[Fighting for love]

[Episode 25]

[Jing]

I can't believe Shang turned to crown prince.

Can you bear it?

Then don't.

It's time.

This...

Father likes Qi Yu.

Now that kid took Mai as his master

and the Crown Prince's Mansion has taken the Zhenbei Army in.

His Majesty has made up his mind.

As long as I live one more day,

Father will have less chance to change his mind.

What chance do I have?

The more stable the position of the Crown Prince's Mansion,

the less chance Your Highness will ascend the throne.

I'll use some tricks tomorrow morning during the meeting.

The foundation of Crown Prince's Mansion should be loosened.

[Jing]

[Invitation to Princess Shenghua]

Are all of these invitations for Mother to enjoy flowers?

Yes.

In these families,

there are similar girls to your age.

So I'm here to ask for your opinion.

Mother,

if you want to go for relaxation, then just go.

If it's for my marriage,

then you don't have to worry about it.

Why?

Because I

have a person in my heart.

Really?

Which family is she from?

Her parents are deceased, and they didn't hold any official positions.

Is she a commoner or an orphan?

Something happened to her family when she was young.

She grew up alone.

It has been really hard for her to come this far.

She has to pose as a man to survive.

However,

she is still innocent and kind.

Fine.

There is such a pitiful and lovely person in the world.

I sympathize with her situation.

But

a commoner can't be your legal wife.

But Mother,

she saved me twice.

Do you remember I was assassinated at the Emerald Pavilion?

If it weren't for her,

I wouldn't have made it out.

And when I arrived in Yuzhou and Qingzhou,

I was in danger several times.

But because of her help,

I survived.

Are you talking about...

It's indeed my brother, Mai.

Does a woman like Mai

not deserve to marry me?

I see.

No wonder

when you just came back to Shengdu,

Mai was so nervous to see me.

Fine.

I won't interfere with your business.

By the way,

can you ask General Mai

to have a chat with me?

Mother.

She is

used to being a man.

She's not even used to being a woman.

Let alone these complicated etiquette.

How about this?

Give her some time.

I'll make arrangements.

Fine, I'll listen to you.

Envoy Gao,

don't try to seek connections randomly.

How could my brother do

such terrible things to the country and the people?

Father,

this has nothing to do with Brother.

Please investigate this matter throughly.

Your Majesty,

I have a written letter from His Royal Highness.

I'm just worried that one day something like this will happen.

So, I risked my life to keep this letter.

Where is the letter?

[Gao, this time, it will be Xia Hongxuan from Zhou Zhou, Yang Feng from Xin Zhou and Liu Min from Ding Zhou]

[The three of them should be given positions below seventh-rank as soon as possible]

This...

Crown Prince.

My good son.

Father is wise, I am innocent.

Father is wise, I am innocent.

Prime Minister Lin's good student.

The crown prince neglected his duty

and is suspected of indulging subordinates to embezzle money for no reason.

I order you

to stay in the Crown Prince's Mansion

before this matter is verified.

Father!

Father!

Mai.

Mother promised me.

Promise what?

About our marriage.

You...

Why did you tell her?

Didn't I tell you not to tell her?

You have no idea how urgent it was.

Mother wanted someone to marry me...

No.

She wanted me to marry someone else...

No.

Anyway, she wanted me to get married.

I had no choice but to give you up.

But...

we haven't found anything about the Xuanwu Army.

I...

Now...

Mai.

If you’re not ready,

I can wait.

When you are ready,

let's visit Mother.

Young Marquis.

Something happened in the Crown Prince's Mansion.

What is it?

It is said that Imperial Censor Cao told on Envoy Gao Liu from the Bureau of Scrutiny.

He said he had solid evidence of bribery.

Gao Liu was irrefutable.

So he said it was the crown prince's idea.

It was Prince Kang again.

Return to Shengdu?

Set off immediately. As soon as possible.

You should know

you can't act without an order.

Otherwise, it will be considered as treason.

Did something happen in Shengdu?

[It's time, come back quickly]

Sir, what is this?

