, His Highness now has the advantage.

As long as he can win

and become happy,

he will definitely pardon me.

If he loses,

I'm afraid I'll die.

These days,

I've learned

how to be a courtier from you, Master Pang.

In the future,

I'm afraid I won't have such a chance.

I'm going back to Beimo.

Going back to Beimo?

Where can you get the passport?

I'm here to thank you.

Only because of you

can I have my wish fulfilled and go back home.

Who harmed me?

His Majesty wants to see you off.

Master Pang.

Goodbye.

Young Marquis.

We have searched many times

but got no clue at all.

Keep searching.

Don't worry.

We will find Princess Shenghua.

Today

is the first time the Vanguard Battalion of the Zhenbei Army has formed an array.

You're all elite soldiers

that I picked from all the soldiers.

From now on, the Vanguard Battalion

will be the first camp of the Zhenbei Army.

What's our slogan?

Only advance; never retreat.

Live without fear of death.

Good.

Did you see whose guards they are?

I haven't seen them before.

What time is it now?

It was just dawn.

I guess it's about 5 o'clock.

Your Highness.

Let me help you get some rest.

It's okay.

You go and rest.

Save your strength.

I'm fine.

But when have Your Highness suffered like this?

Your Highness, hang in there.

Young Marquis will definitely come to save you.

That's what I'm worried about.

[Prince Kang's Mansion]

Aunt?

You damn fools.

How can you treat my aunt like this?

Aunt.

Aunt.

Why aren't you surprised to see me?

Among all the people in Nanxia, who dares to do this to me

except you, the heartless and ungrateful rascal?

You have a point.

In that case,

you should know

why I invited you here.

If you want to threaten my son with me,

I advise you not to court your doom.

Aunt,

you really love my cousin.

I really envy him.

Unfortunately, the dog sent by your good son

has followed me since the moment I left the mansion.

Aunt.

Try and touch him.

Aunt, you misunderstood.

Shang Yizhi is my cousin, after all.

I'm soft-hearted,

and I decide to spare his life.

But I'm about to ascend the throne.

I always need a few people to help me.

My cousin is not suitable

to be a general.

I still need a supervisor of eunuchs.

My cousin is perfect for it.

Aunt.

Don't worry.

I will allow him to come home often

to visit you.

Aunt?

I'm being kind.

I don't want

to see the tragedy of parents losing their children.

Aunt,

you must appreciate my kindness.

You...

Why are you laughing?

I think my father was right.

It's karma.

Retributive justice is so true.

Just laugh at me.

I'm not laughing at you.

I'm laughing at my brother.

You may not believe me,

but this scene today

is so familiar.

And compared to your father,

you're even more

vicious and shameless.

I'm just curious

what your descendants

will be like compared to you.

And what will happen to you in the end?

Well,

you don't have to worry about it.

By the way,

I

suddenly changed my mind

and decided

to trade a life for a life.

If you feel bored,

you may think about

how to make me happy

to protect your good son.

Qi Min,

don't forget

who you are.

My son, Yizhi,

is the Grand Marshal of the three armies.

He is my beloved son.

And you?

You are just

a child that my brother despises.

You've been living in the shadow of your brother

and despised by everyone in the world.

Even at this moment,

when you're confident you're going to succeed

and ascend the throne,

ask yourself:

Which one of the ministers

really respects you and wants to acknowledge you?

Don't think I won't kill you.

Your Highness.

Go.

Yes.

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty?

Your Majesty?

What time is it?

Your Majesty.

It's 9:15.

Light the brazier.

Brother Tang will lead a team

and hide in the woods outside the cabin.

Mu Bai and I will each lead a team.

We'll enter the cabin from the east and west separately.

While the cabin is in chaos,

Marshal Shang will bring his men inside to rescue Princess Shenghua.

After Marshal Shang goes in,

Brother Tang will enter it,

and then we'll besiege the cabin together.

Yes.

It's well-planned.

Let's do it that way.

We'll hurry up

and not give them a chance to react.

We can save Princess Shenghua for sure.

Young Marquis.

Your Grace,

this person works for the Second Prince.

