to sustain life was gone.

However, and mark this well,

and the human machine
will find itself in extreme difficulty.

to the outside world, I felt better.

The next most pressing thought:

I made a crude sextant and took
a noon sight on the sun.

According to my calculations,
l am somewhere between...

and Muncie, lndiana.

[Crusoe] Night was coming on now.

With palm fronds and sticks
and my poncho from the dinghy,

I built a snug little shelter.

to a good night's sleep.