Marshal Shang needs us.

Did he already have a plan before he left?

He didn’t know.

I'll tell you the truth later.

But I can be sure that

if we don’t go,

Marshal Shang and Mai will die.

Forget it.

Sir, tell me, what should we do?

I've thought about it.

We'll send troops in the name of surppressing bandits.

Okay.

Tell me.

Your Highness.

His Majesty hasn't sent anyone

to ask about his grandson.

It's not a good sign.

Father is busy every day.

He just temporarily forgot.

Your Highness, don't lie to yourself.

Why don't you come up with a plan sooner?

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

So noisy.

I spoke too much.

Forgive me, Your Highness.

In your opinion,

how is the situation now?

Your Highness ordering your son to learn from General Mai

is indeed a good move.

When His Majesty issued the edict,

Marquis Dingnan also came to visit.

It shows that the generals of the Zhenbei Army

want to get closer to us.

This is a gain.

But recently, the Second Prince

has been very close to the officials.

I'm afraid someone has already offered their services to him.

This is a loss.

I think something is going to happen in the Shengdu City.

If the Second Prince took the chance to win His Majesty's heart,

we will be in danger.

For the sake of the crown princess and your son,

Your Highness should deal with it as soon as possible.

Nonsense.

As long as Yu is here,

I'll win His Majesty's heart.

Don't talk nonsense.

I've crossed the line.

I am guilty.

Your arms must be straight and flat.

Do you hear me?

Hang in there.

Young Master.

Don't help him.

Since you want to learn martial arts,

you shouldn't be that delicate and arrogant.

Get up if you fall down.

I can do it myself.

Don't come over.

Master Mai, again.

Your Highness,

I have something to do today.

May I leave?

Then teach me tomorrow.

Okay, let's practice tomorrow.

Thank you, Your Highness.

Do you like the scenery here, Cousin?

Clear water, green mountains, and music that is pleasant to the ears.

I've been immersed in the music just now.

Please don’t mind.

Don’t joke.

With your great reputation in Shengdu,

you've probably seen everything.

I haven't been back for a long time.

Sorry.

If you like it,

I'll buy this yard and give it to you.

You can't do that.

I can't accept a reward without contributions.

I heard that when you came back to Shengdu this time,

my brother

sent a lot of gifts to your mansion.

So my brother can send you gifts

but I can't?

Well...

You must have a favor to ask for coming back.

I can do whatever the crown prince can.

If there is something the crown prince can't do,

I promise,

I will do it for you in the future.

I'm very sincere.

You are a smart man.

You know how to choose.

I can only say

you probably don't understand how difficult it is for me.

I do understand.

It looks like you don’t believe what I am capable of.

No.

I heard that General Mai went to the Ministry of War

to check the lists but it didn't go well.

Is that true?

It's not that important.

It doesn’t matter if it’s sooner or later.

The Zhenbei Army is a big family.

If you can't check the list,

you will not get your pay.

They are warriors who sacrifice their lives for the country.

I can't bear to see them suffer.

Take this

to the Ministry of War and find the Primary Assistant Minister Wang Jian.

I think this will be useful.

Thank you, Second Cousin.

We are family.

No need to thank me.

I hope next time I see you,

you'll make the right decision.

Since Your Majesty knew it was Prince Kang,

why did you still punish the crown prince?

A few days ago, Yu took Mai as his master.

I've heard about it too.

But the crown prince has always been benevolent and filial piety.

This must be what Your Majesty's grandson wants.

Do you think I'll be suspicious?

I dare not.

All the princes in the royal family

are interested in this chair.

It's understandable.

What they are doing wrong is

putting all the efforts

in wining over Marquis Dingnan.

Two princes, born in the palace

and raised by women,

are interested in military power.

But they never thought about

whether they could keep

those elite soldiers under their control.

If they do it well,

It's the icing on the cake.

If they fail,

they will bring disaster upon themselves.

Both of the princes are talented.

They are the descendant of the royal families.

And with Your Majesty's suppression,

Marquis Dingnan wouldn't dare to do anything.