He brought you a message from the Second Prince.

Say it.

Hello, Generals.

Marshal Shang.

My master wants to see you.

By the way,

My master also said

only Marshal Shang could go there.

If there are too many people,

my master won't be able to guarantee

the safety of Princess Shenghua.

How dare you!

No, no, no.

I am just a messenger.

Take him away first.

Go.

This is obviously a trap.

You can't go.

They want you to risk your life.

Mai.

My mother raised me when I was little.

Didn't she risk her life, too?

I'll go.

What if you are detained?

What would you do

if you were me?

If you don't return in two hours,

we'll lead the troops to attack.

Young Marquis.

Shall we… just wait?

Let's wait for a while.

Two hours is too long.

An hour?

Two hours,

as planned.

Mr. Xu.

An hour.

Okay.

An hour it is.

We'll set off

in an hour.

Yes.

Marshal Shang.

Please.

Mother.

Don't worry.

I'm here to save you.

Marquis Dingnan is really a filial son.

It's worth

my delicate plan.

Qi Min,

you only want me.

Let my mother go.

If my guess is right,

your Zhenbei Army

is approaching the mountain.

So, it's easy

to let her go.

But it's not that easy

for you to get out of this door alive.

I've put all my effort into it.

Between your mother's life and your life,

Marquis Dingnan,

choose one.

Don't forget

what I told you.

Do what you should do.

Fool!

My effort is all wasted.

Mother.

Don't call me Mother.

I never gave birth to you.

If I knew you were so useless,

why would I

take so much effort to raise you?

Aunt.

What act are you putting on?

You loser! You don't deserve to talk to me.

What?

I don't deserve it?

I don't deserve it?

Aunt,

watch your mouth.

Did I say anything wrong?

You're from a lowly background and have an average capability.

You should be bullied in the palace.

If I hadn't pitied you

and taken you to see His Majesty,

my brother had long forgotten

he had such a son.

Although the crown prince was not very talented,

but with you as a contrast,

he looked good at everything.

Besides,

he had Qi Yu.

And you?

You were even so stupid to compete for His Majesty's favor.

Didn't you look at yourself?

Shut up!

Shut up!

You killed the crown prince

with those lowly means.

So what if you kill Yizhi today?

Do you think you can win the throne?

Let me tell you,

you still can't.

Because in my brother's heart,

he loves Qi Yu the most.

In the end, you can't even beat a little kid!

Mother!

[Min]

Mother.

Mother.

Your Highness.

Do you really

have to go that far?

His Majesty wants to abdicate in favor of Yizhi.

Abdicate?

He also does it to protect the life of his grandson.

His Majesty doesn't mean it.

Even if His Majesty does this for his grandson,

how could His Majesty not know

Prince Kang could even kill his own big brother

in order to obtain the throne?

I'm afraid he just wants to divert the disaster.

How can I not know about my brother?

Whether he wants to divert the disaster

or he just loves his grandson,

whether he's sincere or not,

I will make it real,

even if it costs my life.

Your Highness, why would you go so far?

For Yizhi.

He wallows too much in the romantic love.

He won't understand if not stimulated.

What do you plan to do, Your Highness?

Prince Kang.

Your Highness wants to make use of his scheme?

If His Majesty really wants to

divert the trouble like you said,

Prince Kang will find it out soon.

Although he's ruthless,

he's not smart.

He'll risk everything when he's perturbed in mind.

Yizhi doesn't have many weaknesses.

I may be one of them.

Your Highness.

Is it worth it?

Yes.

Only a benevolent man like Yizhi

deserves the throne.

And it belonged to Yizhi in the first place.

Since you know how kind Young Marquis is,

how can you let him experience the pain of losing his mother?

How cruel.

For the people,

he has to grow up

to be a wise emperor.

Please help me

and Yizhi.

Mother.

Only...

Only by becoming an emperor

can you protect

the one you want to protect.

Do you understand?

Mother!

-Mother! -Your Highness!

Princess Shenghua.

Your Highness.

Zhenbei Army, listen to my orders.

Yes.

Set off!

Yes.