Prime Minister Lin,

you always say nice things.

In fact, it's the truth.

I tried to kill him many times

but he avoided.

This time, he has become the crown prince's people.

Of course, I won't let him off.

I won't let him grow.

What my second son did may be clumsy,

it doesn't hinder me from taking the chance

to teach the crown prince some lessons.

Prince Kang is ambitious.

How could His Majesty not know?

How could His Majesty not know.

He knows

about my two cousins' nature better than us.

He didn't do anything to me

because in his eyes,

I'm like a big giant grindstone.

You mean

he wants to use Prince Kang and crown prince as knife to kill you?

The reason they are trying to win us over

is because of our military power.

But have you ever thought

no matter who wins or loses,

whoever loses will kill us.

But no matter what the result is,

His Majesty will always be happy to see it.

The father and sons of this royal family are really scheming.

That's not right.

When I asked you to read The Art of War,

why didn't you have this kind of thinking?

I must have taught you seriously

but you didn't study hard.

You're good at fighting.

How could I not be serious?

It's just about my childhood experience.

Naturally, I'm aware of

the imperial strategies.

Learn something good.

I'll go to the Ministry of War

to see if the face of this second prince is useful.

Please follow me.

Thank you, Mr. Wang.

Here are the initial lists of each army when they were established.

The Qingzhou and Yuzhou Army established early.

It's a long time ago.

Do you need me to send some men here?

No need.

I can find it myself.

Thank you, Mr. Wang.

General Mai, help yourself.

[Jingyang Army]

[Record of deployment]

[Jingyang Army]

You said he entered the Ministry of War

with Prince Kang's letter?

Your Highness,

yes.

Fine. You may leave.

Your Highness.

It seems that Prince Kang has people in the Ministry of War.

So I'm wondering, among the six ministries,

how many of them are Prince Kang's people?

We must take precautions.

Your Highness.

Mr. Yang is right.

Prince Kang has long been ambitious.

If he can win over Marquis Dingnan

and gain the military power of the Zhenbei Army,

he will definitely fight against the Crown Prince's Mansion.

Your Highness, you can't just sit and watch.

This brother

is really a jerk.

Your Highness.

Anger is bad for your health.

I think it's not clear yet.

Don't jump to conclusions.

It's obvious that Marquis Dingnan thought Your Highness were grounded

and had lost his power,

so he immediately turned to Prince Kang.

A chameleon like him

will have no excuses.

What Mr. Yang said makes sense.

But these days,

I saw the scene of General Mai teaching your son.

General Mai has never been perfunctorily.

From a small part we may recognize the whole.

So I think

Marquis Dingnan may be shaken,

but he may not have betrayed Your Highness.

Why don't you fight for it?

You're right.

I was impatient.

Your Highness.

I still don't understand one thing.

If Marquis Dingnan

really went to check the list of the Zhenbei Army,

it's not necessary that he has to go to the Ministry of War.

He can find another way.

But he was very determined

to go there.

I'm afraid there's another reason.

Look into it.

See what the people of Marquis Dingnan's Mansion

are looking for when they go to the Ministry of War.

Yes.

[Record of entry and exit of the archives room]

What happened?

I've looked into these files

but none of it has ever mentioned the Xuanwu Army.

Could Chen Qi have deceived you?

I still want to finish reading all these files.

After you finish teaching these days,

I'll accompany you to the Ministry of War to investigate.

I don’t believe

with our intelligence,

we can't find out anything?

With your intelligence?

Can't you see that I've read

this file already?

I-I'm sorry.

Your Highness.

Mr. Xu wants to see you.

Greetings, Princess Shenghua.

Mr. Xu.

I'm sorry for

keeping you in Qingzhou these years.

I, Jing, am gladly endure hardships.

How was your trip?

As soon as I received your message,

I immediately deployed troops

in the name of suppressing bandits.

The army broke up into parts in the mountain

and entered Shengdu.

General Tang led his troops to wait 20 miles outside the city.

I entered the city first.

Thank you.

I'm just worried that

it's hard to explain to Young Marquis.

Yizhi has made great progress after leaving Shengdu for so long.

It's time for him to understand.

It doesn't matter.

I'll talk to him.

Young Marquis has achieved this much

is because of Mai.

Yeah.

Mai is handsome and talented.

Her personality is free and easy like a man.

I like it very much.

Moreover, she is very intelligent and knows the art of war.

She can assist Yizhi in the future.

Although her status is a minus,

it doesn't matter.

It’s good that she doesn’t have relatives.

Don’t you know Mai’s background?

Isn't she

an orphan?

Mai isn’t a commoner.

She’s from a noble family.

Unfortunately, her family has declined.

Which family did she come from?

She is the daughter of Duke Shengguo, Han Maisui.

Your Highness.

The daughter of Duke Shengguo is still alive.

It's been more than ten years.

She wanted to find the enemy who killed her family

and avenge her parents who were killed.

How impressive.

Good deeds will be rewarded and bad deeds will be punished.

Yu's kung fu is quite impressive lately.

It's all thanks to General Mai.

I’m flattered.

It’s my duty.

I heard you’ve been investigating the Xuanwu Army.

Have you?

W-We were just bored.

We were just looking around.

Who would have thought that Your Royal Highness would hear about it?

When I was young, there was a guard

without a name.

Everyone calls him Qi.

There was an obvious scar on his face.

Later, he was transferred away by the army

then there was no news about him.

I was curious so I sent someone to investigate.

It's the Xuanwu Army you two are investigating.

Do you know where he is now?

If you need,

I can send someone to investigate further.

Yes.

Thank you, Your Royal Highness.

General Mai, you're welcome.

It's too sudden.

I didn't expect

the crown prince has information

about the Xuanwu Army.

If we find Qi,

we'll know everything that happened back then.

I can accompany you.

But there are many people in the palace.

Go home.

Control yourself.

Let's have a drink.

Sure. I'll prepare some dishes.

Here.

Cheers.

Cheers.

Drink.

One more.

Mother.

Did you drink?

I'm in a bad mood.

I had a few drinks.

The front yard is so lively.

I can hear General Mai's laughter from

my Luoxia Pavilion.

It's exactly because of this.

Mother.

Do you remember my father's personal guard, Uncle Qi?

The one with a scar on his face.

You've already found this.

Is the Xuanwu Army really related to my father?

Yes.

The commander in chief of the Xuanwu Army is your father.

Then Mai’s father...

Back then,

your father brought a group of elites

disguised as Beimo people.

Chen Qi, the adopted son of Duke Shengguo, led them

to kill Duke Shengguo and his wife.

So your father

killed Mai’s father.

No way.

Why did my father do that?

I wanted to hide it from you.

I didn't expect you to find this part so soon.

Does General Mai know the relationship between Qi and us?

I didn't mention it.

Fine.

Actually, I also like

the person you like.

But you’ve already found this.

Mai is smart.

She won’t miss this clue.

You can't wrap fire in paper.

We should plan for it as soon as possible.

Mother.

You have to help me now.

What do you plan to do?

I plan to

hide it from her forever.

Mu Bai.

Yes.

Tell the kitchen

to prepare a bowl of hangover soup for our great General Mai.

Look.

She's so upset.

Yes.

I was careless last night.

Did I disturb anyone?

I don't think so.

It's just...when I went to visit Mother this morning,

she had dark circles under her eyes.

I wonder if it was because of you last night.

Really?

I didn't leave any good impression.

I'll apologize to her.

If you go now,

you'll wake her up.

It's the right time.

Well...

I...

What should I do?

Why are you laughing?

Just kidding.

I'll teach you a lesson when I sober up.

Young Marquis.

Young Marquis.

There's a letter from the crown prince.

Please open it yourself.

Thank you.

East Market.

You're looking for him?

This is his stall.

It's been vacant for a while.

Why did he suddenly die?

He used to be a strong man.

A few days ago, he was bitten by a poisonous snake

and couldn't be saved.

He's already burned down.

Does he have any relatives?

He has no friends or descendants.

What a pity.

Why are you more depressed than me?

I'm depressed for you.

Life is like this.

Nothing will go your way.

Let it be.

I thought after today,

I can know the truth.

Everything will be fine.

It's getting late.

Go back first.

I want to be alone.

Yizhi.

Mother.

Did she suspect anything?

Everything is predetermined.

How about going to the temple with me to offer incense tomorrow?

Grandfather.

Yu.

Yu.

Yu.

Yu.

Why did you come at this time?

Yu just finished school

so I came to visit you.

You are not here

to plead for your father?

No.

I will be punished if I do something wrong.

Now that Father makes you angry,

naturally he should be punished.

What If I

really punished your father,

you

shouldn't beg for mercy.

Can I ask you

why Father made you angry?

I also want to ask you something.

Come.

Let me ask you.

Why did your father find Mai Sui

to be your teacher?

You knew

Master Mai became my master?

Of course.

Grandfather, have you ever met Master Mai?

Let me tell you.

Although I am in the palace,

I've heard about his achievements.

I've always admired him.

That's why I asked my father to ask Master Mai to teach me martial arts.

Really?

Is it really your idea?

Yes.

I want to be a general like Master Mai.

In the future, I'll fight the enemies and protect Nanxia.

Did your master meet someone

in the Crown Prince's Mansion?

No.

Master Mai only came to the Crown Prince's Mansion for two hours.

He left the palace after class.

Even my mother hasn't seen him often.

Why did you mention this?

Can you stop punishing me?

No.

But I can let you choose how to punish him.

It's usually he punishes me.

How can I punish him?

You can do it because I say so.

How did he punish you?

I'll take revenge for you.

When I do something wrong,

my father will ask me to copy characters.

Copy characters?

Okay.

Then we will let your father copy the characters.

Okay?

Then I'll do it with Father.

Why?

Father once taught me

filial piety is the foundation of virtue.

Filial piety starts with serving parents;

it proceeds to serving the country;

it is completed by working and behaving within the rules of conduct.

Father was punished by Grandfather.

I want to be punished with him.

This is filial piety.

You established yourself with filial piety.

Grandfather approved.

Great.

I thank you on behalf of my father.

The end of the imperial order.

Receive the order.

Don't think too much, Your Royal Highness.

His Majesty just wants you

to calm down.

Your Highness raised Yu well.

His Majesty is very happy.

Thank you for your advice.

Thank you, Your Royal Highness.

I’m leaving.

Mai.

I know you’re in a bad mood,

so I asked the kitchen to prepare porridge for you.

Ask them for whatever you want.

Are you going out?

I want to go to the morgues in Shengdu City.

Didn't Qi have no offspring?

His body must be in a morgue.

I want to check if there's any clue.

I thought you were still sad.

Sad?

I'm sad indeed.

But I will tell myself

it's better to have clues than without clues.

But there are so many morgues.

Can you find him?

I'll just check one by one.

I'll go to the East Market first.

Go offering incense with Princess Shenghua.

Leave me alone.

The end of the imperial order.

I, Qi Min, receive the order.

Please report to Father.

I'll pack up

and head to the fief.

I wish Prince Kang a safe journey.

I'll take my leave.

Goodbye, Mr. Deng.

I didn't expect my father to be so cruel.

I thought he figured it out after he confined the crown prince

and wanted to pass the throne to me.

I didn't expect...

I didn't expect that he cut the ground from under my foot.

That's why your father

is the emperor.

You need to learn slowly.

I'm afraid he won't give me the time

to learn slowly.

Master Pang,

what should we do?

Didn't your father

has already given you a clear way?

A clear way?

A fiefdom?

No.

No, no, no.

A clear way...

Cutting the ground under my foot.

Cutting the ground under my foot.

Cutting the ground under my foot.

I'm sick.

I caught a cold.

I can leave after I recover.

As long as you give me time,

I will cut off the crown prince's ground

under his foot.
